editor-in-chief john solomon. he joins us on the broadcast here. we'll be taking up what it turns out was an organized plan on the part of as many as 30-40 of those in that mob that broke away from the save america rally. and it appears, it appears that there was substantial planning in their efforts to move that mob into the capitol building. the biden administration has already declared our open borders will be welcoming of illegal immigrants, promising amnesty and no deportations of illegal immigrants under a biden presidency. the president-elect will be in defiance, once he takes the oath, of the constitution as he says he will act unilaterally, without a national debate or a vote in the house or the senate. biden's statements all working

to encourage a caravan that is now as many as 12,000 to make their way from honduras through guatemala and mexico to the u.s. southern border. customs and border commissioner mark morgan has already warned about the open borders rhetoric of the incoming administration. mark morgan joins us here this evening. and secretary mike pompeo said china is committing genocide in its repression of the uighurs. will the biden administration be as steadfast in its position and hold china to account? we'll take that up with hudson institute director for chinese strategy, michael pillsbury, here this evening. president trump today said he is praying for the success of the incoming biden administration and condemning the violence of january 6th. now 25,000 troops are in the nation's capital, there to insure that tomorrow's

inauguration is safe and secure. for more on what's happening on the ground in washington, we turn to fox news correspondent mike tobin. good evening, mike. >> reporter: good evening, lou. behind me you've got some members of the indiana national guard taking up their position here in the nation's capital. but between the national guard, secret service, park police and all of the different police and security agencies taking up position, everyday d.c. progressively gets more locked down. meantime, the department of defense is confirming a couple of reports about this massive protective force securing the capital. first there was discussion among qanon supporters to attempt to gain access. no specifics given about how far the plan got, just that there was discussion. second, that the dod confirmed the following fbi screening, 12 guardsmen have been pulled from inauguration duty. ten were identified by the fbi, one identified by his commander, and one identified over a tip line. the dod says two made comments

about the inauguration, the rest are connected to unspecified comments or texts determined to be inappropriate. the chief of the national guard says the vims were pulled because -- individuals were pulled because the guard is not taking any chances. >> i'm not concerned as a large part of our organization. i feel like at 25,000, we've had 12 identified, and some of those they're just looking into. it may be unrelated to this, but we want to make sure out of an abundance of caution, as i stated earlier, that we do the right thing until that gets cleared up. >> reporter: the fbi is warning law enforcement agencies that whoever put a pipe bomb or pipe bombs at the dnc and rnc headquarters has still not been identified. identifying and apprehending that individual is top priority according to the fbi, they also released a picture, but all it shows is a man in a face mask and a hoodie. the bombs were located and renderedded safe with no one getting injured. lou, back to you. lou: mike, thank you very much.

mike tobin reporting from washington. our team coverage continues with fox news correspondent steve harrigan who has details on how much washington is at a standstill now with thousands of troops filling the capitol. steve. >> reporter: lou, the area of washington, d.c. is shut down, it continues to grow. the most obvious and visible are the roads simply blocked off. roadblocks yesterday, sometimes concrete barriers have now been reenforced by fencing, in many cases dump trucks too to buttress those roadblocks. businesses all around not just shut down, but boarded up to try to protect those windows as well. parking is restricted all across the city. they're afraid of car bombs, so you really see no cars parked on the streets. also in the air the tsa has increased security in airports, many airlines not allowing people to check weapons on flights into d.c. on the water the coast guard is

patrolling the potomac and four major bridges in between virginia and d.c. shut down for the next two days. you can get out of this city the, it's very tough to get into the city. on the ground here 13 metro stations also shut down. if you're going to move around today or tomorrow, you're likely going to have to do it by foot, and the mayor says almost daily asking people to stay home. >> forced sterilizations, forced abortion, the kinds of things that we haven't seen in an awfully long time in this world. we now have conducted an exhaustive review of the facts and made the determination that, in fact -- >> reporter: even amtrak, beloved of president-elect biden, will be closed down today and tomorrow in virginia for security concerns. lou, back to you with. lou: steve, thank you very much. steve harrigan reporting from washington. the president-elect has rejected

president trump's effort to lift a travel ban into the united states from europe, brazil and the u.k. biden's press secretary said that now is not the time to lift restrictions because of the worsening pandemic. yet last year as the new china virus was worsening, president trump imposed a travel ban, and then joe biden called his travel ban xenophobic, and he tweeted this: banning all travel from europe or any other part of the world will not stop it. finish taking office appears to have changed joe biden's mind. perspective and all that. joe biden has said he will follow the science when it comes to his response to the china virus, and now a new study finds that lockdowns have no additional benefit to stopping the spread if of the virus than voluntary measures such as social distancing and mask wearing. the researchers from stanford

what her communications were, with whom and what those communications contained. great idea, mrs. clinton. and supreme court chief justice john roberts has declared he doesn't want to preside over a second impeachment trial. who can blame him really? but roberts tacitly affirmed in so doing the democrats' unconstitutional claim that it's possible to be within the bounds of the constitution and to apply impeachment to remove someone from an office that they no longer hold. how's that for legal reasoning on the part of a few? and including, apparently, the chief justice of the supreme court. breaking news now, members of the radical militia group oath keepers today accused of conspiring to organize at least part of the mob at the capitol building on january 6th. joining us now is john solomon,

editor-in-chief of "just the news," best selling author, great american. john, first of all, thanks for being here. this news on a group of -- comprised at least of a number of oath keepers, leading a mob, organizing a substantial number of it, agitating, apparently, and if being -- becoming provocateurs. your thoughts. finish. >> well, listen, i think the most important part in the indictment from the political question here in washington is the fbi alleges these plans date to january 1st. there were detail planning going back to january 1st, six days before the riots began, to carry out this violence. that is fbi's now theory of the case in bringing these conspiracy charges. why is that important? we just heard mitch mcconnell a few hours ago saying, well, the president incited this mob. it turns out this attack was underway and being planned long before the president gave his speech, and i think even "the

washington post" begrudgingly acknowledged today for the first time that the planning for this was long before the president's speech. that's why this impeachment, when it was rushed as such, left out so much important fact gathering. and we're now just beginning to get the outlines of what appears to be a pretty well-formed prior plot to attack the capitol. lou: and this is emanating from the fbi itself. >> it is, from the intercepted communications of the perpetrators and including even on the day of while they were storming the capitol. these oath keepers were communicating saying let's stick to our plan. so in realtime they were referencing a plan. they went back and found the early planning in electronic communications. a very different story than what we were told in the first 24 hours. we often find out much later the truth of what really happened. lou: yes, and i think that the

radical left in this country has a unique record among all partisans in trying to exploit any emergency, any crisis for political benefit. but to see mitch mcconnell, the number one republican in the u.s. senate, pile on without any, any evidence whatsoever of what he was alleging and, in fact, what he was alleging is now disputed by the fbi itself and its charges against these militia members, it's outrageous to see what the r are inos -- rinos are doing here. we understand that not only have the rinos been also blocking, blocking the release of the documents the president has been trying to, has declassified and is trying to release to the public, but now they are attacking the president. they won't be attending his farewell, his departure from andrews air force base as i

still call it. instead, mccarthy and mcconnell and the bunch will be absent. this is a vicious, vicious number of people who i find contemptible. what do you think? >> listen, the most important thing i'm focused on in now the 19 remaining hours president trump has in office is getting those declassified documents to the public. it's important to me to close the loop on all of the work that you and i and sean and others have done. and i have confirmed with the fbi that the documents have been declassified and they've provided the declassified set to the white house. i've confirmed with the white house that the order's been signed. i'm going to be working late tonight to be sure that these documents make it to the american public. when you want to talk about the viciousness of the plot against the president or the acts against the president, the fbi's misconduct with christopher steele and others is going to be

laid bare by these documents. it will be the ultimate historical collection showing just how bad the bureaucracy and other political leaders in washington treated this president. lou: it will also, that release of those documents, will show as we already know that the fbi for some time has been basically a paramilitary police working for the democratic party. even taking the plot conjured by hillary clinton, the opponent of donald trump in 2016, and giving it life and energy and using it as a, as a bludgeon to take up against him personally and his candidacy. >> yeah. lou: there has been no accounting. will there be as a result of these documents in your best judgment? >> well, they certainly will allow the american people to see that the fbi knowingly and willfully carried out hillary

clinton's political dirty trick after learning she was behind it, after learning that christopher steele thought it was part of his motive to do this. and that will no longer be in question that occurred. it also will no longer be in question that the fbi did specifically spy on the trump campaign, targeted the campaign. not just carter page. they had a plot how they were going to target and spy on the campaign going back to 2016. a lot of that gets debunk by these dock units, and i think for history's sake that's important. now it's up to john durham to see if he can bring accountability to people who clearly intentionally misled the courts and the congress. lou: yeah. i think we've all been misled about what mr. durham is actually doing and when he might conclude his pitiful efforts. ginagina haspel has resigned asd of the cia. what took so long?

and why now? and don't you think that she is singularly responsible for making certain that the cia assessment of chinese involvement in our elections was blocked? >> the entire intelligence community tried to block its release until after president trump's departure which is unfortunately given that there was a legal requirement to deliver it more than a month ago. but dni ratcliffe got that information out. i wonder if gina haspel's resignation has anything to do with the last minute efforts to continue to get documents to the american people on things like russia, china and others. there's been tension between her and the white house for some time over giving the american people transparency, and it's unfortunate if that's the reason she's leaving. cia director should be willing to give the american people as much transparency as she possibly can. that's not been the hallmark if of her tenure.

lou: president trump in this afternoon's farewell address. president trump offering encouraging words ahead of his departure tomorrow from the white house. president-elect joe biden, meanwhile, has a sweeping amnesty plan, an open borders plan, that will apply to nearly 20 million illegal immigrants, perhaps more who were in the united states on january 1st. in september, 1985, the u.s. senate passed a bill, a bill to grant amnesty to then more than 2 million illegal immigrants. that bill had the support of more than two-thirds of the senate. and you might be interested to know that one of the 29 senators who rejected the bill was then the senator from delaware, senator joe biden. in october 1986 when the bill was passed by a 64-vote margin in the house and then signed by

president reagan in november, there had been a national conversation and dialogue, it was public debate, the whole nation knew what was happening. and now mr. biden is determined to swiftly pass amnesty as quickly as possible by signing an executive order acting unilaterally. our next guest has been leading the fight to secure the southern border. he says that if the biden administration does carry through on its open borders and wide open immigration plans, we'll be looking at an unmitigated illegal immigration crisis in this country. joining us now is customs and border protection commissioner mark morgan. mark, great to have you with us. i want to begin with that caravan that's making its way up into mexico and on its way to our borders. if we can take a look at what is happening here, folks, these are stunning pictures.

thousands of, thousands of these illegal immigrants have been headed off in guatemala, even honduras and heading into mexico meaning to get to the united states' border. 8,000, now 12,000 we're told. what is your miss toms and border -- what is your customs and border protection intelligence telling you about the numbers? >> so, lou, you're exactly right. so the numbers are a little bit all over the place. as you can imagine. as the caravan goes from honduras through into guatemala, there are more straphangers that join the caravan, making it larger. but i've got to tell you, lou, what you were saying about the amnesty, look, this is knotts a political -- not a political statement. this is a law enforcement perspective from cbp. it's not just about the amnesty,

it's about the rhetoric that he's going to stop deportations for a hundred days, that if you're here illegally, we're going to stop and rescind mpp, that ended catch and release, and i could go on and on. that's why this is not an immigration strategy. the biden administration, it's an open border strategy. and when people ask me what's going to happen starting tomorrow, i say it's already happening. the caravan, lou, is just a microcosm of what's happening and what's to come because of these policies. lou: and do we know what the origin of this is? we've known these caravans have been organized and supported and financed with by various groups including prominent nonprofit ngo as well. give us -- ngos as well. give us a sense of who's behind this. >> lou, that's important. something you need to understand, the migrants don't just wake up one day and decide, hey, a i'm going to join the

caravan. these are well organized, well orchestrated and funded operations. and let's be clear, the organizers themselves, i've seen the manifesto for one of the largest organize andrs and the n smugglers, they're all using president biden by name and citing him and his open border policies as a reason they're coming. they actually interviewed a young migrant from honduras who said, quote: we -- according to soon to be president biden, we have a hundred days to get to the u.s. citing biden's promise to stop lawful deportations for a hundred days. it's clear why they're coming, and it's these open border strategies that are driving it. lou: it's inconceivable that we're not, even the far left in this country as biden represents as he takes the oath of office

tomorrow, it's remarkable that they've learned nothing about the impact of their rhetoric and their promises on the surge across those borders. >> yeah, lou, that's exactly right. but they know. they know. i mean, the soon to be president biden, he's already started walking baqubah he promised during the campaign -- back what he promised he was going to do in the. campaign on day one. his own words, he said they're not going to be able to do everything on day one because if they did rescind president trump's policies and initiatives, that we'd have 2 million people on our border. that's the one thing that i agree with president-elect joe . yet -- joe biden. he didn't say they're going to rescind or change their open border policies, he just says not yet. he's just kicking the crisis down the road. lou: mark morgan, the acting commissioner of customs and border protection. mark, thank you very much. thanks for your service to the

virtual inauguration. and as we continue to observe the security preparations for the inauguration tomorrow here in washington, d.c., fox news has received confirmation from the head of the national guard that at least a dozen members of the guard have actually now been removed from duty, pulled from duty here in the nation's capital because of, quote, suspected far-right extremist ties. general daniel hokinson would only say authorities saw inappropriate texts or comments that led to the troops being relieved of duty. just the latest striking headline ahead of what's supposed to be a peaceful transfer of power in a capital that's, frankly, beginning to resemble the green zone in iraq if not more than that. but for those who are wondering if this level of vetting is unprecedented, well, those in the know, lou, say think again. >> well, i think the vetting that is occurring with the national guard and others is the same type that we see with most inaugurations.

the nation's capital for church. as you know, that is a tradition on inauguration day, biden becoming the second catholic u.s. president. jfk being the first. lou? lou: kevin, thank you very much. kevin corke from washington. breaking news now, a day before the biden inauguration, new polls showing the american people are concerned with the direction of the united states. in the latest "usa today"/suffolk university follow, 65 -- poll, 65% of american voters say america's headed in the wrong direction. nbc's latest polling shows 73% of voters say america's on the wrong track. 53% of americans are pessimistic and worried about the future. well, joining us now is victor davis hanson, senior fellow at the hoover institution at stanford and a national review contributor. great to have you with us,

victor. this is an extraordinary, extraordinary moment as we look -- kevin corke referenced the green zone in baghdad during the iraq war. 25,000 of our troops in the nation's capital. have we ever seen that many of our national guardsmen deployed anywhere in this country at one time? >> i can't think of a historical parallel, maybe the raid in 1864 when he tried to take washington and abraham lincoln was shot at. that's about the closest we've seen to the militarization of the capital. what i don't understand is the lack of concern about it, because we always thought the left was the bulwark against a overweaponnyization or militarization of our bureaucracies, our military. we had retired officers came out and warned us when donald trump suggested that the anti that/blm

movement was too close to the white house, that he might have to bring in federal troops. they said he was basically plotting a coup. they're silent. i haven't heard one retired general say that they were concerned about that use of military force. so same thing with fbi. everything's flipped upside down, lou. the left likes the overzealousness of fbi, cia, the military. now examining the ideological framework of individual soldiers, but, i mean, they're going to do that. we've had retired military that said the commander in chief just six months ago reminded them of mussolini, hitler. and i'm quoting directly now, a very prominent general, an admiral, that he should be removed sooner than later. but that wasn't considered insurrectionary, so there's no pretense to even be disinterested. it's all one-sided, and i think that's why these polls show that concern. a rasmussen poll had donald trump at 51%, one of the highest

of his entire tenure. so that backlash is growing. it's because there's not a disinterested, honest appraisal. it's all biased and asymmetrical. lou: yeah. let me -- i suspect that we're going to see the president's approval rating rise with, well, i would guess every successive month of the biden administration when we see these kinds of numbers saying the country's headed already in the wrong direction. i want to turn to two things. as a military historian, you appreciate the fact that all of our, all of our service members have a background check as they enter the service. every recruit. to see this fbi investigate suggesting that an fbi investigation or background check by any number of the contractors that do it could be in any with way extensive in a matter of days is really
