if you missed the show we have an encore presentation every weeknight at 7:00 p.m.. thanks for watching. this country will be on a roll if we just let it alone. i am kudlow, have a great evening. kennedy: if there's one thing we have learned about science over the last year at something that can be and banned in any direction that could benefit the user entirely politically or otherwise. there's no greater with pretoria contortionist than anthony fauci or who's become the expert on coronavirus yet he uses an objective term like science so subjectively it's almost like he's making things things up or just what dr. fauci said last march. he was following the science. >> people should not be walking around with a mask. kennedy: that's right and then he had this massive shift three weeks later.
8:01 pm
>> putting a mask on yourself is more to prevent you from infecting someone else and if everybody does that we will each protect each other. kennedy: in the strata of frustration pretty low on the list. fauci was all over the map with the emotional toll it would take on people long-term. for many people a mask is a straitjacket and a constant reminder of the virus they are being lied to about. if we get enough people inactivated plus those who have contracted covid we are in good shape, right mathematically? >> you will need about 70% maybe 75% of the people in the country vaccinating to get that umbrella of herd immunity. i would say between 870 and 85% of the population. if we get that we will develop an umbrella of immunity.
8:02 pm
kennedy: fauci admitted to "the new york times" he added a few percentage points to the upper end of the ultimate immunity number. enough people are going along with it. he has admitted he's making stuff up so why is he the guy in charge? it's clear the new demonstrations seeking to downplay her expectations by roping us into thinking we will be maskless and normal for another year. even the vaccine among us will be enjoying life any differently than we did before so what the hell kind of pitch for marketing is back? is the worst messaging ever for something that is utterly necessary for a return to normalcy. florida who is taking the gamble to forgo lockdowns will have a competitive advantage. their businesses haven't had the

layout the last of their employees. when things do open whatever that means florida will be shot out of a canon. what does dr. fauci duplex he criticized florida governor ron desantis for reopening schools when he should have been closely watching the florida model than advising other states to follow suit. in the end it affects dr. fauci very little. he doesn't have to leave his two kids in a hotel room while he works his shift at little caesars and he doesn't have the bag bankers and bureaucrats for a loan to keep the pattern of his business and business. he gets to shift with the winds enjoying an uninterrupted paycheck chuckling all the way to the bank or the fcc studios while hoodwinking desperate and skeptical americans who are ready to tell him to shove the science in his brown bunsen burner. so with the batting average like a pitcher where we expected to
8:04 pm
just take dr. fauci's word as gospel? let's get into it with tonight supersmart panel realclearpolitics co-founder and executive editor. the correspond for "the greg gutfeld show" on "fox nation" kat timpf and strategies radio host and "fox news" contributor leslie marshall rounds out the panel. welcome everyone. i will start with you tom because people have grown beyond frustrated and now they are hearing from other doctors like marty makary and i introduce him last night. he wrote a great op-ed in the new york journal saying given the deaths of these new covid numbers and how fast they are falling how many people are being inoculated and how many people who contracted covid without even knowing it are returned to normalcy could be as early as this spring. people hear stuff like that and they are like why are we only listening to one guy would clearly there could be a
8:05 pm
difference of opinion on the spectrum. >> right and there are a lot of components to this. fauci is the preeminent expert in these been in government for a long time but the media has used him as this tooth fairy and everything he said was to be taken as gospel and that's the question and there would be no dissent, no other alternative and fauci now this is a virus we'd never seen before so he is making it up as he goes along but more partly he is a vero at just. he is a bureaucrat. he is not a therapist and he doesn't understand a lot of the other aspects of this crisis. so for those reasons i think it was a mistake to rely on him and the media props him up as the first and last word when in fact he even he now admits he was fudging the numbers as they went
8:06 pm
along to enhance the narrative that he wanted to present to the american people. kennedy: we have to realize a lot of this is ongoing. a lot of this is evolving and lay people don't understand that doesn't mean pat that we have to subscribe to one persons opinion as gospel because a lot of that especially was opinion looking at serious data and trying to make sense of it. there were differences of opinions and now those differences have greatly affected people's lives. i look at this and why would you get the vaccine if it's not going to do you any good? where has the skepticism than? >> i think a lot of people, this is a huge ask. this has been a year of our lives with no end in sight and he said of course on monday hey just because you're vaccinated
8:07 pm
you shouldn't go eat indoors. we need to protect a sick calls it the safety of society. what others me about that is the implication that not doing those things to protect the safety of society because it doesn't. we were not a society at all and we have been in the society. a society is a group of people that anoraks socially on a regular basis. it's not people and their individual homes or their individual apartments. you can't keep saying we need society. we have lost society entirely and that's something that us as human beings not just for meant to help the physical health as well. kennedy: i think about some of these lockdowns. i haven't seen my parents in 15 months the longest i've ever gone without seeing my mom and i can't wait to get back home and see my family leslie. when you look at the numbers in

8:10 pm
>> they do not differ on things like how it's transmitted which is within our nose and her mouth and the belief that the mask went over your face can prevent those droplets from getting to someone else. >> droplets know nothing of lockdowns and therefore when you have a lot down in one state in no lockdown in the other states and the numbers are the same that means that the lockdowns in the name of safety are not working and that's why people are mad and rightly so. they have been lied to. in order for government to state control. a new marist poll says 41% of new new york voters think governor andrew cuomo has done something unethical in his handling of nursing homes to the pandemic. 19% say he did something illegal illegal and now the governor is trying to do more damage control starting friday. he says he will allow some visits to nursing homes in certain areas of families kept

apart by his rules from the year. he should have been doing the opposite and a quick surface of the governor speaking in may about how he would never take such stances with his own mother >> if i were advising a friend i would say you have a vulnerable person. it's best to keep them at home and not put them in a congregate facility. keep them in a situation where you have the most control. that is the blunt truth. that's what i would do with my mother. kennedy: if only he would have employed that blunt truth to other people or by next guest is urged by republicans to challenge cuomo next year. is he the one to fix this mess and will he try and put the fourth term republican lee zeldin welcome to the show.
8:12 pm
it's getting a little spicy but we like to keep things hot here. how's it playing out for the governor? is he doomed or is he going to triumph? >> i think what is different right now is you're hearing from a lot of democrats speaking up in the past you've had republicans trying to hold governor cuomo hold governor cuomo's feet to the fire and hold them accountable but right now whether it's him with her congressional candidates and democratic candidates and legislators speaking up about the bullying the vindictive approach towards governing and the ramifications as you are pointing out is the result of the governor's policies and then the cover-up and the dishonesty. he said he didn't have enough time to provide the information because he was too busy yet the governor was saying the reason they weren't providing information wasn't that they were too busy but they wanted to

8:21 pm
katie pavlich. a great job. not great news about what this president tents to do in terms of gun control. what's most problematic for you here? >> what is problematic is the biden white house is not leaving the room on the issue of gun control. last year we have record numbers in terms of the number of purchases. 40% of gun purchases last year were first-time gun owners and they aren't your typical ratio stereotype white guys who are buying these firearms for these women and it went up 50% of african-americans buying guns over the previous years so it's very diverse in terms of who are dying to guns and they are come in as there has been a record number of sales and therefore we need to back down on a pretty thing people in congress know legislatively won't get done
8:22 pm
which makes it more dangerous because we have executive action being taken through the justice department so remember in the obama administration dad operation choke point where they pressured banks and they pressured transactional services to not go through with gun purchases or to freeze the assets of gun companies and of course if you can get your hands on a firearm that's an infringement on second member rights. we have a new build the house where you have to be mentally fit to on a firearm but what is the definition of back? if you're a libertarian is john brennan weren't about this that make you unqualified to on a firearm? kennedy: that's what i found to be very problematic is mental illness is such a broad term and that was launched into the legislation imposed in the house. you also have the same old distinction about weapons by people who know nothing about weapons.
8:23 pm
the idea of weapons of war and assault rifles which are cosmetic distinction that they don't really do anything. >> they tried to own the language on this so they use the term assault rifle and they use the word weapons of war into scaring people on their infringement in the 2nd amendment. they don't call themselves gun control groups anymore they call themselves gun violence prevention groups and they think if they lump all the people who want higher rooms into the same category and vicki calling for background checks. let's remember on record 22 million new purchases were made last year and every single one of them went through an fbi back around check. kennedy: there is no such thing. >> you get it mailed to your door were just not sure but a pandemic change that and all the an arrest flat steer had a lot

only person of the bill goes to covid programs. the democrat governor and some would say governor newsom in california governor cuomo as you were just talking about could use a little bit of relief from the troubles they have back home and i know something coming from virginia about governors in trouble. we need a bill that focuses on covid focuses on getting vaccines in the arms and opening up our economy. only 5% of this bill and the money that goes to schools opens up schools this year. kennedy: why the urgency? that's what i don't understand. i talk about this on the show almost every night. there a lot of frustrated parents out there and i am among them whose kids are still learning remotely. if the schools aren't open and they aren't spending money and not spending this money then why is that much money earmarked other than a handout to teachers unions?
8:32 pm
>> gavin newsom has to survive a recall election so nancy pelosi put in billions for some kind of high-speed rail in california that's the kind of thing that is being shoved into this bill and it's being real routed through the house by pelosi and bernie sanders wants even more money a socialist bill on steroids. we need to turn around and focus on the people who are in trouble right now the people who are out of work and the people who need assistance with covid getting these vaccines have been distributed to the public. everyone needs a vaccine who wants one. we should be able to give it to them. kennedy: it's really frustrating because there a lot of seniors and i talked to family members and friends and others who say their parents in grandparents cannot get their hands on a vaccine and you hear story to story about entire batches having to be thrown out as the rollout has been mismanaged in

8:34 pm
>> unfortunately nancy pelosi calls the shots here in the house and she is going to ram this thing through because she scared of the aoc and scared of the squad so she knows she has to push it through and it's going to come down to joe manchin and hopefully the american people can put up enough of a fight to stop this and refocus it on the people who need it and delivering aid for covid. kennedy: republicans have to remember the cost cutters again and i know it's going to be tough for you guys but someone has to do it. congressman cline thank you so much. how do democrats plan to pay for all this new spending? we do taxes of course but today the nonpartisan tax foundation said the biden planned hike on taxes is -- will kill more than 150,000 jobs and reduce wages for those who are still employed. that is after secretary to treasure janet yellen said this

it will be great and we are not on the hook for anything. obviously the corporate tax rate looks like it's going to go up 7%. they are talking about a capital gains tax. which would be worse for the economy? >> they are both bad. the corporate tax rate is strictly impactful because they are basically corporations across-the-board and what's so funny about the corporate tax rate kennedy being on the docket for potential change is this is an administration and the federal reserve and the janet yellen treasury secretary that talks about how low we are on job growth and how troublesome wage growth is out there. you have the minimum wage for spare putting on businesses but here mr. and mrs. corp. we will help you by raising the taxes you pay to the government. talk about misplaced opportunity here. there was one i would choose from my guesses the capitol gains tax would be better for
