liz: look is back with us "fox news" conservative joe concha. we have been on covid-19 per year. is it fair to say the american people have been misled by the media when it comes to covid to coast white house chief medical adviser dr. anthony fauci going after florida's governor ron desantis over the way he is
6:55 pm
handling the pandemic are your reaction? >> well i am a numbers guy as you know elizabeth so let's take the partisan politics out of that. unfortunate dr. fauci during the biden administration is morphed into a partisan bureaucrat. let's look at the numbers. florida has a larger population than new york for example. i never hear anthony fauci talk much about governor andrew cuomo and his handling of covid particularly as it pertains to nursing homes. i wonder why that is. florida has a larger population and an older population by age. therefore more vulnerable. florida has four major cities of miami tampa jacksonville yet they have 17,000 less deaths. yet they have been open basically since may when desantis opened the beaches and open businesses from there so while the new york is dying from an economic perspective they have had more meanwhile desantis many less depth to get the economy is driving down there and the irony here
6:56 pm
elizabeth is that many new yorkers are moving to florida for this reason because of ron desantis' leadership in the fact they have more freedom from a business perspective and from a human perspective overall particularly as it pertains to schools reopening. liz: we hear you, joe. let's listen to dr. fauci. >> i dumping would be fair to say that the governor of florida did anything wrong, not at all. there were certain things that were done that i disagreed with and it wasn't just me personally but in a public health person who looked at it but i think it would be unfair to say that he did everything wrong. liz: he didn't spell out what governor desantis did wrong and critics keep saying why are taxpayers paying the salary of an expert who's been criticized. what did ron desantis do so wrong?
6:57 pm
>> i don't know. i would love to ask dr. anthony fauci that because if you make an accusation like that on national television you better have the goods to back it up. dr. fauci has been over exposed her no good reason. he has done hundreds upon hundreds of interviews since the pandemic again and that would defined at the nexus was consistent and correct them time and again it has not just like almost everybody else so i don't want to make it look like fauci has been wrong in everybody else's been right. this is an unprecedented pandemic obviously and remember what he said about mass, don't wear mask and then he said a couple of months later maybe you should wear a mask but i only said that because i was trying to protect front-line workers and a couple of weeks ago he said you know what to mouse are better because common sense says that makes sense. wait a minute if that was common sense why wouldn't that be the recommendation. he said this during a white house press briefing last week. he said their things even if you are vaccinated you are going to
6:58 pm
be able to do in society for example indoor dining, theaters places where people congregate. then he says three nights later on "cnn" he says well people will be able to socialize once they are vaccinated because it's backed by his two favorite words common sense so all those mixed messages tell me that he should say no once in a while to every microphone is put in front of them and every interview request because unless you have more information in your consistent maybe you shouldn't be on tv so often because maybe you are compute -- confusing people at this point dr. fauci. liz: i hear what you're saying in the flip-flopping saying you can't congregate, where a mask, don't wear a mask, reopen the schools don't reopen the schools. the thing you pointed out about florida new york is he has played the new york governor
6:59 pm
since last july. what justification does dr. fauci have for saying a state with the second highest death rate per-capita from covid is doing a good job and what justification does he have for praising the new york governor and going after instead ron desantis when governor cuomo is accused of covering up nursing home deaths that his order created putting patients back in nursing homes. >> wears that strong statement that okay even my 7-year-old knows probably shouldn't put sick people that have a contagious virus back into institutions where there are vulnerable people that can die from it. that order was ridiculous. his own aides said they purposely -- the numbers because they are frayed of an investigation. got to go. liz: joe thank you so much. have a good night.
