on this spike and one of the biggest drivers, like it or not, is the drug war connect let's be very clear. republican and democrat policy on this is almost identical. republican policy isn't to put families and children in cages and pretend that they are protecting us and democrat policy is to put families and children in cages and rename them to overflow facilities. the reality is we are never going to solve this crisis and it is a crisis until we deal with the two main issues that is bringing them here in the first place but number one, as you alluded to, it is a war on drugs that created the cartels that are creating the violence that is causing so many to flee here and as long as we continue to have a war on migration instead of an ellis island type of policy where people can come here and take part in the american dream and a more streamlined process, we are creating a second cartel of people trying to bring people in which is leading to the expectation of families and children by both the migrants and the government when they get here. it's not going to end until we break the logjam of how we are treating migrants.

the idea is like we will target the rich and they will pay for all the spending but first of all, even though they have money there is only so much money and they don't have $2 trillion to pay for this latest bailout and so there is a spending problem and then following that with a tax problem that has always been unpopular among americans. the interesting thing is over the past 70 years, even with all the different tax rates, the federal government has never been able to tax more than 20% of gdp indicating that americans are very good at finding ways to reduce their personal burden and so the only thing that higher tax rates will do is just going to be harming the people who can't hire these big fancy accountants. kennedy: and that is what rich people do and that's what they will continue to do in this idea that you will soak the rich and pay for everything, let's leave the covid stuff aside.
