"the evening edit" starts right now. ♪. elizabeth: thanks again for joining us. you're watching the fox business network. we begin tonight with senator lindsey graham accusing the biden administration of a massive coverup at the border. look who is back with us. senator chuck grassley. senator, always great, an honor to have you on. senator, you were among the senators touring the southern border last week. is this a coverup by the biden administration? what did you see? >> it is at least a coverup until today because i was informed that maybe they are trying to let journalists and tv cameras in. prior to it they didn't even want members of the senate to see it. when we were down there taking pictures with our iphones they were threatening us all the time. said we shouldn't be doing this,

et cetera, et cetera. but, there is so much of a humanitarian crisis, public health crisis, national security threat, that we, we 18 senators that were down there last friday new that this information had to get out. now maybe that is why the biden administration is letting those journalists in there but it's a terrible mess that you see. a place that shouldn't have more than 1000, probably has four thousand. you see people sleeping shoulder to shoulder and on the floor. you see 10% of the people tested, at least the ones we test, 10% of them got covid. it's a super superspreader. it didn't need to be this way. i will stop by saying this, the border patrol told us prior to the inauguration they were asked twice through to consult with the biden transition team and

what to do about the situation there because they wanted to do it differently and they said leave these policies remain in mexico, et cetera, et cetera. leave them alone and they didn't follow the people that are on the job down there and, you see the crisis we have now. elizabeth: now we've got guatemala declaring a state of emergency, a potential caravan is heading out of honduras to the u.s. border. the biden team is being accused by border authorities on our show of quote arrogance and vanity. they're botching the job. they were told how to do it. they ignored the good advice of the border patrol. what do you make of the vice president and the president, no plans to visit the border. now the vice president may do a diplomacy tour of central america? is that good enough, senator? >> oh, heavens no. the only thing good enough when trump had it under control, leave it that way, go back to

that, handle the thing in a more orderly way is the only way to do it. one thing that i would suggest, is that where there are legitimate claims of asylum or at least legitimate claims to hear asylum case, more judges at the border would help expedite that. so we would, get people adjudicated sooner. whether or not they had a legitimate claim of asylum. elizabeth: so in other words, do it the humanitarian way. do it at the ports of entry. do it legally but 1.4 million are expected to try to cross illegally this fiscal year. former top border guy mark morgan saying 30,000 already released into the interior. senator ron johnson, do you agree with what he says he saw, things like children being thrown overboard bit cartels in order to distract the border patrol and cartels selling children so people can cross as

family units? is that what you saw? >> yes, that's what i saw and let me add too, from statistics of the border a patrol. they need 85% of their personnel on the border, securing their border, right now they have less than half of them on the border. so the border is not being secured and they're getting in people, well, drugs and guns and, even criminals coming in. since october the 1st there are 800 people with criminal records coming into the country and some of them guilty of murder. and so we need our border patrol securing the border, not babysitting with kids. elizabeth: let's move on to this. we want to talk about what is happening with the speaker pelosi and house democrats accused of trying to steal iowa's second congressional

district victory of republican miller meeks. can you comment on that? >> well, of course. first of all 400,000 iowans voted and what pelosi is talking about doing, hopefully she doesn't get away with it, if enough democrats will take an exception for it, she wants 221 democrats to vote to overrule the judgment of 400,000 iowans in the second district. the challenger there is the person by the name of rita heart. her campaign filed a report with the house administration committee suggesting that the committee, these are direct quotes from the report, depart from iowa law. can you imagine, 435 people in congress of the united states elected under their state laws and we got somebody thinking you can depart from state law? it is just ridiculous. we're hearing a little bit of good news from the standpoint

that maybe five to 10 democrats are raising questions about whether it is the smart thing to do substantively. some of them are raising questions about whether it is the smart thing to do politically. if five or 10 democrats would not go along with pelosi, it won't happen. it shouldn't happen because we, we not only had the election. we had two recounts and the challenger had a chance both at the iowa supreme court. they passed that up to do a political manuever in washington, d.c. it is just, just wrong. elizabeth: okay. we got it. we're going to stay on the story. senator chuck grassley, thanks so much for joining us. we really appreciate it. let's bring in texas attorney general ken paxton. senator, you heard what the senator is saying. we have arizona congressman andy biggs, get back to the border, tell the homeland security committee stop releasing immigrants into my state of

arizona. we're overwhelmed here. he is not able to get straight answers what is going on. what are you hearing? >> that people are being released. it is unmitigated disaster, it is a humanitarian crisis. this was foreseeable. we saw this with the obama pin station. we had this the in beginning of trump administration. he had policies that slowed down. president biden wanted to undo everything that worked. he wanted policies that didn't work and we have disaster healthwise, crimewise and economically devastating impact on the border. elizabeth: sir, we've been covering this story, the border for the last four years at the earning edit on a weekly basis as best we can. we're trying to make an effort here. we've been tracking what border authority has been telling us, that officials are saying it is not just illegals trying to cross in central america. they have tracked people from at least people from 140 countries

in middle east, like iraq, syria, also yemen. this is a global problem hitting the border, right? >> yeah and it is not surprising, when you say on day one of your administration which president biden did, hey we'll not deport you if you get here in the first 100 days, it is an open invitation for anyone, anywhere that can make it to the border to come across and they're going to be okay. i think he created this problem. he is denying it but reality is, these numbers, you just mentioned people coming from all over the world. none of it is surprising to me. elizabeth: sir, so what is your reaction to the vice president and the president not going to the border but the vice president will do a tour, a diplomacy tour of central america? is that good enough? >> no. i think the reason they don't want to go to the border they don't want to highlight what is going. they don't want pictures of what is happening. don't want pictures coming across the border. they don't want pictures of them visiting centers with kids

passport in florida. what do you think of this idea? >> i think it's a great idea. i hope there is more governors out in the country that will stand against this type of action from our national government mandating that individuals have to show some type of a proof of getting the vaccine to travel in our country. it is absolutely absurd when we look what is happening on our border right now. we have people coming across the border, 500 kids a day, who we know have covid, 10% of them, they're not even being tested. they're being shipped out all across the country to be in different places because there is not enough places on the border to house them. we'll force the citizens of our country to be able to show proof of being vaccinated in order to travel yet we're going to allow illegal immigrants to come across the border in droves without being tested for covid. elizabeth: or have voter i.d. to vote. that is also the debate about that as well. it feels unfair to citizens who have been doing the right thing. people understand what it is is

that it's a scannable code on a smartphone, that you have to show you've been vaccinated if you want to get into concert venue. people are worried about privacy concerns. they warn it should not be a government mandate. big tech likes to get information on you to track you. what do you say about that? >> of course big tech wants more information, wants you on the cell phone where they track every ad you clip, every website you go to, track you to send you advisements and no what information you're looking at, what websites you're going to. of course big tech wants that information. i don't think the federal government should be involved in the private decisions, the private medical decisions that americans are making whether to get the vaccine or not. that is a decision that is up to the individual. if they want to get the vaccine they can get it. if they don't want to take the vaccine they should have the opportunity not to be punished not being able to travel in the continental united states. absolutely this is a complete

♪. elizabeth: with me now is new york republican representative claudia tenney. congresswoman, so great to have you on. what do you want people to understand about this story? that a top new york state doctor who is supposed to oversee covid testing at new york nursing homes, reportedly pulled off of her job multiple times by governor cuomo's team to test chris cuomo and his family at the home in the hamptons? dr. adams spent hours doing vip testing for chris cuomo and his family. what do you want people to understand about this story? >> this is outrageous. when you think how many people could not get their vaccines, partly because of what governor

cuomo did to disrupt the entire pandemic plan all counties had in place. he decided to control it on his own using the hospitals. they were not equipped and counties were ready. seniors waited in line. there was no vaccine. this is governor cuomo getting his brother, inner circle, vip priorities using a state worker on state payroll with state benefits to prioritize the cuomo family over needy citizens and seniors around our community. i think it is outrageous. i think it is an abuse of power and it goes right to the same situation we've seen with cuomo right along, whether covering up and falsifying records as we've seen with this nursing home scandal which i think he should resign over. i'm hoping this is part of his impeachment. he has a ninth woman who looks incredible. this is looking like a scandal. the nursing home scandal is egregious because it affects his job as governor you about to prioritize his own brother, that

they were always on tv together was just kind of gross. elizabeth: 100 allies including allies friends like kenneth cole got vip testing too. they were fast tracked in the system. they were given nicknames like the inner circle, the priorities, the specials and one state nurse said they were treated like royalty. they were allowed to jump ahead of the line when the rest of new yorkers couldn't get testing last year. this is striking that they had nicknames in a separate database in the new york system. >> they have to cover it up. they have to make it look like these are actual vips. the governor rules like a monarch. they were royalty in their eyes. that is how they act. the governor has all the power. the legislature gave it to him. now he is in the middle of a budget negotiations which is, the budget is due in couple days. he is busy handing out goodies to all his democratic friends to leverage their silence. so they don't vote to impeach

him. more of them don't come out to demand his resignation. this doesn't surprise me at all. the governor, they really do feel like they're above everyone else. we're subjects. everyone else in new york state. he bullies people. he pushes them around. i think a lot of his behavior, it is finally, finally becoming evident to people. finally the press corps is coming after him. it is pretty significant that the "washington post" did a lot of this story uncovering the chris cuomo scandal with the vip treatment. now the albany press corporation is finally after all these years, finally instead of give being him a back massage, he is starting to get negative feedback which is why the public is starting to get informed, why the truth is coming out. why i have called for his resignation all the way back from 2014 for what i think has been numerous abuses of power in his role as governor, dealing with his role as the governor and his fiduciary obligation to the taxpayers and the voters. so here we are, another special

accommodation. elizabeth: media critics show saying cnn is falling down on the job. cnn, for example, their media guru brian stelter not covering this latest andrew cuomo bombshell involving their anchor chris cuomo even though the reported preferential vip treatment is being investigated as part of the state's ongoing impeachment probe of the governor. so cnn is being criticized for basically saying that they're talking about talking truth to power, speaking truth to power, calling out abuses of power but falling down on the job, not covering what their own anchor got in the way of vip treatment. can you really treat cnn as a credible news source when it is not doing its job here? >> i don't think so. i of course have a lot of issues with cnn and the way they report. it is very biased, one-sided. they don't even attempt to put on people with a differing opinion. i think it is interesting to note.

i don't know if you mentioned this on the show. not only was chris cuomo getting all the vip treatment. no one should forget this is the guy did famous outcoming of so-called rue two week quarantine he was actually in the hamptons looked at his new house. he badgered some poor guy on a bicycle. it was public. people knew about it. he was so unself-aware he still came out made it look like it was some amazing two week quarantine in his cellar. what was really telling his family didn't buy it either. they were not acting well. yeah, right, dad, we know this is a hoax. really phony. and you know, they are royalty in new york in their own minds. elizabeth: yeah but you know, said they were royalty. "the washington post" quoting state health workers like nurses saying why is the cuomo family being treated like royalty? why are they allowed to jump ahead of the line in front of everybody else when people literally are dying in new york

nursing homes because of allegedly cuomo's policy putting patients back in? so your final word on that state workers being pulled off the job to do this, what do you think, final word? >> that is an abuse of power. using people in their official capacity to cater to the personal needs of the cuomo family and i think that is right, in of itself looks to me like it could be actionable. it could go to all the other abuses that have been piling up whether it is falsifying records, taking advantage of the system, using state workers for your own benefit and your family and your vip and your staff. that is what really concerns me. this is finally coming out. i just wonder, if this is the tip of the iceberg, how much more has cuomo gotten in special treatment throughout the years by, in other scandals that may have happened, that we know about? it is time to have real investigative journalism and dig into this stuff, now that he is

other countries to go along with them. if piece people are waiting for an independent report to come out, whether they're waiting for some kind of proof that china had irregular procedures getting this virus out into the world, they're going to be waiting forever. the important thing is for antony blinken and joe biden to continue to press the point. china, you have a lot of explaining to do. china, americans want lawsuits against the chinese government, the chinese military, wuhan lab for devastation it caused the world. it is important to continue to press it. don't give them a free ride. why? because there are two reasons you should never give them a free ride, one. china is telling the world, america can't handle thing. democracies are finished, free-market capitalism. we china, can only deal with the complex society of the 21st century. yet, by not challenging the

chinese on this point, almost the biden administration saying okay, you got a mulligan. don't worry about it. the other important reason is the rest of the world is looking to china's response. will the united states stand up to china? will the united states hold china accountable? if the night doesn't, all these countries are being asked to choose. if you want to follow america, you want to follow china. if america doesn't look like it is not standing up to china, they the countries will cut their own private, separate deals not to our advantage. elizabeth: if they cut their own separate deals with china, what happens to the u.s. in this regard? if you look what the w.h.o. reported, it is basically like a whitewash. the wuhan institute of virology already deleted already its databases containing information on 16,000 virus samples it studied before the pandemic. whine china was crediting the

wuhan lab as bio level safety 4 lab. mike pompeo said china discovered 2,000 viruses in the last deck i had can. it took more than 200 years for the rest of the world to discover the same number of viruses. are we subject now again and again and again, to china you know, basically letting out viruses that are making the world sick and killing people? >> you know i think there are two points to that. one, whether the chinese intended this as a biological weapon and whether they were just studying it because of poor practices the virus got out into the world, it doesn't really matter. the chinese, once they knew the lethality of it, they deployed it as biological weapon. they shut down travel in china to not let it travel in china. they encouraged travel from the united states, rest of the world from wuhan. spreading it around the world. they knew they were causing a

pandemic. how many more are lined up? the other thing that bothers me, liz, a lot of data hacks we've had recently, especially the ones from china, what have they hacked? they hacked the dna sequencing of a lot of americans. more than half of the united states citizens, half of americans have their dna somewhere in china. what is china going to do with that? are they going to, are they going to use it in labs? are they going to use to it create medicines or use knit a more sinister way. hopefully, maybe, probably not but i'm very concerned with the fact that they are doing this because as we've seen with wuhan, is it responsible or was it a deliberate attempt? doesn't matter. elizabeth: got it. kt, thank you for joining us. we'll have you back on again soon. good to see you again. next, texas mayor john mcloughlin, jr., he sounded the alarm about criminal illegals committing robberies, doing car chases in his town in texas of uvadi.

♪. elizabeth: let's welcome to the show the mayor of uvaldi, texas. mayor don mcloughlin, jr. good to see you, your honor. what do you want people to understand what your town is experiencing with illegal border crossers? >> i want, people need, the problem that we're seeing is most people don't know what we're seeing in our area. they don't, they don't understand, they don't know that, you know, we're having car chases on a daily basis. in the four county area around us now, today alone, demi, uvaldi, there were probably 20 chases today for illegal immigrants coming in. these are not all people that have squeaky-clean records, want to come in. you know, our ranchers are seeing more break-ins at their ranches, more thefts of their cars, ranch vehicles.

they're running through their fences. it is just getting totally out of control. it is like the wild, wild west here. we had to lock our school down last week. this is the third or fourth time we had to do that, they bail out at our schools. our border patrol they're overworked as it is right now. they're spending more time babysitting the unaccompanied mines and these other people are coming through more and more. falling on our police department, our sheriff's department, our dps what border patrol agents they spare from that. it is just getting crazy. elizabeth: mayor what do you want the president biden and vice president harris, what would your message be to them? we have a top border official who oversees operations for the rio grande valley in texas? he is saying his team recently arrested 861 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions and

charges, including 92 sex offenders, 63 with gang ties? what is your message to the president and vice president? >> well, look, you keep saying there is not a crisis here at the border. there is. there is a crisis here at the border. you have 535 members in washington, d.c. that have been hiding behind a fence with barbed wire on it with 2500 national guardsmen. what about a quarter of a million people in south texas left in peril every night with people coming across the border at will? known criminals, known sex offenders, known murderers. we need to stop this. the border needs to be under control. there is right way to come. there is a wrong way to come. we'll reward the people across the border the first time? they already broken the law when they cross the border. we'lltell them welcome to america, don't worry about breaking the law, come on. what example are you setting there. we have a crisis down there.

i listen to people come own not a crisis at the border, it is made up this is not a republican thing. it is not a democratic thing. this is an american people thing. they need to address it for the american people. what happened to the oath of office we all took to uphold the laws of the united states to protect and serve? we're not protecting, serving the people of south texas what is going on. it is a calamity. most people at night, get nervous when their dogs start barking now. you don't know if there somebody trying to get in your house, what is going on outside now? there is nothing to stop it right now except local law enforcement. they're spread super thin. elizabeth: mr. mayor, we hear exactly what you're saying. we had texas senator ted cruz on our show. he released footage showing pa biden administration going so far to try to stop him from doing oversight of conditions at a heavily crowded, overcrowded facility at the border in texas. watch this. >> you work for the
