tearing down a proven strategy n a crisis from occurring throughout 2020 and did not replace that once you tour the migrant protection protocol and remain a mexico program and the agreements and other measures, it is time that they start to really understanding get real and try to fix the problem of the border at the moment. liz: to your point vice president kamala harris is supposedly setting the root causes, you wiped out trump's policies that were working and did not replace them. now there is chaos there talking about federal workers and other government agencies can you volunteer at the border, can you go work at the border, border patrol is also in chaos being pulled off their jobs at the border and criminals and bad actors try to cross with overcrowded facilities, complete

collapse and chaos. >> what we continue to hear which is concerning the root causes of the migration which i think is important but you can't solve the problem alone, we continue to see more and more reception centers and resources being thrown at this, what they are not doing their refusing immigration law in addressing the illegal activity and behavior and continue to send signals that it's okay to seek asylum a million and 9% don't qualify for asylum is an inhumane policy in a very dangerous policy and we see the results on some of the video of the children being thrown over the border wall where the 9-year-old child being left on the desert by themselves this is having real t consequences of continuing to encourage and suggest folks coming toom the border, that is not the most

humane policy. liz: even children reporting when they illegally cross human traffickers and drug traffickers assault them, this is been the reporting at "the evening edit" for four years, you do illegally you're putting yourself in danger, be safe go to the ports of entry into illegally and if you do it the wrong way you're going to get hurt, the root cause, does this mean throwing tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money to people in central america watchdogs a corrupt officials pocketke that money, kevin mccarthy republican says this is an insult to americans out of work. we get trying to fix the problem but it's tossing money at the problem is that in central america is not the way to fix it. >> some resources to the country build up their capacity to provide economicde opportunity o build up their asylum agreements and a good thing, what is been reported about spending checks

and they know that's a terrible idea and that's not going to stop anything you will continue to see the flood of illegal migration across our border and serious about enforcing the law we saw that in 2019 it's so frustrating that we went to this in 2019 and saw the result of enforcing the law and putting policies in place that provided a deterrent to ensure folks cannot walk across the border and remain in the u.s. for months and months and years at a time we'd gone directly back to that and you see a crisis, historic proportions that we have not seen in 20 years. liz: we hear you, the biden team talking about getting private sector companies to invest in central america, maybe that will work, we will stay on the story chad wolf you are terrific, come back soon, i am elizabeth macdonald, you been watching "the evening edit".
