10:55 pm
than it was two years ago a new fox news poll shows 46% of voters say it is worthwhile 33% say the same 50% say it's better, the numbers far different from june of 2018 were only 17% said border security was worse, part of the problemrd is in the numbers where people cross the border illegally, so nfar this year than all of 2020, joining is now national border patrol council president brandon judd, the mayor of yuma, arizona said the u.s. government is becoming the fact a part of the smuggling for the cartel as families cross the border and wait to be picked up, process and let go, what do you think about the statement from a a border city mayor. >> he is actually correct, the united states government is completing the smuggling cycle when people cross the board illegally they paid drug smugglers, human smugglers a large amount of money, then they come to the united states to get released into the united states
10:56 pm
and they're able to continue their journey to wherever they're going whether des moines, iowa, chicago, illinois, miami florida, they're going throughout the united states and their being released by the federal government after criminal cartel makes billions of dollars every single year. edward: you probably saw the vicesi president kamala harris saying she's focusing on covid it to theto make border for a visit as best as she can. we learned that show go to guatemala in june or the end of june so the white house press secretary saying this to fox news peter doocy. >> vice president harris says she's not going to the border yet because we have to deal with covid issues, what is she referring to. >> i would certainly have to ask your team specifically but i would tell you her focusus is nt on the border, it is on oraddressing the root causes in the northern triangle that's where the majority of the time
10:57 pm
has been spent on working with on a diplomatic level. >> her focus is not onho the border, who is watching the border. >> somebody that puts on a uniform and patrols the border on a daily basis, i can't tell you how disappointing that statement is, i wish i could tell you with a straight face that the american government has control of our borders, unfortunately i can't, cartel's criminal organization they control everything that is happening on the border, they understand what they need to do, they flood us with unaccompanied children and family units knowing that it overwhelms our resources and pulling our agents out of the field which allows them to create artificial gaps which allows them to smuggle in dangerous criminals and smuggling drugs which are going to the inner cities in a suburb killing our children, yet we don't have a vice president that is willing to come to the border
10:58 pm
and see for herself exactly what is going on, that is bad government. >> in a fox news poll when asked how much the increase due to president biden, 38% completely his fault, 18% said mostly his fault, those two are more than half of americans polled, is this administration being paid with this crisis? >> they should be and i hope that more and more americans are willing to tune in and do their research and understand what is driving the search, it is policy driven and driven by policies of the united states and president trump got rid of the catch and release magnet that drew so many people here when president biden reintroduced that magnet, that is the root cause, when vice president harris said she's gonna go toem guatemala to addrs the root causes, all we have to
10:59 pm
do is look at her own country, catch and release is the root cause that draws people here and invites them to cross our borders illegally, we have to address that and when we do we will drop illegal immigration to lows again, president trump already believe that, he implement off the margaret protection protocols and it dropped to historic lows, all we have to do is follow that example again. edward: in the last 30 seconds, you don't bully probably to another government is the way to stop the flow? >> the united states has never been good at building other governments, why should we go in and give money to a corrupt government for them to keep in the rich people's hands, we hav to address the issues in the united states not in another country. >> this is a story not going away especially in the near-term as the weather warms before is dangerously hot, we will see another influx. i am edward lawrence and for elizabeth macdonald, you are watching "the evening edit" on fox business, that does it for us, thank you for taking our and
