policies coming out of the white house. the right kind of policies would not allow these things to happen. let's take inflation for a moment. we all know the economy was ready to rebound coming out of the pandemic, vaccination rates were going up, going up rapidly. what did the administration do? they wanted to spend 2 trillion-dollars on projects we don't need and nobody wants. what do we have now? we have people not going to work and it is causing prices to rise because of the policies implemented by this administration. look at immigration. on day one president biden got rid of president trump's immigration enforcement orders. what did we see? the cartels sprang into action sending undocumented minors across our southern border with impunity making millions of dollars every day to boot. that is just two of the issues where this administration failed the american people. that is why we're seeing all these disasters. we have not even gotten to

foreign policy. elizabeth: we'll talk about that. go ahead on israel your take quick. >> on israel, number one we need to stand by the israelis at all time. they are right in this situation. the land is the land of israel hi property owners, they want to get paid for land being leased from them. we should stand strong against hamas and strong against their violence. elizabeth: let's move on to this. the senate panel deadlocked on a democrat bill to have the federal government control the votes in states. president had a bipartisan meeting on infrastructure spending. he quote, snapped my fingers, and the money is going to come. mitch mcconnell saying don't touch, you can't touch the 2017 tax cuts. that is the line in the sand there. so what's the dollar amount we're going to see on infrastructure spending? because the federal reserve is basically underwriting massive government spending right now. that is hitting the value of the u.s. dollar? >> listen right now, especially with the inflation report that

came out this morning the last thing this place needs to talk about is infrastructure. don't get me wrong, there are infrastructure needs in the united states. but what we have done through reckless fiscal policy over the last several months we have made our dollars be far more expensive for the average american. if you pass a infrastructure bill, where will you get materials from? you talk to homebuilders, they can barely get enough wood. elizabeth: all right, congressman byron donalds, good to have you on. come back soon, okay. >> definitely. good to be with you. elizabeth: let's bring in macro trend advisors founding partner mitch roschelle. your reaction to the colonial pipeline up and running? looks like it will come back online. how will that hit the markets tomorrow? >> i think it is good news. listen, consumers are dealing inflation right now. the last thing they needed to deal with is standing in line, waiting in line for gasoline. gasoline has become the toilet paper of this year. i think it is good news for consumers. the fact of the matter, if you look at inflation numbers today,

the inflation number was 4.2%. take out food and energy it is 3%. energy costs are already a big component of driving prices up for consumers. so the good news at least we won't see price inflation as a result of the pipeline but there are enough forces in the economy driving forces up. elizabeth: mitch, inflation at the highest in 13 years at 4.2% as you just said. is it really bad or just, does it just look bad because it compares to the connie in a downturn last year do you to shutdowns? >> i think there is a little of that. there are too anecdotal situations. the congressman mentioned materials prices. food prices are going up. i think the big thing no one is talking about, liz, why i don't think this is transitory, i think labor prices are going up right now because if you can't find workers because they're incentivized to not work because of the enhanced payments they're getting for unemployment you have to pay more than the

government is paying them. and once you start driving up wage costs i think you drive them up structurally, they stay up for a while. while the fed is shaking this off, saying it is transitory for the reason you mentioned, there are too many headwinds in terms of prices with all the money sloshing around the economy, chasing too few things, think we will have the problem for a while. elizabeth: eight million job openings but only 260,000 people got a job last month. in massachusetts, saying we have a labor shortage. people are happy to take a hand outs until labor day when they run out. even democrat senators are saying wait a second. we don't want to keep paying people not to work. senator joe manchin, senator maggie hassan of new hampshire making it easy for people to stay at home. schools not reopening, due to teachers unions, lack of child

care also to blame for people staying home. how does this end? >> well i'm fearful that we're waiting until september for it to end because i really don't think that small owners can handle sort of more headwinds not being able to find workers as part of it. we saw the national federation of independent businesses last month in april said that they had to increase prices at the highest amount they have done since 1981. so i really worry that if small businesses that are the backbone of our economy can't find workers, we certainly have a skills gap right now. that is one of the biggest problems people are having to retrain themselves, i do think this labor issue needs to get fixed quickly. elizabeth: got it. mitch roschelle, thanks for joining us, good to see you. >> same here, liz. elizabeth: still ahead, gop congresswoman lauren bob better will weigh in on energy secretary jennifer granholm making a major move over her

>> i don't know that it is true. that is the first word i heard of it. they should do sanctions. but if we're looking to do sanctions with a company why in the world would we try to do a climate agreement with a country or any other type of agreement with china right now? china is hacking into a lot of our technology right now and now they're, we have proven they're using slave labor to produce this green new deal solar panels that democrats are obsessed with converting our energy policy into. i think it's a terrible precedent to do any major agreement with china when we know any agreement that joe biden is going to sign with china china will have the upper hand. i'm glad john kerry came today. i'm surprised i am saying that. he is truthful and we have problems with china. elizabeth: what is the oversight of john kerry's climate office? who is in that office? state department already has a ocean and environmental unit.
