put jobs and pipelines in russia ahead of u.s. pipelines. when they by the stroke of the pen eliminate the keystone pipeline, firing tens of thousands of hard-working americans and where their secretary of energy even testified and says that pipelines are good for the environment and they work it, doesn't make sense, how that they would allow russia to have more of an influence in europe and allow them to be able to supply more natural gas is unacceptable. elizabeth: so what changed? in order nord stream 2 is a german company controlled by gazprom, russian giant, controlled by a former east german officer close to russian president vladmir putin? what changed at the confirmation hearing, i am determined to stop the nord stream 2, because russia is trying to divide europe and weaken energy security? what changed? >> looking at it all globally,

by allowing this without a doubt it allows this administration get closer to entering into the iran agreement which i think would be absolutely demonstrating. this administration says one thing, does the other. it has been very consistent in every process they have been involved in, whether spending, whether taxing. we're seeing it on the world stage, national security issues. elizabeth: so you're saying this is a prelude to getting back into the iran deal? a setup for that, is that what you're saying? >> absolutely. without a doubt, definitely it is allowing the russians to have greater influence within europe. this is a way the administration can start pushing it. also this administration, anything that donald trump was for or opposed they are the complete opposite. that is exactly what we saw with what has created the border crisis. they're now doing it with the national security. and so, the fact that biden, the fact that president trump put sanctions in regards to this, they're now moving it. elizabeth: okay.

all right. we have the energy secretary, jennifer granholm testifying today. she tried to walk back her comment that, quote, pipe is the best way to transport fuel. watch this testy, fiery exchange on capitol hill today. watch. >> madam secretary, did the administration cancel the pipeline because of politics, because it was clearly not for climate benefits because it is going to increase climate, it will increase carbon emissions. >> no. it canceled them the president made this commitment because he believed that there are other ways to go especially in promoting clean energy and -- >> but you said that, but you said that pipe is the cleanest way to. >> safest way to move fuel. >> colonial is the only way to get gasoline from one place to another along that seaboard because there aren't deepwater ports to be able to allow tankers. elizabeth: so this sort of feels, confusing right? we hear the dhs second defending

pipelines as critical infrastructure. are we wrong, is this confusing? so what is going on here? >> liz, they don't pay attention to facts. they're not consistent. the fact that the secretary said one thing about the cleanest, best way to move new fuel is through a pipeline and she is denying it there. i have a lot of concerns with, is we're here this secretary, stood in front of the world last week and said you know what? we wouldn't have a gas crisis if people drove more electric cars? guess what? this same secretary has millions of dollars in stock options to electric car batteries and electric car vehicles. that is unacceptable. this administration is all about rewarding their friends, their political allies, their donors and this is just being consistent. elizabeth: the energy secretary also blamed gas shortages at one point on the virus.

now the other thing, they're talking about a carbon tax, taxing everybody on carbon uses, usage, factories, farms, construction companies, consumers. congressman jason smith, it is good to see you come back soon. >> thank you, liz. elizabeth: get right at it this next case, former doj prosecutor jim trusty is with us right now. how serious for former president trump that attorney general is joining in the manhattan attorney in investigation into the trump organization? the president will do his maga rallies again. >> the merger of the state ag with the manhattan da's office doesn't have practical effect that the trump organization will be charged with something. back to the bay i basics, liz, t it is striking to me they announce doing criminal investigations into people or

organizations. that is not what ethical prosecutions is about. you don't prejudge getting it out to the media by going after somebody with criminal charges. i don't know how we got use to that in this day and age, maybe it is the rule this year, if it is trump you break ethics. it will or not have blow back tore the investigators, but i suspect not with the media treats people going after trump. it doesn't bode well for people like me looking at it within 30 years in the criminal justice system to see prosecutors acting this way. elizabeth: we hear you, it's true what you're saying is that we haven't seen this before where we see criminal prosecutions leaked to the media, damaging a person's rep attention. if you take out the name trump. the probe is whether the trump organization inflated the value of its assets to lenders and insurers in order to secure loans to get economic and tax

benefits. the underlying theme here, again this is just speculation that this sounds like bank fraud and tax fraud. this feels like the leaks are alleging. the former president has blasted the investigation as politically motivated, calling it corrupt. he is saying all i get is unfairly attacked and abused. this is ongoing. what's the end result here? where do you think this leads? >> this is interesting, letitia james as the state attorney general, very high-profile, very happy to get in front of the cameras to announce things she is looking into cuomo's sexual harassment, going after the nra, opening a criminal probe now against the trump organization, none of it has come to fruition. doesn't mean it won't but we don't have any idea she has the type of evidence to back that up. so we're really not sure she has. cyrus vance, the d.a. ever manhattan, this guy stood up and had a press conference the day

elizabeth: joining us now texas congressman louie gohmert. you got a warning for not wearing a mask in the chamber last night. four house republicans were fined. so that is your warning. can you tell us what happened? >> well, we are really outraged. we're told we need to follow the science but we have a speaker far more concerned with politics with, control, with optics, which you know, sergeant-at-arms apparently said was the reason they wouldn't bring in the national guard it to protect the capitol on january 6th. it is all about optics for these

people. it is trying to convince people that oh, it is a terribly dangerous place to work. the only thing is, liz, is that the chief of capitol police told the entire republican caucus that there is no intelligence from any source whatsoever that any members is a threat to any other member. there is no need for the metal detectors. same thing nor the masks. now the cdc is actually admitted, and you know, cdc is not fauci. he is kind of like keynes as an economist. churchhill said you would have an unlimited number of opinions with sir keynes spoke. that is where fauci is but the cdc says you know, they're not necessary in this situation like what we have here in the house of representatives. elizabeth: so it sounds like, you're saying that the democrats

are playing politics with this. >> yeah. elizabeth: put out kind of the feeling and the message only democrats can keep you safe. you know, but what message does this by the way say about vaccines? is this sending the wrong message about vaccines? the cdc says, okay if you are vaccinated you don't need to wear masks. where is the science in all of this? >> well the science is if you're still wearing a mask and you're not a threat to anybody, then you're either crazy or you're all about control and of course we've seen the president wearing masks off by himself in the great outdoors, so you might make your decision, is he about control or is he crazy? well, that is for others to decide. elizabeth: you know, congressman, it feels like what you're seeing and you know, this fight about wearing masks is a microcosm what is going on across the country.

for the first time since the pandemic began you know this, covid cases are down in all 50 states. >> yeah. elizabeth: 16 states have no covid deaths. hospitalizations are going down. nearly four in 10 have been fully vaccinated. we have half the country, half the states say you don't need to wear masks. >> right. elizabeth: you have this fight in d.c., what is the look for the rest of the country what we're seeing happening in washington? >> we were just getting screamed at on the house floor over the desire for this commission and the message was, you know, why can't you be bipartisan? you know the 9/11 commission was worked out. i got up on the floor things have changed since 9/11. back then the democratic party could actually condemn anti-semitic remarks from one of its members. it could and now it won't.

back then we agreed on all kinds of things. both sides of the aisle sang god bless america back then. the president can't even invoke the name of god on national day of prayer. things have changed dramatically with 9/11. with one party it is not not for the good. elizabeth: getting back to masks. we have video of a 10-year-old boy who gave impassioned speech to the school board in florida, begging the school to lift mask mandates. let's watch this. >> i know my teacher has asthma and everything but i understand why it is hard for her to wear a mask. i think she should have that choice but i should too. i feel really anxious with my face covered but i'm not allowed a mask break like her. it seems unfair. it seems unfair around it doesn't make sense. i miss seeing people's face. i miss the way things used to be. i'm scared they will never go

52% of americans don't trust the cdc at all. it is for three reasons. they're talking about masks outdoors for some people. that is ridiculous. they're clinging to the outdated summer camp guidance they put out. that is absurd. there should be no restrictions for summer camps. ignored natural immunity alienating half the country that had the infection in the past. they put out more numbers creating a dire picture, 37% of the population has been vaccinated. they should be say 80% of the population is immune. at least one dose plus natural immunity combined. that is why cases are collapsing right now. elizabeth: you know, doctor, dr. fauci told abc he was wearing a mask indoors for show for optics not based on science, to create an impression even though he was vaccinated.

he is saying masks but what is the message on vaccines and efficacy on vaccines? >> well, look i never thought i would say this but please ignore what our public health officials are saying. ignore the cdc guidance and let's make it very simple so everybody can understand what to do. everyone should live a normal life after this point unless you've not had the infection and you're not vaccinated in which case you need to be careful a little bit longer. we have completely distorted per session of risk out there and it is interesting the only tough questions to hold dr. fauci and dr. wollensky come during their hearings, not during everyone of thousands of interviews with the mainstream media. those are the questions right now we need answered. elizabeth: you know, here's the thing, we've seen this from the beginning with dr. fauci, it's a tough spot, you know it to be a health official, but he said in the beginning you don't need to wear masks. he admitted i was saying that

because i wanted to conserve masks for hospital workers. he admitted to "new york times" he was changing the goalpost on herd immunity when he saw polls half of all americans would take a vaccine. he said herd immunity would be 70, 75%, when polls showed 60% would take a vaccine. i will nudge it up that herd immunity is 80, 58%. then he said we really don't know what the real number is, you know what i mean? seriously, what is he doing? >> well he is moving the goalpost as lot and i think people are seeing through it now. early on to be very honest with you, liz, i saw right through dr. fauci. if you go back to watch the tapes, early when many of us were sounding the alarm the pandemic was about to hit we were talking to many leaders in government at the highest levels of government and over and over again we were told dr. fauci says we're going to be okay. he says there is nothing to worry about. i think it is important to show some humility around a virus

people don't investigate it. elizabeth: you know, ford he is saying, yeah, talking about the wuhan lab, the point is china accredited its own lab as a biosafety level four. china itself gave that level to the wuhan lab. what needs to be debated is, open the books, show us the money, show us where the money went, and talk about how dangerous viruses like smallpox and sars have escaped from viruses. from laboratories, right? show us what the u.s. is funding. that's it. elizabeth: look, you're absolutely -- >> you're absolutely right. we need transparency when it comes to covid. we need transpare currency when where the u.s. money went. we had three million people die from covid, okay? there has been very little transparency about the origins of it. we don't know definitely it came from the wuhan lab but it is pretty clear here. that is not a tinfoil hat rant. that is the evidence right in

calling out american airlines, nike, coca-cola for putting politics before customers. it is consumer research. what do you say to this? >> it is about time someone pointed out the hypocrisy which is quite astonishing, hypocrisy from woke corporate executives n the case of nike you have a situation where at the same time the corporate executives at nike are bowing to political pressure from colin kaepernick to cancel the betsy ross nike sneaker because of some reference or allusion to the slave era in the united states. we find out that they are sourcing from a bipartisan congressional report, nike is sourcing their sneakers from slave labor in the shenzhen province from the uyghurs. on top of that when congress passed overwhelming huge
