up, but they're in the system, they're in the process of deportation at that point. and, of course, this administration doesn't want to deport people. so it isn't just an admission of catch and release, it's an admission that they're not even starting deportation proceedings against people who they pick up in the desert in between ports of entry who clearly came across the border illegally. complete abandonment -- elizabeth: okay, so government -- we hear you. government data shows since january 62,000, more than 62,000 so far have been released. more than 61,000 since president biden sat down. no one knows who they are. there are a lot of single males in this, and people showing up as "the new york times" reported from 160 countries from around the world, including the middle east and asia. so who are these people? >> right. so the point is we don't know, and the part of the purpose of detaining people is to ascertain as much of that information as

are pro-immigration. they're for immigration. they just want it done legally -- >> legal immigration, right. elizabeth: immigrants say don't come illegally, it's not father. it's suspect -- it's not fair. it's suspected 2 million will cross illegally this year, and senator marsha marsha blackburns saying, you know, she's asking how is the biden administration spending u.s. taxpayer money to break the law by allowing illegal border crossings? >> and that's exactly what they're doing. you had that bill by senators sinema and cornyn where they were going to fund pa facilitating this instead of funding actual enforcement of the law. it makes no sense to give this department of homeland security more money to actively implement a policy of breaking the law. that is not what the department of homeland security was instituted for, but it is what the biden administration is

doing with it, and it makes no sense for congress to fund this further and to do anything other than what senator blackburn is doing, and that is question them at every step about why they're not following the law. elizabeth: yeah. final word -- [inaudible conversations] >> next week they're going to have hearings on the new uscis, they're talking about a deputy secretary, my old position. these people should not be confirmed without firm commitments from them to actually enforce the law. and if you look at their resumés, that is not what they have done in the past. elizabeth: yeah. we've got five republicans on education and labor sending a letter to hhs and the dhs saying you are creating a child safety crisis with your border policies. >> yes. elizabeth: is so your final word on that. >> that's absolutely true. the biden administration is serving as a critical link in the human trafficking chain with drug cartels from mexico.
