"the evening edit" starts right now. ♪. elizabeth: let's go right to washington d.c., with more on president biden now otherrerring the intelligence community to investigate the origins of the covid virus amid a report his administration quietly ended a trump state department probe into that very question. fox reporter kevin corke with us now with more. reporter: evening mac president biden issued a statement he is frankly dissatisfied with the intelligence he received so far

into the origins of covid-19 saying quote, i have now asked the intelligence community top redouble their efforts to collect and analyze information that could bring us closer to a definitive conclusion. and a report back to me in 90 days. the president adding frankly are two camps in the ic. that is the intelligence community. one believes the virus occurred naturally and another believes it did leak from the wuhan lab. both have low to moderate confidence in their findings according to the president's statement. the state department meanwhile is pushing back on widely spread report yesterday that it shut down the small state department team at the burrow of arms control verification was looking into the origins of the covid-19 virus. that was reported just about everywhere yesterday. here is a statement today from state department spokesman ned price. he says that reporting is incorrect. in february and march of 2021 the team's findings were briefed

>> we don't know what we don't know. we know we have informants and whistle-blowers within the ic who come forward to say a lot of their concerns were suppressed so that is number one. number two, this whole issue this unit in the state department wasn't shut down is absolutely preposterous. they completely eliminated the unit in its entirety. so look, all we did on our committee was we were actually able to, the republicans that is, were able to take all sorts of open source information. we put it all into a report. everyone can go to read it if you go to my website. we found so much information. on the other hand there is no information that would support or intelligence for that matter that i have ever seen that would support the intelligence community's assessment a year ago which looks to be at this point purely political and if i take you back and walk your viewers back to what was going on at that time, liz, was we had

nancy pelosi running around chinatown saying donald trump an republicans were racists. there was no need to ban flights. fauci saying you didn't need to wear a mask. all this was occurring at at the same time. what happened in the intelligence agencies, bureaucracy seems to be rotting from within, rotten to the core which was, hey, we have to continue this narrative that republicans are race histories. so do we need to do. we need to make sure we come out to say intelligence believes this clearly something happened out in the wild. the only evidence for that would be that the chinese communist party said it and the world health organization which ran a bogus investigation with zero credibility which numerous experts have seen said that, they followed up on behalf of the chinese communist party. there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence that this was not naturally occurring. look, i just think the way this virus spreads as contagious as it is, as strange as it's been, i think most americans know this

doesn't seem to be naturally occurring. elizabeth: yeah. they haven't found the animal intermediary, the host for this yet. they studied 80,000 different animal samples. that wuhan lab, you know this, had tens of thousands of virus samples. the w.h.o. director says investigate the lab leak theory. 18 scientists including from mit, cal tech, stanford, harvard, yale, say investigate it. cdc director says it's a possibility. dr. fauci says he is open to this. you know we found footage, you know the doctor at echo health alliance that got money from the nih and turned around the wuhan lab's research. dr. peter dash schick. throwing cold water on the lab leak theory. he is saying that is not true. he admits in tape we're about to show that yes, he has been researching researching the viruses inside of china for six to seven years and he worked

was another part of that sound that we needed to show, that yes, they did work on creating, developing in order to get vaccines a spike protein that they were manipulating the virus inside of the lab to put a spike protein inside of the virus. this time frame false squarely under the obama administration. your reaction to the sound? >> i would say this, we know the peoples liberation army, the china neat communist army operates has biological warfare capabilities they're operating out of this lab. couple that with what this gentleman said, and you look at our report there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence and you have also to take into account what i said earlier, why would we be following the chinese communist party's talking points? this is only one that says this came from some dude that ate a

bat. i'm being facetious about it. that is essentially with they said. a year later they have zero evidence that. you would think not covering everything up and not being truthful they would come out and really get ahead of this, get us all sorts of information. they have had over a year to do it. they're not doing it. you put all of this together. i think it becomes pretty clear that, this was likely some type of a modified virus to some degree that probably leaked out. elizabeth: you know, dr. fauci in a "washington post" op-ed in 2011 said, yes, create a lab generated virus not seen in nature. he coauthored that op-ed. in 2015 the scientists leading the wuhan lab wrote an article saying, yeah the nih did fund us, and yeah, we created a chimeric hybrid virus not seen in nature inside of our lab. out of wuhan lab the scientists are saying this covid-19 virus

infecting people around the world, it doesn't exist in wuhan, it only exists in subtropical china. here are the key questions, who signed off on this research? who approved the money flow under the obama administration? what controls were put in place? and what are taxpayers getting for their money here? >> yeah, if you go back, where we were 10 days ago? republicans on the house intelligence committee came out and said, told biden we have 25 questions for you. we made that public. actually fox news broke that, broke it with your own maria bartiromo on her sunday show. then a few days later we issue a report. now all of sudden you have all the fake news out there and everybody now saying oh, this might have been possible. let me take you back a year ago when senator cotton was raising these concerns. you had president trump, secretary pompeo, directorate --

director radcliffe. everybody was looking at intelligence, something seems to be missing here. how about applying a little common sense? you raise this issue with fauci not being totally clear with the senate where this $100 million went to ecohealth. you will cover later in the show in more depth but they're is $100 million of u.s. taxpayer money that went somewhere and so the idea that we would even be working on these types of viruses doing this kind of work, i understand there could be some health benefits but what is clear here is, when you have the chinese communist party that is trying to take over the world we ought to be cutting off everything with china at this point. that is really what is kind of strange here is, why would biden go in and shut down the operation in the state department that he did? why would it take this long? why would it have to be house republicans who are in the minority we would have to come out to put pressure ultimately 10 days later, they're finally doing what they should have done, they should have continued

that doesn't involve in this administration getting involved in people's personal lives. i think it is irresponsible. he is weaponizing, honestly the federal government against the american people, against the oil and gas industry, and just about everything else. when you look at what the administration has done since january 20th, he doesn't place this administration, does not place the american people first. elizabeth: yeah. so you know there is, the little talk about that we broke the news about the irs getting this info earlier in the month but you bring up energy. so the irs could hit people's wallets. energy cost are pitting people's wallets. republican senator tim scott is talking to the bank ceos today about how the biden administration and climate envoy john kerry saying to the banks stop giving loans to oil and gas companies, debank oil and gas. how much further does this go, sir? >> well, it is because we know that this administration of

joe biden they have, there is and all-out war on the oil and gas industry. and he demonstrated this back on january 20th with canceling the keystone pipeline. he knew that would hurt the oil and gas industry but the sad fact is, it hurts the end user, the consumer. look what happened here just recently with the colonial pipeline attack. individuals from not even from this country that have hurt the american people by by getting into our energy infrastructure. gas prices were $7 on the east coast. gas stations were shut down without any fuel. and so the biden administration is more concerned about helping adversaries like russia than he is the american people. again it really doesn't surprise me. he is weaponizing. he is taking the federal government, using it to really and all out war against our oil and gas industry.

elizabeth: russia, china are in an energy boom right now inside of their countries. president joe biden said he lifted sanctions on russia's nord stream pipeline 2 in germany because it was quote, nearly finished and the president didn't want to hurt the relationship with european countries. keystone was finished 10 years ago. his killing keystone destroyed relationships with thousand of workers that lost their jobs including union workers. how do you square this logic? >> you can't believe anything that the man says anymore. i mean january 20th he gave the great speech about working with his friends on the right, his friends on the other side of the aisle, about bipartisanship working together. they were he has all these executive orders such as canceling the keystone pipeline. let's forget about drilling on federal wetlands and this and that. so we knew, we knew that was going to hurt the oil and gas industry and so did he.

inflation is here. first quarter it is 7 1/2% annualized. that is big. that is a tax on the middle class. he is saying democrats could lose because inflation fueled, led to the elections of former president richard nixon in 1968 and former president ronald reagan in 1980. is that, is it that big of a threat right now? >> i think it's a huge threat. i do see comparisons between former president jimmy carter and president joe biden. i think that is, that is a serious, i believe that analogy is correct when we're looking at economic situation we're in right now. if you look at the rise in our debt, 28 trillion alone right now, they're saying that our debt is going to exceed the size of the economy by 107% this year. that is enormous. that is debilitating. worse yet, they want to keep on putting huge, massive trillion dollar proposals together and have the largest tax hike in american history to pay for all of this, compound it on the american people.

elizabeth: you know stanley drunkenmiller and other wall street pros, stanley drunkenmiller, you have to listen to him. he made the right profitable bet on, excuse me, great britain sterling leaving the european exchange rate mechanism in 1992. that sounds wonky. they're talking about the u.s. dollar loses its reserve status around the world. people say listen, u.s. treasurys will not be a safe asset anymore with the money printing and borrowing. that the u.s. won't be able to borrow more cheaply than other countries, something we enjoyed since world war ii. because biden is destroying the credibility of the dollar with higher inflation. you know what i mean? >> yeah. elizabeth: after world war ii the u.s. was pumping out factories, the dollar became the global reserve currency. could we lose that status. >> absolutely. that helps when you devalue the dollar, when that happens we'll help our adversaries in china and russia.

possibility but cnn is politicizing it saying trump is pushing this. they're blaming trump as pushing this theory to distract from his mismanagement of the pandemic. what do you say? >> well, thanks for having me on, if you've been watching cnn for the past 15 months you know according to them everything we did was anti-science, racist, politically motivated or all of the above and i think their heads are spinning around because they're now realizing that president trump, secretary pompeo and all of us were correct, the most likely source of this was the wuhan laboratory. i think they just can't deal with it but the facts remain. i concluded this march, the cdc director concluded earlier than that the most likely source was the wuhan lab. now you're seeing that play out. elizabeth: doctor, scientists we keep talking to say the coronavirus with the spike protein they haven't found it in nature. they have not found the intermediary host for it.

this. california governor omarosa manigault newman's office has been ordered to pay to local los angeles church -- governor gavin newsom, because that church broke the governor's lockdown rules because they lost the case in court. now democrat governor is being hauled into court having to pay up. what do you say? >> well i think there is probably a lot of people who are pretty frustrated with some of these lockdown measures a long time. i understand that is part of human nature. a lot of people around the country will give some wiggle room to public officials, benefit of the doubt. this is a really tough environment. we're dealing a one in a general race pandemic, but where you start to really permanently tick people off when you are very heavy handed with rules for everyone that you get caught breaking yourself and that tends to put people over the edge in terms of maybe filing that lawsuit. maybe going to court. maybe campaigning against you. when you're up for election next time because it is that
