♪ ♪ elizabeth: welcome to the show. you're watching the fox business network. we begin with texas governor greg abbott. he will now build a southern border wall in texas and also barriers in easy-to-cross areas. he says he will arrest and jail illegal immigrants on state charges if they do things like trespass. let's welcome back u.s. representative john debt coe. -- john tet coe. this will set up a major constitutional battle about federal authority and state' rights. where do you come down on it? >> will listen, we have to secue border, and i applaud any governor who's trying to do what the federal government should be doing. president biden, on january 20th, basically put out a welcome sign to illegal immigration, and now it's up 675%. that's illegal crossings are up

675%. and in may alone, 40,000 individuals came across the boarder from place other than mexico and central america, and another 140,000 came as cross from mexico and central america. that's a stunning thing. it's leaving us very dangerous, and we have to do something about it. i applaud the governor for taking a tough stance. elizabeth: he's saying he'll get around any supreme court challenge because illegal border crossers interfere with texas' new border wall, they will have committed state crimes like criminal mischief and criminal trespass and vandalism of state property. to your point, almost 34,000 people from countries outside central america showed up at the u.s. southern border in april. 34,000 from 150 countries. they're coming through panama. panama is seeing an influx from asia and the middle east and africa. but, you know, getting back to what's happening with the border, with what arizona and texas are doing, will the 48

other governors, should they step up and send law enforcement there? that's what these two governors want. what do you think? >> i think we need to do whatever we have to do to secure border. president biden and vice president harris have abdicated their respondents to keep us safe. and it's -- responsibilities to keep us safe. don't forget, every single person that comes across the border and doesn't go through a port of entry is crossing into this country illegally, so every single one of them is committing a crime. how does it affect places like my area in upstate new york? the drugs because of the influx at the border as well and all the resources have to be focused op individuals coming across. it's leaving gaping hole in our security against drugs. fentanyl and heroin drug seizures are up in astronomical numbers. so it's vital that we work together to try and stop this. and all the president has to do rescind his orders from january 20th, and he's not going to do that. it's a very dangerous thing he's doing because people are coming

in from scores of countries all over the world because they know our southern border is a sieve right now, and it's very dangerous. elizabeth: you know, you and senator portman made the point that it used to be that drug cartels were shipping drugs into the u.s. using the post office. you guys shut that loophole, but now they're distracting border patrol with often i companied -- unaccompanied children. and what these golfs are says -- governors are saying, this is a 50-state issue. border security hits all 50 states. this is what i think you're pointing out. let's listen to what one mayor is saying is going on in his area. wash watch this. >> i can name some of them. they've been from iraq, from iran, they've been from china, they've been from russia, they've been from the congo. right now it's a big surge of venezuelans, they're from cuba, honduras, el salvador. i don't even have a complete list of all the 73 countries, but it just, it keeps growing

and growing and growing. here lately they've been jumping out and bailing out by our local elementary schoolses. so we've had to put the elementary schools on lockdown, and we had to bring more law enforcement in to search for these individuals. you know, 90% of these cars that we're catching now, we're finding loaded firearms in them. elizabeth: yeah. to he's saying they've got -- so he's saying they've got weapons and things like knives, sir. this is what the border cities and towns have been desperately trying to draw attention to. your word on that. >> well, listen, i started out my clear as a federal organized crime prosecutor, and i did so for 20 years in el paso, texas, and i was going after cartel-level drug traffickers. you cannot pass the border without paying the cartels money. the cartels, therefore, control the border. they control not only the flow of illegals, but they control the flow of drugs. is so what they're doing is they're captainizing on e --

capitalizing on illegal coming across. biden is inare riching the cartels. -- enriching. we're also able to control the pinch points for drug shipments because they'll send 100 people across, let's say in the rio grande, and border patrol agents come off their post to go help with that surge, they bring the drugs in the back door, and that's affecting us. and another thing that people need to understand is the biden administration's putting these people on planes when they come across and them telling them at some future date they may have to appear in court, not giving them the necessary paperwork. we don't the know who they are, they don't have any identification. and those people -- often times they go into those cities where the cartel members meet them, and they're paying off their debt to get across because these people don't have $4,000 in pocket, and they're working for the cartel in cities all over

the country. it's amazing to me -- yeah, they are. and vice president harris is not going to the border because she doesn't want to go to the scene of the crime like a good prosecutor would do. she wants to turn a blind eye because if she goes there, they're going to tell you exactly what i just told you. elizabeth: all right. congressman john katko, thanks for coming on. come back soon. let's bring in former acting i.c.e. director tom homan. okay, the move by the texas governor -- it's good to see you, tom -- the texas governor and the arizona governor, this is the rebuke of president biden and vice president harris. what do you say? >> i say governor abbott is an american patriot. he's taking it upon himself. look, it's not just a humanitarian crisis. governor abbott recognizes this is a national security crisis. as you just said, liz, you know, the cartels, they'll send these family groups and kids across so they can send the drugs. 1,000-1,500 got-aways a day. who are they?

gang members, future terrorists? we don't know, and that's a problem. governor abbott is not only protecting the citizens of texas, he's protecting the united states a because as the congressman just said, they're not staying in texas. when i was on an airplane two weeks ago, they were going to boston, new york, philadelphia, seattle, chicago. known as sanctuary cities, of course. they're going all over the country. governor abbott's got it right. he's defending this country, not just texas. elizabeth: you know, princeton university ranks president biden's first year in office as among the ten worst when it comes to border crises. let's watch the vice president again laugh and snap at a reporter who asked when are you going to go to the boarder? the president put you in charge of it about three months ago. watch this. >> i've said i'm going to the border -- >> when are you going to the border, vice president? >> the administration has -- i'm not finished. >> i am, will keep you posted. elizabeth: okay. we've also got breaking news right now, tom. former vice president michael pence tweeted out a tweet that is slamming the vice president for not going to the border and showing imagery of him appearing there. so, you know, basically we're seeing this just ratcheting higher in d.c. as a real problem for the administration. where is nancy pelosi? where is' chuck schumer, where is the squad? we've got toddlers being dropped over border walls, infants who can't even walk abandoned in the desert, children crying. a they're being used and abused by the drug cartels. where's the squad? where's nancy pelosi on this? two first of all, kamala harris' lack of engagement is disgusting. she's the vice president of of the united states. children are dying, they are drowning, dying in the river,

women are being raped. the criminal cartels are making billions, fentanyl's flowing across the border at a higher rate than anytime in history because of this crisis. again, humanitarian crisis to a national security crisis, and she giggles. she goes to foreign countries and talks to people down there, to the leadership down there where the people are fleeing from and refuses to talk to the men and women on the border, the experts. why? because she don't want to hear what they have to say. it's her policies -- she wants root causes? her policies, the biden administration's policies, the immigrants who come across the border who i've talked to last four or five times, they all tell me they're coming because biden has opened the door. she needs to do her job, and by giggling it's just an insult to the american people, an insult to the lives lost, an insult ott men and women who are securing the border and putting their lives on the line. as far as aoc and the squad? i don't know where they're at.

congresswoman ashley hinson of the house subcommittee on homeland security. it's great to have you on. china is sending messages through its state media that it can help with president biden's coming inflation trap from his blow government spending. basically saying, this is an embarrassing message to the president, that china is saying if you lift trump's tariffs and trump's sanctions on china technology, that we can be a shock absorber to your inflation. what do you say to this? >> well, i think it's very clear, liz, that president biden's economic policies are taking this country in the wrong direction. we started to sound the alarm on the spending spigot that has been turned on months ago, and it's very clear that the policies are benefiting communist china over the american worker. i think the best weapon we have is to revitalize our economy, get to our economy going with those economic policies, not giving that hand up to a country like china which, obviously, has been very clear about their intentions in taking on america, taking on our intellectual

property, taking over our debt. so i think it is, you're right, it's a very embarrassing message to be sending, and the biden policies are clearly taking our country in the wrong direction. iowan wans are paying more than they have since my youngest was in diapers eight year ago. elizabeth: this was a threat for the democrats, university of michigan is saying americans have never been this unhappy about sticker shock since 1982. we're seeing that inflation is, you know, inflation is a regressive tax. it hits the poor and the working class, and china's saying, listen, you keep buying our cheap chinese goods, we keep buying your treasury paper, that way we help you finance your monster budget deficit that the federal reserve has been floating on its own overstretched balance sheet. i mean, the federal reserve balance sheet in 2008 was $208 billion, now it's at $10 trillion. >> right. we talk about the package we saw

passed included those enhanced unemployment benefits. iowa, obviously, those benefits go away tomorrow, so our employers are ready and waiting with those help wanted signs. we need to give our economy the shot in the arm that it needs to recover, not continuing to give a hand up to countries like china. nancy pelosi and the democrats in congress continue to talk about these huge price tags. that's only going to exacerbate the problem. we need to get people back to work so that the price of goods and services can stabilize in this country. clearly, we've seen that the biden administration's not listening to the heartland, those kitchen table conversations are clearly not resonating in those backroom conversations at the white house. elizabeth: but i want to get to what china's doing. so, you know, china -- let me back up. we've been reporting what china's been doing for decades with buying u.s. treasury -- >> right. elizabeth: the storyline is that they won't sell the debt because they don't want to hurt their own massive holdingsing.

they could stop buying, or they could revalue their yuan higher to make their own goods more expensive, and that would send sticker shock even higher in the u.s. for chinese goods sold here. so so they could export inflation into our country as well. so does fed chair jerome powell and the president realize they're throwing money at a problem that doesn't exist anymore? covid shutdowns are over. states opened up a long time ago, and chipotle and other companies are saying, listen, jobless benefits are keeping people out of the work force. 9 million job openings right now, jobs not filled yet. what do you say? final word. >> i say do it like we've done it in iowa. we've opened up. we are the number one state in terms of recovery from this pandemic, and it's for a reason. people are back to work, we've got shots in arms, and that's exactly what we needed to do, and that's exactly what this country needs to do, not give the upper hand to countries like

did hunter biden go to u.s. government officials, did he go to the u.s. ambassador to this country or that country, was he asking special favors of american government officials. i think that gets into a place, well, where it's going to be really difficult for the department of justice to ignore that. elizabeth: yeah. we hear what you're saying. john solomon, the reporter, is speaking out via e-mails. this is not a case of him leveraging his father's name to get a deal to be paid a million dollars a year when his father was overseeing you crane and hunter biden's famous -- ukraine. and hunter biden's trip aboard air force two to beijing s and apparently he didn't get enough business out of china, so he's trying to get a meeting with the chinese ambassador to the u.s. to do even more business. he's also corresponding with the uae ambassador to the u.s., the french ambassador to the u.n., leaders in italy.

so you're right, this feels next level up. >> yeah. and here's the thing, i think there's three scandals here. one, what hunter biden was doing. he was basically selling the patrimony to of the united states to make a buck, and he was not just selling an introduction to dad and a photo opportunity, he was selling out the united states. but the second scandal to me is where's the department of justice? there are e-mail after e-mail after e-mail that are just accumulating to show that there was a lot of wrong doing. so where's the justice department? why aren't they investigating? and then, finally, where the heck is the media? they're covering it up. elizabeth: i mean, they went after general michael flynn over foreign lobbying, george papadopoulos, you know in we've got breaking news for you. russia's vladimir putin telling cbs that relations with the u.s. are at their worst level. your reaction to that. >> yeah, i think he's absolutely

right. but what putin's trying to do is he's trying to soften the battlefield before he meets with biden. he wants to act tough, scare biden a little bit because he's a bully. and vladimir putin will keep pushing, pushing, pushing, pushing until somebody stands up to him. he's pushed over the energy issues, he's pushed over ransomware, he's pushed over trying to create the international waterway of the black sea and turning it into a russian lake. biden's backed down, i'm not at all surprised putin's done this because he wants to put biden on his back heels so when they do meet in a couple of days, he's going to have the onus that's going to be on biden to make concessions to improve the relationship. that's not where it ought to be. elizabeth: interesting. yeah, well, we hear you. by the way, let me just get to my producer, it was nbc, is that right, producer? nbc? okay. nbc. kt mcfarland, thanks for joining us. coming up next, we've got a hot story for you.

♪ elizabeth: back with us now, fox news contributor charlie hurt. so this week, charlie, we saw gop lawmakers trying to mount a counterattack, trying to get probes done at the congressional level into what happened in china with the coronavirus outbreak, but they've been stymied. the nih is also stonewalling because the paper trail appears to be there. a lot more money went into the wuhan lab than the $600,000 that people are a talking about. we're talking about potentially millions of dollars in subgrants through nonprofits like cohealth alliance. what -- like ecohealth alliance. what do you say to the stonewalling here? >> well, it's absolutely shocking, it's stunning the level of disregard, as you point out, pointed out in the last segment. the level of disregard that democrats in congress have about a diseases that killed 600,000 americans and millions around the globe, and we till do not know exactly -- we still do not know exactly where it came from,

the degree to which the chinese communist twoft was involved, we don't even know whether or not this was something that possibly was an accidental -- if, in fact, it was a leak from the lab, if it was an accidental leak or a purposeful leak. and i realize that may sound shocking to some people, but the truth is if they refuse to answer questions and if our government refuses to even how questions to be asked, then we're left with no answers. and if we're left with no answers, you kind of are to assume the worst. and in a situation like this, you know, you go back a year and a half ago when this first happened, you had clearly, you know, people like dr. fauci, you had the media, you had facebook in particular working overtime to help the chinese communist government cover up any sort of, any sort of evidence, any sort of questions about where this came from. and all that can do is sort of raise alarms for rational people

who don't know the answer to those important questions. elizabeth: they haven't found the intermediary host yet, they haven't found the original animal that had the virus. they haven't found it. liver more says it's plausible, the potential wuhan lab leak. dozens of scientists say that. investigate it. the w.h.o. director says investigate it. wisconsin republican senator ron johnson says the evidence has been out there for all to see and for the media to report on, but democrats didn't investigate for other a year. they're now -- over a year. they're now doing it. why? >> saturdayly, i think the real answer at the beginning was because democrats, from the beginning, democrats sought to take this pandemic and politicize it and use it as a weapon against one man, and that's donald trump. and they were not going to allow the chinese government, they weren't going to allow anybody else to take any blame for this, because they wanted to pin the entire thing on donald trump in an election year. and think about that.

that is just -- i mean, that's just stunning, that there are actually -- elizabeth: it is stunning. you know -- >> [inaudible conversations] elizabeth: -- we hear you loud and clear. the wuhan lab has thousands of viruses in it. the bat viruses, those bats do not exist in wuhan. they exist 800,000 miles away. the scientists in there wrote stories saying, yes, we were funded by the ni in doing a -- nih in doing a spike protein the virus. dr. fauci 2011, washington post op-ed, yes, make dangerous lab-created viruses in order to get vaccines. 2012, says the benefits outweigh the risks here in creating superviruses. this gain of function stuff. vaccine companies say we don't need it. to what are we doing sitting around waiting for the next pandemic to kill even more americans, sicken and kill people around the world? what are we doing? >> well, apparently.

obviously, you know, not only were they not asking the tough questions or the basic, simple questions that they should have been asking at the beginning, they weren't even allowing anybody else to ask those questions. literally facebook and google were silencing, they were disappearing from the internet anybody who asked any of these basic questions about that wuhan lab. you know, we had -- the washington times had a story in january of 2020 raising questions on the record from intelligent sources about that, the wuhan institute of virology. and facebook completely erased it. "usa today" and washington post wrote fact checks in order to debunk the story that has, of course, proven to be absolutely 100% accurate. so there's a massive cover-up, and it's entirely being guided by politics and not science or the welfare of people. elizabeth: got it. charlie hurt, good to see you. come back soon. >> great to see you. elizabeth: okay.
