"the evening edit" starts right now. ♪ ♪ elizabeth: welcome to the show, you're watching the fox business network. the dow, the s&p 500, the nasdaq finishing down sharply today. inflation fears rattling the markets. st. louis fed president james bullard warning rate hikes could come sooner in 2022. let's begin with former deputy national security adviser kt kt mcfarland back with us, author of "revolution: trump, washington and we the people." kt, the breaking news that the biden administration froze the military aid package for ukraine valued at as much as $100 million before the meeting with vladimir putin, what's your read on this? >> i find this really troubling,

very troubling. it wasn't just the amount of the aid package,s it was what was in the aid package, and that was equipment that the ukrainians could use to defend themselves. lethal force defend themselves, stuff that we've been delivering to them for the last four or five years. here's what happens, if i leak this stuff altogether, so if president biden allowed the pipeline, the in order stream gas pipeline to go -- in order stream pipeline to go to germany, political leverage over the german economy, okay? number one. number two, the russian forces are at the ukraine border, there's still 100,000 of them. and ukraine is now in a very dangerous position especially because president biden took american warships and skedaddled out of the black sea the minute president putin threatened him. and then add to that the hacking, the hack attacks and ransomware attacks, and now that you find out the biden administration was pulling back

aid to, supposedly, the country we're supporting, ukraine x. while those men sat down in geneva, while putin and biden sat down at their summit meeting, putin had the largest military exercise russia has had since the cold war. russia since warships and bombers right up to the territorial waters of hawaii. so all those things together, i mean, i can't figure it out. i guess it's just complete conciliation to whatever the russians want to do and maybe in hopes that they think the russians are going to give them a fair deal. vladimir putin's a bully, and every time you give in to him, he takes more. elizabeth: so you're right, so what is the end game here? what's the strategy on the part of the biden administration? >> well, i think you saw it on display at the press conference where president biden said, well, we've given him this list, he can't possibly do the critical -- hacking into these 16 areas of critical infrastructure because with, you know, we're going to respond. and then what the response was

was left blank. and when he was asked a follow-up question, he said, well, you know, if russia does, russia's going to have diminished respect in the international community. russia doesn't care about that. and at the same time, president biden has now left open ransomware and russian hacking attacks on industries 17, 18, 19, 20 on up. so i think the end game, i don't know, i guess it's complete capitulation in hopes that a maybe, somehow they get a good deal with russia? it's absolutely the wrong approach to take with the russians as we have learned decade after decade after decade. elizabeth: so national security experts, remies say president biden -- republicans saw president biden put a bull's eye on those infrastructure entities when he said they're off limits to russian cyber attacks. does that really give them a green light to target that, and by the way, senator jim lankford, ted cruz, lisa stefanik saying everything is off limits in america.

should that have been the message? >> absolutely. and, i mean, one of the things i found so upsetting when i joined the trump administration at the beginning of the trump administration, i got my briefingsing, and i said, you know, what's our cyber capability. and it was a lot of talk about our defensive capability. not defending the private sector or the civilian economy, it was just defending the u.s. government and the defense industry. and i said, okay, what's our offensive cyber capability? in other words, how do we deter our adversaries from launching cyber attacks against us? and the attitude left over from the obama administration, which i think is now back in the biden administration, is, well, we don't want to be provocative. so, you know, we really don't -- we wanted to back off, and we think if we're the slightest bit provocative, they're going to take advantage of us when, in fact, the opposite is true. you know, putin has shown time and time again if you don't stop him, he keeps going. i would not be at all surprised

if we had these cyber hacking attacks against industries 17 on up and with the kind of open invitation to vladimir putin to say don't you dare touch number 1-16, well, what if he calls biden's bluff? what if he does? then what do we do in response? we're in a very bad position. and all the people who have commented on this absolutely right. the entire american economy, the entire american society should be off limits to cyber attack. elizabeth: all right. kt mcfarland, it's good to see you. thanks for your insights there. let's take on this next topic with texas congressman pat fallon. okay, so there was a letter that was sent along with congressman ronny jackson, former white house physician, to president biden on thursday that called on him to prove his mental fitness with a cognitive test. the letter was also sent to dr. anthony fauci. what do you make of this? is this a real thing?

>> liz, thanks for having me on. you know, it's not just an isolated incident with joe biden. this is a repeated pattern of behavior. he's making major gaffes on the world stage. now, he is the oldest president we've had, he's 78, but that's not the reason why we wrote the letter. the genesis of the letter was these gaffes. confusing syria and libya three different times prompting boris johnson to reintroduce the south african president which he had done three times. we need somebody who's at the apex of their mental acuity. elizabeth: he'sed had two aneurysms. vladimir putin said he had the grasp on details, that he never missed any details. vladimir putin thinks he was on his game. what do you say to that? >> i had a hard time hearing

you, but think you said putin thought biden was on his game? is that right? elizabeth: that is right. >> well, putin, he's shifty, and he's cunning, and everything he does has a purpose. so he might be just trying to work around and maybe manipulating biden into thinking that he's his friend and helping him out politically. but the fact of the matter is that all of us heard some of the things that he was saying during the those summits, the g7 summit and then meeting with putin. and i heard some of it, i couldn't believe what i was hearing. it was gibberish, it was mush. you can only hide this so long, and all we're asking is take a test. if you pass it, then we'll move on. i didn't agree with barack obama. i didn't agree withprint, but i never quelled their mental -- questioned their mental ability. elizabeth: the white house is saying they're going to release medical check-up results at the end of the year. they are reluctant to talk about the president's mental acuity. let's listen toman ronny

jackson. take a listen to this. >> after this most recent embarrassing performance overseas, i thought it was time to come out. i've been saying this for a year and a half, sean. i took care of three presidents over 15 years in the white house including being a physician to the president for both barack obama and donald j. trump. and, you know, i know what the rigors of this job are physically and cognitively. it's demanding. and after this performance, and we've been seeing this for a year and a half now. i've been saying that joe biden is not, he's not physically or cognitively fit to be our president right now, and i just think he's not inspiring confidence in the american people. elizabeth: now we've got the media going after ronny jackson for his prior problems and scandals. what do you say to that? shoot the messenger, looks like. >> well, liz, ronny jackson is not only an add ail america -- admiral, but he's a medical doctor. he's one of the most talented folks that we have not only in congress, but that has ever served and worn the uniform. so what ronny jackson is saying i'd have to echo right now

because the proof is in the pudding. all, again, we're asking for is to have joe biden take this mental acuity test. i represent 675,000 americans as a united states congressman. joe biden represents 330 million americans and an extra 2-300 billion people on the planet as the leader of the free world. this is the most important job in the world, and this is something that's too important to continue to go on with all these lingering questions. elizabeth elizabeth so what is, so the critics who say this is just a political attack, what is the issue that bothers you the most when it comes to what you think is the problems with the president's cognition and his acuity? what is one thing that really stands out? what one thing really stands out? >> really it's the pattern of continual gaffes. and i'll tell you very honestly and very candidly, that there's a member of congress -- i haven't asked his permission to use his name, it's a republican

member of congress -- that privately told me he's known joe biden for decades, and he's not the same person. he had seen him about a month ago, and he said, pat, it's frightening, it's not the same person. so that gave me pause. but then it's -- the whole world is seeing this. and joe biden, just get the test and then we can move on. this won't be an issue. it's funny how they're reluctant to do it. i think that's very telling. elizabeth: interesting. okay, congressman, come back soon. >> thanks, liz. god bless. elizabeth: sure, same to you. washington insiders say you can expect democrats from now until next year in the midterms to try and rebrand everything they do as helping the middle class as they fear major losses. that is historically, has been the case. but the biden administration's huge government spending blowout is being talked about as being misguided. inflation is hitting the highest it's been since 1979.

'cause we are. ♪ elizabeth: joining us now from house ways and means, jason smith. it's great to have you back on, congressman. how do all of these summits and meetingses overseas help the middle class? what policies are we seeing in the first six months that help american workers? we don't really see anything on the trade front. they're keeping trump's trade policies in place. nothing beyond really more jobless benefits and, you know, fight for $15 minimum wage. so what are, what is in here for the middle class? >> liz, i'll just tell you right now that the biden administration, what their focus has been is policies that harm the working class and the middle class. whether testing having the border completely open, having more people cross the southern

border since january 20th, the entire population of kansas city, missouri. by allowing illegals to cross the border, they are lowering wages for all americans. that is absolutely unacceptable. whether it's raising taxes on all americans, that's unacceptable. and this wasteful spending that they've done, $7.5 trillion that biden has either proposed or enacted in his first 100 days in office? that has caused inflation to go through the roof, liz, and that is making working class americans having to pay more to put food on their table, gas in their cars and clothe on their backs. elizabeth: yeah. we have the st. louis fed president james bullard today shocking the market saying he sees inflation really ramping up. the philly fed index says it's trending to be the worst since 1979. and, congressman, we have this new report from harvard university, brown university and the gates foundation saying that lockdowns destroyed the middle

class, that they had a far worse effect on working class americans than high-wage americans. so are we going to see democrats try to rebrand everything they do from here on into the midtermses as helping the middle class? the global minimum tax, vaccine sharing with other countries, helping the middle class? do you think what i mean? are you expecting that? >> well, i'll tell you, i think the democrats will do anything that they can to try the win the midterm election, but the middle class and the working class sees right through their rhetoric and their lies. i mean, it's interesting that they have to have a study to say that, in fact, the lockdowns hurt the middle class. we have been saying it all along, and we just said follow the science. if we just followed the leadership of what governor desantis did and governor kristi noem did, they didn't do the lockdowns, they opened up and allowed their economies to thrive. they had the lowest unemployment in the nation in their states, and it was quite successful.

so their conservative policies have worked. and the democrats are just, just pulling straws right now, and they can try the say that they're for the working class. they're for the elite, they clearly don't understand what it's like in middle class america. elizabeth: yeah. i mean, the lockdowns were disastrous economically. that's what history is going to show, what the fallacy was, this ad hoc, on the fly policies to let local bureaucrats shut down, unelected bureaucrats shut down and control local economies. we understand what the governors are doing, we're talking about people below them. the other thing too that's really interesting is thousand nancy pelosi wants a new wealth committee to study wealth inequality, and she's poised to have jim hines to run it, he has a $200,000 house in greenwich,

connecticut. shouldn't they figure out how to create prosperity? >> it's the democrats' policy. they think government can fix everything. conservatives know that government's typically the problem. and that -- it's so ridiculous that you have a multimillionaire speaker of the house from san francisco, and now she's appointed the chair of a new quality committee that is a former executive at goldman sachs, and the other members are progressive socialists? these folks need to understand that the way that you increase wages, the way that you increase employment is by getting government out of the way, lowering taxes, not raising taxes. we see it firsthand. what they're proposing right now, they're proposing to raise taxes on low income, middle income, all income -- elizabeth: and stay on that. stay on that for a second, hang on. because bernie sanders now wants a $6 trillion new spending plan. $6 trillion more in spending

or he just has a problem, you know, sleeping with his dead brother's widow or denying paternity of his son, all of which are pretty bad things, but it's also official business. you know, when a guy like hunter biden shakes down foreign governments, when he, you know, makes millions of dollars influence-peddling at the highest levels to of the government when his father is vice president of the united states, these are -- those are serious crimes. and yet the media covers for him all the time. it's absolutely astonishing. you know, i wouldn't expect to see this level of, you know, the sort of treatment that we saw of president trump and his family to be, you know, that level of scrutiny against the biden family, but this is beyond the pale. elizabeth: you know, the trap door to get out of this conversation by the media

purportedly has been the laptop not verifiably hunter biden's. daily mail got forensic experts to study the laptop and independent forensic experts and they said, yeah, these are real. these are the real thing. and when you read the stream of consciousness kind of texting, you know, fights with his father, how his -- the language in each of the texts, charlie, you can see hunter biden's personality is the same in all of the text messages. they sure sound real, they feel real. and, you know, the thing the trump family was accused of using their positions in government to cash in, right in but they had had their own business prior, and the president never took a paycheck in the white house. you know, we heard about the trump hotel and his properties benefiting, we get that. but where are the investigations, where's the hair on fire outrage moment from the democrats when you have hunter biden using secret service on

400 trips on air force 2 going to our adversaries in china and russia to do business? >> absolutely. elizabeth: he's absolutely target thed then, you know, for spying. >> yeah. whatever you think of donald trump, the fact remains that the trump family made lots and lots of money, and then they gave up money to go into politics. the biden family is the exact opposite. they went into politics, they've spent their life in politics, and they've made a lot of money in politic or perhaps off of politics in the case of hunter biden. but going back to the laptop, liz, and i think this is so important, that is the biggest lie. the idea that the media is claiming that they can't verify the contents of that laptop. the dirty secret that so many people in the media don't want to tell you is this: that, you know, hunter biden has been around for a long time. a lot of people in media have personal relationships with hunter biden. they know for a fact that all

that stuff is real because their own e-mails and texts are on that laptop. that's how they all know firsthand that this stuff is for real. that has nothing to do with it. the reason they float that canard is because they don't want to cover it because they don't want to hurt hunter biden, and they -- but the real thing they don't want to do is they don't want to hurt joe biden. it's all a big lie. all the stuff on the laptop is real. they know it, they just don't want to cover it. elizabeth: let me just recap what you just said. d.c. insiders, people in washington, and are row saying people -- are you saying people also in the media know that the hunter laptop e-mails and text messages are real because their own e-mails and text messages are showing up on the laptop? >> absolutely. elizabeth: is that what you're saying? >> absolutely. there is no doubt. and listen to hunter biden himself. even he doesn't deny that the material on the laptop is real.

this wuhan coronavirus come from. was it a lab leak. where is the outrage? where is the hair on fire outrage from democrats and dr. fauci over a pandemic that's killed 600,000 americans and sickened millions? isn't it kind of weird there's not more outrage about this possibility of a lab leak? >> well, look, they have a lot of serious issues they'd have to answer to the american people. in fact, we put a bipartisan committee together with republicans and democrats in the house were supposed to be working together. i heard next week that i'm going to be testifying before this committee, but the democrats are refusing to testify. so house republicans on the intelligence committee put out the most comprehensive report three weeks ago. we went back and looked at all the circumstantial evidence. it all points to a leak from the lab, and the only evidence we have actually comes from the an animal that went through a human is from the chinese communist party. dr. fauci and the democrats.
