border, on i skyrocketing violent crime as the clock is ticking. that's where they are the most weak when it comes to their politics. joining us now, congressman august pfluger. your take on the vice president's visit to the border tomorrow. what do you think is going to happen? >> well, liz, thanks for having me. it's 93 days too late. and in that time let's look at what happened. 529,000 illegal immigrants have been apprehended, who knows how many gotaways. 7500 pounds of fentanyl and just an amazing amount of crime in my district. it's hitting all 29 counties in my district, and the biden administration is directly to blame. elizabeth: here's what else is going on. interesting use of the obamacare victory in the supreme court. the biden administration is now fighting texas, fighting arizona. those states are saying, you know, crime is hitting their a neighborhoods and towns, home invasions, robberies, car chases. so it feels like that visit is

getting undercut. the vice president's visit the getting undercut in how the biden administration is fighting the border states. what do you say? >> well, that's right. a couple of weeks ago we had two high-speed chases, 20 plus illegal immigrants in the back of a vehicle. in another they uncovered $500,000 worth of illicit drugs including fentanyl and methamphetamine. so it's affecting us. you have governor abbott who is having to deal with this directly because president biden has abbey dated his responsibility -- abdicated his responsibility. we as texans are to stand up for ourselves. elizabeth: okay, so we've got rump, former president trump going to where the crisis is, and the vice president is going to where the crisis is not. the texas governor's saying her trip is going to fail if she doesn't speak to local residents in the del rio sector.

he said people have had guns pointed at their heads. >> for sure you have ranches that aring with vandalized with high-speed if chases, crime that is soaring because of the drug trafficking, and you're right, it looks like a photo op for an hour. i hope she does go to el paso. she also needs to go to the rio grande valley, she also needs to go to del rio, and i hope she would looked in the eyes of border patrol agents and law enforcement agents including the migrants and get a feeling for the crisis she has caused as the border czar and yet this is the first trip after 93 days. elizabeth: the drug cartels and the human traffickers, border officials say they effectively control the border where there's gaps in the border fence. there was three drug cartel gunmen who were seen traversing across the rio grande river in tactical gear waving assault rifles at a family fishing in the river. the above of texas says since

will veto this bill if the hard-left progressive democrats don't get what they want in a budget reconciliation bill in the senate. i mean, what is going on here? >> well, i told my constituents a long time ago, ooh i've been in this job now for about 11 years, and i told them i would support the president when he's right, oppose the president when he's wrong, and i'll do both with respect. i can tell you right now this president's making it very, very hard to do the latter. i'm doing everything i can to try and be respectful, but when you engage in good faith negotiations with members from the other party and you announce that you have a deal, and two hours later you crawfish on the deal, what are we supposed to do at that point? i mean, there's just a demonstration of bad faith on the part of the president. elizabeth: it was pretty stunning. i mean, listen, the clock is ticking. the august, you know, the july recess, the august recess, janet yellen, treasury secretary, this is a nasty debt ceiling fight coming up in the midterms. >> absolutely.

elizabeth elizabeth joe manchin and krysten sinema are not going to go for bernie sanders' $6 trillion in spending, they're not going to go for it. so then they're going to go into the midterms with what? >> empty handed, and i think they're starting to come to that realization. this is basically, i think it's a foregone conclusion now, and now they're just throwing a whole lot of mud against the wall and hope some of it sticks. i don't know what their path forward is at this point. elizabeth: you know, congressman, the other thing that is going to happen, we're going to be watching is democrats led by house speaker nancy pelosi trying to rebrand things. rebrand to sell it, do a hard sell to the american people. she's calling the childcare tax credit, quote, social security for kids. as if that's enough for americans to go along with. like, you know, paid family leave is suddenly infrastructure. americans aren't buying it. they ain't buying it.

and let me back up. the context is this: the idea that the democrats had an agenda like the, the dr new deal -- fdr new deal or lbj's great society, they have a much smaller majority in the congress. the washington examiner's pointing that out too. >> well, you're right. elizabeth: they don't have anywhere near the -- go ahead. >> yeah, you're right. you mentioned new branding. here's a new term, you know, the president has been in washington for over 50 years. i've never heard this term, certainly not uttered by him, but we're now using this term, human infrastructure. that means we're going to throw it all in a pot, stir it up, call it infrastructure when really only about 10% of it has anything to do with what we have come to regard as traditional infrastructure prompts like highways, roads, bridges, airports and even broadband internet. so how are we going to pay for this, by the way?

elizabeth: we hear you. and, you know, how about listening to the moderates and the centrists -- >> there's quite a few of them, and their voices are being silenced. elizabeth: yeah. we hear you. congressman rick crawford, it's good to see you, come back soon. happening at this hour, a massive rescue operation now underway near if miami. nearly 100 people still missing in the collapse of a building. at least one person dead. steve harrigan is with us live on the very latest with this tragedy. steve. >> reporter: officials are insisting this is still a rescue operation. right now much of that work is taking place underground, underneath the parking deck. they are still digging with multiple urban rescue teams. they said they have heard banging. they're not sure whether that comes from a human or not, but they intend to keep on searching throughout the night. very difficult conditions in there. there is movement of parts of the building which is still partially collapsed. so it's very difficult to detext with dogs and with sounds, but

rise in communities of color. so it begs the question in relation to democrats, what are you doing to protect that community in the democrats ran on the defund police method and however. what happened was they lost a lot of the down ballot elections as a result of stating this defund police, and ultimately defunding policece is hurting these communities of color. we look at what happened in minneapolis are, minnesota. they d defunded the police, andt was the citizens of minneapolis that actually sued the city council because they defunded thee police because there was such a meteoric rise in crime. so it begs the question of where does the african-american and the communities of color stand in connection with this movement. elizabeth: yeah, that's a good point. in pittsburgh, 90 of the murder victims are -- 90% of the murder victims are black. nearlypo 60% in indianapolis. 63 cities voted to cut budgets

for police. police are quitting and retiring in record numbers. this is a major democrat voting bloc. what's going to happen? >> i just give you an example. here in new york city the manhattan district attorney dismissed all of the charges against the rioters in the wake of the death of george that maked the city of new york. however, the manhattan d.a. continued to prosecute the officers that were protecting the citizens of new york city. so the politics and the -- politicians and the district attorneys are not setting forth the necessary agenda, and something needs to happen. we need to put a moratorium on this because police officers are our first line of defense in connection with the social contract. and, unfortunately, these politicians just don't get it. elizabeth: yeah, we hear you. let's listen to one politician. he is retired new york city police officer eric adams. he's leading the new york city democrat mayoral i primary. he raises this point. listen to this. >> think about this for a

moment. 9 a 5% -- 95% of victims of shootings are black and brown in new york. 95% of the shootings are are black and brown. elizabeth: so it's gang violence. it's gang violence. it's illegal guns. it's the people who are holding the i guns and doing the shooti. and it's just horrendous that it'sng blacks killing black people. how do weus change this? this is a humanitarian crisis. >> you know, when we look at what's happening and i give you the contrast of new york and chicago, it's the exact same narrative. it's not just gun violence, it's drugun violence. it's v just, it's domestic violence. it's a culmination of different perspectives of criminal activity that are plaguing these communities of color. and the politicians just don't see it. they haven't set forth a. [applause] if bl solution, and -- a plausible solution, and as a result of their inability to

act, these communities are suffering carnage at record paces. elizabeth you know, just passed a bill saying to their cities and towns you defund police, we're going to penalize you, and now we have baltimore voters saying, b basically, that cities -- in cities, residents are saying we're going to recall you. we're going to y recall you if u don't step up. what do you s say to that? >> well, one of the things president biden spoke to was the $350 billion that was contained in the american rescue package was connected to police, police staff thing, so to speak. i think that the president can focus on a targeted a approach that if you don't take specific steps, you will not receive funding from the federal government. and that's what the president do. but on a localized level, i just think that they're all over the place. and we have qualified practitioners in law enforcement, but the politicians are holding them back and

democrat governor gavin newsom, it's on. why are california voters so upset? >> well, it is on. it is official. finish and voters are very upset because this governor continues to fail, absolutely fail at the basics. you know, we saw over 2 million californianss sign that recall petition. by the way, from all parts of the state, a all walks of life, republicans, democrats and independents who are angry and frustrated not just at how this governor handled the pandemic, opening and shutting businesses constantly without being based on science, but because he continues to fail, as i said, at the basics. homelessness skyrocketing in california, the fact that our state is just too expensive, and we havend a governor that doesnt seem to recognize that there's a problem. that's why californians want a change at the top when it comes

to gavin newsom. elizabeth: and the l.a. d.a. going soft on crime, right? californians tell us the tipping point whiz went governor -- was when governor newsom told everyone to stay home, wear masks, but then he went out to a fancy restaurant with health care officials not wearing a mask. and his administration is threatening to throw business owners in jail, and then they're seen dining out, going to wineries. it's the hypocrisy that really is angering people. goad ahead. >> absolutely hypocrisy. and began insome -- gavin newsom who says one thing and always does another. opening and shutting down businesses not based on science. when it comes to the fact that, as we're talking here this evening, our california public schools are still, still not fully reopened. private schools have been open for, you know, basically the entire year in california. why? because those schools report to parents. but yet our public schools that ultimately report to gavin newsom are still not fully

reopened. and so ied think when you starto add all of this up, rising crime in california -- which you were just talking about in the last segment. in fact, wet just got some news yesterday thatst this governor s been misleading californians in terms of wildfire prevention and actually cutting our cal fire budget. you start adding all of that up, that's why californians are eager and anxious to get to the polls to make a change at the top for somebody who's actually going to roll up their sleeves and get our state back on track. elizabeth: let's talk aboutut te wildfires and rolling blackouts because we've been reporting on how the democrat party in sacramento gets a lot of donations from the electric and power industry. okay, so i why is california finally agreeing to former president donald trump's plan? he said clean out the debris, the underbrush in the state's 33 million acres of forest with controlled burnson to stop the wildfires. but when he said that, president biden and democrats said he was

a climate arsonist. listen, these wildfires kill people. they destroyed homes and businesses, triggered rolling blackouts. how can you be so incompetent and not do what trump said to do years ago? >> well, that's exactly right in terms of when you ignore forest management, common sense that's so incredibly important in a state like california, we suffer the h consequence. there are lives at stake here, and that's why californians are so angry. this governor came out and took a lot of credit for a lot of things he didn't even do and actually cut money from our cal fire budget. the consequences on this are absolutely deadly. and so we need a governor that's protect our lives and livelihoods, not what we're getting from gavin newsom. elizabeth: cut it out with the politicking and just do the kitchen table, common sense stuff. i mean, state democrats for two

to three decades refused to clean out forests and remove the underbrush, and then wildfires, of course, raged out of control. the santa ana winds can exceed 60 miles an hour. what's with the lack of common sense? there's a shortage of that. >> it's in very short supply out here in california at the capitol. that's why what we've been talking about, one-party rule in california has been failing our state. it's time to have a above that can actually roll up their -- a governor that can w actually rol up their sleeves and get the job done. when i was mayor of san diego, we actually tackled this. i stood up when i had a hundred protesters outside my house, we didn't defund the police, we increased the budget. that's what we need in sacramento. elizabeth: let's see if you can take on sacramento, that's a whole other world. of the chinese government. so it's, i'm or sort of reluctant to give too much credit to that. the real question here is what you pointed out, and that is how on earth do you have a ppresident's son who is making millions of dollars off of exactly this kind of company that is committing human rights abuses and far more importantly, undermining the united states and standing up to the united states in ways that the administration is doing absolutely nothing to so much as lift a finger against? elizabeth: yeah. let's go through it. in 2013 hunter biden flies on air force two to beijing. after that he comes a back with a 10% stake in a deal with, lbasically, china's largest -- one of its largest investment funds, backed by the central bank of china. it invests in a chinese technology company that does facial recognition software to
