"the hill" reporting that west virginia senator joe manchin is signaling that he'll be a team player on the $3.5 trillion human infrastructure package. the democratic senator telling his colleagues that he will not stand in the way of the measure going forward and will be supportive as long as he's kept in the loop on his top concerns. here now, steve forbes, "forbes" media chairman. steve, doesn't joe manchin usually go along with democratic initiatives? he's not a no very often, is he? >> that's absolutely true. you saw that earlier this year

when biden, president biden had that 1.9 trillion blow outspending bill only which about one-fourth actually related to covid. who helped supply the critical vote? joe manchin. i know it's just a coincidence, but his wife not a nice $163,000 a year job, so i'm just sure that's just a coincidence. and so he's going to fold again, and the so-called centrists will ultimately fold x this shows that the left wing of this party is in charge, and they're hurting all of the others to go their way. dagen: where are the republicans on this, steve? because, again, this isn't just through the $2 trillion that was passed earlier this year. again, covid relief while the vaccine was already being distributed for two or three months at that time. but where are the republicans now? because these, in my opinion, they screwed up getting onboard with this infrastructure package which opened the door and paved the way for the $3.5 trillion

reconciliation bill. but where are they in standing up? where is the synthesis in all of this to stop this dramatic entitlement expansion by the democrats? >> unfortunately, they've been slow off the mark because they've underestimated the absolute intense deof the far-left -- intensity of the far left to get things done. we should have learned from history what a few leninists did in the former russian imperial empire. these democrats are absolutely determined. bernie sanders is the virtual president right now calling the shots. joe biden is a cipher, just going along with whatever the left tells himmed to do, and the republicans thought, gee, they would avoid public opinion by showing how reasonable they were, how they're willing to compromise, but they didn't realize they were being rolled. i hope the base of the party is now on to it and these republicans will get the message. they're starting, for instance, to get the message on what's

happening with the irs. they thought, oh, let's go and beef up the irs, and that'll get some money without raising taxes. now they're waking up. this is giving more power to the irs. it's the basis for a wealth tax and harassing and controlling americans. they've been slow off the mark. hope any they'll get the fire lit under them because if they don't, they're all going to be primaried. dagen: the american people, steve, are getting rolled. people who did choose to vote for owe biden who voted for knoll city -- joe biden who voted to take down the volume a little bit, this is a massive progressive agenda and expansion of government. and i said at the beginning the wall street editorial page said this, getting the middle class hooked on government handouts. there is no mandate. this is one -- i think the narrowest congressional majority in history. it's a 50-50 split in the senate, and this is fdr-like,

1933, or lbg-like, 1965. they do not -- lbj like. they do not have the backing of the american people on this. people be damn though. >> right. and that's what happened when aoc won her primary a couple of years ago. all the other democrats feared that would happen to them. the fear and money and determination in that party is the far left, and they're calling the shots, and the rest of the democrats are folding. so so they did not have a mandate, but they have enough control where they figure they'll jam everything through. if they don't get h.r. 1 which put the federal government in charge of voting in this country and helped rig the elections, they figure if they get these new entitlements in, that's just as good because once you start them, you can never get rid of them very, very difficult to reform. dagen: the california state legislature has approved the country's first state-funded, guaranteed income program. steve, this program is very

narrow in its scope for now. $35 million. it's cash payments for pregnant women who qualify and then people or young adults who are coming out of foster care. but this is, should shine a spotlight on what the biden administration has already done with this additional child tax credit. expires at the end of the year. it goes to almost 90% of kids, but it doesn't go to kids. it goes to the parents. this is money that is going in to people who earn up, households who earn up to $150,000. and you know, as you said, this will be expanded. this is universal basic income for the vast majority of kids in this country. >> that's why they wanted those supplements for unemployment benefits. that's a back door way of getting a $15 national minimum wage. you see it already working in various participants of the country, and the -- parts of the

country. republicans have to learn to take the high moral ground, and they certainly should begin by fighting what i call the four nos, no new taxes, no new entitlements, no new spending and no more police state powers for the irs. start hammering home, and people will be with them. people know higher taxes are going to hurt them. people don't want a more intrusive irs, and they know government spending, just go to the cash rebel sister or the store east -- register with your card or a debit card, you see what's happening to prices. if this $3.5 trillion bill passes, how is it going to be financed? by the printing press and not the kind that i grew up with, the kind that the government controls. dagen: indeed, steve. and before we go, again, people say, oh, you're upset about children getting money. no. i'm upset about a government that is exploding inside and exploding in control. i'm upset that we are headed if

you get pre-k, if you get free community college, if you get free paid family leave, it's not free. eventually, we will wind up like europe where americans don't have control over their own money, over their own lives. we will have a value-added tax or an energy tax as steve moore talked about, and i don't believe and never have that the government knows best. >> no, the government clearly doesn't know best. you see that play out every day. and, by the way, all those free things people like, in europe they financed it with a 20-a 25% payroll tax, 30%. 25% national sales tax. so if you think your payroll tax is high today, triple it. if you don't like your 6-8% state sales tax, quadruple that. that's what you're in store for. the middle class has the money. they say the rich have it, but the middle class only has it. that's where the big money is.

leaders of black lives matter generated a lot of controversy by suggesting that the u.s. is to blame for cuba's economic woes. now some of those views are being sported by, as you mentioned, congresswoman alexandria ocasio-cortez. >> the embargo, the u.s. embargo is absurdly cruel. and, like other u.s. policies, particularly other u.s. policies targeting black americans and latinos, the cruelty is the point. >> reporter: florida senator marco rubio said blaming the u.s. for cuba's conditions is outrageous. he says the communist regime is responsible for the economic crisis. he also took a shot at black lives matter on twitter. he wrote: my office stands ready to help the leaders of the black lives matter organization emigrate to cuba. president biden not blaming the u.s. for cuba's troubles. he says if they fail, it's because of the leaders embracing communism. still, there are questions about what the white house plans to do

next. senator rubio and others are calling on the u.s. to help restore cuba's internet access to protesters. the white house was asked today about those efforts. >> returning internet access to cuba would certainly be something we'd love to be a part of. we're looking at what our capacities and tools are we have. >> reporter: the white house has repeatedly called on the cuban government to retrain on violence against the protesters, but we have seen a crackdown. it is unclear what may happen this weekend in havana and elsewhere. dagen. dagen: mark meredith in washington. here now, congresswoman nicole malliotakis, daughter of a cuban refugee. what congresswoman alexandria ocasio-cortez had to say kind of in lockstep with the black lives matter organization, it just displays idiocy, for lack of a better word, that it's greed and corrupt and the failure of communism that has led to the suffering of the people in cuba.

republicans if a well known, high profile republican said something this idiotic, that every person in the media, in the main stream media would be quizzing every member of the gop about what this individual said. they would be put on the spot to denounce it. why doesn't this happen? >> well, where are they now? where are they now asking black lives matter, who claims to be, you know, an organization that cares about police brutality when the people in cuba right now are being beat, they're being abducted, shot at by their police force, by the military there? i'd like to know where the media is asking them about that hypocritical statement that they've made earlier today. and the reality is i'm going to continue to expose what's happening in cuba. look, the internet access is a major eshoo because it allows the world to see what's happening -- issue. they're getting intermittent internet, couple hours here and

there, but the real reality is people are becoming maybe afraid to protest on the streets because they are being beat and abducted by the police. that is a major concern. so we want the biden administration to not only provide internet which they can do from here in the united states, just 90 miles away, but in addition to that, we want them to call on this regime to stop abusing its people, allow them to freely demonstrate. they want freedom, and we should support them as the leader of the free world. take craig and i just want to shine a little bit of light on the likes of, say, and the new york post published an editorial about this by eddieerer, that ty are so quick to tweet black lives matter, but they're associating themselves with an organization that didn't dedicated to fighting racial unjustice, they are dedicated to supporting marxism and spreading lies about why the people of cuba are.

in danger and improvished. >> absolutely. and, by the way, this is the same group, the fight for $15 minimum wage, the people in cuba make $15 a month, okay? they're treated as slaves by their government. they're told what they're going to do and is -- and what their contribution will be to society. it doesn't matter what they do, they make $15 a month, and everything is sold in the equivalent of u.s. dollars, so they can't afford to buy anything. they're a starving under this communist regime, and they've had enough. america must be the leader that gets the international community to join us in putting pressure on this regime, illegitimate regime so they can grow and we can bring freedom and democracy to the cuban people. they deserve it. i have family there, i know the suffering that is happening, and every american, every freedom-loving american or anybody who really supports democracy throughout the world should be coming to support them right now.

that covid may have originated from a lab. that is something that this president now admits is a possibility. so is there any concerns that maybe you're trying to block or have taken down might someday turn out to be -- >> we don't take anything down. we don't block anything. facebook and any private sector company makes decisions about a what information should be on their platform. our point is that there is information that is leading to people not taking the vaccine, and people are dying as a result. and we have a responsibility as a public health matter to raise that issue. the responsibility we all have; the government, media, platforms, public merges to give accurate information. -- messagers. dagen: joining me now to discuss is carol markowitz, new york post columnist. i just want to get your reaction to that, because i have a whole lot to say about jen psaki. questions about what biden's favorite ice cream flavor is. i'm sure the white house is aware of that because they're in touch with all the tech giants, and they have all the information, they can get whatever they want. we have a situation where the white house is very clearly directing facebook to remove things they don't like. and as peter points out in his question, they have been wrong before. facebook has been wrong in censoring information before. it's very tough to say no to the president, very tough to say no to the president's spokeswoman. so to say that facebook is sort of on its own and doing whatever it wants to do without direction from the white house is simply a lie. and every fascist has always had a great reason for why they want to shut down information, you know? it's always for your own good, it's always for the common good. i don't see anything really different here. dagen: well, jen psaki is essentially saying we're trampling on the first amendment, but you need to get

their issue. kamala harris was one of the early deniers of the vaccine, one of the early people to say, oh, i'm not getting this. if trump's involved, then i don't want any part of this. how many people listened to her back then and haven't taken the vaccine? governor cuomo was another example where he threw shade on the vaccine in december. you don't know what the repercussions are. they're not being shut down on social media platforms. dagen: but it seems like, again, making the issue political. i think almost a third of migrants in custody are refusing the vaccine. so they're refusing it because of facebook or there are at least two nfl teams that were under a 50% vaccination rate. so that's, that's because of a few, literally a few people on facebook. i just find it really -- but, again, this is what far ifist

regimes do -- fascist regimes do. i want to quickly get your take on what biden said earlier today about, well, facebook. take a listen. >> what's your message to platforms like facebook? >> they're killing people. i mean, they're really -- look, the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated. and they're killing people. dagen: there is no -- they, they -- again, does he even know what he's saying. there's no acceptance of people's free will by leftists, including the people in this white house. >> yeah. so creepy. and, again, when the president urges a private company to shut down speech, that is a violation of first amendment rights. look, we always say, you know, facebook can do whatever it wants as a private company. well, sure, facebook can do whatever it wants as a private company, but here is the president of the united states urging them to shut down that

speech. that seems to me to be a violation of first amendment rights. the white house should be countering this with more speech. they should be producing data. their problem is 12 facebook posts, they can get 24 and have them spreading the word about how safe the vaccines are. it shouldn't be shutting down the information. that makes people even more worried. why are they shutting down the information about these vaccines if there's nothing to worry about? dagen: it's the same problem, carol, and you've been one of the strongest, if not the strongest voice, on all of this. particularly this damage done to our children since the beginning of the pandemic. >> thank you. dagen: what you see out in los angeles county they've reimplemented a mask mandate for indoors whether you're vaccinated or not. >> right. dagen: so why -- how does that help get people vaccinated? >> yeah. dagen: again, it goes to the government and these people in power are not going to give up

this control. they refuse if to do it. >> that's right. and you're absolutely right, yeah. it absolutely sends the message that the vaccines don't work because if everybody has to wear a mask whether or not if you've gotten a vaccine, you have to wear the mask. so if the vaccines work, why we still living like this? that should be the key message. and that's really where fauci and the cdc went so wrong, and they really bungled the whole thing with vaccines. they should,ing have said get the vaccines, go back to your normal 2019 life. instead, for months they said, well, we're still going to have to social distance, we're still going to have to wear a mask, etc., etc. the message should be get the vaccine, go live your life again. craig and to your point, carol, i had antibodies. i had covid in march. i went and got the vaccine, and i've had personal conversations with people about getting it. i say you really don't want to catch covid. you don't want this. but again, to shut down people's ability to discuss openly how

[cheers and applause] dagen: the piece is a great deal longer than that, and it was posted by the vice president of defending ed. but she was part of the group of parents at thomas jefferson high school that a moved to oppose this, and i just want to tell you what the response was from the pt -- the virginia pta has been. they literally, they literally came out and said that this individual is going to go through sensitivity training. that just, that was just in the -- excuse me, yeah. a virginia pta response, we're aware of the news reports about the disturbing choice of words used by a board member during a public event. it will be sending board members to sensitivity training. that's what they said.

state resource toss pay for his memoir. dagen? dagen: bryan, thank you so much. here now is doug burn, former federal prosecutor. doug, let's start with the interview that he'll give tomorrow. what do you think comes of that? if does it carry the gravity of an interview -- you were ca former prosecutor -- when the fba grills you? if you lie to the fbi, that's a felony. >> no, you're right, dagen. i mean, you know, since it's outside investigators, it may not be quite as rigorous. but at the same time, it's a lot different, keep in mind than, you know, a press conference and functions in a political context. now you're on the hot seat, and you've got to be very, very careful because you don't know exactly how much they've dotted is and crossed ts in terms of backing up and corroborating information. so it's much more treacherous waters for him. but i agree with you, it's not quite as rigorous as a full-on

fbi interview. but remember, as bryan pointed out, there's an investigation out of the brooklyn u.s. attorney's office where i served for nine years into, you know, matters beyond just this. it actually has to do with the nursing homes. so, again, he's facing multiple investigations, as bryan said. dagen: right. his nursing home order sent out in march of last year has led to the deaths of 15-16,000 people which he covered up. they're looking into that. the book deal, using state resources. we can go on and on and on. but how long do you think it would take in terms of the federal investigations, having been there in the u.s. attorney's office? >> yeah, it's always hard to say, and i always kind of cringe a little when people come up with these cardinal rules. saying this indicates that the investigation is wrapping up, that's not necessarily the case.

it might be, but it also could be that they're going to double back and do some reinterviews and interview aides and people around the governor. but to your question specifically on the federal one, i can't give you a concrete number, but it's certainly going to taken a number of months to go through and investigate the nursing home situation. but to break it down, i mean, you've got three separate matters; sexual harassment, the book deal, and as you explained it, saying, you know, using state government resources in connection with that, that could be problematic. and then, of course, the nursing home thing out of the eastern district of new york. dagen: he's still there though. i guess he kind of took a page from ralph north am -- ralph northam, the governor there, we still don't know if he was the one in the klan hood, the black face. that at least was in the past. this is a governor who has abused power, has sicced his

ghouls -- we were quoting at the party -- he sent janice dean who lost her in-laws to covid is nursing homes because of the governor's order, said to janice dean she should stick to the weather, and he also went after other grieving loved ones. so again, at every turn this cuomo has just royalty screwed the people of new york. and he's still there. not going anywhere. >> you're absolutely right. and they start getting into the political discussions and nuances and seminars about different treatment for different political parties. he's complaining about a leak, are you kidding me, after what we went through for years and years every time an investigator in the trump matter came out of a men's room, there were 20 cable segments, i mean. it's just beyond the pale on many levels, you know, to see him complaining that tomorrow
