hospitalized fighting for his life. the french had been on the force for four years and was on the department's community safety team. this comes as an increase in violent crime is hitting in many cities across the u.s. while the flags are at half staff in chicago will this serve as a wake-up call for those trying to defund police department's across the country? the panel has returned, ned, marie, brad. ned this is absolutely heartbreaking. what do you think could be done about that you have any hope the situation is going to improve? >> no i think it's going to have to get worse before it improve. people are going to have to look at those running the cities i was eight democrats and realize either they have to have the adults show up again or it's going to continue to get worse. the only way they're going to be able to do that is for there to be primaries and the reasonable democrats, if there are any left to take power again and say we cannot defund police for there's a need for law and order there is a need

for robust police force for before you have adults show up i think it's going to get worse. kat: and marie think about democratic leadership alert light but did go to the hospital officers there turned their backs on her. what do you say about that? >> look at joe biden is the leader of the party he does not support defining police he it is proposed a of ways to do that. kat: what about lori lightfoot? >> look, lori lightfoot is confronting a very difficult situation and chicago. violent crime is tragically up, cap it both in cities that have produced a funny but also places that have increased the funding or kept it stable. i don't think funding to the police is the whole answer to why violent crime is up. we should not think that it is. but again the democratic party leadership has been very clear starting at the top they actually want to fund the

police to give them more resources. and ultimately to make sure our committees are safe. joe and his team notices big problem. kat: now that has become a problem loosing the consequences or change their tune a little different than the weather sank last summer. some are still coming, brad you'd like me have some libertarian sense of ability. i'm all about accountability for law enforcement trade that is so much different that what we have been seeing this last summer. >> yes, absolutely. for me this is not a red or blue thing. this is an important reminder while i support criminal justice reform we can have reasonable conversations about all of that. we do a lot of over policing of things that should not be crimes in this country. but for all of that is second to the fact that across the country men and women in the police put their lives on the line to protect us for no matter red or blue we should all be grateful for that. kat: and then why is it such a

contentious issue? we can all agree we do not want to get shot. >> exactly, this is not a contentious issue, cat. it should be we want law and order, we want peace and prosperity in our communities. and lest we have let far left just take over city councils and mayors office to increase their crazy, twisted, demented worldview which there is no police force if they have their way. i think it's a real shame. as you start to see the urban areas dk and evolve into more of violence, only way you get these people to lose a political power. kat: and marie do think there some louder voices in the party to still say defund the police and the people have shifted. you think that is a problem for democrats the fact is voices are getting attention? >> they are getting attention because the right ones take political advantage of it. the bottom line is the democratic party do not want
