okoun is the new prime minister of afghanistan. on the u.n. terror watch list along with other cabinet members. interior of the ministry are haqqani has a 10 million-dollar bounty on his head for thinks involvement in a hotel attack in 2008 and assassination attempt on former president of afghanistan. the make up of this new government will be very difficult for the united states to engage directly with, especially as you have the final americans still looking to get to safety. a leaked email overnight that charter flights are not being granted permission to land at u.s. air bases or other third party locations. important context here the state department has a reason for acting this way. according to senior u.s. official, there is no way to verify who is on the flights and the taliban is in control of security. anyone boarding a flight from afghanistan, specifically the airport in mazar-i-sharif is only being vetted by the taliban. u.s. secretary of state antony blinken addressed this today while in germany blaming the

taliban for the flights not taking off. appears you have two issues here. the taliban not having flights taking off because they're looking for proper documentation, and the united states not letting flights take off because they can't check passenger. elizabeth: thank you, trey yingst. we have senator bill hagerty, former u.s. army special flight surgeon, dr. omar hamad back with us. latest outrage, the secretary of state called on the taliban to step charter flights with rescued americans and afghans. they downplayed the issue days before. your reaction? >> liz, this is frustrated. what we created in afghanistan we created a cauldron of terror. taliban control the city and the taliban control the state. we need to do every last american out and everything within our power to do that what

happened we handed control to a terrorist organization. they're fulfilling their plan to put in place their own government. they targeted the same date, joe biden had targeted, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with very different results. now we have a armed taliban, much more dangerous than ever before. we are in a worse position than we were 20 years ago. we have to address this now. elizabeth: to the senator's point, doctor, secretary blinken down plays people in the taliban government, calling them quote, people with challenging track records. they are jihadis. they are in a generational flight against the u.s. and western values around the world. they are in it for the long game. does this rhetoric feel like unserious? i want to quote back to you, he was asked on the by msnbc, are they the enemy? he said it is hard to put a label on it. >> this is lunacy.

i can't believe we're where we are on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and everything we've been through. to make the taliban our partners and allies is ludicrous. we cannot vet people on the ground. we know hundreds of americans are trapped on the ground that we abandoned there. this administration prevented them from leaving. we can vet them when they land if they're not appropriate we can send them right back. we don't need to waste time, drag our feet, risk their lives to put them in mortal danger by making excuses and waiting. elizabeth: what the doctor was just saying, it feels like deeply unserious rhetoric, senator. feels like we're back in 1998 when the clinton administration was warned about this. remember in 1993 the world trade center attack was a warm-up to 2001. we had no personal assets on the ground. the state department conceded they needed taliban authorization to let americans go. watch this. >> without personnel on the ground we can't verify the

accuracy of manifests, the identities of passengers, flight plans or aviation security protocals. so this is a challenge. elizabeth: a challenge? seriously? why didn't they understand that ahead of time, senator, when everyone else in the country did? now he says this after they pulled out troops first? did they think it would be like working with the dmv of afghanistan who arrested u.s. citizens? there is no paperwork there. our citizens and allies are left behind terror lines. your reaction, senator? >> my reaction is what i her from our allies in the uk and brussels this past weekend when i was there meeting with our allies, talking to them about their frustration to the situation. they emphasized to me, what we happened we allowed the calendar to drive our conditions rather than the conditions on the ground. we should have never evacuated our military before we had our american citizens out. what we have had is loss of american lives. we may be looking at the biggest hostage crisis in modern history. we've had now a diminishment of

america's reputation across the world. elizabeth: you know, to the senator's point experts warn afghanistan is an even bigger hub for terror than before 9/11 and doctor, now you see china moving to occupy bagram airbase which the administration surrendered. china wants to use bagram airbase as hub for its big belt and road initiative to take over the world's infrastructure. pakistan reportedly helping china here. your reaction, doctor? >> that is no surprise at all, liz. one reason we were over there and in several countries like uzbekistan, and tajikistan was establish a footprint to help check china as they grew and got more aggressive. the fact we have given all these up, every single airbase back to native countries as well as china and several billion dollars in u.s. armaments and top military secrets is unbelievable and i can't believe that our military strategists

approved this kind of plan. elizabeth: senator, americans don't feel safe. polls show that. they find the rhetoric deeply unserious for nancy pelosi to call this and president to call this an extraordinary success of what happened in afghanistan but, senator, now is this true, democrats are blocking republican demands for investigations into afghanistan? we're talking alexandria ocasio-cortez, rashida tlaib, cori bush and ayana pressley. is that true. >> i have heard reports but doesn't surprise me because they don't want to investigate this because it is enormously embarrassing to the biden administration. what we find out, domestic politics, put press releases ahead of conditions on the ground. what they have driven for is another messaging opportunity. joe biden wanted to celebrate the fact on 20th anniversary of 9/11 he was the president that brought american troops home. instead he precipitate addition sasster of incredible proportion. not only left americans behind

scientists say you do not need this research for vaccine and drugs. what do you say? >> it is troubling that the research apparently was funded by the nih and probably even more disturbing it was funded in a country with whom we have an occasional adversarial relationship. it is hard to see how anyone how the this would work out well but, i've been trying to get my hand on the 900 page report. the nih owes the committee of jurisdiction, our committee, energy and commerce, subcommittee of oversight and explanation owes us an explanation of material they provided to "the intercept." i hope that happens quickly. in fact several months ago in may, before the administration, before president biden announced he would do an internal investigation of the origins of the wuhan lab leak, we were promised a hearing in the energy and commerce committee by the chairwoman of the subcommittee on oversight and investigations

and we're still waiting. the administration report has been turned in. it was inconclusive. we need to have that hearing. >> why are the democrats blocking this? they look so deeply unserious about this when more than 650,000 americans are now dead from a pandemic? do we need a special counsel for this? because remember, dr. fauci vehemently denied funding gain of function research to senator rand paul during testimony earlier this year saying senator paul was wrong. senator paul says the new documents show he was right. "the washington post" says it was $50 million went out the door from nih, naid. that is why it was a problem. china was using multiple labs reports show of the labs have a history of leaking. china was accrediting on its own these were biosafety level four labs. they weren't. they don't have the proper safety protocols. we're talking they are trying to weaponize, make airborne things

like ebola. one contract with the wuhan lab shows the nih-aid, did demand a detailed description what they were doing for his approval. why is denying this to congress? why is he stonewalling? >> you know, that is a question he needs to answer. look, dr. fauci is no stranger to congressional committees. he knows how to do this. he knows how to testify. he needs to come before our committee of energy and commerce and certainly be welcomed to tell his side of the story but also at the same time we need the documents that the intertent has received from nih to be able to formulate the correct questions and to delve into the correct information but right now what we're left with is a back and forth that has not been helpful. and to answer your first question why are the democrats, you put it very well unserious

about this investigation? i can't answer that question for you. i hope they will answer that question but the fact of the matter remains they seem intent on spending 3 1/2 trillion dollars with no hearings or oversight. at the same time we should be suspending that, getting on with the investigation of how was our country so badly harmed. elizabeth: congressman, you make an important point. why do we need foia documents to get at information that the u.s. taxpayer is paying for, that affects u.s. taxpayer, where u.s. taxpayers are being abused here? why isn't the white house declassifying this? we're talking about "the washington post" story too found that dr. fauci and the nih director were undercutting an oversight panel inside the nih responsible for oversight of this giving themselves the veto power over what that oversight body was doing secretly and defining on their own, dr. fauci was defining what gain of function virus research really means. they were making it up on the fly so they could avoid

to lose, the democrats will lose next year in the house of representatives. therefore she wants to go in the sunset because she knows will be stepping down passed four new major entitlements and major expansions of medicare, medicaid, obamacare who knows what else, electric cars and the like. maybe that is why they want to ram it through. they figure okay, they lost in 2010, but by golly they kept obamacare in place. so they may lose this time but they will trial up in terms of policy. that is why it is so important on that so-called 3 1/2 trillion dollar bill which we know is really 6 or 7 trillion, they don't put in these entitlements. numbers don't count. what counts if they put in the entitlements, they can start them at one dollar, within years they will be tens of billions, hundreds of billions of dollars. substance of those bills that count, not the numbers they proffer out there. elizabeth: steve, that is an important point you made, it is hard to get red i have

entitlements once enacted? >> absolutely. what joe manchin said in the essay is so important. all the entitlements should be done after careful debate, review, discussion, not rammed through on quick budget bill that they want to do in a matter of days or weeks. these should be done over months. that is why they want to ram it through. i hope manchin and others, senator manchin and others keep their backbone, say no on these entitlements, no on these expansions. they should be treated as separate bills, properly debated. elizabeth: steve, feels like americans may not see what the democrats are doing is historic. they're doing war-time level ever spending and tax hikes when we're at a war on terror but this usually see like something after world war ii. we have a new poll from zogby analytics, show one in five democrats regret voting for joe biden. he is weakened right here. makes him harder to pressure

democrats to get in lyne to do his massive spending when top democrats like senator manchin saying you know what? i will vote against 2/3 of the 3 1/2 trillion dollar spending package that pelosi schumer want. reports are coming in they don't know what is in the tax-and-spend packages. they haven't red it. what do you say? >> that is absolutely true. you get such crazy things in the bills no one knows what is in them even after they're passed, weeks and months afterwards. people comb through like archaeological site and find strange artifacts stuffed into these bills. hopefully senator manchin, senator sinema and others will say no, and state no, not let them pass the things with fake low numbers, knowing what was going to happen down the road. the tax increases we know would destroy this economy and give us what we haven't seen since the 1970s. that is rising prices and a stagnant economy. they used to call stating nation. this will be stagflation ii.

documents obtained this week by the out let, "the intercept." no coverage of that. serious news stories that matter to americans, they don't uncover them. unserious stories, that cover their biases they cover those. elizabeth: one source story. the doctor at center of it. he is not a hospital worker. didn't treat any overdoses. employee after staffing agency that staffs emergency departments in hospitals. only seen a handful of ivermectin in oklahoma hospitals. some added to them there yeah, but poison control is not hearing calls that we're being poisoned with ivermectin. they received a dozen maybe. they rolled on the story that the hospitals were so overrun. the issue is single source stories. that is what the media goes with. your reaction? >> this is a problem throughout the media. we call this derivative

journalism. it is not really journalism. it is basically a quote given to a local news out let where a bunch of other places call themselves news outlets, misinterpret it, send it out to the public. this same group of people routinely attacks the american public, consuming misinformation they read on facebook and their friends and family are sharing. the truth is the american media is the source of some of the most dangerous information that they cook up. elizabeth: we saw in a headline in msnbc, that florida governor ron desantis is misinformed of covid-19. he is the governor. he is concerned and i knows the scope of this virus. what he is talking about is having government workers harass families in his state. he doesn't want that. let's watch the florida governor hitting back at dr. fauci for misinformation over things like vaccine mandates and herd immunity.

watch this. >> what i said was if you're going to force vaccine mandates on people, just understand that what the data is showing us about the vaccine. the data is showing us you're much less likely to hospitalize or die if your vaccinated. the vaccinations have not created herd immunity. so the idea is that having herd immunity you force everyone to do this, that will create herd immunity. that has not happened. fauci also said it if 50% were vaccinated you would not see any surges anymore. that isn't true. >> i don't want biomedical security state in which we're constantly having to do this just to be able to live everyday life. at the end of the day the vaccine has helped people ward off severe illness, very hard to distribute it. at the end of the day though it is what somebody, your health whether you want that protection

or not. elizabeth: are reporters and journalists covering fully what governor desantis is saying? >> no. they make him out to be the villain. the difference here between ron desantis and dr. fauci is that ron desantis treats voters like they're in charge. dr. fauci treats them like they're children who work for him. we've seen that throughout the pandemic. obviously it is two different visions of the way this country should be run. dr. fauci has been caught on the record by his own acknowledgement lying multiple times including to "the new york times." he said he intentionally was changing herd immunity thresholds based on public polling. he remains the highest paid employee in the entire federal government. ron desantis has not only dr. fauci to push back against, much of the american news media. elizabeth: it is astonishing how much people need to get correct information and it feels, it is disturbing that some instances they don't get that information. vince collagnese. always good to have you on. up next former nypd lieutenant,

elizabeth: back with us now, arizona attorney general mark brnovich. sir, it's great to have you bakken on. we have homeland security officials warning that the white house is rushing the processing of afghan refugees, that corners are being cut. what are you hearing? are you worried about this? >> well, we're obviously worried about it, liz, because border security is national security. when you look at the catastrophe in afghanistan, there are literally tens of thousands of people that haven't been vetted. we know as a fact that 2-4,000 people have been failed to properly been vetted are right now in the heart of europe in a place that the e.u. doesn't even recognize as a state. so the biden administration is sending a clear signal to the world that if you are a failed state or you're a terrorist,
