update. congressman, you were at the hearing today. your reaction to the secretary of state's testimony? >> liz, many questions, few answers. one in particular in the statement both in an email and proa website the secretary's people said that you should not count on the u.s. government to get you out of afghanistan. he absolutely rebuked that, except we took it from his website and we received it in an email when we asked about getting help getting more of our american citizens out of afghanistan. this was just one of many cases in which this administration and this secretary are in denial of the fact. the fact is they sent false messages including the president denying that the country was going to fall. now they want us to believe they simply didn't know until the last few days, even after 85% of the country had fallen they were still in denial. then when it altered into chaos they act like it was a surprise. he didn't have any answers to

any of that today, it is still going on. elizabeth: congressman, the sense they're playing politics with this because intelligence officials have been repeatedly saying to this administration it will collapse quickly. they started warning about that months and months ago. now we have got three republican congressman, lee zeldin, scott perry, and let's see the other one, we have joe wilson, saying secretary of state, you need to resign. watch representative michael mccaul. i would like your reaction to what michael mccaul said. watch this. >> mr. secretary, the american people don't like to lose especially not to the terrorists but that is exactly what has happened. this has emboldened the taliban and our adversaries. the taliban, a designated terrorist group, now equipped with american weapons that most countries in the world, just a few weeks ago, thousands of terrorists, the worst of the worst, were all released from

prisons as the taliban overran the country. the situation we find ourselves in is far worse in my judgment as a former chairman of homeland security committee, far worse than pre-9/11. elizabeth: congressman, he is saying it is a failed jihadist state right now. your reaction to the criticism of the trump deal releasing 5000 taliban prisoners but the trump deal also had conditions on it. the secretary of state seemed to be downplaying that deal today. your reaction to all of that? >> when president trump left office americans were not dying, we were providing air support to hold the taliban in check in every position so they were not gaining ground. we had air supremacy, that gave the afghan troops the edge that they would have needed to hold this country indefinitely. we were doing so with just 2500 troops. 1/10 as many as we still have in

south korea. to push it back on trump with a successful program and then claim that somehow this debacle belongs to a man who left office eight months ago, when we were stable, in fact those forces were doing the job successfully without a single american die something simply disinagain voice. that is what ranking member mccaul called out, he also called out, most importantly, liz, we now have a terrorist state with $85 billion of advanced u.s. weapons they can trade, sell, use around the globe and they will certainly do that with many of the worst of the worst around the globe, including those that danger our immediate allies in the region. elizabeth: former president trump saying iran, russia, china, the taliban can reverse engineer our equipment and copycat it. china has been big on copycatting too. like your reaction to jen wilson. coo of army week association.

she is helping to evacuate americans. she says u.s. citizens are still trapped. watch this. >> well, i mean we haven't moved on. we've been working, you know, 48 hour shifts with no sleep, literally with no sleep. we basically had to roll up a private airline and a travel agency in a span of three weeks because we have over 20,000 requests for evacuation just through our website alone, and that is americans, that is green cardholders, that is nato passport holders. there are, i can't even count how many pregnant females we're trying to evacuate. it's definitely not over. elizabeth: not over. congressman, can you elaborate on this? >> one of those pregnant women, an american citizen is one of my constituents, we're working with her, her husband and her father. they were at the gate and were not admitted and left behind. no, there has not been a single u.s. flagged aircraft offered, there has not been a consistent

president biden's new vaccine mandate for government workers and businesses for being unconstitutional. edward lawrence has more from washington. edward? reporter: well, liz, small to medium size business owners are starting to grumble about this vaccine mandate the president wants to do in a rule through osha. jerry acres owns 36 great clip locations. he is for vaccines but against mandates because it would put undue burden on his business. >> we had to pay for so many things. the enhanced cleaning of the stores, those kind of things, masks, the list goes on and on here. so now potentially we have to pay for these tests i can tell you half of our staff is not interested in vaccines. so the cost gets exorbitant. small business has to pass that along to their customers. the american public will end up paying for that. reporter: he says he is concerned this mandate will cause some of his employees to leave, to go to companies that

have under 100 employees. he is looking for 70 workers just to get back to full staffing. now the president says, this is not about freedom of choice. it is about protecting those around but former white house physician turned representative ronny jackson says this is about entitlement. >> that is just the thing we've seen over and over with this administration and with the democrats in control. forcing people to get a shot and and taking their personal freedoms away is not going to get this job done. reporter: the administration showing no signs of backing off of this plan. liz? elizabeth: edward lawrence thank you so much. good to see you. let's bring in georgia republican governor brian kemp. great to have you back on. your reaction to this reporting? >> not surprising. i'm hearing from people all weekend, a small business owner for 35 years. i can understand how frustrated they are. many people are working on this through the weekend and they simply don't know what they are going to have to do number one. number two, they don't have the people to do this.

lr directors don't have time dealing with apfederal man date. they are having trouble finding workers they need because the biden administration is paying them to stay home. this will drive runaway inflation we're seeing higher because of the costs associated with it. it is just not, it is not even fair and equitable. a huge company like a home depot or ups headquartered in georgia will have much different situation from the guy complaining that owns six hardware stores that has over 100 employees combined that said this is just nuts. that is what it is. elizabeth: we've got government worker unions also opposing the biden vaccine mandate. 2 trillion-dollar trade group representing consumer brands, coke, general mills, kellogg's, sent a letter, saying will you give exemption for our essential employees in our supply chains? effect if i havely what is happening the biden administration is exempting congress and the federal courts.

former president trump is saying you know what i will run again. he is blaming president biden, vice president kamala harris for vaccine hesitancy saying they disparaged the vaccines when he was president. your reaction to that? >> look, i think a good example what i told everybody when president biden said it. get vaccinated, take your mask off. now they're telling you that is not the case. they want you to put your mask back on. all these mixed guidances, guidelines when the booster shot is supposed to come out. there was raise visions about that the mixed messages on that. and all of that is giving people no confidence in the federal government in any guidance they're given which makes people further push back from taking the vaccine. what i've been telling people, talk to your doctor, talk to the local pharmacy. i believe the vaccine is a medical miracle of the trump administration with "operation warp speed." i've been vaccinated. my family has. there are a lot of businesses in

georgia working to get their employees vaccinated and implement programs work for their business. there is also people like, hey, hey, i got only 20% of my workforce vaccinated. if i force the other 80% i will lose them. they will go somewhere else. we'll lose our business. elizabeth: so we've had vaccines for measels, for polio, for smallpox, for swine flu, how is it different? >> it is different in a lot of ways because it is so new. it is safe, effective, i believe that. there are people that have doubt out there because they haven't been full all three authorized yet and mixed messages out of the biden administration. like the aides vaccine. mandated it didn't work. it only worked after educating people it was a good idea. we need to do that with the covid vaccination.

♪. elizabeth: we're coming into the bottom of the hour. you're watching the fox business network. the house and the senate back in washington from vacation. the fight over president biden's 3 1/2 trillion dollar plan, it is now ramping up among democrats, tax hikes they're pretty big. hillary vaughn on capitol hill with the very latest. hillary. reporter: liz, house democrats are trying to raise trillions of dollars in tax revenue to cover the $3.5 trillion tab for president biden's social spending priorities but are trying to do it responsibly, playing a game of limbo with the tax code to keep moderates happy but it is coming up short of what the president was asking for. the pay-fors on the table from the house ways and means committee include raising the corporate tax rate to 26.5%,

biden wanted to raise it to 28%. house democrats also proposed raising capital gains taxes to 25%, falling way short of the more than 39% biden wanted. there are some extras targeting wealthy. 3% tax on anyone making more than five million dollars. the proposal completely leaves out biden's idea to tax appreciated assets held by the wealthy until they die, getting rid of a rule step up in basis that was also not included, liz. elizabeth: thank you, hillary. wonder what that nice lady was saying to the president there. looks like she was giving him a talking to. look who is back on the show, from house budget, small business and oversight, he is congressman byron donalds. what is your prediction what will happen here, sir? what do you think is going to happen? >> listen, i honestly really don't know. the democrats they do this a lot. their bill is outrageous. it is atrocious.

earnings for those companies because of the tax hikes. look at this, congressman, even the associated press has a headline, the news is this, that democrats see that they will lose in the midterms next year and they're using this grab bag of pork and spending wish-lists in order to get reelected. shouldn't we be more outraged they want to take $3 trillion out of the u.s. economy, out of u.s. taxpayers, then pay for themselves to get reelected? >> we absolutely should be outraged. the thing that should be more outrageous to all businesses, joe biden has been a disasterous president of the united states. you want to give him $3.5 trillion? not to mention the other 1.2 sitting in the infrastructure bill? that is outrageous enough. we've been distracted with afghanistan which has been awful. we've been distracted with the covid mandates which is awful. what is happening in the background you're 100% correct, nancy pelosi is lit rally

the situation on the ground in country as well as no real plan moving forward. so it was quite disappointing, and yet secretary blinken is a, a fair, experienced american diplomat. so i was quite disappointed with his performance and his virtual dodging of answers. elizabeth: congressman, there was a heated moment between representative scott perry and secretary of state antony blinken. let's take a listen. >> did state at any point in the evacuation process block american citizens from leaving afghanistan? >> no, we did not. >> i want to know how many afghan citizens came to the united states had not met the qualifications for special immigrant visa? >> we're in the process of -- >> no, how many? how many, how many did you bring. you were just at dulles. how many did you bring. >> we'll have by the end of the month we will have a brought a total of 60,000. >> that have not met the siv process? >> some of those will have been through the siv process.

elizabeth: and now "the washington post" reporting 44 evacuees out of afghanistan potentially have terror ties. they were stopped at u.s. bases. can you elaborate on that? >> it is terrible. paying close attention to the sivs and 124,000 that have been evacuated. most are in third countries as we know. being vetted as well as possible. but when you do something in such haste, such a rush, that is tragically why we lost 13 of our soldiers men and women on the ground because this thing was being done in such a highly, disorganized, chaotic manner. it is of great concern. i do think they're putting resources against it. the idea we will perfectly vet this, for those coming into the united states is, is not simply not possible with the numbers. that is another reason why i said today to secretary blinken, i said will the biden administration close and secure the southern border?

james smith, he's the husband of the only female new york city police officer who died on 9/11, he slammed politicians saying when the country needed police officers, we were the first ones there to respond. what's your reaction to what he's saying? >> oh, absolutely. we have to fund the police. we have to make sure that the police are strong and that they are capable in our country. they are our first defense against terrorism, against criminality. there is no place safer for me in the world as a muslim mother than the united states of america, and it's because of our police. elizabeth: parents are upset in virginia what's going on with the department of education there? >> oh, elizabeth, you can't even believe this. you know that for the last 20 years i've been fighting islamic extremism within my community as a muslim reformer. well, a year ago we started seeing in our school systems this new indoctrination, this

politics coming into the school system. well, you cannot believe this, but on the eve of the september 11th anniversary just a couple weeks ago, the virginia department of education put forward a webinar in which a woman named amara left her teachers and told them to deny american exceptionalism and to call the terrorists who did the 9/11 hijackers extremists. not to mention islam and to absolutely not call them terrorists. i call this a woke washing of history. and it's a complete slap in the face of parents and families and is all of the americans and others who lost so many lives on 9/11 and have had such ripple effects from the trauma. so this is something that weed stood up against because we cannot allow this kind of indoctrination now to come into our classrooms and into our young kids' minds.
