joins us. your reaction to the secretary of state's testimony in. >> well, t liz, many questions, few answers and one in particular where in the statement both in an e-mail and from a web site, the secretary's people said that you should not count on the u.s. government to get you out of afghanistan. he absolutely rebuked that, except we took it from his web site, andwe we received it in an e-mail when we asked about help getting more of our american citizens out of afghanistan. so this was just one of many cases in which this administration and this secretary are in denial of the facts. the fact is they sent false messages including the president denying that the country was going to fall, and now they want us to believe they simply didn't know until the last few days. even after 85% of the country had fallen, they were still in denial. and then when it all turned into chaos, they act like it was a surprise. he didn't have s any answers to

any of that today, and it is still going on. elizabeth: congressman, the sense is that they're playing politics with this because intelligence officials have been appropriatedly saying to this administering -- repeatedly saying it will collapse quickly. they started warning about that months ago. lee zeldin, scott perry and, let's see the other one, we have joe wilson saying secretary of state, you need to resign. let's watch representative michael mccaul. congressman, i'd like you ioreaction to this. watch. >> mr. secretary, the american people don't like to lose. especially not to the terrorists. but that is exactly what has happened. this has emboldened the taliban and our adversaries. the taliban, a designated terrorist group, now equipped with american weapons that most countries in the world, just a few weeks ago thousands of terrorists, the worst of the

worst, were all released from prisons as the taliban overran the country. the situation we find ourselves in is far worse, in my judgment, as a former chairman of homeland security committee, far worse than pre-9/11. elizabeth: congressman, he's sasaying it's a failed jihadist state right now. your reaction to the criticism of the trump releasing -- trump deal releasing 5,000 taliban prisoners, o but they also had conditions on it. the secretary of state seemed to be downplaying it today. your reaction to all of that? >> when president trump left office, americans were not diagnose, we were providing air support to hold the taliban in check in every position so they were not gaining ground. we had air supremacy, and that gave the afghan troops the edge that they would have needed to ihold this country indefinitely can, and we were doing so with just 2500 troops, one-tenth as h

president biden's new vaccine mandate for government workers andke businesses for being unconstitutional. edward lawrence has more. from washington. edward. >> reporter: well, liz, small to medium-sized business owners are starting to grumble about this vaccine mandate the president wants to do and a rule through osha jerry acres owns 38 great clips locations, he is against mandates because it wouldut put undue burden on his business. >> you know, we've had to pay for so many things, the enhanced, you know, cleaning of the stores and is those kinds of things, masks and, you know, the list goes on and on here. i said now potentially we've got to pay for these tests, and i can tell you we'll have probably half of our staff that's not interested in vaccines. so the cost just gets exorbitant, and small business has to pass that along to its customers. >> reporter: he says he's concerned this mandate will cause some of his employees to leave and go to companies that

h.r. directors don't have time to be dealing with a federal mandate. they're having trouble finding the workers they need because the biden administration's been paying them to stay home. this is going to drive runaway inflation that we're already seeing even higher because of the costs associated with it. and it's just not, i mean, it's not even fair and equitable. when a huge company like a home depot ups is headquartered in georgia is going to have a much different situation from theav y that'sn complaining that owns x hardware stores that has over 100 employees combined that says this is just nuts, and that's what it is. elizabeth: government worker unions also opposing it, the $2 trillion trade group ndrepresenting coke, general mills, kellogg's, they sent a letter saying will you give exemptions for our essential employees and supply chains? effectively, the biden administration is exemptingen congress and also the federal courts, and now we've got former president trump saying, you know

what? i'm goingyo to run again. east blaming president -- he's blaming president biden and vice president harris for vaccine hesitancy. your reaction the that in. >> well, look, i think a good example is what i told everybody when president biden said is it, you know, get vaccinated, take the mask off. now they're telling you that's not the case, they want you to put your mask back on, and all these mixed guidances and guidelines, when booster shot's supposed to come out, then there was reservations about that, the mixedd messages on that, and all of that has given people no confidence in the federal government in any guidance that they're giving which just makes people further push back from taking the vaccine. what i've been simply telling people is talk to your doctor. talk to your local pharmacist. i believe the vaccine's a medical miracle of the trump administration with operation warp speed. i've been vaccinated, my family has. there's a lot of businesses in

georgia that are working to get their employees vaccinated and implementing programs that work for their business, but there's also people who say, hey, i've got only 20 of my work -- 20% of my work force vaccinated, if i force the other 80%, they're going to go somewhere else, and is we're to going to lose our business. elizabeth: how is this vaccine different? >> well, i think it's different in a lot of ways because it's so new. even though it's very safe, it's very effective, we know that. there are people that have doubts because they haven't been all three fully authorized yet and the mixed messaging out of the biden administration. and plus just like the aids vaccine, mandating that didn't work. it only worked when they started educating people why it was a good idea that. 's what we need to continue to do with thedu covid vaccine. elizabeth: we've got biden administration officials including jen psaki, house speaker pelosi, the president andti vice president, dr. fauci

repeatedly said, don't worry, we will not impose a mandate. dr. fauci predicts even more local vaccine mandates, but he says he can't give a firm answer on natural immunity. we see new cdc data showing a test of 1.5 million blood donors finds vaccinations and antibodies from prior infections show that aged 16 and up, 83% have immunity. that sure sounds like herd immunity. so when you hear dr. fauci on camera, you don't see him citing his own -- the cdc data indicating 83% of those 16 or older have immunity. so we're just drilling down into the government's numbers here. we've got the florida governor, ron desantis, he's out with a new plan saying anybody in the state, you try to do a vaccine mandate, we will fine you $5,000 per incident. governor, i want yourat reaction to what chris christie and scott gottlieb said this weekend about

corporate tax rate to 26.5%. biden wanted to raise it to 28%. house democrats also proposed a raising capital gains taxes to 25%, falling way short of the more than 39% biden wanted. there's also some extras targeting the wealthiest, 3% tax on anyone making more than $5 million.on the proposal also completely leaves out biden's idea to tax appreciated assets held by the wealthy until they die, getting rid of a rule called step up in basis. that was also not included. liz in.ab elizabeth: thank you, hillary. i wonder what that nice lady was saying to the president there. looked like she was giving him a talking to. atrocious, everybody knows it. they're trying to find pay-fors, there's no way you can find it allay for $3.5 from trillion a year. that's just the reality of it. that's a washington gimmick. i hope it fails. i hope that's the trend line we're going on, but i really don't know. they find a way to twist arms in a back room and get people to vote for this monstrosity. this is purely insane. there's no way at all we should be spending this kind of money on all these projects when we understand that if you do this, it's going to cripple our economy with more inflation, it's going to make it significantly harder for our businesses to compete if, it's going to raise prices on working poor families and on fixed income seniors. not a good plan for our country. elizabeth: and, congressman, a singular outrage we keep hearing over and over again, nancy pelosi, senator chuck schumer have not, again, they've not read the bill in its entirety. we don't know what's inside it. goldman sachs is warning this will slam the s&p 500.

earnings for those companies because of the tax hikes. and look at this, congressman. even the associated press has a headline. the news is this: that democrats see that they will lose in the midterms next year, and they're using this grab bag or pork and spending wish list in order to get re-electioned. shouldn't we be more outraged that they want to take $3 trillion out of the u.s. economy, out of u.s. taxpayers and then o pay for themselves to get reelected? >>le we absolutely should be outraged, and the thing that should be more outrageous to all of us is this: joe biden's been a disastrous president of the united states. and youis want to give him $3.5 trillion? not about to mention the other $1.2 sitting in the infrastructure bill. that's outrageous enough. we've been distracted with afghanistan which has been awful, and we've been distracted with these covid mandates which is awful. but what's happening in the background is that you're 100% correct, nancy pelosi is

of those will have been through the siv process. elizabeth: and now the "the washington post" reporting 44 evacuees potentially have terror ties and were stopped at u.s. bases. can you elaborate on that? >>bl yeah, it's terrible. we've been paying close attention to the sivs and the 124,000 that have been evacuated. most are in third countries as we know being vetted as well as possible, but when you do something in such a rush, that's tragically why we lost 13 of our soldiers, men and women on the ground. because this thing was being done in such a highly disorganized, chaotic manner. it's a great concern. i do think they're putting the resources against it, but the idea that we will perfectly vet this for those coming into the united states is not, similar prosecute -- simply not possible9 with the numbers. and that's another reason why i said will the biden administration close and secure the southern border, and he

virtually gave me a nonanswer. you know, this whole thing was a lot of blaming, blaming everyone, the trump administration, blaming everybody but themselves, the biden administration, and the taliban. and it's a shame. elizabeth: you know, in the middle of their blaming, they're not disclosing and continuing to stonewall senator chuck grassley and house republicans that have beenli asking questions on who s coming into the country. they want to know that, and they want to know the americans stranded. they're still not giving that detail. now, president obama, former president obama and then-vice president joe biden and susan rice had said it is a sacred duty to leave no american behind. they referred to that when they were doing the swap with former army deserter bowe bergdahl for the five taliban prisoners. so what changed? why doesn't secretary of state blinken just stand up and say, mr. president, your rushed, artificial deadline as the u.k., europe and nato have been warning, you don't need to have

this artificial deadline, it's causing chaos, you will strand americans behind. why doesn't he stand up and say stop? >> he certainly should have been, liz, and hopefully he's regretting it and hopefully that makes them stronger moving forward. as you know, we had this ridiculous september 11th date which you couldn't have chosen a worse date. they moved it up into august which was even a worse move for, likely, political purposes, so they could have that hero moment. but having hero moments with -- in this dangerous manner with lives at stake and dealing with the taliban is highly, highly outrageous. and so it is what it is at point. they must get serious is, they must m be transparent, they've t to be more honest, they've got to realize the crisis that's been developed here. i mean, we have men and women that were part or allies in afghanistan right now that are being tracked and traced and

killed and taken hostage by the taliban as we speak. and that needs to be recognized, and we need to deal with this from a position of strength. rthey refuse to do that. elizabeth: the u.k. parliament already condemned the president for rushing this and creating this chaos, and former u.k. prime minister tony blair basically said what you're doing is, quote, imbecilic. so what was most trouble rting for republicans, quote, we inherited a deadline and no plan. when you look at the government documents, what he said is flat out untrue. >> it is untrue. and again, i used this analogy, i said it was like me planning a fishing trip, a day to leave, the hurricane comes in, tony blinken goes out anyway and blames it i on me, right? that's very foolish and certainly not being honest with the american people and just, you know, putting the blame certainly where it doesn't d belong. elizabeth: okay.

politics coming into the school system. on the eve of the september 11th anniversary, just a couple weeks ago, the virginia department of education put forward a webinar in which a woman named amara lectured teachers and told them to deny american exceptionalism and to call the terrorists who did the 9/11 hijackers extremists. mention islam and to absolutely not call them terrorists. if i call this a woke washing of history, and it's a complete slap in the face of parents and families and all of the americans and others who lost so many lives on 9/11 and have had such ripple effects from the trauma. and so this is something that we stood up against because with we cannot allow this kind of indoctrination to come into our classrooms and into our young kids' minds.
