money to the taxpayers, shrink the size and scope of government but they have left us on the sidelines. so it is up to them to pass this continuing resolution and raise this debt ceiling because they're the ones who control the levers of government and they don't want any part of our involvement. elizabeth: so they want to raise taxes. by the way they want five trillion all-in spending. it is intrinsically inextricably linked by progressives. they will not break out infrastructure from the social spend. it is five times the of italy and france. it makes zero economic sense to do what was done under the eisenhower administration, put us all in upper bracket tax rates of 60%. we've been here before. kennedy cut taxes. reagan cut taxes of the models congress and democrats use are, so out of date their models. even unreagan they said, you will not get beyond 3% growth.

well guess what? growth doubled when they cut taxes. so it is like we're back to the future again. we've already learned these lessons. why do we keep going round and round the bend? >> he is taking carter malaise to a whole new level. essentially saying make the corporate tax rate higher than china's. let's raise the capital gains rate, let's raise the death tax. the tobacco excise tax which will hit working families. his promises to keep tax increases to those earning more than 400,000 a year has gone by the wayside long time ago. so he is looking to tax everyone and everything that moves and that is just the beginning of the bernie sanders budget that they're trying to pass right now. elizabeth: it feels like we're the moderates. where are the centrists? the country is moderate around centrist for the most part. it feels like the circus, you know, ferris wheel fell off its axis and it is going careening

that's true and really what happened with the alfa bank story parallels almost precisely what happened with the steele dossier. in fact one of the, one of the hilarious things that has now come out is that one of the, one of the steele memos, the one about the alfa bank, was actually fed to him by michael sussman who was just indicted. everybody thought it came from christopher steele but in fact it was fed to him by michael sussman. so you know, if you can think it, it turns out to be true in this situation. it was very important for the clinton campaign not to be seen as the source of these rumors about donald trump and russian collusion. and so they would feed this information through various cutouts. people like fusion gps, people like michael sussman, then when the investigation was launched they would go to the media to say, hey, this is serious. the fbi is looking at it and too

many members of the mainstream media were too comply ant spreading the story. really disgusting. elizabeth: democratic lawyer michael sussman pled not guilty lying to fbi. he got to sit down with general counsel james baker to begin with. he is friends with james baker reportedly. he told congressional investigators that he didn't know who sussman was representing, working with the dnc or clinton. how do you not know? he is your friend? jim jordan found that unbelievable. >> no, it's a little bit different than that of the notes that were taken by priestap indicated baker clearly now that sussman represented both the dnc and the clinton campaign and i believe that's why i asked him, all of sudden he has got sussman in his office and he says basically, essentially, look i know you, your firm represents the clinton campaign and -- elizabeth: wait, hang on. >> so what are you hear for, right? so what are you hear for today?

the clinton campaign, it was important to them to be able to say, wait a minute, the fbi is looking at this and you make an important point about james baker. is the fbi looking for plausible deniability here? you know, is it important for baker to be able to say, which is what the notes indicate, the contemporaneous notes to be able to say i asked whether or not, whether or not they represented anybody, whether sussman represented anybody with respect to this alfa bank report? and he said no. so was baker being a careful public servant or was he looking for plausible deniability? but there is another question, there are so many questions here be liz, what, why does a guy like sussman, what makes him able to just walz into the office of the general counsel of the fbi say i have information for you? that is highly irregular. an agent should have been

elizabeth: joining us now, former top dhs official lora rees is back with us. the associated press is reporting that the biden administration is secretly sending thousands of illegal aliens into the u.s. concerns are growing that border patrol officials have had it, they're quitting, and we're hearing potentially tens of thousands more migrants could be headed to the border. that's according to homeland security officials and reports. what do you say about it? >> yeah. well, these haitians that are coming here, they clearly intend to stay for a long time despite jen psaki's bizarre claim that they weren't intending to stay long. there's been reports that border patrol agents and i.c.e. agents have been injured, haitian migrants have overtaken buses and tried to escape. there's been reports that agents

have been bitten by migrants. and so, in fact, these, many of these migrants had already been resettled in chile and other south american countries, but they saw that the u.s. border was open, they sought to take advantage of it, they plan on applying if for asylum, claiming that they just came from haiti, and they are not eligible because they were already resettled, and we have to guard against asylum fraud. elizabeth: lora, you and i have been covering this story since 2016. as we see it involve, you see the media not reporting on it for years, you see the white house and the press secretary downplaying the crisis at the border as a challenge, you hear that from the homeland security secretary, then you have rodney scott. he's a 29-year veteran of, you know, border authority and national security.
