know anything about life until i did this. i realized i know nothing. kennedy: you've done a couple things? you've done a lot of things and including filing which is great. chad, there are obviously a lot of cannabis companies, we've reached critical mass finally where people can buy recreational or medical cannabis, how is tyson 2.0 cannabis. two other products out there? >> it's key if you look at the partner, who chose this that's given us national coverage. a technology company, who seems that brand and we feel confident with our new ceo who has quite a bit of experience in cannabis

of your book. he talked aboutt your sister, se got it 39, he looked identical and you talked about the recipe for making a rock star, take a child with a lot of imagination and's abandonment, you shake it up and there you have it. have you found other rock stars have such difficulty you had growing up? i think a lot of people who deal with traumatic situations go through struggles and stuff and sometimes end up being extremely creative and turn it into positive, part of the rising writing process of the book was to go back and i learned some things about my story but were not troops are got to find out stuff about my dad was one 100% a bad guy, i've been sober 20

years, when i went through rehab and with a message my dad an alcoholic and i am an alcoholic, imagine what it feels like now to live a life in sobriety and find out my dad was not in alcohol. this information was downloaded into my brain. the other thing i found out is d also. had a lot of great years as a kid bring raise my great grandparents living in the country. kennedy: yes, with your grandmother and grandfather, tommy would take you fishing, sounded like he was an incredible influence and then you got to i live, this is a grt turn in the story because you had a single mom and it got to talk about your mom because she's obviously very attractive and compelling y because she haa series of interesting boyfriends including musician what oneomome played with frank sinatra and i didn't read anything about your book so the part that blew my mind was your mom had a boyfriend, one of the only boyfriend she had was interested

in you and he was on the floor playing with you and telling you jokes that you are so funny, is this guy richard and said he was in touch with his inner child, please tell the t audience who that richard was who dated your mom's. >> richard pryor, one of the most mind blowing iconic trailblazing comedians of all time but when my mom was dating richard, probably 1964 or so, somewhere in there, i was about five or six years old and i didn't know it was an interracial relationship and i didn't know he was anything other than richard coming to the house spending time with me which i really enjoyed, made me laugh a lot and later in my life mom was like we had a hard time going to a restaurant, we get

dirty looks and i was like i didn't understand all of that and then in the 70s when i'm discovering my favorite bands and playing stuff all of a sudden, that richard, it's that richard, mind blowing. i haven't told a lot of people thaten so in writing the book, i kind of forgot about it to be honest. h sixty-two years old, first i was 20, that was a long time ago especially the first five or six or seven years so a lot of that was told with my family's voice so my aunt and uncle telling me about that and how richard really loved my mom, my mom was a bit of a wild child and she disappeared and he was trying ta find her all the time, where is she? wants to be with her and it's just kind of the way it was with my mom, men came and went it was my grandfather was more of a

father figure for me. kennedy: then you lived with your uncle don and his family, the president of capitol p recos ouand you didn't know it. he was like do you want to watch the olympics? you are like what are the olympics? you're going from wyoming to idaho to seattle and finally you make your way to l.a. but one of the things i loved, well, there are two things. one is how you discovered just caskey and how that influenced your rock writing and writing anthems and writing shot at the devil and to pass for love and kickstart my love and having anthems and porn site, you still read that to inspire you when you are writingti now? >> absolutely. for me early on, i remember my

mom and we were driving around los angeles andnd i remember hearing the song downtown and it's a story about everything happens downtown and as a kid my brain was like wow, where is this place? jimmy dean with big bad john and post stories and later it became writers like you talked about, being in hunter and i started being drawn to authors or poets who told stories. as i started to develop, i like the pistols but i like t rex but black sabbath and mixing them together but i don't want to have moon june fire desire lyrics into became an interesting thread in myn life and it influenced me and became part of motley crew's career.

if you look at the top of growth, growth, crews, the wild side," girl is simple white but it's pretty telling what's happening in hollywood documenting hollywood at its worst. kennedy: and you were there and were soo foundational in the sunset strip coming into a new era in the 80s and i moved to los angeles in a 1990 and i remember, that was before alternative had taken hold, before runge had a foothold and that scene was massive on the strip in reading your book and hearing your voice, if you don't want to pick up thek book, downloaded.

it adds that much more of a layer but my favorite story, you want to be in a band so bad, you had friends who would practice rick's house in seattle going to roosevelt high r school and you went to a music store and asked the guy for an application, he goes to the back, who showed up with an empty guitar case and put it in the guitar case and iwalked out. that is so punk rock, i love that. >> well as a part in the book row is breaking down these jobs i did and some were things like that, in this case i sold the guitar because i needed one because we had no money to buy a guitar but iui did things like petty crime weird jobs and they give it to my wife and she goes i didn't know i was married to such a criminal and whathe was missing in the h story, i would say we were doing these weird sneaky things in the 70s

selling illegal light bulbs online, it goes on and on but it was to my bass strings, afford gas to go to band rehearsal and have a bigger drum riser than anybody else on the strip so always about the big picture, someday being in one of the biggest bands in the world and i think accidentally in writing the book, there's a bit of a roadmap to success if you read it, i have a system, you get what you get when you put in there's a lot of quitters out there but you have to keep pushing and pushing whether it's family issues or people don't believe in your vision, keep pushing and very few people. kennedy: motley crew is proof of that, i y got to work with you n
