on fresh snow. "america's weather weekend" craig: part of the eastern state under. it warnings and a powerful storm could drop two feet of snow on boston as it moves up the coast. winds in new england could guest is high 70 miles an hour. new york city and philadelphia in the storm's path.

waves are crashing against the seawall at high tide and street starting to flood in atlantic city, new jersey, rhode island and rhode island is banning all nonemergency travel. your travel not much better, airlines have canceled thousands of flights and once the storm moves through, intense cold will follow meaning many will be shivering with power outages. welcome to "america's weather weekend". amy: we will be here with extended coverage through 10:00 pm eastern time, looking at what has come in so far, a foot of snow at the jersey shore just incredible, wents gusting about 50 miles an hour in massachusetts with top wind speeds coming in. this storm has bombed out with an intense pressure drop into could drop even more. craig: when we talk about a bomb cycle it has to drop 24

millibars in 24 hours. it is on that. that means a strong intense storm. we begin this hour with a live view of ocean city, new jersey, the blizzard warning in effect until 4:00 eastern. look at the flag on the left side of your screen just blowing and snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, some spots could get a foot of fresh snow, winds gusting is high as 50 miles per hour. let's get you going with what we have because this storm continues, massachusetts feeling the brunt of the storm as -- it has been a major concern, travel, for most spots. a lot of -- if you don't have to travel it is a saturday but a lot of you have to travel anyway. we will keep you updated. the main street and main roads are starting to be cleared but there's a major concern with

this storm. the pressure has dropped significantly. you can see it just off the coast. those black lines, those isobar i packed tightly together. when you see this number go down that is an indication of the storm getting stronger, more intense, those winds, closer these bars are together the stronger the winds. this is a major storm. we were watching it all week long, the winds out of the north northeast which gives it its name, nor'easter, boston, these are the sustained winds. farmingdale 29, ocean city 18. the wind gusts have been 40 to 50 miles per hour. . it warnings in place along the coast down through delmarva. the blizzard warning, visibility of a quarter of a

mile or less for three hours. also winds of 35 miles per hour or so. those criteria need to be met to get a blizzard warning. doesn't have anything to do with temperature. more in the way of wind and visibility. winter storm warnings in place for the purple, extending from maine to new jersey and delmarva where we could another foot of fresh snow especially to the north, south of here a lot of the storm has passed. add a few more inches but a lot of the heavier snow goes to the north through the remainder of the day here. snowfall totals plenty of it, foot or snow, blue point new york, 13 inches of snow already. bay shore, 10.4. ice with at the airport, 10.3 inches snow in these numbers are adding up quickly. an hour ago was down to 9 inches and now it is down to 10. with snowfall at 1 to 3 inches per hour a lot of these numbers will go up quickly in the next 3 hours. also for delaware, 12 inches or

are intense. the biggest concern in gloucester, massachusetts, america's first fitting -- fishing village, it will turn 400 years old next year, they are concerned about the power. if they lose power here it is going to be a massive issue. coastal flooding another concern. in 2018, the last blizzard they experienced they did see some of the water in the atlantic rush into some of these streets and roads. people here are hunkering down. even if you are in a vehicle, that car is going to get pushed to the side and move a little bit. i weigh 200 pounds and when these wind gusts come i am tilted. it is like a hurricane except the blowing snow just kills your face. without his glasses i wouldn't be able to see camera i'm looking at right now.

intense conditions was the atlantic totally angry right now. the nor'easter, the bombohgenesis, millibars dropping with that pressure, snow plows, whenever there trying to remove snow and it is tough to tell how much snow has fallen because of the wind and the drifts. we have to assess that probably tomorrow. this is going to continue all day into the evening. we may end up with historic snow totals, potentially two feet or above. you stand here and get pelted. it is amazing, getting a bombohgenesis facial. i am loving it, watching us on foxbusiness a fox weather enjoy it, don't come out here. let us take the beating. craig: thanks for your report, stay safe. the snow blowing around all over the place. tough to tell the snow from the stand.

amy: waterford connecticut, 23 degrees, winds gusting to 38 miles an hour, windchill coming down but that is about it. because visibility is reduced, waterfor the 2 hour drive, blizzard warning in effect until 7:00 pm eastern and these white house conditions are likely through the middle of the day through early afternoon. we are forecasting 15 inches of snow, winds could gust to 16 miles an hour, freezing cold during and after the storm. look at the wind gusts in boston, 37 miles an hour. we have seen gusts in the 40s to 50 mile an hour range at the coastline. strong winds with intense bands.

the white band indicates the 2 inch per hour snowfall rate. the snow will stack up and we will measure in feet instead of inches. as the storm has intensified and moves further north edging into that spot off nantucket we expect the storm to be strongest. you see those bands filling in. already seeing a trend toward power outages in massachusetts, looking at this by 8:0078,000. a lot of trees and power lines and transformers below. the wind can really knock out the power quickly causing major problems. the jersey shore where we see a foot of snow, rain and snow pounding against shoreline. we will see that pattern. ian oliver is live where we

have a blizzard warning in long branch, new jersey. this has been just incredible. ocean county, new jersey looking at snow stacking up on cars and they are measuring in feet already, including monmouth county where you are. >> reporter: we have at least a foot of snow recorded. the forecast was 10 to 18 inches. that is verified. the wind forecast verifying as well. the wind has been relentless. to see anybody on the jersey shore, grand total of two people. i believe the yellow lab was enjoying the blizzard conditions most out of everybody. the big wind gusts. this ramp leading to the boardwalk, this is heavy snow. talking about feet ofsnow snow. it is deep snow but because of

the wind we have been talking about and snowdrifts. you get to the boardwalk where the wind has been so intense and snow relentless, it gets blown off of the boardwalk. there's a couple more people. and onto the beach. most folks staying out of these blizzard conditions. earlier we had the northeast winds. we see a bit of a wind shift to the north. a bit of an offshore breeze. you can see out to the atlantic, some big surf hitting the breakwater as well, some big waves, wind gusts are still up but without as much of an onshore component that does take some of the postal -- coastal flooding concerns out of this beach erosion is still a concern. one more high tide cycle later this evening at 5:00. we have to watch for high water, minor flooding possible.

future track, all of boston seeing heavier blasts of snow even into the late morning, 10:00 am. we continue to push it further and see snow coming at a consistent rate well into the afternoon. traveling is near possible in this area, any of the area highways until all the snow moves out of the way and clears out by later tonight into tomorrow. today is a washout if you're heading through the rest of the weekend, stay indoors, keep close to home and don't try to travel. tomorrow you could get out once the roads are cleared. looking at the total some areas seeing upwards of a foot of snow. most -- massachusetts, southeastern portions of massachusetts will higher. you see the darker purple shade, more than 8 feet of snow. getting hit pretty hard with

15.5 inches snow so far. cio city, new jersey, 14 inches of snow. tom's river, 12.52 oceanview. you see so much snow coming down from this storm on top of the wind and the big waves. from providence through new york city into new jersey, to philadelphia, atlantic city, allentown, snow is coming down, a lot of snow was moving into the carolinas this morning. is a look at delmarva, brighter of white is where the heavier snow bands are. visibility goes down quickly from half a mile to less than that. fine snow blows around, blizzard warnings extend over delmarva. in the carolinas winter weather advisories, a storm warning in places like asheville, the smokies, heavy snow at times

through higher elevations. the wind is sustained from 15 to 20, 25 at dover, mostly north, started to become more northwesterly with that fine snow, champagne style snow blowing around, visibility down to a mile or less, cambridge a quarter of a mile. you see why it is important to be on the roads if you are getting the little ones out together walk in, the roads are a different story. this is coming down. we have a lot going on through the remainder of the day. amy: we have more on this nor'easter with our weather team along the east coast, wind speeds, 18 to 35 miles an hour, strong winds to come as the storm intensifies. craig: a live shot. wildwood, new jersey it is coming down here. we are seeing snow and winds have been pretty gusty, we will see the winds we with is a good portion of the day as we lose snow but snowfall totals have been impressive. even to blue point, new york with 13 inches of fresh snow and you are not done yet.

bay shore, 10.4. at the airport, 10 inches of fresh snow and wind blowing around, with the winds up to 50 or 60 miles per hour. snow, all the blue but where you see bright bands of weight you see heavier snow invisibility dropping quickly. atlantic city getting more in the way of snow. forked river, new jersey up to 15.5 inches of snow. cio city 13, over a foot 2 oceanview, new jersey, 12 inches of fresh snow. are we done? not yet. the storm continues to move through. portions of maine, this is what is to come. the dark purple, 18 to 24 inches of fresh snow.

some places could see more. shades of pink all the way to hartford, 8 to 12 inches. closer to albany, western new jersey and philadelphia, the storm along the coast. the center of circulation off the coast, northeast wind coming through. this snow goes to new york and delmarva, you're filling the chill. it is so cold, finer snow, providence, rhode island, all the interstates are a major concern. hopefully you have the day off, they are working out trying to get the main streets clear but side streets. the wind gusts 70 miles per hour for nantucket. 66 for orland.

52 over portions of new york. this nor'easter continues to move up the coast. areas like cape cod are seeing the fury of old man winter. massachusetts could see 18 to 24 inches through the weekend. they are under a blizzard warning. the winds are whipping. the winter storm conditions deteriorate with the effects from nantucket. if you're joining us by phone, erica woods, deputy director of barnes county department of health and environment in massachusetts. thank you for being with us. i know it is very busy. how much snow have you seen in the cape cod area and what are you getting for the remainder of the day? >> it has been snowing sideways. it started as heavy wet snow.

started as rain. only a few inches where i am, around four or five inches but the wind is blowing like crazy and lots of power outages, a concern for the remainder of the day as far as that goes. craig: people have power outages i hope their cell phones are charged. what is the best way to report them to you so you can get crews to work on them? >> they want to call eversource. if they have computer access they can go online to report that. we have multi agency coordination center up and running that will prioritize the power outage to get to places like long-term care facilities. we have shelters set up at the

intermediate school in east ham. if anybody needs to get out there, travel is tough. if you could stay where you are, stay there as long as you can because it is tough driving out there. craig: with snow coming down and winds howling. you have plenty of room in the places you mentioned and places with their pet, can they go there as well? >> bring your pets to any of these locations and monitor the need for shelters and other locations we can open up if necessary but we have plenty of room, food, it is warm and places to plug in your phone. craig: food and water are a big resource we need. are you hearing of power outages in the area? >> yes. last i heard there were 10,000 in this town alone and neighboring towns, 9000. of cape cod has issues. i heard from friends of mine

they are on generator power we are on generator power right now. craig: for those who don't know. when they go to generator power, how long can you maintain power? i'm asking different sizes of generators? >> i'm not sure how long this one will last. we have at least 24 hours or longer but they will prioritize us as far as bringing power back up. craig: for those who don't have generators. any advice you would give them? >> again. hopefully they prepared before now. definitely want to hunker down, keep warm if possible, stay off the roads. emergency vehicles, we want to
