about some kind of cease-fire and agreement, vladimir putin has not responded to that request. the russians at the beginning have been lying about their intentions, they've not been trustworthy in terms of cease-fire and continuing to bomb civilian targets, humanitarian outlets set up that they continue to go after despite being told the ukrainians should leave and humanitarian supply chains that up so they can't be trusted at all when it comes to cease-fire so the ukrainians go on as the western alliances try to continue feeding them weapons. kennedy: i don't blame them for being distrustful of the international community. ukraine was told by the united states and russia and broke what the deal if you give up your nukes, you will be safe and we will protect you. why would they trust russia or anyone else right now when that

trust has been grossly violated in the past? >> i think that's right there is lack of trust when it comes to how we get the negotiations done to bring cease-fire and peace and i appreciate your segment previously because to understand what's happening in ukraine, you have to put yourself in the mind of mr. putin here and he somebody who literally set a couple of weeks ago he doesn't believe ukraine is a country which is antithetical because cape was created far before moscow so the ukrainian people and their cultural identity is far before the russians identity is a very interesting -- almost off his rocker. i think he's using this to regain land he believes was his before hand what is military to believe the same thing. what is interesting is to watch how the people of russia are responding, the fact that you seek open protests to him and russia almost every single night

them have family and ukraine and they know when you are a rich person and want more money, you know war is not the answer so when does that make a difference? >> i think we will see it making a difference shortly as protests get stronger in russia and more and more people are arrested and as it continues splendor between people who want the war and people who have relatives in ukraine to people with friends and ukraine and the people were just empathetic to russia bombing and killing innocent civilians and the younger generation sharing videos on social media, i've seen so many on tik tok and twitter, it's amazing to see a war play out in real time on social media. one thing i would do is recommend caution to people because there is so much propaganda videos circulated that are not even from this conflict or this year so it's important to look at sources when you're seen videos especially on tik tok where anything can go viral.

greater russia, a eurasia to build this russian future out there so they will not go against him primarily because they believe in his vision and they are afraid of getting killed as long as putin has security services, you have a long way until somebody takes a risk to go at him. kennedy: go at putin. what you're saying, lindsey graham is telling i think you responsibly within russia to try assassinate a world leader and although i despise him, a poor him, i think it's a bad idea. >> lindsey graham or putin? kennedy: a bad idea for lindsey graham to say those things. >> i do want to but to be honest as a political scientist, there's a history of these things and it's a high probability of how this ends. kennedy: as a political scientist, how does it end? >> in moscow what happens is either the public besides to

>> the sanctions being put in place and have been put in place on russia have nothing to do with iran nuclear deal and prospects of getting back into the agreement. these things are totally different are not in any way together so i think that's irrelevant. kennedy: it's not a relevant, all of this is relevant. the russians are looking for relief. if you can't have it one way and not the other so why are we even negotiating? what are we doing? party panel is back from katie pavlich, olivia rondeau, richard fowler. is this what we need right now? russia thing the intermediary tween iran into west? >> no but the problem is the biden administration, envoy, robert malley had a number of people quit over that their negotiations about this so-called iran nuclear agreement because it's gone so poorly and there's so much appeasement from the united states to iran on this issue, russia being one of

them and you have russians saying they don't want any sanctions that have to do with ukraine to affect the nuclear agreement and based on what the administration has done, it's obvious that is what they are doing and when you look at the details we have of this which are very few, all are negotiated, it's clear this isn't just getting back into horrible iran nuclear deal, it's a new deal that has far more appeasement and implications for the united states, they are going to take sanctions off the mastermind behind the 1980 marine bombing in 1983 or sanctions off the terrace behind the argentina bombing so they are going to allow them to fund terrorism and ultimately iran is going to be able to get nuclear weapon, nothing to stop them from doing so. kennedy: that time has gone by now that we are closer to the

date where iran will be freed from any of the confines of the details and if they resuscitated in 2031 so what do you do here? >> this is a tough situation for the biden administration as well as european partners in the iran deal. the moment usa left the deal whether you like it or not, iran began to redevelop their requests getting a nuclear weapons. it's why the united states came back to the table. katie is right working on new deal and we are trying to figure out ways we use sanctions donald trump put in place to say look, if you want these sanctions under the table, let's have a conversation. the russians, because we talked about last segment run via crazy person and their standing in the way, potentially creating a world in which we might have a nuclear free iran in which they want all around the world.

pacific, america would have allies in military bases and alliances in countries that would provide counterbalance to any chinese aggression, it's interesting to make a statement like that when based on history status quo we have military presence on the pacific. kennedy: we need another treaty organization like that and is nato outdated? should we have learned our lesson or should we gather everyone up have our version of the pacific? >> the concept of nato is not only outdated but very out needed. it's come correct, i don't want to see that with the pacific version, i understand what richard is saying the elements are there, the elements should be kept but not buildup more so i don't want to see an overarching organization similar or same as nato built in the pacific and in addition, i think china, it would be china's best

interest to look at sanctions and u.s. response to russia trying to take over ukraine saying we should maybe backup taiwan of the right, i'm hopeful that will happen, not sure if it will but i believe it would be in their best interest so hopefully we don't need to come to where we have to make another nato structure because of how much of a failure current nato is. kennedy: and also -- >> i don't nato has been a failure so. kennedy: we are about to learn how successful nato is because we are going to get into a full scale war. katie, richard -- >> hopefully not, the whole idea of nato is to make sure we don't have another war. kennedy: i'm with olivia on this one and again, i don't trust anybody and it sucks to be in opposition but also sucks to have tyrants gobbling up parts of the world just to indulge their stupid wins.
