there is nothing else there. just the nuclear plant. so he disconnected it from their -- right now and it is 48 hours until the cooling system will continue working and then it will stop. we all know what happens when the cooling system in chernobyl stops. we've seen this. this is the biggest threat and potential chemical attack and why nato countries say this will not happen. if this happens, radiation doesn't care who has which passport. a member of nato or not are you in the eu or not. this will be a world class tragedy. elizabeth: general, your reaction, general kellogg. >> liz, thanks for having me, i don't think they're bombing the nuclear power plants but they have shut down the power because i think they're hurting deliberately people living in the cities because they can't get power but here is what they are doing.

elizabeth: wait a second. sorry. i know that but national security officials also, this mp is saying yes, they are, they have, she is saying she also told us they bombed chernobyl and bombed another nuclear power plant besides chernobyl, deliberately. >> yeah, liz. there is a fog of war out there. i've always been very cautious. i used to tell everybody i was associated with, even in the white house, the first reports are always wrong. look he has done horrific things. he has done things that are right at the level of war crimes from bombing hospitals, hitting civilians, hitting civilian residential areas but the power plants i think he is deliberately trying to shut down, not necessarily bombing but turning them off to cut down the power, cut out power to inhabitants of major cities. look, here is what he is doing, he is deliberately escalating a pattern of terror, trying to terrorize citizens so they will break. ukrainians are not going to break. that is the huge miscalculation by vladmir putin.

elizabeth: sorry if he is aiming bombs at nuclear power plants, not like he is trying to miss or shut it down. these are nuclear reactor records. in chernobyl, there was a threat, liz peek that would wipe out europe. so this is a serious issue, not one but two nuclear power plants he has gone after. they are saying he may go after more. what do you say, liz peek? >> i think putin is not just trying to threaten the citizens of ukraine, liz, he is holding the entire western world captive. he knows that we are scared, that we're scared he raised nuclear forces level status and we're scared going after the nuclear power plants. i know this sounds bellicose, i don't want to get into a war with russia at some point. nato has to show we're not afraid of putin and stand up to him to push back. right now the biden administration tiptoeing around,

are we giving them fighter jets, aren't we, let's not make putin mad. he already mad and dangerous and a criminal. i think at some point we call the bluff, liz. i don't know how to do it, whether massive cyberattack on their institutions or how we go about it but at some point we cannot let a mike clear armed madman basically dictate the future of western europe and that is what we're doing. elizabeth: americans are scared, liz. stay on this, about the white hot read on inflation, liz. so now it is putin's price hike, what do you think of that, liz? >> that is so unbelievably dishonest. almost all of this came about before the war in ukraine, before oil prices even went up in response to that, liz. if oil prices, if gasoline prices are up $1.75, on biden, by the way this is not all energy as you well know. it's food, it's rent, it's basically a federal reserve that got way behind in terms of

coping with this inflation. i think it has been extremely politicized. i'm very dis.ed, i guess i would say in in jay powell he did not more aggressively move on this. we can talk about labor shortages. the fact that the fed is still behind mortgage-backed securities and driving up home prices and rents? i think they have been really on the wrong foot. we're all going to be paying for it. elizabeth: general, to liz's point, we see the topspin and rebranding coming out of the white house. general, i would like you to listen what happened with the white house press secretary today. watch this. reporter: president's statement blames the putin price hike. are you guys just going to start blaming put tin for everything until the midterms? >> we sieve the price of gas go up 75 cents since president putin lined up troops on the border of ukraine. reporter: and last month the statement didn't mention the putin price hike.

it mentioned inflation because of the pandemic. why is that? >> well, peter, last year, last two years there was a global pandemic. obviously global events impact the economy, the global economy as well as global inflation. and price hikes as a result that have escalated over the course of time of president putin's further invasion invasion of the impact global oil markets are ving an impact. elizabeth: general what is your reaction? >> i guess my first reaction, candidly, liz, you don't have a good answer, a solution, obfuscate or redistrict with something else. she is so wrong. i grew up in the oil business. i was in college i worked for my dad's firm which was an oil drilling firm in california. i was a roughneck a field hand. i saw the oil drilling and oil production business first-hand. everything she has said about it is dead wrong. i'm just stunned that nobody is really called her out on it.

mommy's backs. they were trying to get out for food and water and they are firing at them. they were firing guns at them. for three times. so how could the world think that there is a diplomatic solution to that? who can make him keep his word if right now the world is watching this and saying, well, maybe he will change. no, he will not change. this is a massive threat to the whole world, what he is doing right now to ukraine. this will not change. he only understands one word, the force. this is why we're fighting. we do need help. we do need support because he will not be stopping at ukraine. he was very adamant about that. elizabeth: reports coming in he also has bombed 18 hospitals and medical facilities. so there is that too. when you and your colleagues you saw it happen, what was your initial reaction? >> rage.

♪. elizabeth: joining us now heritage foundation senior fellow. he is dr. peter brookes. good to have you on sir. what was your reaction? the state department and pentagon is rejecting as quote, laughable conspiracy theory, that this is classic russian disinformation that the u.s. has biological weapons labs in ukraine? >> i agree with the administration. my view this is just another in a series of pretexts on the part of the russians to justify their invasion internationally, to justify their invasion at home, to change the channel on their brutality in ukraine and perhaps even use it as a pretext to increase the amount of violence and force that they're using in ukraine. so this is just another one of these you know, pre-texts, justifications on the part of the russians as part of their broader disinformation plan to try to dominate the information space. elizabeth: you know, that the pentagon is saying it has been cleaning up soviet-era labs in

ukraine. russia is not disclosing the document the or proving their allegations. it also didn't detail america's alleged involvement in the matter at all. no information on that. >> no, of course not because they don't have any. this is the problem. you know, we do cooperate with a lot of countries around the world to allow them, do reserve, develop vaccine for infectious diseases. the russians are just playing a game here. we have to be very careful. i'm glad the administration they exposed. it had to be declassified. this is probably not the last time we see something like this. >> white house press secretary jen psaki said it was moscow has long documented track record of using chemical weapons. 300 separate incidents in syria of russia in syria attacking their own, many of the times attacking their own citizens with chemical weapons. >> yeah. well look, you know, of course

they used this nerve agent called novchuk against alexi know volume any, political dissent and they used same nerve agent in the uk on a former intelligence officer. they do this. you did mention they were supporting the regime, the bashar al-assad regime in syria. they also believe they undeclared biological weapons program. that they are in violation of the chemical conventions and biological weapons convention. this is ridiculous. elizabeth: undersecretary of state victoria nuland confirmed the white house is worried that the soviet, that they would seize, russia would seize the soviet-era, you know, kind of biological labs for themselves. we have already talked to the an mp in ukraine, is saying that not one but two nuclear plants

have been purposely, deliberately bombed by putin in order to you know, rattle the world and rattle europe because chernobyl could have wiped out europe. your thoughts on that? >> well, look, i mean the russians have to be careful because chernobyl is close to the border with russia and belarus. if radioactivity escapes it may go into russia as well, depending on the prevailing wind. they have to be super careful about that. liz, what i'm also worried about, i don't know if you get around to this, with a false flag operation where russian forces say ukrainians used biological weapons against ethnic russians in the donbas or against russian forces once again as a pretext to increase the level of force and violence in ukraine. elizabeth: so they're purposely shelling these nuclear plants just to make ukraine back down. that is what the mps in ukraine are saying is happening. that is what russia and putin
