>> it is very challenging it only affects us as a state agency more importantly it affects the border patrol the federal agency as well. that is their primary supporter of the federal government as you can see right there and as you know they're cutting border security funding which is needed right now but right now at this time we have the most unsecure border that we have seen in decades. we are talking about mass migration, the number of illegal immigrants coming across single adults criminals and the drugs the fentanyl is pouring in for the ports of entry. we have seen on the states at over 1200 pounds of fentanyl that's over 280 million leak illegal doses movement is able to take off the streets and save lives. that goes to show the situation the current crisis we are dealing with right now but one thing i want to put in context through for the viewers as well, to know what we're dealing with them what we are going to face, last year for fiscal year 2021 between the months of february through october there were over 397,000 encounters.

now this year alone, and 2022 same timeframe, five months from october through february over 837,000 encounters that goes to show you we thought laster was complete chaos this year's going to be catastrophic these numbers are going to suppress laster's numbers we need to brace ourselves i'll tell you this is a very national security threat not only to the state of texas but the entire country very. >> it is more than doubling practically every year. now we've got the white house pushing to end title 42 that is a pandemic policy. now estimates are 170,000 illegal border crosses are headed this way. that is going to set the stage for possibly worse border crisis, talk with the white house is setting up a war room to handle it. and the governor of texas, greg abbott, does not want to revisit the headlines and the images of the migrant camps under the bridge and rio grande. so what do you estimate coming

sir? border control is more than swamped. >> and they are within a barge assured if he goes to show you this year is going to be catastrophic. it's going to surpass laster's numbers for that goes to show you there's no plan or strategy for the federal government or even intentions to take care of the situation and to protect americans. when they are cutting funding your cutting essential funding for border patrol agents, technology, resources, infrastructure that can be used to combat the border crisis. again the state of texas having to lead the charge in this current crisis that's why governor greg abbott launched these initiatives and lots national guard and deploying national guard at the border. but again there's only so much we can only stateside for the federal government is our responsibility to safeguard the border and to safeguard americans. and that's not being done right now for. >> americans care more about border security and climate change, right? we really appreciate you coming in and talking to us.
