shelling day and night and the people trapped there say worse than health but in the suburbs of kyiv, a different story emerging. ukrainian troops reportedly pushing the russian army out after fierce battle and the victory giving ukrainians hope they could win this thing, if not bring it to an unlikely stalemate. john kirby today said russians were just not ready for this resistance. >> there still having trouble feeding their troops, they either didn't properly plan for logistics or sustainment or properly execute to their plan but they still are having problems, it exacerbated by ukrainian resistance. kennedy: he reiterated his belief they are committing war crimes and experts at vladimir putin's plan is to completely destroy ukraine's rather than accept defeat. national security advisor jake sullivan said putin is paying a steep price for this

from resident zelenskyy and others trapped in country, what did you see when you got there? >> it is worse than i could ever imagine and you don't understand until you look at the refugees and evacuees to see what i've gone through and there's a lot of humanitarian organizations out here that are american blood groups trying to help ukrainian people with special operations experience carrying out specialized missions throughout the country supporting rescue.org right now, donor funded group of special ops medic, intel experts extracting them out. they are the real deal they are stranded personnel americans and nato allies in humanitarian situation from the ground perspective is worsening by the hour, over 10 million people uprooted or displaced from 3 million refugees fled the country and frankly, it's getting tougher and tougher to extract people each day as more and more are stuck behind enemy

lines that russia gives getting more desperate. putin said himself he wants to win the war matter the cost and that's important to remember, what does that mean in terms of weapons used? i don't know but it's going to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and we are seeing him threaten poland as they continue behind the scenes with additional military aid so it's getting worse by the hour. kennedy: no one wants to see that, a full scale nato, that won't be good for any of the parties involved but russia is said to be bombing the evacuation route so walk me through it. if you got someone trapped in mariupol and you get to them, how do you get them out when russia is compromising the escape path? >> that's the problem, putin seems to get more and more desperate by the hour, they are not gaining as much ground as i thought, there's more russian troops die, i saw the numbers

today about 15000 russian troops die and talking about these evacuation humanitarian orders opening up in places like odesa and mariupol but when we look at that, we don't understand what that means because previously struck evacuation route so we don't know if it's safe to go in or not so a lot of guys have to give evacuation routes because putin and russia troops are not good when they are talking about the humanitarian quarter horse and they are lying to the world by letting them know they are going to open up for a few hours and it's not the case. kennedy: obviously it's people above the conscript calling the shots but the 18-year-old forced into this situation, where what is their reaction? >> they don't want to be there, just scroll social media and see the troops captured who were

essentially like to buy their own government working for a madman who couldn't care less about them say they were told they are going to do exercises along the border and the next time they are told to cross into ukraine the next day, they don't want to be part of this or fight ukrainians, that is the truth and i'm sure it will reverberate for them for decades going forward. kennedy: how does someone get in touch with you if there are americans trapped there, how can they find someone who's going to help them? brave people like you putting lives on the line, using your years of experience to bring them to peace and safety? >> people can go to part rescue.org, evacuation requests have been submitted through their and behind the scenes tracking information figuring out what locations we can get into and how we get them out and we are getting as many as we can

claims russian troops will run out of food, fuel and ammunition three days. we talked about this a little bit last night, there are reports of russians being taken out of the fight by an unlikely foe. the ukrainians claim to have killed 15000 russian troops, more than 10% of all russian combat power in that country so did moscow fail to adequately prepare and could that mean the war will be over soon? let's meet tonight's party panel, on the ricochet, served as editor in chief, bearded and humble, jon gabriel is with us along with the host of the richard fowler radio show, fox news contributor, richard fowler and the independent voice, fellow and help contributor, kristin tate is with us, welcome, everyone. good to have you. hey, girl. it's hard to separate propaganda from the truth right now. i would love to believe russia is running out of food and

supplies and poorly equipped and they will crumble in three days. is that truth or falsehood people are clinging to to make them feel better? >> i think we are getting propaganda from both sides and third parties but it's hard to see what's going on. there was briefly uploaded report in a moscow paper saying 9000 plus russian army troops died. if that's true, that is stunning, more than we lost in afghanistan and iraq, more than the soviet in afghanistan when they were there for about a decade so obviously they are under performing. one thing to keep in mind at history as every russian battle starts with numerous defeats, and this body counts and they get there war machine rolling. i really hope this can be over,

not only for the ukrainian people but the 20-year-old conscript who just wants to go back to the pharmacy his girlfriend again. nobody wins the longer this goes on so we can help ukraine is about to push them out but as with most reporting, as soon as it released, i want to give it a couple of days to see how it turns out. kennedy: it's hard to vet the sources and richard, he makes good points, there's propaganda but one thing you can't lie about, the amount of time russia has been there, it was supposed to be a couple of days and now we are going on a month hearing about russian soldiers suffering from frostbite, it makes you wonder about the russian economy is not on par with western europe and the united states and clearly not china so maybe they might have a lot of soldiers they've forced into this servitude but they don't have

the right gear because i don't have money. >> i think that is part of it. the other part is when they went into ukraine, they didn't do a good job from the ground. i do agree from reuters and ap and various sources and independent journalists freelanced on the ground, they didn't do a good job securing their supply line, the key to any good military strategy, i'm not a general but i note that much so they can't get food in and around kyiv or other parts of the country. i do think while we seek troops on the ground, where i am nervous is because russia has missiles and ships and nuclear weapons, all of these other things they can do to cause sheer and utter devastation to the people of ukraine and that's what the world is worried about and what you will see when joe biden goes to brussels tomorrow, more sanctions on russia to

stymie thoracotomy in an attempt to knock them off, knock putin off his game as he continues to wreak havoc from ships launching missiles. kennedy: i think there is a direct correlation between a cratering economy at his desperation and that's what is worried here. >> that's true, one thing i am concerned about is we are seeing a coarsening in the relationship between china and russia and china decides to prop up russia's economy, it could be drawn out for a long time. it's possible we enter stalemate, ukrainians have been surprisingly effective pushing back the russians but putin shows no signs of wanting to back down. what is really sad about this is the suffering likely could have been avoided if western leaders had been in deterrence,

particularly joe biden. russia and all our enemies around the world are watching when we seceded from afghanistan, we are on our way from helping iran getting nuclear arsenal, totally failed deterring putin from invading my sanctions and only gradually putting them in place after russia invaded so this president has been all about impeachment and back could have prompted russia to attack so we need to be strong right now as do other nato nations, support to ukraine and resisting. kennedy: the postmortem on this will be pretty brutal and ukraine, they will have even more to be resentful about when the truth does finally come out, we will see it sometime, hopefully journalists will stay on top of the story long after

finest court watchers the land has ever known. >> thank you. a couple things, i am obsessed with glasses, unprofessional i understand but my good buddy mike lee, i'm putting in a good word, there's no way he would not want to be on kennedy, direct message. kennedy: we high-five him from one of the few freedom fighting liberty lovers left in congress and from the great city of utah, one of my few favorite places to snowboard. so how has judge ketanji brown jackson fared so far? >> i think she's done very well just like everybody expected rather they support her or not voting for her, i know liberty who spent time with the same she's engaging in brilliant, she's going to be somebody who comes across as collegial, open-minded and friendly. during the hearings and i think we've seen even when she's pressed really hard, she's not lost it at all, they are smart and spend weeks doing so-called murder boards where they push and grill them and asked unprintable things and put them in weird situations so they are ready for whatever they get she's very well repaired.

very well first and ready to go. kennedy: what has been her biggest hurdle so far? it seems she's done well but every supreme court nominee has been auditioning for this role for decades. you make a decision probably sometimes even before law school, you've been through so much of that process, very few people get on that track. you have to clerk for the supreme court, you have to have phenomenal grace that get you into the top three law schools in the country and from there on, it's just the process of nailing the landing. >> and being in the right place at the right time and all that has come together from a starley resume, the very justice whose retirement, justice breyer, it couldn't be better story so she's been prepared all along the way mahoney her craft as a

federal judge, the things that are toughest while she's been a federal judge, and sentencing criminals, we've heard this from a number of senators, senator cotten has been going over this with her, senator holly and senator cruz, they looked back to where she had discretion as a judge it in their estimation went soft uncertain criminals. many of these cases, people convicted of possessing child pornography, not the production, there's no difference if you support it, to me your supporting it. there's a different if you're possessing or supporting itself these are people who are busted some with tropes, senator holly has been hard on this, push back but today he went through details of the cases, we are talking about 8-year-old and younger than that, stuff nobody wants to hear about so he wanted to know why she decided in so many cases not to get even the minimum sentence or other prosecutors asked for so that is the toughest issue i think she's having to go back and

forth with. kennedy: what are you hearing do you think she will be confirmed? >> i suspect she's going to get two or three or four republican votes i think she will. kennedy: i don't think there has been enough here even though people might raise objections with her judicial philosophy, there are other aspects like free speech that will force people to take a second look and she is a likable person, incredibly confident and knows the law and her decisions, obviously the process is not done, it's always fascinating, i love your view, thank you. coming up, a new book says rift between president biden and vice president harris. what? is kamala mixing up the president medicines again? plus former president trump, sure enough, rumors of a 2024 run, who is going to run again?
