second. reports coming in. russia is repositioning for attacks on ukraine's eastern donbas region. using cease-fire talks as a smokescreen to continue to assault ukraine. now this the white house plan to release nearly a third of the strategic reserves, the largest ever in the history of the spr. there is no coincidence about the timing here. it's a release over six months. that is just one month right before the midterms. new fox poll says growing number of americans say yeah, rising gas prices is a major problem for our families. edward lawrence, we've got him live at the white house with more. good to see you. reporter: good to see you, edward. largest and longest ever in history release of strategic petroleum reserve. 180 million barrels, one million barrels a day, until the last day basically of september. the president through all of this though still can't say when exactly gas prices will come back down. president biden: there will be a slight delay because if you go

out there and to your gas station and you purchased x-amount of gas at a certain price you're not going to lower the price at the pump until you're able to get back what you invested and i'm talking matter of i think, days and weeks but it is hard to tell. but it will come down and it could come down fairly significantly. reporter: white house economic advisor brian deece says this is meant to bridge the gap when oil companies plan to bring more oil on to the market. the president also says he wants to impose fees on oil companies holding unused leases as a way to get them to start drilling for more oil. >> the way that policy would operate to say going forward in those areas where you are holding leased land but you are not exploring, then you, then you would pay incrementally on that. reporter: so the american petroleum institute says that 9,000 leases the president is talking about, half of those are waiting on the department of interior permit to approve the

actual drilling. another couple thousand of those are tied up in lawsuits by environmentalists. elizabeth: edward lawrence thank you for your reporting there. joining us congressman kat cammack from house homeland security and chief public policy economist of the texas policy foundation, vans ginn congressman, first to you. taxpayers own the spr, taxpayers paid for. it is not biden's slush fund to win back re-election. is this threatening u.s. security? is this about winning votes in september? >> hi, liz, yes, they are concerned about biden's sinking poll numbers they are desperate for anything. the last time pelosi or biden filled up a gas tank was the year i was born which was 1988. let's be honest, they know nothing what it is like for an average american today trying to fill up your gas tank for your family. it is ridiculous.

we need to stop telling our adversaries exactly what we're going to do and what we're not going to do. this move basically to drain a third of our strategic oil reserve this is ludicrous. this is putting our national security at risk. elizabeth: about potential future shocks, right? vince, the spr was established, you've been talking about this too, after nixon to reduce the impact of supply shocks after the arab oil embargo. we don't have a supply issue now. it's a production issue because the biden administration is sitting on the heads ever the oil companies. it is not meant for the democrats shock of losing their seats in elections. we've never seen something like this before. >> well, thank you, liz. i mean you're exactly ride. the problem here we have not a national emergency but a crisis that is self-imposed by the biden administration. they have taken one chance after another to reduce the production of reliable energy that comes from oil and gas. when you think about the keystone xl pipeline, the other regulations that have been imposed one time after another.

they have reduced the amount of production and led us into the situation we're at today. oil prices were up 75% before russia invaded ukraine. now it is up 9% since then. this was a problem well before that situation even happened even though the biden administration likes to point the blame at everyone else. really it is at the front door of the white house. elizabeth: to vince's point, congresswoman, this only has a independent ared effect on gas prices because of how much oil can be released at a time. it's a political play to make it seem biden is doing something about the problem. it is only equivalent about two days of global demand. can they really market time this, sell it now, buy it back at lower price? trump wanted to do that when oil was 24. what will it do to make prices go down? will he ramp up u.s. energy and u.s. manufacturing of that energy to make the prices go down and buy it back? >> you know this is what is crazy. the white house sent out a four-page long email today to

congressional staff this was putin's price hike on fuel. what they're doing with the strategic oil reserve it is not going to lower prices. it is not meeting demand. it is putting us at risk. the thing we need to do is get domestic production back up. they need to release all the red tape they tied producers up with. that is what will get us going on. we're sitting on it. standing on it. they have redistricted and misdirected people. people are registering republican voters at the gas pump. elizabeth: now they're saying use it or lose it on the oil leases for the oil companies, vince, but the thing is, they're talking about 9,000 leases. the oil companies are pumping flat-out on, that is only about a think a quarter of the leases, maybe 20% of the leases outstanding. oil companies are pumping flat-out. the reason why they can't pump immediately because they're worried about what the white house will do shutting down u.s. energy. >> exactly this is not something you turn on with a light switch.

this is something that takes time to ramp up. not to mention that we have labor crises and trucking crises happening right now within our country. it's a nightmare. elizabeth: yes. >> we need to actually let the american public and the market work as it was intended, get government out of the way. elizabeth: vince, take a listen to nancy pelosi being blase about inflation. $5200 a year more in inflation costs. the white house is normalizing, democrats are normalizing massive inflation spending. they're pounding a lot of money into the system. you need producers, jobs, consumers, production, manufacturing to mop up the excess inflation and money printing and government deficit spending. watch nancy pelosi here. watch. >> we cannot allow the fossil fuel industry to use this as an excuse to reverse everything we're doing to save the planet. one of the things i think that the president may say, i don't have this as a fact, is that we will use the defense production

act to speed up diversification so that we're not so dependent on oil. unemployment went down practically, cut in half. when that happens inflation increases. it is the way it is. elizabeth: so it is just the way it is. what do you think? >> well the again, they're trying to point to the blame game on everyone else except for where the problem really starts and it starts from overspending by congress, by the biden administration, over regulating. when ever you get debt and deficits increasing what you have the federal reserve will come in and starting to print more money. we had overspending, over printing of money. that is recipe for more inflation we'll continue to see. they will blame it on gas and putin's price hike. this is on the democrats in congress and biden administration on bad policies time and again.

money coming from the ukrainian energy company. what "the washington post" is talking about, $4.8 million to hunter biden and james biden for who knows what, and the why questions become amazing. why did they pay chinese communist pay that to hunter biden? why did media and the big tech companies act in parallel to spike that story last year, or before the election? and why are they writing about it now? elizabeth: you know, hunter wasn't mentioned in the panama papers or pan dura papers. by the way they're from delaware that is the land of llcs. they basically, set up these shell companies. by the way senators chuck grassley and ron johnson had this in their senate report that came out in 2020. we've known about this, been reporting on it for some time chinese communist cefc, big player in the belt and road push for china, basically was doing

business with hunter biden, sending him 4.8 million to the shell companies, a million dollars also to represent patrick ho who has been convicted and until jail for bribery, trying to bribe african leaders for oil permits. basically he was selling a way to evade sanctions on iran oil this is big, major geopolitical stuff, sir. >> it is, liz and none of the money is explained with the exception of one million dollars allegedly associated with a retainer agreement. hunter biden had a law degree but he din represent people as a lawyer. so even that isn't made, doesn't make sense. james biden got some of that money. he is a non-lawyer. this is, the amazing thing though, liz, this was all out as of october 2020 when the laptop came to light, to the post, "new york post." but the major media ignored it. the big tech companies, facebook

breaking news coming in. let's bring into the show gop strategist ford o'connell. it is good to have you back on. governor desantis, he is now talking about repealing special treatment disney gets in florida, in the counties there. they basically under a 1967 or so law, ford, get to self-govern themselves. they have a lot of exemptions under what the state or the counties can do to regulate disney. now governor desantis is saying if you will exert your power, disney we've given you and special status to basically impose yourself on what we're doing at the state level, then you should be accountable. so what do you think of this move by desantis? >> i think the governor desantis is absolutely right. you have to draw a line in the sand when it comes to woke corporatism and understand here in florida, florida has bent over backwards for the disney corporation for decades now. we give them special treatment. we give them special breaks. even during covid, we bent over backwards for their employees

don't agree with their stance, the majority of their employees don't agree with their stance? you have to wonder what disney is thinking here. frankly, they, walt disney should be rolling over in his grave because they're trying to light the reputational brand of disney on fire of the company at this moment. elizabeth: disney former ceo bob iger, says he doesn't like the florida law. it is potentially harmful to students. he thinks day kids will be targeted. what do you think about this position? >> what i think about that position, that is someone who hasn't read this bill. it bans classroom instruction of pre-kindergarten and third grade when it comes to the sexual orientation and gender identity. it does not do any of the things critics of the bill said. it doesn't ban gay or discussions of sexual gender and identification. this is about parental rights

and education. if you don't stand up for the parents rights you will have a lot of problems. elizabeth: the point in florida, a lot of these schools they have sex education in the six to seven to 8th grade, why do they have to bring up sexual topics for kind kinders, -- kindergarteners are saying. a lot of workers inside of disney, they sent a memo, stood up, don't be political, disney. don't be political. don't be ideological. we're seeing polls showing democrats in florida saying disney is not going the right way here. we understand we want to protect gay students but there is another angle to it. go ahead, ford. >> that is exactly right. it is being age appropriate. when we're talking about kids between five and 8th grade, should learn about abcs, 123s, not the birds an bees. to your point we're discussing that in florida classrooms in older age, public health.

they love him. what is your reaction, larry, to the story? >> well, i mean i think we really found out who chris rock is and who will smith is. i think for so long will smith had this very wholesome image. we thought of him as good guy, played that role in so many movies. he looks like anything but that in this situation. you heard chris rock, from the lady what a class act. some people don't know what to make make of any of this, liz. there are a lot of conspiracy theories, that it was planned. at this point i think we would have heard if that was the case this entire thing, certainly helped out chris rock. certainly has drummed up more interest for award shows, man do they need it, man they needed it because they were on a downward spiral but it was interesting to watch it all play out for real time, to see will smith get up,

if any average person did that they would be in jail. they would be locked up. they would have been arrested or questioned by the police at this point. but it shows you the double standard that exists, that shows you that when you're a hollywood celebrity, this is basically what people took from this, you can get away with anything. how often throughout the covid pandemic did we see that the rules that applied to all of us didn't apply to the elites, whether the political elites, hollywood elites. no difference here. i think it is really frustrating for people. elizabeth: the other thing too, let's move on to this story quickly. we've got the vice president, right. reports she is upset with her portfolio and assignments. she is former attorney general of california. why isn't she the crime czar? she doesn't want to be border czar. she worked on cases. why doesn't she work as being the crime czar. the vice president working with jamaican leader, yet another word salad from the
