8.6%. gas prices still at a record high today, 5.001 a gallon, up nearly 40 cents in just the last few weeks. summer drive plan, food prices? forget about it. on top of that, property values, they are plunging. so are savings ratings and primary voters in nevada today saying this is the number one issue. watch. >> inflation. gas prices. i mean, prices of groceries are ridiculous. there's no need for this. >> the economy. enter fuel. the economy. kennedy: yeah. so how is the president responding? well, today he released a comprehensive plan to fix everything. [laughter] jk, he didn't. he literally thinks everything is great, because he's insane. watch. >> under my plan for the economy, we've made extraordinary progress. we put america in a position to tackle a worldwide problem that's worse everywhere but here, inflation. it's sapping the strength of a

[laughter] let's do this, panel. i will start with you, alexandra. extraordinary progress is such a hurtful phrase when people cannot afford basic things. what are they doing here? i don't understand. please help me through this. you are a political mastermind. certainly, you've got to see the strategy. >> you know, i don't think that i can, kennedy, because he's sapping my energy -- [laughter] with this talk. i mean, starting with janet yellen back in 2021 saying that all of these massive government checks that they were handing out, it was just inflation that was transitory. now here we are with the highest inflation in decades. the average american family is incurring hundreds of dollars in extra costs a month just to coop

up. it's just so absurd. and i think where joe biden -- [no audio] kennedy: oh, the moment to seize the big middle. she's talking again. okay. >> -- trying obeysically put him out to pasture. so at this point this is really becoming about his legacy. not just as a president, but a human being. do you want to be the guy who was in charge when infants were starving because there was no formula or because they couldn't fill up their gas tanks? like, what is he trying to do here? he needs to immediately adopt some of the things that the far left has prevented him from doing like ramping up domestic oil production and saying it's common sense. and you know what? for a short-term benefit here for the american people, i'm going to go ahead and do this. but i don't, i don't know that he has the wherewithal to do it. kennedy: i don't know either, and i would love to hear common sense right now, leslie, i really would. i would embrace it if there were a glimmer of some sort of

cohesive or rational plan here. and i just don't see it. and, you know, blaming the global economy, blaming republicans, blaming vladimir putin -- all convenient things to skirt out of accountability and respondent that this administration -- responsibility that this administration should be taking every single day. >> well, it's interesting because one of our coworkers, titus, actually tweeted something and i don't always agree with him the other day, and it was a graph that showed how much domestic drilling there was, and there's actually been more in the biden administration than there was in the trump administration or any if president, democrat or republican in the past. here's the problem with all of this, and it's whether -- and, of course, the party in power is going to be blamed. but the bottom line is there is no one thing. for example, we just heard from alexandra apologies and legislation, that costs money. but economists say that accounts for 2 or less percent inflation.

we're talking 98% or more of inflationary rising is not due to policies of this president or the democrats. what does that translate to now? if it translates into something people don't want to hear which is what this white house, that any politician or any president can't just fix inflation. it's a global problem. we know that the feds have a problem. if they're -- kennedy: yeah, i know the whole problem -- global problem -- >> and if they're not aggressive enough -- kennedy: yes, yes, yes, yes, ye- >> -- the covid pandemic -- kennedy: yeah, i want to bring shane in. stop talking. okay. the global economy excuse is a very common democrat talking point right now. and, again, it goes to my initial point which is -- >> it's not -- kennedy: if you blame the global economy, republicans, putin, you don't have to create new policies that would help people in the short term and the long term. but they can really, really screw this up further, shane, because they're talking about

more spending. what would that do to a very fragile, cratering economy? [laughter] >> the economy's not going to get better. and the thing is if they had any economic sense whatsoever, they'd go back to 1913 and start talking about the fed, then they'd talk about fdr, and then they would talk about nixon getting off the gold standard is. when your economy is absolutely trashed way ours is and you add 6 trillion under biden, and i think it was, what, 2-3 trillion under trump, this is the democrats and the republicans' fault. this is why you don't vote for these people, that's why you don't support these people. they are war warmongers, they are part of the banking ca cabal, the zombie corporations that have been destroying the country and destroying your dollars, killing four people in the middle class in america. probably somewhere around 30% in terms of inflation rate if it were actually adjusted for 1980

cpi. in a keynesian economy when you hike interest rates, you slow spending. and when you slow spending in a keynesian economy, you get recessions and crashes and black fridays -- kennedy: so fast. >> i hate to be that person. but it's going to be a, it's bedlam. like, you cannot fix this going forward with d.c. you probably have a decentralization effect where the states or regions kind of go their way, but they're going to have to start looking at a more secure type of medium of exchange in terms of money, and that would be bitcoin. and i know it's all down -- kennedy: yes, it's doing great right now. you know i love you, shane, but that one -- i may agree with you that i love buy the dip, tough sell this week. >> no, no, this is the time to buy! kennedy: at some point, sure. but -- >> it's on sale, get in. kennedy: it sure is. it's worthless. let's go to another issue. "the new york times" claiming democrats quietly questioning the president's mental capacity for a potential run for re-election in 2024. wow. last night on cnn his press secretary once again proving she has no idea what she's talking about. karine jean-pierre claiming with a straight face she can't even keep up with the president, he's like the enier eyeser bunny, you guys. [laughter] watch. >> does the president have the stamina if billioningly and mentally, do you think, to continue on even after 2024? >> god -- don, you're asking me this question. oh, my god. he's the president of the united states, you know? i can't even keep up with him. we just got back from new mexico, we just got back from california. that is not a question that we should be even asking. just look at the work that he does. kennedy: what work? if that is a question we should be asking every single day as every commander in chief, are they fit to lead?

will brand pa be able to run -- grandpa joe be able to run again, and should we get some medical records to prove he is mentally and physically fit? because i don't think legs. alexandra, i'm old enough to remember when then-president trump's personal physician was attacked by the press in a protracted press conference about the former president's health. and they were just railing into him. they wanted proof that he was sick rain wrong in the head. why aren't we seeing the same thing with joe biden? because, frankly, i think we should. >> yeah, look, i think it goes to show the double standards that have long existed in the media for republican candidates versus democratic candidates. and in joe biden's case, i think for the media in particular, they understand what the problem here is for democrats. because the democrats, by the way, "the new york times" were questioning, they're not really

doing so out of concern, they're doing so off the their own self-interest. -- like to be part of a winning team or the candidates themselves in 2024 to take over for joe biden who i think any reasonable american could say -- kennedy: yeah. >> -- grate any is not -- gracefully is not doing so well. kennedy: a quinnipiac poll had him at 23%. the average is 38%, leslie. i mean, those -- it's not like trump numbers because trump always had garbage numbers because half the country absolutely hated him with a blinding passion. his numbers really didn't go anywhere. joe biden was sitting at 60% a year and a half ago, and now he is so deep in the toilet, you're going to have to call a plumber, not a new chief of staff. and i worry for the country with your shallow bench. administration must be seeing some horrendous internal polling and trying to do damage control. and, look, the reality is parents aren't going to fall for this crap. it's just a pure sense of gaslighting after the past two years you had the white house considering the teachers unions labor disputes when crafting the cdc guidance on reopening schools. you had the biden administration colluding with the national school boards association in crafting that letter to send to the department of justice to investigate parents as domestic terrorists. these parents probably don't want to work with them, they're not going to believe that this is in good faith, and parents aren't going to listen. they're not going to fall for it. look, this has imploded -- the national school board association has just fallen apart as a result of this. as of just the other day, 25 states now have decided to pull their membership or participation from the nsba. we might as well rename the

that were clearly compromised by all these policies, and kids are getting viruses that, first of all, are rarely seen, almost never seen in summer, and it's putting them in the hospital. >> yeah, you're right, absolutely. what i'm seeing in all age groups, infants, children and adults, are things i usually see in the winter, in the fall. influenza, rsv, these are things you see when it's freezing cold outside. now because we've been locked down, because of the masks, because of kids being at home especially new born babies, they weren't able to be exposed to the germs, to viruses, to bacteria, to fungus, so they didn't have the opportunity to develop a defense immune system to fight the infection in the future. that's why we're seeing now these viruses anytime of the year. and especially when it comes to rsv, it's hospitalizing some children who are at higher risk who, for example, were born prematurely or have an autoimmune discored.. -- discan

[laughter] if we're seeing influenza in the summer, does that mean it's going to be bad in the fall and winter? >> that's a good question. it's hard to predict. i'm only seeing a few cases, it's not like an explosion, nothing like a few years ago when we had 80,000 deaths in one year from influenza, but it's surprising just to see it in the first place in the summer. rsv, that's the virus that infects little infants, little kids, seeing that in the summer when it's 90 degrees outside? it's just so unusual. but not necessarily, this doesn't mean we're going to have a massive spike in the fall or the winter, but the good news is when it comes to flu, we have a vaccine, we have antivirals, medicines for flu and new medicines on the horizon for, potentially for rsv like monoclonal antibodies and that sort of thing that could helpfully fight these viruses -- kennedy: i mean, that's interesting. some of the medical technology that was developed under operation warp speed, will that help viruses other than covid? >> well, that's a great

illustrated" really delves into his background which i think is a little bit beside the point, but it was interesting. the thing about it is they're finding this line, is he coercing kids as a public schoolteacher, is he coercing kids into doing the same, into praying? according to him, he's had a couple parents and even a student come up to him and said, i'm not comfortable with this in this. he said, fine, don't do it. kennedy: yeah. >> i don't think this is coercive. i don't think this coach can tell a kid, you know what? the best quarterback, but dammit, you didn't pray with me -- kennedy: you're second string now, son. >> i don't see that happening. listen, i really read with an open mind, and i understand that viewpoint. but again, you can't coerce people by kneeling on a field after a game. i don't know how you can possibly say that that is to coercive behavior. i don't see it. kennedy: and the question is, when is he a private citizen an. kennedy: -- he a publicly-paid

government employee when he's a coach. so if the game is over, doesn't he revert to being a private citizen? that was one of the questions that the justices had, and they also wanted proof of that coercion happened because, you know, coercion may be happening. that's not a threshold that exists here. >> right. it has to be is it happening, not is there potential for it or can it, could it -- kennedy: yeah. so a lot of things could happen. he could punch someone in the face, that didn't happen, so we shouldn't act as though it has. >> i think people are afraid in this will set precedent that everyone can pray at any if time. everyone's always a afraid of that floodgate being opened, and i see this as such a tiny, little sliver of somebody's freedom to express themselves in a way that i don't see who it's harming either. we talk about does anyone get harmed. and when a student, obviously, or a parent is able to approach a coach and say, you know what?

i hope this isn't going affect my son's playing time because i don't want him to do it and he says that's okay and it doesn't impact his playing time, then i don't see how anyone gets hurt. kennedy: yeah. do you think he's going to go back to coaching? do you think the supreme court's going to rule in his favor just based on the argument and what we've heard? >> yeah, i think he does win. whether or not he goes back to coaching, will he be welcome in that community? i'm not sure. i would like to think that he is. he seems to have a lot of support -- kennedy: good catholic school. a guy like that. >> that's the other thing about it -- anyway, i think he does win this case. i don't see how you can say that this man is, that this is about church and state. it doesn't seem to me, he's not forcing it on anyone. school is not forcing it on anyone. kennedy: yeah. >> he's just representing himself in that moment. kennedy: well, look at the league demonized tim tebow and lionized kaepernick -- [laughter] they do not have their priorities in order.
