point, francis, main street, wall street, they're asking how high will inflation go? we know the government did an open fire hydrant of pandemic spending equal to a fifth of the economy. ben bernanke former fed chair, talking about the average cpi inflation rate rose more than 7% a year from the late '60s to 81. then it hit 13%. where is it headed? >> well, that remains to be seen. depends on oil prices and it depends on food prices. that is what is keeping it elevated but so many other things in the background are softening own inflation but it is how it is weighted. for oil to contribute to cpi at the weight contributing has to go to 140 a barrel, we don't see that happening. we think inflation will pause or back off a little bit but will remain above 7% likely the end of the year. that will not make that big of a difference for americans even if it slow as little. elizabeth: to what francis is

saying congressman, "the washington post" is saying president is hauling into the oval office his staffers. he upset they're doing political gimmicks he privately says won't work to stop inflation. trip to the iowa biofuels factory in april. he is also putting even more rules and regulations on shipping. he wants a surtax on excess profits, oil companies. who gets to define what are excess profits? what do you make of the mayhem in the white house? >> first of all this president is not connected with the american people. he is out of touch. his policies reflect that. one thing joe biden can do, what all politicians who have been in office for 30 years they can read a poll. he is seeing disaster looming. he is blaming someone, staffers not keeping him abreast what is going on especially things like baby formula crisis and how bad american workers are suffering because of inflation. they don't have a plan but the basic democrat ideology is, in a time of crisis let's have more government.

when republicans know the plan is to get the government out of the way because the government is the problem and the problem with high oil prices is because biden's energy policies have created a crisis. they have limited production, they have banned drilling, they canceled the keystone pipeline. these are all things that need to be reversed. so biden's big government agenda, his green new deal agenda has backfired on him. like i said, earlier the democrats in congress had whiplash, they don't know which direction to go now. elizabeth: francis to what the congressman is saying, you know, you will see the next sound bite. the white house is maligning oil and gas. oil and gas employs millions of workers, basically calling them warmongering profiteers. the white house reiterate what the president campaigned on yeah, biden wants to shut down u.s. oil and gas. watch this. >> so we know where to put the blame on the war but oil companies, they have oil refineries, they have responsibility too. what they have been doing is

taking advantage of the war. president biden: no more subsidy for fossil fuel industry, no more drilling on fed ran lands, no drilling including offshore. no ability for the oil industry to drill period, end. reporter: president said he would end fossil fuel. is that now off the table? >> we'll continue to move forward with our clean energy proposal, climate change. elizabeth: we'll end fossil fuels, francis, what do you think? >> no. i think that is absolutely ridiculous. we'll have oil for another 10 years even with all the best efforts to go greener. not that going greener is a bad thing. we don't have charging stations ubiquitously placed around the country. many people have saving. they have lost a lot of money. suffering from inflation. they are putting things on credit cards. they can't go out to buy an electric vehicle that is brand new this is completely unrealistic. this is a sad day in american politics when you have an

administration attacking any industry that represents a huge portion of americans. i think this is going to show up in the midterms. i think it will be regrettable. i think this will be one of the biggest failures in american history how joe biden managed the oil and gas industry. elizabeth: what francis is saying, the white house attacking an industry. the biden white house asked a louisiana federal judge, congressman to uphold the president's ban on new oil federal and gas leasing and limit u.s. exports. we've never seen a government attacking a u.s. industry like this. >> democrats in congress are joining joe biden. they want to attack every big profitable company in america. what they don't realize in addition how badly we need cheap oil in america the energy industry provides good paying jobs, many union jobs. they're attacking their own people they claim they represent in working class america. it makes no sense. it's bad policy they're punishing working americans by forcing them to pay more at the

assemble. there is a special law when it comes to justices, justices in the deliberations process. that is why i wrote a letter with many of my colleagues over a month ago looking to the threats we're seeing not just to justices but also in the midst of this, we found out, was discovered that justice kavanaugh had a death threat against him and an attempted assassination. it was not aired on any other news station other than fox channel. why isn't this top line news for the country when we see a supreme court justice being threatened with their life with an impending decision? everyone has the right to peaceably assemble. we just asked that the law be enforced. that is 18 usc 1507, which allows protests not at the homes of justices. not with beating drums, not with death threats, especially in light of justice kavanaugh. elizabeth: critics feel like they're playing with forward.

in appropriate way but in front of justices offices -- judges are note legislators. they're supposed to be independently interpreting the constitution. they're not in a legislative position like we are in congress. that is why this is vitally important that we preserve their independence, make sure they have the protections. it is just inappropriate obnoxious to be in front of justices homes where they have young children. where it is intimidating, disrupting their lives, especially someone like justice amy coney barrett who has seven children. elizabeth: attorney general garland said he would investigate actions against pregnancy centers. >> are you open prosecuting some of the protesters at the homes of the justices? >> [inaudible] elizabeth: so, where is ag garland on this? >> he is so politically just disasterous as attorney general. he refuses to do this because he doesn't agree with the position

politically and he is intimidated by the left-wing mob that is out there trying to force this decision. by the way, i come from new york state. in the event that the leaked alito decision comes out from the supreme court and looks anything like it does which would strike down roe v. wade that means late tomorrow term abortion up to the moment of birth is legal in the state of new york. it will be up to the states and legislatures to come up with moral analysis what we're doing here. when the democrats say stuff we'll codify roe v. wade, roe v. wade was based on a private standard in the first trimesster. new york's law goes all the way to the moment of birth. it is an extreme position. i hope the rest of the american people will see how extreme the democrats position is, how merrick garland is protecting an extreme position and also protecting people who are basically domestic terrorists in what they have been doing, what they have been threatening.

elizabeth: back with us "the federalist" senior legal correspondent. she is a great writer, margot cleveland. we love your stuff, you dig into the documents, you dig in hard. what do you make of this latest report? kathleen buhl, hunter biden's ex-wife wrote a memoir. she said hunter biden's long time business partner eric schwerin handled almost every aspect of the biden family financial affairs including joe biden but the president keeps strenuously saying he knows nothing about hunter's business dealings. what do you think of this. >> he might not know about them now but he did at one point. i think eric is a key witness in this case. the case i'm talking about the grand jury that is reportedly investigating hunter biden in delaware and we're talking about not just hunter biden though.

it looks at not just his checks issues but also what he was doing in all of these different countries with all of these different investors and this is tying us right back to president biden. we now know that we have someone who can figure out where all the money was coming, where it was going. you have to connect this also to the prior evidence that we've seen from the hunter biden laptop. we had evidence that eric was pushing money from the, paying taxes, getting tax returns, was paying for repairs on houses. so i sure hope that he has been called before the grand jury and that they're really digging into where the money was coming from and looking at this 10% that was supposedly going to the big guy. elizabeth: that is tax evasion, money laundering and foreign lobbying potential violations, those are all the allegations in that doj delaware probe.

so, you also have this, margo, like your reaction to this, hunter biden is claiming he is so powerful his father takes his advice no matter what, even if it hurts the president politically. watch this. >> he will talk about anything that i want him to that he believes in. if i say it is important to me, then he will work a way to make it a part of his platform. my dad respects me more than anyone else in the world. i know that to be certain. it will not be about whether or not my dad thinks it will affect his politics. elizabeth: even if it doesn't affect his politics, really? >> absolutely this is so problematic, not just the perspective of the biden family, pay-for-play we already have evidence on a. it makes you wonder about who is pulling the strings for president biden in the white house now. he might not listen to hunter anymore but if his son had that influence on him who else might?

going back to the hunter biden and influence he is claiming he had on his father, we look at where president biden bragged about at the time when he was vice president saying basically, fire this prosecutor if you want our money. he, president biden, now, said that when he was back at vice president about what he did. that is a huge scandal but again the elite media is still awol on this. elizabeth: you know the issue is too is that the president has said, i was the poorest man in congress, right? he had a really low net worth compared to other congressman and he was heavily in debt and that is when it started to swing around and huntser and uncle james biden did all the deal-making according to the documents we looked at. now this, "washington examiner" is recovering texts from hunter biden's laptop, that hunter slammed his sister-in-law, halle biden, throwing out in the trash, a
