gallon and he pressured oil companies to increase production employed gas station owners to lower prices. watch. >> to the companies running gas stations and setting the prices at the pump, this is a time of war, global payroll, ukraine, these are not normal times. bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you are paying for the product. do it now, do it today. kennedy: do it today, do it today. don't you realize it the gas station was like maybe if i just lower gas, i'll sell more than the other guys? they would all do it in the prices would come down but that's not how it works but is totally got to be mom and pop shops. regardless of what republicans say, gas tax holiday is a nonstarter. >> what the administration is coming up with is out of the gimmicks, another band-aid and something they know is dead on

with more, 18 cents a gallon off, they are going to make a run on it which is how we got into this problem in the first place. >> i am shocked the democrats were the white house would offer a tax cut at all so i guess that's some kind of progress on that and but democrats on capitol hill, nancy pelosi, chuck schumer, the ones who have to vote on repealing this tax are getting cold feet, not even responding to it or considering it is a serious proposal and the problem for the white house is 90% of the country, you can't just rely on politics of your side and make a couple of statements about the issue, 90% of the country is paying attention to this issue and if you look at down the road which this administration fails to do when it comes to maybe managing a coming crisis and an offense of way rather than just being on defense, there's a compounding

crisis with gas prices because of diesel fuel so expensive, you could turn into a food crisis and food price crisis so that's coming down the road and going like a freight train freight trains can't stop until they crash. kennedy: and diesel is what fuels all the trucks that get things from a to b. the tractors who need to till the soil and harvest crops that feed us from america's breadbasket to the rest of the world. richard, the president said something interesting, he was like, refined more gas. to the gas companies which is a great idea and he's right about something in that the united states has an incredible abundance of resources when it comes to energy. the things that come out of the ground here in the u.s., they do have to be refined. he is right about that, the problem is the federal government won't get out of the way so energy companies can

build more refineries and you know what oil is, saint markina, asked aoc. >> thanks for having me. a couple things, i do agree i think to get repealing the gas tax is a gimmick and won't solve a long-term problem. we do have a problem around refineries, is not necessarily democrat or republican problem, a lot of oil companies do not want to refine fuel here in the united states because it's more expensive for labor costs so they would rather refine fuel in asia and africa and try to build it there and take those and that's something we should have in this country because gas prices are high in the united states but higher in canada and europe. we are facing a fuel shortage all over the world and that's the competition we should be having a set of running a gimmick. the president should have an honest decision with the

american people about why we have this high fuel cost and it's a global problem because whether or not we drill in every oil well in the u.s., we would still be facing this because oil and fuel is a globally traded commodity. kennedy: but if we produce more than we refined more -- >> we still have a problem with the refinery. kennedy: because the federal government won't get out of the way. brad -- >> the reason is because the biden administration from day one declared a halt on leases and permits for drilling. >> that's actually not true. >> future regulations onto this industry, of course that will lead to higher prices. they made -- epa is giving out permits extremely slow and cumbersome rates, it's very difficult, it's not all president biden's fault. therefore in ukraine, sure but he's made it harder and now he's

resorting to gimmicks. i love the tax cut but this will unfortunately just make demand higher while the supply is constrained but it would give us higher prices. kennedy: but that will bite us in the keister and it's only appropriate when you get someone consent to do that. the panel was to ground much more with them, a lot to discuss in the biden administration still trying to pretend we aren't on the cusp of a potentially devastating recession. karen john pierre framing it as a transition. the president said recession is not inevitable. i don't think that word means what you think it does. today jerome powell admitted a recession is possible but still claims the economy -- >> do you agree with the perspective that if interest rates go too hi, too fast that it could drive us into a recession? >> certainly a possibility, not

transition is from the same root as transitory. we've been hearing this word for the better part of the year end it's wrong, wrong. the fact that the white house is still trotting out that language just tells me they actually don't even care to understand was going on in the economy right now. we are going to shrink in the first quarter of this year, we are 1 foot in the whole of recession and the projections are for us to grow at 0% this quarter which means any little thing goes wrong, we are in recession. this administration would be better to simply admit that where we are, change some of the people on their team, they should fire janet yellen and get somebody in that role who can cast some kind of vision for how we can lunch with going to

[laughter] >> i agree with william buckley, pick like ten people out of the phone book in massachusetts and put them in charge of the economy. you probably would get a better response because you get the people who drive cars and trucks and put gas into the things they use, common sense. kennedy: absolutely. it's like when they lead kindergartners to the stocks, they do better than the experts but people can't afford food or by gas, their personal economy is shaky and quite an insult for a bunch of people who live comfortably after government

biggest issues and they are saying, republicans in the senate including your commonwealth congressional compatriot mitch mcconnell who joined democrats on this thing more is needed in terms of education spending on safety and mental health but my problem with that is, that's one of the things if i were a congressperson which hopefully i never will be, no offense, i would not vote for it. >> love to have you. kennedy: for got 200 billion from the federal government, 200 billion, 5% of which has been spent over the last two years so why not take 95% of the money and access more mental health resources for troubled kids? access better safety solutions instead of proposing new legislation that really has not been properly thought out? >> that's a great idea, use the money already out there instead of stigmatizing and branding the people who seek health treatment

the crazy conspiracy theorists were right once again according to vice.com, chinese government now appears to use its digital covid passports to shut down political protests. after a major bank in china suddenly froze hundreds of accounts and a group of customers began organizing protests online demanding their money. as the protest approach, organizers say the got mysterious notifications on their covid passports cap claiming they were positive and needed to quarantine immediately. they got the big red sign and couldn't go anywhere. some reportedly were detained and blocked in hotels and others forced to stay home thanks to the medical security state, protests were canceled. what's to keep this from coming
