signatures, nearly 200,000 more than they needed. gascon like alvin bragg in manhattan in recent recall in san francisco, former d.a. and chesa boudin, they come under fire for their soft on crime policies. facts don't lie. gascon took office, shootings are up almost 55% leading to increase in homicide, 29% in robbery. only up 17%, la's deputy d.a. said recall effort has something to do with politics and only public safety. >> i'm a democrat and many individuals who support the recall are democrats. the crime rate is skyrocketing under george gascon. innocent individuals are being killed. many of the individuals are people of color. children are being hurt, a large amount of cash and grab burglaries, a large amount of

robberies. people are scared, concerned for their safety. kennedy: are some of these cities waking up to their own failures? one of the things i love about california is the recall mechanism and george gascon is like this is putting a thumb in the eye of the democratic process, really politics. is it just politics? >> no and one of the other things gascon pointed out in his line, is a republican driven recall campaign. john mckinney, michelle hannity, all of these deputy d.a.'s who work for this guy will tell you this is not a political thing, not driven by republicans, it cuts across all political divisions and all neighborhoods in l.a. county. half of the city's have voted no confidence in the district attorney to do his job. half of the city. l.a. is a pretty liberal area and the suggestion that maybe half of the city's are republican driven city councils that would vote like this is in

ten. everyone of them he talks about in terms of the people he prosecutes and the families of the victims he sticks up for, they are the ones driving this recall campaign. people out there have lost their loved ones to people let out of prison because of george gascon's policies. he mentioned the 200,000 more than necessary in terms of the number of signatures they've turned in, almost all of those extra signatures came in after two almonte police officers lost their lives to a guy on parole who should not have been, should have been in jail for a very long time but because of the policies george gascon -- he even had the audacity to say, a convicted felon already, when he was caught with a gun, that does not show violence in his future. if i got caught with a gun driving home today, i would be put in jail for a long time. kennedy: your rap sheet is

[laughter] deformity, very impressive. do you think the recall is going to be successful? if you have the two das from the two biggest cities in california, what message does it send to not only the rest of the state but other states and cities who have the same kind of problem ask. >> i do think it's going to be successful, i can't go grocery some without being bombarded outside ralphs with a guy with a clip board. there's a lot of people signing a petition. i've seen it in real life. number two, i just moved here like a month ago, it wasn't as a criminal defense lawyer, i've heard crazy cases he has to deal with and it's no joke. living here feels like it's often city, a little scary. i'm all for the recall. the message it will send is even democrats monitor independence rejecting this progressive kind

with consumer confidence, when will we see that take effect? >> consumer confidence is strong, i don't know, you have to be on russians or something to believe that, consumer confidence is at an all-time low and it's not surprising. you seen a tremendous amount of wealth and demand destruction. people have less money to save, less money to spend. people's quality of life has been affected in the financial markets are probably the best examples of why. the first stocks and bonds ever and americans are cutting back on what they spend, cutting back in with a safe to people's quality of life and receipt of gas pump and across the economy, quality of life has suffered around inflation and that's why the economy whether or not biden and powell admitted, the economy is suffering and suffering hard. kennedy: how annoying are rich people who just want to tell you how great the new electric cars are? >> tremendously but what's even more is rich people who don't understand how they get rich, they don't get to stimulus or government printing. jeff bezos gets it, he called

out joe biden this week saying stop demonizing oil companies, they are not the cause of inflation. it's government spending and that's why despite the fact we will see oil prices coming down at least a little bit near term, my guess is this is more like 1976, excuse me, 76 rather than 1980 meaning i don't think inflation problem is solved at all simply because the government has been solved yet. government created the inflation despite the fact we see oil prices coming down, they come down because the economy is slowing. it's a double edged sword, nice to see the prices come down but they are because we are likely heading to a recession in the second half of this year. kennedy: i remember in 1992 zealous republicans were trying to get richard nixon to run and
