reducing demand on oil. elizabeth: edward lawrence, thank you for your story. we lost the feed on that. i want you to hear the rest of that sound. joining us congressman french hill from house financial services and macro trends advisors, mitch roschelle. good to have you on. thanks for spending time, congressman, first to you, that report about saudi arabia, the president flew 7,000 miles to saudi arabia over oil. i mean that could be, that is probably a bigger carbon footprint if he simply traveled to texas or the dakotas. we would have gotten more oil from u.s. energy than coming back empty-handed from saudi arabia. what do you say? >> liz he burned more oil flying over there than he brought back from saudi arabia. that is sign of a flop of a trip. you're right, he should be focused on unleashing american energy right now. his priority should be every day meeting with his pipeline regular to make sure our lng facility at free port on the gulf coast open. it is 20% of our exports.

"the washington post" put out its own list of democrats who should run in 2024. he is in the danger zone of the low 30s in "the new york times" survey. how do you see this playing out, mitch? >> when you look at the inflation numbers, liz, last week, and you strip out food and energy, you see the core inflation grew by 6%. if you dig even deeper the regular household things we need just to go about our business,

some of those items are up 30, 40%. and if you look at the root cause of all of it, energy is such a big part of the goods and services that we consume as americans. so we need a intelligent energy policy. it is the only way to fix the supply side of the economy which is energy dependent. we were energy independent before all of this started. so we have to come up with a plan to get us back on the path to being energy independent and net exporter. elizabeth: to what mitch is saying, congressman, inflation is a supply side issue too. you need more goods in the economy like things like u.s. energy but now the president says he will do an executive order on climate change after giving in to democrat senator manchin on cutting out that spending from the budget reconciliation, inflation hit 9.1% a 40-year high. senator schumer is trying to ram this through before congress leaves for the august vacation. what do you think the president will do with executive actions on climate change? what will it be?

>> he can intimidate banks and investment banks not to lend money to fossil fuel companies, to replace the badly-needed reserves that we need to keep our economy moving, to keep our homes heated this winter. that is one thing he probably could do. because, look, every agency of the government has been focused on climate. even the war communique in the g7 countries contained a paragraph about holding global temperatures to 1 1/2 degrees centigrade increase. they don't know any other tune. you're right, this is a supply chain issue. we need not to propose new taxes on energy companies. we need to be unleashing energy companies and let them get to work on behalf of the american people and our allies. elizabeth: to what the congressman is saying, mitch, too, the president, his messaging. inflation is temporary, putin is to blame, 43-cent drop in gas prices will quit, folks, unacceptably high inflation. you've got now california governor gavin newsom taking a

direct shot at the president's age, saying, we can't communicate now, now with younger voters. robert reich, the former clinton labor secretary saying joe biden is too old to run again. >> well you know what? when your entire strategy is deflection and pointing fingers and blaming others, it is not hard, regardless of your age, it is not hard to find a reason to get behind people. the reality is we're approaching the midterms. biden is going to be on the ballot in the midterm because all of the bad policies are going to be the things that get you know, congressman's colleagues on the other side of the aisle unelected in november. it is not simply a matter of his age. it is just bad policy. could be 30 years younger with these bad policies i think americans would be equally as disgusted where we are right now. 84% think it is poor or fair. that is a terrible sign of the way americans feel about their

every-day lives. elizabeth: yeah, too what mitch is saying, congressman, the president says he will lower gas prices, right? you're going to see him say that, talk about it. then watch him say he can't do anything about it. he said that in march. watch. >> what is the message to americans who are looking for that relief now? when should they expect to see a real change in prices all -- >> changing. >> they have been coming down? >> coming down every single day to the best of my knowledge. >> when will we see impact of this business? >> i expect you won't see that for next couple weeks. >> [inaudible] president biden: going to go up. can't do much right now. russia is responsible. elizabeth: he is saying they're going up, gas will bo up, congressman. he is not taking up the invitation from the american petroleum industry to visit u.s. oil and gas executives around the nation. what is happening here? >> same thing happening on the border. he doesn't take personal

responsibility. he doesn't talk to the people that could do something about it. he won't go to the southwest border and secure it. he won't go to america's energy patch in western pennsylvania or midland, texas, tell them what we can do to get out of your way get more production back up to 13 million barrels a day. get free port open to export lng to our allies that is a lack of leadership. that is why the american people give them the same approval rating they gave richard nixon on the way to the helicopter in 1974. elizabeth: speaking of that, first lady jill biden had a fund-raiser, mitch, to what the congressman just said, that said quote every time you turn around the president is addressing problems, problems, events are swamping his agenda. he has been around since the nixon administration. why did it take so long? >> yeah. 50 years in politics, never had a real job in the private sector. doesn't know what real private sector solutions are. in fact, still talking about

♪. elizabeth: welcome back. the world of nascar racing in shock and mourning. a former nascar star, bobby east, murdered. his killer taken out in a swat raid. that suspect out on pa proehl accused of stabbing another man. fox news's william la jeunesse has more. william. reporter: liz, bobby east was a former race car driver and the man who killed him was on parole for robbery and had an outstanding warrant. this happened last wednesday 30 miles south of los angeles at a gas station. according to a witness east had recently become homeless and frequently hung out at the 76 station. the stabbing happened when east encounterd a another homeless man and his girlfriend behind the store. >> bobby east, he was sitting here with me and, he was hand ad can of soda, but i told them, he got up, finished it and got out of my view and walked up around the front of the store. i guess he went over by those

population decrease two years in a row to the tune of hundreds of thousands of people. people are fed up with this. a recent poll from "the new york times" said that 60% of working americans in this country want more funding for police officers because they want their communities to be safe. i don't know what it is going to take to get it through these politicians thick heads, the american public want law and order. elizabeth: we have a lot to talk about. police are rewarding a good samaritan, stopped a mass shooter who opened fire in a mall in indianapolis. three injured, two were killed. watch this. >> very, very fast response. i will tell you the real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began. >> what can you tell us about him? you want to tell us his name that would be great?

california as people are leaving in droves. people are taking actions into their own hands, because they don't feel safe. they're being victimized over and over and over again. people are tired of it. and listen, we as police officers, we are going to do the best job we can possibly do to get out there but we're three to five minutes away from the person called 911 who says they need help and thank god that individual lawfully carrying a firearm in indiana was able to stop the shooter before we had a mass shooting event at the mall. goes to show you good guys on scene with a gun can stop a suspect from doing that. we need to make sure people can liv fully carry firearms legally. they have the training to do it to stop a threat like that. elizabeth: how can you collapse the border when cops in u.s. cities nationwide are dealing with rising crime? you know what i mean, joe? look at numbers coming in from the fbi, number of assaults, aggravated assaults and grocery stores up 60% since 2020.

oversight, it is congressman james comer. congressman, that is not true what jen psaki had said. i mean, the "new york post" is reporting, based on a calendar of hunter biden's laptop that hunter biden met 30 times with then vice president biden right after, often right after hunter biden made personal business trips overseas to places like russia, romania and columbia but you are saying that the treasury and biden white house is blocking details on anything going on with their deal-making. what is it going on? >> well, we discovered that hunter biden had 150 suspicious activity reports filed against various bank accounts he had. suspicious activity report is the bank's way of covering theirselves from potential liability because they think a client has performed criminal activity. prior to joe biden becoming president, any member of congress could request suspicious activity reports from treasury. once joe biden came into office before it became public that

regardless no democrat wants to deal with the hunter biden situation. they know there is problem there. elizabeth: they're saying you have to have a democrat, who, adam schiff who will read it in a scif and mislead and leak incorrectly about it? >> yes. elizabeth: why can't you read it in a secure compartment a scif? it is critical for congress and american public to see what is going on. the last election was heavily influenced hunter biden laptop and misinformation. one out of seven voters said they may have changed their vote and not voted for biden. there is congressional oversight. we are a system of checks an balances. what tools do you have to force the issue? >> we're going public with the information that we have. unlike adam schiff we have factual substantive information. we have dozens of potential people that have done business with hunter biden. we have lawsuits that are pending, lawsuits already been settled. we have the bank records from the laptop.

♪. elizabeth: okay, a big uproar in d.c. over a story that we broke on friday night. speaker pelosi accused of insiderrism in a major way. hillary vaughn is in washington with more. hillary? reporter: good evening, liz. well speaker nancy pelosi's husband paul's stock buys are getting some attention and also some backlash. mr. pelosi just disclosed a million dollar stock purchase of a major chipmaker, nvidia in june. nvidia makes chips for cars, robots and other technology. the purchase though happening right before congress is expected to pass a bill that would give about $52 billion in aid to the semiconductor chip industry. some lawmakers say whether speaker pelosi knew about the purchase is not the point. she still stands to profit. even though it may not be the lawmaker themselves making the trade, lawmakers have the power to vote up or down on bills that could reap major returns for

them or their spouses invests. there are several bills in the house that would ban lawmakers and their spouses from trading stocks while in office but it is also not just watchdogs in washington that have caught on to the trend of paul pelosi's stock buys. mr. pelosi's stock trades are tiktok famous. investors tracking his trades, looking what he buys for tips on what they should invest in. that is really not a bad idea, liz, because paul pelosi's portfolio outperformed in some cases the s&p 500. liz? elizabeth: hillary vaughn, thank you so much. joining us from house oversight he is congressman byron donalds. congressman, a pleasure having you back on. your reaction to that report. this chipmaker's headquarters are in pelosi's home districts. her office is saying she is not the one making stock purchases, her husband is. what is your take on this? >> this is the same thing like joe biden doesn't know what hunter biden's business dealings

are. this is really a joke. you have to be a fool or not really think or understand that paul pelosi has information that the rest of the american people do not have. one of the key reasons why he has that information is because he married to the speaker of the house. this is outrageous. elizabeth: do you have proof of that? >> that they're married of course they are proof that they are married. elizabeth: not that. that he is getting information from pelosi? >> i don't have, i do not have proof of that. that should be looked at. you're okay. i don't have proof, it should be looked at. let's be very clear, if looks like a duck, walks a like a duck it is usually a duck. what we're seeing his trades seem to be right on time. it is fishy at best, and collusion at worse. elizabeth: we've been tracking the timing of this, congressman, of his stock trades linked to important legislation that will move stocks. we've been tracking this for about a year. his estimated net worth, they're

worth about $130 million and, congressman, to your point, paul pelosi also invested in apple and google. their headquarters are also in pelosi's home district too. we should point out paul pelosi was arrested in may for a dust. i. he will appear in court in august. your on this. >> my concern about all of this stuff, what it does, puts a stain, another stain frankly on our congress and our ability to effectively govern. it makes no sense to have spouses cutting trades like this, i don't know if they are are, not getting information from the spouses to serve up here on the hill. it is just wrong. it stinks to high heaven. everybody sees it. what democrats need to do, have questions about their leader and actually have her answer some issues, answer questions about this, see where it goes from there. elizabeth: she says it is free market, there should be transparency but when she is questioned, the speaker has been questioned about this before in the past, she gets very angry

♪. elizabeth: welcome to the show congressman dan meuser from house foreign affairs. congressman, it is great to have you back on, sir. first your reaction that dr. fauci says he is expected to retire in 2024. he says, quote, if congress is going to investigate him, quote, they're going to try to come after me, probably less so if i'm not in the job. is that true? >> well, look, his retirement couldn't come any too soon. he has been a very controversial figure, liz. he has made statements along the way that people found troubling. frankly he never seemed to be in doubt but also was never right. he wasn't right initially, i remember it very well with masks. he wasn't right about orrery entating things, working to help those most vulnerable. he gave us very mixed messaging when it came to schools and you

know, this whole idea that he, refused to european consider that the virus began at the wuhan lab where we have tons of evidence at this point, that is exactly where it occurred. we have emails highly suspect of those colleagues that changed their mind along the way. so he is not a very trusted individual and, look, he probably will have to sit down and answer some questions but how about be honest and tell us what happened. he can go on, he can go on his way from there? elizabeth: you know dr. fauci and dr. deborah birx, they were behind the shutdowns that broke the economy and put 22 million out of work. the response triggered rampant inflation. to your point, dr. birx, we don't know if it leaked from the wuhan lab, she is saying it could have leaked because you don't find it anywhere in nature. scientists were working on the exact same virus in vaccines. she said, we've been talking

about this and breaking news on this for years now. "the evening edit" is reporting how it rocketed. dr. birx say it came out of the box rapidly, ready to intech. most viruses like sars or merz take months or years to become infectious. this thing took off like a rocket. >> yeah, exactly. i met dr. birx when she joined vice president mike pence in early march. i sat in the situation room with her and dr. fauci, having discussions and having them brief us on what the plan was. had respect for dr. birx, and yes, she at least was willing to state that of course it was possibility, i.e. likelihood the virus came from wuhan. one of the main reasons is, what you outlined, it is virtually a mathematical certainty it came from the wuhan lab since they never found any mutations within any animals, not one. usually a virus like this, the

amount of testing that they did, they find hundreds of mutations. they found zero. elizabeth: yeah. >> in the animal kingdom, if you will. so, i'm glad she at least state has. you know, there was some excerpts from that book i didn't find to be particularly courageous in her comments. she was right there. she was part of the planning. but -- elizabeth: but what she is saying, wuhan scientists or any scientists or lab researcher in china could have been asymptomatic, not showing indications of infection and just walked out and infected everybody. so your final word? >> well, i'm just say that's correct and there is likelihood that is what occurred and let's face it, china did cover that up, those who were asymptomatic as well as the level of outbreak and you know, we did a china task force report that brought that information out and, you know, somebody like again, back to dr. fauci continues to refuse
