year-over-year. that's not the worst thing in the world, but it's certainly at multidecade highs still. the white house trying to paint it as good news as though wholesale inflation has only tick thed up a teeny, tiny bit. but eggs? they're up 40%. meat? 6.7%. fish? hope you're going vegetarian, that's 8.7%. milk a staggering 17%. coffee, 17.6%. we have all seen airplane, we know what happens when we run out of coffee. the president seems to be hell bent on running this whole economy into the ground by not acknowledging inflation because he says the whole problem, it is just in your head, loser. mr. president. >> are you worried about the inflation number though, sir? >> no, i'm not, because we're talking about one-tenth of 1% and, you know, anyway, thank you. kennedy: thank you. yeah, that's easy for you to

say, joe. when was the last time he was in a supermarket? 1982? today on fox kentucky republican congressman james comer said this is the most important topic for most americans, and democrat policies are only making things worse. watch. >> this is what republicans need to close the last 60 days of this election about, biden inflation. it's only getting worse. the more that the biden administration and democrats in washington spend money and print money, the higher inflation's going to to be. kennedy: ignore it. ostrich. print money. throw money at it. here's the crazy thing, food prices, they're not the only alarm bill. yes, gas prices have come down a little bit, but we're also on the verge of a massive rail strike that could grind transportation to a halt. you think you have supply chain problems before, that's when the choo-choos were running. it's going to send prices even higher. the fed is eyeing the biggest rate increase in 40 years which will cause mortgages to skyrocket.

that could lead to a housing collapse. so how on god's green earth did we get ourselves into this mess and, more importantly, how do we get out? here with me now, kentucky republican -- i'm sorry, kansas republican senator, so many k states, so little time, the great state of kansas. he is on the senate agriculture and energy committees, roger marshall joins me now. good evening, senator. how are you? >> kennedy, it's great to be on with you, and we just appreciate you making us smile every once in a while. so we appreciate your show. ing. kennedy: well, there are a lot of absurdities to point out. it's really unbelievable that the9 white house has such a poor grasp on this issue. i want to know from you sitting on agriculture and energy, did you ever think that all see the kind of intersection that you're seeing now? >> well, kennedy, you know, yesterday the white house is celebrating some victory. they're tone deaf. meanwhile, we got the worst economic news in my professional lifetime. we have grocery prices up 13%,

gasoline is up $1.50 compared to when joe biden was sworn into office, and then beyond that there seems to be no end in sight, right? so it is certainly a challenge. this is the number one concern for kansans back home. no, i never thought we would see this end in sight. he's doubling down on his energy policies, he's killing american energy and agriculture. kennedy: yeah. and telling people it's all in their heads. all at the same time, his press secretary, pretty rich of her to say, hey, this is actually great news. the president has saved us from a global economic meltdown. but there are a lot of bad things to come if inflation keeps going in the direction it's been in. it is not transitory, and now we are going to see jobs and housing affected with these massive rate hikes. what are you expecting to see from the fed? >> that's a great question. i mean, it's certainly going to be 75 basis points, it could be 100. but at the same time, they're also doing quantitative

tightening. don't underestimate that that impact, this double barrel of interest rates going on and the quantitative tightening as well. we've been doing. quantitative easing since barack obama, so this is -- all these chickens are coming home to roost now, and i'm afraid it's going to be a little bit of a hard landing. kennedy: yeah, i think you're absolutely right. and i don't have a lot of confidence that jerome powell, you know, he's the one who called inflation transitory. unfortunately, those words have come back to bite him. but we are feeling the pain of that bite. we're the ones who are paying for it because of this irresponsible monetary policy that we've been held hostage by for so many administrations now. at what point do we reach the point of no return? at what point has the fed completely lost control of their avenue in the economy? >> well, kennedy, that's a lot to unpack there, but we have a november election. somehow, we've got to limp along until we get there. but americans need to realize this inflation's not going away

because joe biden's not changing any of his policies. he's continuing to make it hard to obtain american energy, to obtain natural gas, to obtain oil. he's making it hard for refineries to do their job as well. so there's no end in sight. he's making it hard for farmers to produce as well. fertilizer prices have quadrupled. getting our products to market becoming harder every day because he shut off the labor supply. and you mentioned this critical, critical situation with the railroads right now, and joe biden's not helping that either. kennedy: yeah. all right. senator marshall, i mean, there -- on the energy committee alone, watching the exports of liquified natural a gas out of this country that could be powering our cities, that has to be very frustrating. do you think in the future you'll have more republican friends in the senate after the midterms? >> you know, i'm optimistic. i'm not a person to overpromise and underdeliver, but i think there's a great chance to pick up a couple seats, to bring in some common sense energy policy to stop this green, woke

religion that's going on. look, i want to leave in the world cleaner, healthier and safer than i found it, but there's common sense policy. turning coal plants into natural gas, starting some of the new generation nuclear plants, so there are solutions out there, there is a message of hope for america. but we have to flip the house. we've got to flip the senate. kennedy: well, we've got to do something, and let's start with getting rid of some of these horrible government policies. senator marshall, thank you so much for your time. i appreciate it. >> thanks, kennedy. kennedy: all right. inflation, obviously, the major issue facing voters ahead of the midterms. after 56 days a brand spanking new fox news poll shows the top four issues voters are extremely concerned about. inflation, obviously, at 59%. that's well above the future of american democracy at 50. abortion and crime just about even at 45 and 43 respectively. a washington post columnist says democrats need to get their

priorities straight where writing, quote: democrats might still do better than expected in the midterms, but they will not be able to wash away the inflation issue before votes are cast. so is that why so many vulnerable democrats are completely avoiding the topic on the campaign trail? let's get into it withen tonight's party possible, reflynn strategist alexander wilkes, author douglas schoen with us and base politics cofounder, hannah cox is back. welcome, everyone. great to see you all. >> good to see you, kennedy. >> great to be here. ken e ken oh, thanks. good to have you all back. so let's discuss this a little bit, alexandra. how could -- it's interesting, because democrats are now on the offensive saying that there's not going to be the a red wave in 56 days, that democrats are the ones who are going to pick up seats. nancy pelosi herself has said that, but you have a lot of people within the democrat caucus who had a hard time articulating inflationary pain to their constituents.

what are they doing wrong? >> well, sure. even look at "the new york times" this past week, the same polling warning signs that were there for democrats in 2020 are present now in 2022 in the same places. so i think that, you know, there are definitely weak spots within some of that polling that would suggest that these pick-ups that they're anticipating might not be there. but i think that they have tried everything in their power to rewrite history on this. they tried to change the definition of inflation after describing it as transitory didn't work. then they tried, you know, to hold this ridiculous celebration on the white house lawn lauding whatever achievement the inflation reduction act was. you know, i mean, it's just absurd. we have americans right now who are using buy now, pay later services for groceries. and i am just astounded each and

every time i go to the grocery store and i see that i have spent over $100, and it comes down to two or three bags. this is just unsustainable for the average family if prices continue where they're at. that's going to do you about $8,000 a year extra in what they're spending just to cover inflation. kennedy: yeah. and that's not even taking into consideration people who live in food deserts, doug, people who don't have the choice between three different grocery stores. they're lucky if they've got one within 50 miles of them. so what can democrats be doing better on inflation? if i will ask you, you're the democrat pollster. what do you tell people in your party in power? >> change the subject, kennedy. that is, any democrat who is trying to run on lower inflation numbers or the inflation reduction act or anything related is making a mistake. frankly, the best thing you tell democrats for those who really want to know is run against the

republicans, run against donald trump, change the subject away from the inflation numbers, interest rates and now housing prices starting to come down. kennedy: i mean, that's what you tell them if they want to stay in power and maintain the status quo, which is really hurting people, but, you know, if i'm a single mom -- and i am -- and i'm having a hard time at the grocery store, you know or it's like the gas pain has eased up a little bit, but everything else is compounding. just ignoring it, is that really going to work with, hannah? >> absolutely not. and i think it's actually time for democrats to admit that their spend, spend, spend policy, these keynes -- keynesian economics do not work. they continue to fail. they need to understand that free market capitalism is what's always made this country rich, it's what has always provided people with opportunity and what they should be turning back to versus the progressives they keep digging deeper into.

they cannot ignore this. we know this is the most important issue to voters. we know that if you continue to ignore it, that's going to cause outrage. and instead of deregulating, actually coming in and doing things to get the government off the throat of the market, we instead see democrats coming together, especially klobuchar and her clan, trying to push antitrust legislation, trying to go after the tech sector which is one of the sectors actually doing well. all those things would actually make inflation worse. so i i just think they're completely on the wrong pathway, and i think it's delusional to think they can keep burying their head in the sand. kennedy: yes. when that is the number one issue, you can't ignore it. you have to address people's pain, because when the pain gets too much, voters get real emotional. and when they're e motional, that means that they are enthusiastic about voting people out who don't give a crap about their needs. all right, party panel, please don't go anywhere. much more coming up with the three of you, by gum.

[laughter] and i think that what you're seeing right there is someone who's really struggling to believe her own lie even as she's saying it about the

border. because no one actually believes that the border is secure. no one who sees what's going on down there when it comes to the traffic of people and drugs, the human trafficking that's going on, can possibly believe that it is secure. now, look, you mentioned earlier the new polling that is out from fox. personally, i don't think that poll is all that valuable because it's registered voters, not likely voters, but it still indicates that border security is something that is a top-line issue for a vast number of voters including independent voters. and so i think this is another sign that republicans can't actually be content, as your prior guest said not to disagree with the congressman, though that's -- kennedy: senator. >> -- something i enjoy doing occasionally, senator in this case. but it's one of these situations where a lot of members of congress, and a lot of members of the senate are of the mind that they can just run on the fact that inflation is very

high, the economy is not very good, and they can just assume that they're going to prevail in lots of different contests this fall. i think they need to be leaning into the border issue, leaning into the crime issue because the simple fact is that the democrats don't have a good response to them on any of these fronts. and i think the can conservatives do have the advantage in saying, look, we actually care about these issues, we want to have solutions. law and order-based solutions that protect your family, that protect national security and that prevent the flow of dangerous drugs into america in ways that are damaging our communities. kennedy: hey, man, they have both houses of congress and the president right now. and they have the same thing back in 2010, and they didn't do anything about immigration then. they've let the entire problem malinger which just goes to show they really don't care about people. they don't care about vulnerable people who are killing themselves trying to get in this country. even if they have a horrible life wherever they're fleeing

from, they're giving their lives trying to cross rivers that best them, and morgues are filling up in texas because they don't make it. little kids are being sent by themselves with smugglers for thousands of dollars. so the only people who are being enriched here are the coyotes, as you point out. so she has failed utterly at this job. she doesn't have answers, she doesn't have policies. and then she has the stones to go out and complain that she's been put in a thankless and impossible position. what will her next task be then? >> this policy failure is a choice, kennedy. that's what's so important about what you were just saying there. this is a choice that they're making. and it's one that, ultimately, leads to human despair, to death, to all sorts of ramifications that we should hate as a society. and, you know, look, for all of the consternation that the media raised during the trump the era

>> oh. look, this is infuriating, that he's even doing these kind of interviews. he literally cannot make the trains run on time. we are on the precipice of a major national disaster if we cannot avert this strike with the freight lines and union workers, and here he is discussing his presidential ambitions. and it's just, it is just so emblematic of where the biden administration has been at every single turn, at every single crisis. the baby formula crisis, it just suddenly appeared on their radar when people couldn't buy baby formula even though they had warning signs months and months before. this rail strike was something that they saw coming months and months before, but yet here we are listening to pete butte with judge muse about -- buttigieg muse about his presidential aspirations. i mean, this is just a white house that is asleep at the switch, and if pete buttigieg is their savior, i don't know what to say about the democratic party.

kennedy: all right. is he their savior, doug? if first of all, does president biden run again in 2024? no. if not, who succeeds him? >> well, kennedy, i hate to be the one to disabuse you, but right now joe biden is running, he's planning to run for re-election, he's gearing up and, you know, i mean, they may have to literally remove him from the election which is very hard to do a with a incumbent president. and right now he's polling ahead of donald trump in a lot of states and a lot of national polls. so until you hear to the contrary, believe that joe biden can be and will be a candidate for are re-election however absurd that a may appear to some. kennedy: it is absurd to many. in fact, 67. % of voters polled, including democrat, do not want joe biden to run again. many of them feel the same way

about donald trump. they don't want him to to run either, which is why they're talking about people like buttigieg and governor newsom out many in california. so, hannah, you've also got mike pompeo and mike pence, the mikes, who are spiking the football hoping that they can run for the gop nomination. what do you think? >> i think nobody's asking for my -- any of this. i kind of laughed when it said that pete buttigieg was waiting for the call. the only call is his own ego. the democrats can't win without the black vote. it's dead on arrival. so that's just absurd. i think with mike pompeo, he's a very forgettable person. he's a neo-con, he's a war monger, and that's not where the gop is anymore, thank god. that's one of the good evolutions we've seen. i don't think any of this is actually based in reality, and i think it's kind of a sad portrait of where we are in our political system where there's just not a very deep bench of

the left, and many on the right are going to crowd out people that could be better for americans. kennedy: so is there anyone in the two with major parties that you like at this point, hannah? >> yeah, rand paul, all day. all day long. he has held the line on multiple issues, the number one people fighting to get us information on the origins of covid. he's very principled, very free market-based, limited government, pro-individual liberties. this is actually -- exactly who libertarians and conservatives say they are. kennedy: i wish he were included in the mix a little bit more in terms of who people talk about when they discuss who might legitimately seek the nomination. and i think that he would be phenomenal, i really do. there are, obviously, interesting people and interesting things happening in the libertarian party and a lot of voices that i like, but one of the most consistent in washington right now, you're absolutely right, senator paul. all right. well, speaking of palace

>> well, kennedy, i think the chinese official today the said something about the chinese and the russians want to take the world in a reasonable direction. i guess if beijing, you know, is killing uighurs, committing genocide and russia is killing well over 100,000 ukrainians now, they think that's a reasonable direction, i don't think the rest of the world is buying this. yeah, we have to be concerned. the seizure, basically, of the major trade routes, you know, high that and russia working -- china and russia working together on the arctic, that would be terrible for america. so we can't do anything that would either empower xi with taiwan or, i mean, we do have to push back. but the one great thing about this is is it's going to put the west further and further aligned as well just like russia's invasion of ukraine has done. so it's very interesting, you know, development. kennedy: so, obviously, that is

the downside for them, is you have economies that want to thrive that do err a little bit more toward free markets, not the united states as much as we used to be. and right now china and russia, they're really each other's main trading partners. russia is selling china a bunch of their liquified natural gas -- >> titanium -- kennedy: yes, absolutely. russia is buying from china mobile phones and cars. you can only sustain that for so long. obviously, you know, the communist party in china doesn't necessarily trust russia, but is there distrust for -- their distrust for russia greater than their hatred for the west? >> well, that's a great question, and i think only time is really going to answer that question. but i can say this, and i think it was the tolling yen 40 who once said evil people, you never know whether they're cheating on one another or they're really,

truly aligned. i think what we can expect here is this is going to fall apart. it's probably not going to last very long. right now it's an alliance of convenience, and you just specified some of those. and also gas, i mean, you have to think about natural gas with, this new siberian pipeline that they're going to build. you know, that codependence does is sort of drive the need for alliance, but i think that's near term. you can't trust putin, you can't trust xi, so i don't think it lasts in the long term. kennedy: all right, so let me ask you this, because if russia really did have china's trust, china would be giving them weapons systems to further fight in ukraine, but they're not. russia's having to buy missiles from north korea. what does that say to you about that aspect of their relationship? >> i think xi jinping is just very calculating in how far he's willing to push the west, specifically the united states. he knows that we're sort of gearing up. we're late to the party, but we're gearing up in this near-peer or really in many
