president joe biden said inflation is essentially flat. he went on to make the point we've not seen another spike from inflation. it is already at a 40 year highs. just look at this chart. you see where president joe biden took office. you see where the american rescue plan became law. now democrats starting to back away from the promises in the inflation reduction act. >> i think it will bring it down a bit, i think the biggest reason i supported it will allow us to make more things in america, solar batteries, wind energy, electric vehicles instead of china. i don't think the ultimate source of inflation is going to be this act that will bring it down. i think it will be fed policy. reporter: committee for a responsible federal budget says the spending under this president is making it difficult to get inflation under control. >> but the biden administration we have found after running the numbers has actually added to the debt over the coming 10 years by $4.8 trillion in new borrowing. that is an exceptional amount.

because that is what it was last month. you're still very sick. and this president and the biden democrats in the house are still doing the things that got us here. they want to spend more, they want to tax more, they want to regulate, they want to continue to assault our domestic energy all right? they're driving us further into recession and driving up inflation. as a matter of fact they're battling the fed right know with the type of actions they're taking. the fed is raising interest rates and pulling way back on the their balance sheet and yet the spending counters that. elizabeth: carol, how do you measure in mathematically how is inflation up an inch? >> [laughter]. i think the congressman had it correct. it is kind of like oh, well i gained 20-pounds but now i only gained a pound, so my weight is under control. it is just a complete insanity

and it does seem like they're operating on a different memo as the congressman pointed out. they're continuing to do the things that one would do if you didn't have inflation. they're not doing anything to help the supply side. they are continuing to spend. and at the same time the federal reserve got it completely different memo. they got the memo that we have massive inflation that requires massive intervention on their part. certainly the two sides are not talking to each other and working in complete opposite direction. unfortunately americans are paying the price for it. elizabeth: you see the atlanta fed tracker, gdp tracker downgraded to 0.5% growth for the third quarter, downgraded from 2.6%, congressman. so is this why the president has not had a sit-down in seven months? is this why his team keeps him out of the media? he gets visibly frustrated and repeatedly makes mistakes saying pandemic is over. he used it as a basis for the

one trillion dollar student loan bailout. >> they must be telling him things and he actually briefs it, that they cut the deficit $500 billion how wonderful that is. last year they spent 3 trillion. they only overspent 2 1/2 trillion. telling us covid is over. i wish he would inform his secretary of education and as well in the recent cr, the continuing resolution he has $22 billion in there to fight covid. so if that is the case i guess we can remove that 22 billion as well. elizabeth: to the congressman's point, carol if it's over should the president give up his vaccine mandate for federal workers. he is still fighting that in court? should he give up his emergency powers? should he rehire all the soldiers, cops, firemen and all those health workers fired over the vax mandate, carol? >> yes, yes, and yes, liz. what a weird way to announce the pandemic is over, that instead of you know, repealing these

mandates, talking to people about getting them back into work after separating them unfairly from their jobs he is just going to kind of like let this slip on 60 -- "60 minutes." that pandemic was ended long ago. the wonderful judge that stop the mask mandate on planes put an end to it. it is time to get rid of euas, get rid of the ridiculous mandates, let people go back to work to take away the power unfortunately, federal government and local governments don't want to give up. elizabeth: what is striking congressman, your reaction to the president saying he is undecided if he is going to run again in 2024. you know it is rare for an incumbent president to hold control for a house in the midterm. only bill clinton did it in 1998 and george w. after 9/11. what was your thought you heard him saying he was undecided about running again? >> he is beginning to agree with nearly 70% of america, right, who is very dissatisfied with

his performance on every issue from afghanistan through the terrible crisis at our border which is a shameless, unmitigated disaster. he is probably figuring that one out for himself that, maybe maybe he is not doing too good of a job. elizabeth: carol, to what the congressman is saying, show the viewer the number of companies doing layoffs and hiring freezes. carol, the number of companies doing this continues to grow. under this president we've seen five trillion dollars in new deficits. that is about the size of germany. shutting down u.s. oil and gas. at least hundreds of billions of dollars in new regulations, like 40 times versus the prior administration. we went from steady, consistent growth of 2 1/2% a year, stock market gains, low inflation averaging around 2%. we had gas down. now we see the direct opposite, carol. your final word? >> yeah.

california right now. if he becomes the president of the united states he will continue the destruction of the united states of america. yes, gavin newsom is calling for an inquiry into what happened in nantucket in those 50 migrants that were put there. if gavin newsom was smart and a leader he would have an inquiry into the 300 young people who died today because of the fentanyl coming across the border. the illegal migrants coming into our state, people dying there. i don't think in nantucket anybody died. nobody drowned. nantucket is an island. i'm surprised they didn't make them swim to the mainland but, yeah, it is just a disaster. what he has done in this state, and he wants to debate ron desantis. actually, liz, i would pay money to see that debate.

there are some great americans that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and it is a disaster, a shame to see what's happening to this country, how we're absolutely losing it, just in, what, liz, 20 months? crime is rampant. crime is up in 70 cities across our nation. 50% in homicides, 36% in assaults, 13% in robberies, you know? new orleans just took over from st. louis, it has become the murder capital of the world. new orleans, you know? crime, murders are up 141%. carjackings up 110%. elizabeth: yeah. >> what it is, leest staffing in police in modern history. liz, do you see a pattern here. we have to change the pattern. elizabeth: and california has a cop shortage as well.

>> oh, yeah. well, you know, we just went through the whole fiasco up in san francisco with boudin. fortunately we were able to recall him, they put this new girl in brooke jenkins. boy she came out of the block. she is fired up. she will change everything and on and on and on. what bothers me about that is, i've seen this with so often with california democrats. they're all talk. i think the people of california, me, i want to see action. i want to see her actually clean up the city of san francisco, you know? down here in l.a., unfortunately we had a recall of gascon and, we needed 567,000 registered voters and on, they got a little

over 700,000 and then they disqualified so many of them that unfortunately he will stay here in los angeles. it is a shame. elizabeth: are you going to run again? >> [laughter]. liz, i got a taste of politics. it is a tough game. actually i was on the golf course and barack obama was there. i said let's be nice. i will to bo go over there and say hi. i talking a little bit run for governor. he goes, oh, i know. i said to him, politics is a tough dirty game. he looks at me, it sure is. and i don't know if i want to get into it. what i'm trying to do with work with the republican party to be the big tent party. we need more great republicans in our party to save our country. so i'm working with the

dealers stole one of his laptops for blackmail. how can the president say this is not a problem? >> well he keeps saying he didn't observe and doesn't see a problem but you know that doesn't change the fact that the actions speak louder than his ability to not see what is all around him. you know one of the problems that i have with this president right now is he doesn't see what's around him. he doesn't think he made a mistake in afghanistan. he doesn't think his policies are leading to inflation. he doesn't understand a lot of things. the american people can't take what he understands to the bank. they have to take the actions which include criminal activity by hunter biden. elizabeth: so, what the congressman is saying too, sol, your take on this, 30 senate republicans demand u.s. attorney general merrick garland which of delaware special attorney weiss independent counsel schedule authority. he is leading -- what is your

take on that? >> notice it is important the words they use. notice they're not calling for a new special council, calling for david weiss, a u.s. attorney, essentially a career guy, a guy with a reputation as a straight-shooter, they're calling on him to have the special counsel authorities. it will make it harder for merrick garland to interfere in his investigation and hopefully harder for him to be fired if there is a disagreement. so i think that's important because when i first read it, i thought, oh, god, you don't want to start up a whole new team. that will delay but that is not what they're something for. they're not going to get it but i think it's a reasonable request. elizabeth: interesting. you know, there is, comes after the fbi whistle-blowers, right, that senator grassley was talking about. the warning, the senators are giving final word, congressman, to the ag, do not, do not, ice out or chill whistle-blower activity because he is basically saying you can't talk to

a billionaire. here is the problem here. a huge number of africans, 600 million, 43% of the population do not have electricity. they need electricity. quickest way to get that is with natural gas. in the united states, a shift from generating electricity with coal to generating with natural gas has led to a huge decline in emissions in the united states. down 32% between the year 2005 and 2019. that is because of the switchover to natural gas. if you are concerned about emissions, it has been enormous help. this is what john kerry does not want people to do in africa. why? they should wait and use renewables and add fewer emissions in the future. meanwhile, they have no electricity now.
