there, submerging homes and businesses. the hurricane affecting rich and poor and pretty much everyone in between. yet when it comes to aid, vice president kamala harris on friday suggesting relief funds shouldn't be distributed equally. >> it is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions and impacted by, by issues that are not of their own making x. if ts in a way that is the about giving resources based on equity. kennedy: equity. issues of their own making. the comments reportedly causing panic many florida, as you can imagine. critics jumping all over the vice president. on saturday a reporter gave the veep a chance to careen it up. >> -- clean it up. >> you clarify what you meant

about equity for hurricane relief? ♪ kennedy: fortunately, the head of fema has a very different preponderance on how to help people after a devastating natural disaster. watch. >> we're going to support all communities. i committed that to the governor, i commit to you right here that all floridians are going to be able to get the help that is available to them through our programs. kennedy: thank you, madam. that is what leadership looks like. don't put people into an unnecessary panic. give them a little bit of reassurance so everything that's already been taken from them isn't compounded by the fear that they are going to be last to get help. back to why the vice president would say equity will drive relief efforts, is she capable of not screwing even the tiniest thing up? let's get into it with tonight's party panel, new york post columnist and spectator contributor karol markowitz, a brand new floridian with. she has a thing or two to say about this. we've got democrat strategist, former biden campaign surrogate and current vice president fan

boy, kevin walling, is here -- [laughter] >> always. kennedy: yeah. always. and pace politics founder, she is hannah cox. everyone, welcome. karol, i will get into it with you. obviously, you live in florida. you weathered the storm elsewhere, but you know a lot of people who were affected by the surprise turn of the storm. how are people reacting to the vice president's comments? >> so the problem with vice president harris is that she starts a sentence, and it's clear she doesn't quite know where it's going to end up. she has the stop words, equity, impacted community, that she knows to use, but in general, she's just extremely underprepared, and her understanding of concepts is extremely weak. she often comes off as a kid who hasn't done her homework, and it's pretty telling the white house had no comment on this. floridians are have really banded together to help each other. i've heard nothing but positive words about governor in my state, and i think this is just

a way to get, you know, some sort of attack going on anything to do with ron desantis. and it's pretty pathetic. kennedy: i have to say, karol, i read your article today on the state of late night tv including "the daily show" and how -- >> i know who should take over "the daily show." kennedy: no, baby, i'm right here. i'm kennedy nation, i'm having a good time. but your defense of gutfeld was fantastic and the way you described why and how that show is successful, i thought, was really well done. go to new york post.com and read the article right now. i love it. >> thank you so much. kennedy: kevin, i don't love when the vice president does this. even when you're talking about broader issues, when something can be taken out of context causing unnecessary panic, i think as a public servant it does a great disservice. your thoughts. >> i think you're right in terms of her comments being taken out of context when it comes to hurricane disaster rebuilding in florida and in south carolina.

and that's why the it was so important for, obviously, the fema administrator, you just playeded the clip from her. the president today on the road down in puerto rico responding to the devastation there, pledging the resources of this administration, $60 million more to alleviate and better prepare the island for these kinds of storms. you're going to see the same thing happening on wednesday, and i'm hopeful that it will be a joint appearance, obviously, with the president and the governor because we've got to check our political labels at the door as you rightly point out, kennedy, when anything like this happens. there should not be politics involved, there should not be any issues of inequality involved. we've got to tackle this chi sis together as americans, and that's hopefully what we'll see continue. kennedy: yes, and we're going to talk about the media response to the governor's response in just a little bit. hannah, i want to get back to this idea of equity, because it's one of those things that sounds really great, but libertarians have a very hard time with because, essentially, it is just a reworded form of

socialism and redistribution that is supposed to encourage equitable outcomes, but that is not always the case with human beings. so how is equity actually inequality? >> right. so equity's actually a code word for inequality. that's actually always been what it stood for. it stands for collectivism, taking from some people, giving to others. that's not what country was built on. we were built on equality, and there's all the difference in the world between those two things. when you have equality, people have equal opportunity, they have ability to work hard, to try to pull themselves up by the boot straps, try to build a life for themselves as they choose to do and to real the rewards of that. people should be treated equally under the law. what she's advocating for is something very different, and that is treating people differently under the law, treating people differently, giving them different government resources even under the law because of the immutable character they were born into.

that is something that always succeeds in making everybody equally poorer and destitute. it's a terrible idea. it's a childish fantasy that you could do this through central planning, and instead we need to recognize that when they use these words, these aren't accidental words, right? they have an agenda they're trying to move us towards, and it's away from capitalism, away from individualism, andst towards things that have failed over and over trout history. kennedy: well said, hannah cox. whoo! the left-wing media ramping up attacks on governor desantis and his hurricane response, claiming the governor's evacuation efforts fell short specifically in lee county where they were hit head on. desantis is standing by his decisions, and he pushed back when a cnn reporter questioned his choices. watch. >> why do you stand behind lee county's decision to not have that mandatory evacuation until the day before the storm? >> well, did you -- where was your industry stationed when the storm hit? were you guys in lee county? no, you were in tampa.

they were following the weather track, and they had to make decisions based on that. kennedy: that's how you shut down a stupid question. but is the monday morning quarterbacking, is it appropriate here, karol? >> it's not, kennedy. and as a new floridian, it's been pretty gross watching the media route for the hurricane. it didn't matter if people die askedded or homes were lost so long as they could finally, finally pin something on governor deantis. desantis regularly teaches a master class in how to handle this bias, disinformation-spreading media. other politicians should be paying attention. but i think this week he's taught a master class in what to do during a hurricane, after a hurricane, before a hurricane. i think he's handled this amazingly. this was really an unpredictable weather event that was -- nobody really knew where it was heading, and i think that the resources that he got on the ground during the hurricane and after the hurricane have really been impressive. i feel safe here. i feel like somebody normal, an adult is in charge.

kennedy: does that scare you, kevin? [laughter] that people in florida actually feel like their governor, at least during this event, was looking out for them? >> well, kennedy, i'm a democrat, so everything scares me, especially in the month of october, now 36 days away from the midterm elections. [laughter] but, listen, there's plenty of -- governor desantis issue wise, the hurricane is not it. there will be plenty of time to assess response, preparedness, calls made before, during and after this hurricane. but right now i think what you're going to see is a president biden united with governor desantis on wednesday tackling this issue -- kennedy: i hope so. i hope they do. >> -- making all resources available by need to the people of florida and the people of south carolina down the road as well. i'm sure he will go there too. kennedy: are young

that, because that would be a kiss traction and a disgrace in the wake of this hurricane when we're still finding bodies on the ground in these communities. kennedy: so what are you thoughts here, hannah? what is the role of the state and federal government in the pa face of a natural -- in the face of a natural disaster like this? >> i think even as a libertarian i think there's a role for government when it comes to natural disasters. we need to pull together, make sure people have resources, we need to make sure we are doing what we can to get people to safety, and it seems like ron desantis has done a very good job of that. i'm glad to hear that the residents feel safe and cared for in this time. i've been harshly critical over desantis over things like anti-free speech, i think he's gone after the free market at times. there's ways to criticize him, but this is not the time, place or reason to, and think we're at a bottom rung of the political discourse when we see people trying to make hyperpartisan attacks over simply trying to make sure people get the resources they need. there are real people at the end

of this, real lives, real people who will be impacted for days to come, often who have lost their property, have to figure out their job situations. we need compassion, and that's what i hope to see shine through. we're still americans at the end of the day, and a lot of people are trying to get cheap political points out of this, which is just disgusting. kennedy: yeah, i agree. and i like that kevin said it will be good for the governor and the president to walk around, visit hard-hit parts of the state and reassure people, make hem feel better, let them know that there is someone there who is looking out for them and not necessarily looking out for the white devils because they don't deserve it. [laughter] so, karol, do you think this hurts or helps governor desantis' ultimate presidential hopes? >> so, i mean, you know, i know that everybody talks about the next election, but i think he has an election coming up where, obviously, you know, he's favored to win, but i think -- it's important that he wins by a lot to show that his policies have been, you know, supported in the state.

rattling has been met with a pretty firm media response here from david petraeus to h.r. mcmaster, and mcmaster said that if putin uses a music, it would be a suicide weapon. a nuke. what do you see here? >> yeah. i don't know that it's particularly good form or helpful maybe in the current environment for former generals or agency directors or anyone to be out there talking about how many russian soldiers we're going to kill if he uses or deploys a tactical nuke on the battlefield. i think that is best left to the biden administration having very serious, very straightforward, very impressive conversation off the radar screen with putin's advisers if he still has any. look, the problem we're facing is, as you pointed out, putin's got himself into a corner. he's got an ever shrinking circle of advisers or people that actually feel, i think, up to the task of telling him the

truth on any given subject. he's got thousands of men fleeing russia trying to avoid conscription. he's turned to north korea and iran to, to build back his warehouse of artillery and drones. he's jailing protesters and journalists. look, this is, in no way is this going well for him. but the problem is where's the offramp. where is an exit from his perspective. the world is calling him a war criminal, as they have for some time, as he deserves to be called a war concern. -- criminal. and so the problem is, you know, how does he get himself out of this mess if, in fact, he's inclined to, because there are very few options and, as you pointed out, they've been implying -- including dmitry medvedev, who typically has been not prone to to drama -- they're

all implying that, you know, they would use musics to defend the motherland. -- nukes. kennedy: that's a horrible idea. [laughter] this whole thing -- >> i believe it is too. kennedy: you really have been cassandra this whole time. you have been laying out everything, what happened last week or the week before, you were talking about the referendum and, you know, that was going to be his ace in the hole. so if there were any further incursions into once russian-claimed territory, he was going to get them back by just calling them russia and hen attacking the u.s. or whoever else was supplying weapons in those regions. so now it seems like ukraine, the military has a little bit more of an upper hand. so now what is the next step? >> well, that's the problem. look, an mention sayings was, it was bizarre, it was -- and not just roundly condemned by everyone including the u.n., when the u.n. condemns something, you know something's

up, right? they typically don't get off their ass to do anything. but, look, it wasn't just condemned, it was ridiculed, right in and, again, you have to look at this prosecute perspective of where is -- from the perspective of where is putin going? he's tried this limited mobilization. he's going to throw tens of thousands of poorly trained troops into the mix as cannoned fodder. even the russian press is starting to crack. even the russian press is starting to point out the fact that this war, this military operation as putin tries to call it isn't going well. so the more doors that get closed, the more concerning this is, because, you know, ever since this whole thing started -- kennedy: yes. >> -- our problem has been trying to read his plans, his momentives, his intentions because, you know, it's tough. that's a heavy lift to get inside his -- kennedy: no, you're absolutely right. we are at a focal point, and we will reach critical mass either where all of russian society

[laughter] i know i'm being banged up by the republicans, but come -- bring it on. kennedy: bring it on like donkey kong. well, he's not helping. is this bailout just a vote-buying scheme? and what about skyrocketing college costs? the panel is back. carol mark wits, kevin walling and hannah cox. karol, these are things we have to think about when we have children. is it worth going into debt? >> yeah. kennedy: i can't imagine every generation, every student from here on out is going to have student loan forgiveness. >> yeah. i mean, i always say that going to graduate school was the biggest financial mistake i've ever made. i think that had i known not to do that, that would have been good. i took out loans, and i don't think i got very much out of it. and biden's plan to ship income from the working class, the professional class, should have never been approved in the first place. it's insane that he compares this to ppp loans.

first of all, it was the government that closed the businesses and had to give them the ppp loans. nobody forced anybody to get an expensive graduate degree or a law degree, and your plumbers shouldn't have to pay for that degree. it's just that simple. kennedy: well, and also, the ppp loans, the total presumption magnet, kevin. >> oh, yeah. kennedy: there was no vetting process. >> oh, 100%. kennedy: and karol is right in that the government shut down businef putting this program together, and now we are billions and billions in the hole because dead people got loans. >> yeah, kennedy. and we're finally getting some accountability on that front with the doj ramping up investigations into ppp loan fraud and prosecuting folks and, hopefully, trying to get some of that money back. but i think you made such an excellent point in that woman on the street segment with just how expensive college is. god bless that kid that is having his parents pay for it and, i think, shining a light

especially on that dodgers ' fan who went to technical school is something we should hold up in our society. and trade schools are so fundamentally important as are community colleges. and not every kid has to go to a $50,000-a-year liberal arts degree college. already so many jobs especially with the infrastructure bill, chips bill where we need people building things in this country and to focus on trade schools and away from, you know, this four-year degree being the epitome of society. i think it's so important in your segment. and what we've talked about in the past couple of years shines a light on that, for sure. kennedy: yeah, and it was interesting getting a cross-section of people having very different experiences and different per perceptions of colleges. but the democrats are saying everyone has to go, like, it is our moral obligation to send people to college because it is a good in and of itself. it's not. i mean, the fraud is happening with the colleges and universities that have no

accountability, who allow people to take out debt for majors that will earn them almost no money. >> yeah. it's really frustrating to watch this cycle just repeat and repeat and repeat. they've already pretty much destroyed k-12 education in this country, they've made those degrees all but worthless, and thousand they want to do the same thing to higher education. at the end of the day, we don't need -- the vast majority of the population -- to get these kinds of degrees. kevin's absolutely right, we need people to do actual jobs that can do actual labor and go to trade schools, and that should be encouraged. we need to stop stigmatizing those things and help people understand the kinds of opportunities that are out there for hem. and we also immediate to actually address the reasons why college got so expensive in the first place, and that is because the government got involved in the free market, started throwing a ton of money into the system. it removed all accountability, it basically said anybody can take out $50,000 a year and pay for these degrees that aren't worth that in the market. if you actually had capitalism in the system, very few people

could afford to pay 40, 50,000 a year for a college cree. that means -- degree. the colleges would have to lower their rates, close, and that's not going to happen because democrats just want to keep taking our money and basically giving corporate welfare to these universities and institutions. it makes zero sense. lit do nothing -- it will do nothing to bring the cost down, and it will continue to make college more expensive down the road. it's as -- it's asinine. it makes no sense. kennedy: yes. and a good friend of mine pointed out that colleges with large endowments are essentially hedge funds. [laughter] >> yes! kennedy: it is a different type of corporate welfare, and we have to do more to change the system than give out free money. well, speaking of financial funny business, kim kardashian has agreed to pay $1.26 million to settle charges related to an alleged cryptocurrency pump and dump scheme. man, i haven't used that phrase

since i was drinking as a new mom. last year kim posted this to her instagram account -- [laughter] you guys, you should totally get these tokens, promoting etherium max. the sec says kim failed to disclose that she was paid $250,000 for that a post which went out to her 200 million followers. within days of it, the crash in value and anyone who invested after kim told them to got royally flushed. should kim k. with in prison instead of the inmates she tries to free? karol. >> leave kim kardashian alone. seriously. it's very hard to keep up with the kardashians -- [laughter] and it's just not difficult to imagine that she got busy and failed to mention that she was pushing some crap coin which was absolutely an advertisement. of course people should disclose when they're being paid to push a financial product. she did, however, say this is not financial advice, but she

should have still said she was being paid. i kind of feel like if you're taking financial advice from the kardashians, you maybe deserve what you get. a million dollars plus seems a bit much, but, yes, disclose if you're pushing some financial product on the rest of us. kennedy: kevin? >> lock her up. i chant that whatever chance i get -- [laughter] >> leave kim alone. >> what's that? [laughter] kennedy: that you think she should -- >> leave kim alone. >> no, i agree completely that she should disclose that she was repping this brand. you know, anyone getting crypto advice from kim kardashian, i think, probably has it coming to them. and we just should not follow celebrities' advice on any product whatsoever in terms of this influencer culture. >> i think -- can. >> except your, kennedy. kennedy: the whole thing is fascinating because, you know, she really is working hard to

use her name for good in terms of criminal justice reform, which is a lot more than i can say about members of the squad, hannah. and, you know, she does, she really does rye. she has a good heart. but the problem is because she has been charged and has settled with the sec, she may have a hard time becoming a lawyer. >> that's a great point, kennedy. and, listen, i've defended this girl until the cows come home. i think she's great. i really do respect her work in criminal justice reform. i think it's significant. i wish more celebrities would not only use their name towards those causes, been -- but do the work behind the scenes. she's trying to do the real work of becoming somebody that can contribute in more meaningful ways than just her name and money. so i love that about her. i think this situation seems very excessive on the sec's part. first and foremost, you really think she got her hacking bitcoin and nf, the trkzs come

on. you have to know that's an advertisement. and i think you have to be really careful who you take financial advice. she did post this was an ad, she just didn't disclose how much she got paid. the whole thing seems like a big, overblown thing from the government, and they're just trying to get their money as they always are. kennedy: yeah, this is a special category since it was financial advice. but i tend to to agree with the panel. if you're going to invest money and when you're investing you are risking money, get your advice from someone who actually knows what they're talking about. [laughter] that, my friends, is called personal responsibility. i don't know. i think that -- okay, i just have one last question for you, karol. do you think she broke up with pete davidson? he says that she broke up with her. homes. joining me now, breaking news, maestro extraordinaire and the new anchor of "fox news at night," midnight eastern, 9 p.m. in the west on the fox news channel, trace gallagher, representing! well done. i'm so proud of you, this is amazing. >> kennedy, that was a very nice intro. thank you. very kind words, and i appreciate it. we're very excited to start the show. shannon bream has given us the baton, an enviable position, and our job is to pick it up and take it across the finish line in that same position or even better. so i very much appreciate you bringing me on and giving me that nice welcome. kennedy: well, you are amazing, you are so hard working, and you have seen so many events like this. how did hurricane ian rank in terms of what you have coveredded over the years? >> well, you know, i was looking at the pictures the day after, kennedy, and i told a bunch of people that i had never seen anything that bad. we covered hurricane katrina, and you talk about dollar loss, and that was about $105 billion in today's dollars, 2005, that

was $105 billion. today's dollars it would be $190 billion. but you look at the pictures of florida, you look at the pictures of fort myers beach, and i had never seen anything like that on such a wide scale. i mean, they had helicopters up, and the helicopters, you can see right now went mile after mile, they went inland, they went on the coast, and the stuff that they were feeding back was jaw-dropping. and i can remember living in florida, you know, several years ago and covering these kinds of hurricanes, and the day after going out and looking at buildings that were destroyed and saying, wow, this is power of mother nature. but when you look at this and you look at what a cat four, very close to the cat five hurricane will do -- and it doesn't matter about building codes, kennedy, because when you're facing 10, 11, 12-foot storm surge and you look at those pictures, there is no building, there is no code, nothing you can do to prevent this kind of catastrophic damage

from that kind of weather impact. kennedy: yes. especially when hurricane turns and slows down as it did. no one was talking about lee county on tuesday or wednesday morning. >> no, no, and that's the whole point. the whole point of this is that even the national hurricane center, like, this whole thing, i have family in tampa, they were bracing. everybody was bracing for a hit very chose or just south of tampa. and lee county and sarasota county, they were sitting there, lightening, wow, i feel bad for those people up in hillsborough county, you know? it's one of those things where things just jog. a little bit of wind, they weren't sure of the wind sheer, was it going to cut the top off, bring down the power of this thing, or was it going to steer it in a different direction, and it ended up steering it in a different direction. it is, you know, the way things are when you're talking about hurricanes. and yet, like everything else, it's pretty politicize -- politicized because it wasn't
