president biden attacked republicans accusing them of threatening democracy. roll the tape. >> there's a lot of stake in the midterm elections. from our economy to safety of our streets to personal freedoms and future of healthcare and social security, medicare, it's all important. there's something else at stake, democracy itself. american democracy is under attack because the defeated former president of the united states refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. ashley: david, what do you think of the president's speech last night saying the republicans are a threat to democracy? >> the president decided, ashley, to have an argument with voters, not a conversation. we wants to argue with them about what this election is about. and leading an organization like gopac that thanksgiving will pun
11:04 am
across the country to elect a president. you should get into an argument with voters which is exactly what president biden is doing. it's interesting, ashley, where he chose to give that speech in washington dc. it follow where is his travels are. he's been to new mexico, he's been to california of all places and traditionally solid democrats. he's not in new hampshire helping maggie hassen. he wasn't in arizona helping mark kelly. no, the president is now having an argument with voters and doing it in states that they shouldn't have to be campaigning in at this point in the election. ashley: kevin mccarthy sharing midterm outlook with fox news digital and says "republicans have a plan that will put america in a new direction. one that will make the economy strong to tackle inflation and make it energy independent so you can fill up your gas tank and still have money left over.
11:05 am
you know where your hard earned tax dollars are being spent and we'll eliminate the waste. mccarthy sounds pretty confident to me and republican cans retake the house. do you share that optimism? >> absolutely. kevin is ultimately saying we are going to govern in the house as we were elected. that's to focus obstructing cerumen those issues that -- on those issues that will help bring down inflation and make life more affordable for americans. everything from getting government spending under control to looking at where can we put more dollars in taxpayer's pockets. and equally important, what can we do at the federal level, mccarthy talking about making it safe for americans to go out and spend that money that they are earning and to enjoy life, which crime is up there right now with the cost of living for most americans.
11:06 am
ashley: right. i want to talk about the senate. argue pennsylvania, nevada, georgia, these could be the hinge on the future of makeup of this senate. what's your take? >> keep an eye on the town of bedford in new hampshire, ashley. it is a traditionally republican or has in the last few years been very republican town. the most republican town in fact. the last few cycles democrats have made great gains. if bolda comes out with a win or big win, he'll be well on his way to victory and he wins, you'll see a 52, 53 seat at least majority for republicans in the senate. ashley: very interesting. time will wait, david avela. thank you very much. good stuff. take a look at big tech name ifs we can. i'm joined now by gary now. gary, great to see you and take a look at tech in particular. apple, amazon, meta/facebook, they're all down.
11:07 am
apple down 3%. do you see the names going even lower? >> unfortunately, yes, and i think some of these names of the intels and sysco os of -- ci sco's of 99 and in the case of facebook, they're losing. simple as that. tiktok takes over and not doing as well and try to change the meta and losing tons of money on it, and now you're seeing google because of advertising and we used to own all of this. we don't known any of it right now. unfortunately on a daily basis, we're seeing institutions getting rid of it because they own so much of it. ashley: i'm throwing gasoline on the fire, gary, but i have to mention the fed, the market is sea sawing every time we get economic data or strong data that's bad because the fed will be more inclined to continue aggressively raising rates. if it's terrible, then there's
11:08 am
the theory that the fed may ease off a little bit. what's your take on this situation we find ourselves in? >> there may be a moment where it's bad news for markets and i've been saying there's too much of them, you know, everybody waiting with baited breath on one man and his whims on where to move things around. yesterday people are saying, did he say if or did he say of? we just got to get away from that. the economy is bigger than him, the markets are bigger than him but he played god with him for so long and this is the other side of them, here's the worry, guess what for the next six weeks they'll be yapping away every day and i would just wish they would back off, let the markets be. business seems to be in decent shape, no great shape but decent shape. people are getting on a morning trend and families and we're
11:09 am
getting great inventions in technology and medicine and other things and if they'd leave me alone, i think we'd be okay down the road. they interfere too much and it's a shame. ashley: these rate hikes take awhile to work their way through the system. do you think by middle of next week we could be looking at a recession? >> we had one up quarter and, yeah, look, at best i think we're going to have some serious head winds going forward. remember, everything was based off of zero percent interest rates and massive prints here and around the globe and they're getting used to that and that's the head wind. do you think there's a chance i'm keeping fingers crossed and doesn't get worse? i'm watching two things and number one and if that goes deeply south, lookout because that worsens the reverse wealth effect, which we're seeing in bonds and stocks right now.
11:10 am
ashley: you say tech is going lower. what are you buying? what is attractive in this environment? >> i can tell you, oils act well, the manage care stocks and hmos act well. defense stocks act well and this is a smattering of good things out there and every person, every day right now in a week or more and see what's sitting there and they're usually there for a reason. and rolling better than everything else out there and doing something right and don't be afraid of the high and if you get a double, triple, quadruple or tenth fold, that list must be hit. we're all over that and those are the areas showing the relative strength and we'll see if it lasts. yesterday they get hit and why reverse a thousand points. ashley: yeah, still a lot of cashing on the sidelines and it'll probably stay that way. >> i think greed fears -- feeds
11:11 am
