explain to the american public that hunter biden is at the very least a political liability for his dad, but potentially a national security risk for his dad and for the rest of the united states of america? i want those 51 intelligence officials to at least acknowledge that in the letter part two with, perhaps. kennedy: yeah. if you're spying on all americans, did you keep tabs on hunter biden? leslie, when he was manufacturing some of these very questionable relationships in ukraine energy and with china? supposedly. and the e-mails betrayed the truth. he was making money for his dad, and he was having some of those high-powered meetings while his dad was vice president. and, you know, it's like you can't have it both ways. you can't have, ah, gosh, you know, my son is a crack addict, and he's out of his mind. and then at the same time have that crack addict enrich himself to the tune of millions and millions of dollars. so shouldn't we have the answers

to some of those questions, leslie? >> i think we should have the answer to everybody's questions. we can't have it both ways when vanning what trump makes -- can ivanka trump makes millions on her daddy's president, you can't say this kid is guilty and this kid is not. investigate all of them. i don't want to seed admitted information. put -- edited information. full transparency, let's get the entire story. but my prediction is that it's going to end up after the 18 bipartisan benghazi hearings and we didn't see hillary going away in an orange suit, and i don't think we're going to see joe biden doing that and, honestly, i don't think we're going to see hunter in one either. kennedy: it's laughable to feign outrage over men benghazi hearings given what democrats have been doing with the january 6th hearings. so, no, you don't want it both i ways. but what we should have is some accountability here, robby:

>> absolutely. and libertarians like you and i, kennedy, get to take our victory lap, and conservatives should pay more attention because we have been warning that national security will be weaponized against ordinary american, by the way, and everybody else. we've been warning about that for years and years and years, that they have their own agenda, the state, fbi, dhs, etc. and they have been trying to police the narrative to summit what is allowed -- sculpt what is allowed to be on social media. there's far too much attention to what the social media companies themselves have done -- it's not good, don't get me wrong, but they're doing it at the behest of, frankly, ordering of law enforcement officials who got things wrong about weapons of mass destruction and every foreign policy question for the last 20 years these people got wrong. and they're still, they are indirectly in charge of what you get to say online. that is wrong, that is criminal, and that is a legitimate source of inquiry for the new republican majority in the house.

kennedy: yeah. and i wish more news outlets would pay attention to that, pay attention to the pact that -- and, you know, leslie, you don't want it both ways, you don't want a republican president with the head of the cia and the fbi telling giant tech companies what people who subscribe to their services and cannot say. but that's exactly what was happening. it's not a yawn. this is a bug deal -- big deal, and, you know, twitter was, it was a massive abuse of power not just, you know, the millions of people who use their site, but the fact that they were meeting with dhs, fbi and the cia on a regular basis. now meanwhile, a political bombshell threatening the democrats' razor thin senate majority. arizona senator key stint sinemd of nutty -- announcing she's leaving the democrat party to become an independent. many lefties, obviously, very

furious, but she had some news for the haters. >> i know some people might be a little bit surprised by this, but actually i think it makes a lot of sense. what i think is important about this decision and this move is that i'll be able to show up to work every today as an independent and not be, you know, stuck into one party's demands of following without thinking. kennedy: still unclear which party the senator will caucus with. but according to analysis by 538, sinema has voted with biden 93% of the time. her other two independent counterparts in the senate -- angus king and bernie sanders -- they also caucus with democrats. what impact will the move have on the democrats' agenda? this has to be a breath of fresh air for her and an incredibly powerful position for her, gary. >> yeah. it used to be that she was just

going to be the another democrat unlike what she had done with joe manchin in the previous congress. she kind of vaults herself back into that area. this is a couple of big things that a will result from this, more chunky glasses and bare shoulders on the senate floor to please you, kennedy. but also there's going on a huge shake-up when it comes to the amount of political reflection, the idea that the leaders of both political parties look at and say, wait a minute, there are members in our caucus that don't necessarily stand for 100% of what we believe in, maybe we need to be more inclusive. i think that's a great benefit of this, is that there's a possibility that both republicans and democrats in the congressional leadership take a pause and say, wait a minute, there is, there is something afoot here. perhaps 50% of americans believe that there are the not enough moderates many either the republican or democrat party. there's a great unwashed middle, if you want to call it that,

that is just sick and tired of politics, and maybe this is an indication. kennedy: well, certainly they're sick of parties, leslie, and they are sick of the party games. i i talk to a lot of people on this show who are independents. i am an unaffiliated voter. i do not belong to a political party because i am disgusted by the two-party system. should democrats worry that joe manchin might follow suit and might follow her away if democrats? >> no, because it doesn't matter about the label, it matters when you talk about the agenda, the democratic agenda or anybody's agenda. it matters how somebody votes. and like you said, sinema voted 93% with president biden. joe man chip's been -- joe man chip's been acting more like a republican than a democrat for years. who should be concerned about this is sinema. and the reason she should is, one, the people of arizona elected her as one of the two representatives as the senator of their state as a democrat and, two, this makes it harder

for her when she is up for re-election to win next i'm around. she's certainly not going to get checks prosecute democrats, independents don't have the the bankroll. kennedy: i couldn't disagree with you more, leslie. i think arizonans look at this and go, finally -- >> of course you do. [laughter] you always do. kennedy: and they like the fact that she stands up to the party establishment. she will not be bullied. she takes their needs into consideration above the party line. and i think that's incredibly popular. you were going to say, robby, go ahead. >> yeah, no, i think she's probably increased her chances of re-election. the reality is she was going to face a primary in the democratic party. now as an independent she can't be primaried, and it almost dares democrats to run a candidate, and then you could have a scenario where they split some kind of nonrepublican vote and a republican wins. i think they'll be afraid of that. i think she's daring democrats to stand down. i think that's the politics of it. for the broader philosophical

point, yeah, you nailed it kennedy. it's great to see more it agains even if she's most -- independents even if she's mostly going to vote with biden. so many americans are just sick of the party politics and don't feel well represented by either party, so it's just nice to see that i even if it doesn't change votes at the end of the day. what can i say, i like a woman in glasses. kennedy: robby, you are singing my song, young man. astrophysicist at the american museum of natural history, he's the author of " cosmic perspectives on civilization," a phenomenal book, a wonderful man. neil degrasse tyson return. >> thanks for having me back. kennedy: we did a wonderful podcast about your book -- >> yes, we did. kennedy: -- and you illuminated some of of the more interesting aspects of your life, your culture and your view from a global, galactic perspective. >> cosmic perspective. kennedy: absolutely right. now we may be able to harness the power of at least our star. so what does this fusion discovery mean for. >> people when they think of nuclear energy, they think of nuclear fission which was the energy source in the two bombs used in the second world war. very quickly after that we magnified the energy of those bombs by creating a whole other kind of bomb which came to be known as hydrogen bombs. hydrogen bombs don't have the

radioactive baggage that fission bombs do. hydrogeneral bombs are -- fission, you take a big atom, break it, and you weigh those two atoms, and they weigh less than what you started with. where did the mass go? e equals mc squared, the mass went to energy. you can do the same thing coming from the other direction. you take a light atom, hydrogen, fuse it with another hydrogen atom, and you get helium, and your product has a less mass than you started with. once again you get energy, but you don't have all the by-products. we made fusion for 60 years. the problem was we don't have controlled fusion, and we don't have control fusion, it's called a bomb. but when you control it, then you can throttle it, you can valve it, you can put it where you need to and how you want to use it. and so right at this moment i don't think people know for sure what the announcement will be, but if the secretary of energy is giving a press conference, everyone i think is thinking that we finally can get out more

energy hand we put in, and that is -- kennedy: and that has been the key. >> that's been the key. of. kennedy: we've been trying for decades -- >> it's been the holy grail. and i thought we would have reached that in the '80s, and then we didn't. maybe it's because peace broke out in europe, and people took less interest -- kennedy: and is we had a different type of nuclear energy for quite some time. >> that's right. but there were physics labs still working on this. here's the problem, in order to have fusion, you need very hot plasma, so hot that it can't touch anything that a might contain it. if i give you plasma and put it in a suitcase, the suitcase would vaporize. so one of the great problems is the containment of such high temperature gas. and because the gas is like iodine which means there are free electrons moving around, you can contain it in a mag innocentic vessel -- mag innocentic vessel -- magnetic. it tries to escape, but it can't because it's the charged and it repels the magnetic field.

these are the challenges physicists faced for decades. kennedy: all right. let's say we have overcome some of those challenges and finally created, when do we get fusion stations who? now it's up to the engineers. kennedy: okay. >> once we get the physics figured out, which it seems like we have, then the ending flares say, can i make that -- engineers say can i make that smaller? would it fit in a car? is it only the size that might fit a city? so this would be transform i to civilization -- transformative to civilization. and i see it akin to the transition from horses to automobiles. kennedy: yes. >> which happened in a matter of a couple of years because we got the physics figured out for an internal combustion engine. and when that happened, you couldn't give away a horse, yet we were riding houses for thousands of years building

civilization literally and figuratively on its back. so my analogy to that is we've been digging fossil fuels out of the ground for 150 years. kennedy: how long will it take to heal the planet from any if harm that we have done to ourselves? >> yeah. because, here we are -- kennedy: carbon emissions. >> harming a planet that itself was trying to sustain us. that's not -- by doing that, you've sown the seeds of your own extinction. and so, well, the planet will heal slowly, a lot of the carbon is in the oceans, so if you start dropping the carbon -- can stop dropping the carren bonnes in the atmosphere, it'll take time, but now is better than any time later than now so, oh, yeah, i'm giddy. kennedy: i can't wait. >> it's a pivot, it's a pivot in civilization. kennedy: i'm sick of all these gassy dictators running things

kennedy: elon musk once again blowing the whistle on his own company. he's blowing his own whistle, people, you heard it hear first. employees bending over backwards to ban president trump from the platform even though many agreed he had not violated the rules. staffers suppressed conservative accounts in a number of ways. musk seems furious. he tweeted this weekend, quote: twitter is both a social media company and a crime scene. house republicans say they're ready to roll out the red carpet for musk to testify on what's going on there, but how far down this rabbit hole will the story go? joining me now to discuss independent journalist andy kno. andy, welcome back to the show. >> thanks for having me on. kennedy: so we've learned a lot about, you know, i alluded to to it a little earlier in the show, principal agencies work --

federal agencies working with executives at twitter to silence speech and, you know, help them figure out which accounts to shadow ban and which to amplify. >> i think what's really disturbing is in the name of so-called protecting democracy or fighting misinformation and disinformation that twitter, under the prior regime, was acting as if it was a hourtarian, tyrannical government -- authoritarian, tyrannical government. and we see how there were many rules where even when rules were not broken by various users and accounts, the people who were behind the decision making found a way to, nonetheless, either silence or suppress certain topics from being discussed or to silence accounts. and that's what you would see in statements where there are no rules of -- states where there are no rules or laws. they find the crime, they find the sin even if, even if an

individual has broken no law. kennedy: yes. and even though they had numerous rules and it would take a lot of time to go over their terms of service, they still seemed to be making things up as they went along. because if there weren't clear violations, they would find ways, as you were saying, to impose sanctions on a violation looking for a, looking for an outlet. so you were banned in 019 -- 2019. did they ever let you know why you were banned or how long it was going to take for you to get reinstated by twitter? >> so twitter's, under the prior regime -- and i think some of these rules are actually sill in place currently. but, basically, truth telling depending on what it was could actually lead one to get suspended. so, for example, if you misgenderred somebody, you could get, you were portioned to delete that tweet in order to

come back on. if you so-called deadening someone, and in the case of me, for example, in my reporting i always report prior legal names or known aliases of criminal suspects. and many at least the one incident, that had been found to be violation of the so-called dead naming of a trans person. you can actually state an empirical truth or a statement of fact and still be found to be in violation of tos previously. and one thing that i want to say is that i think sensible people agree there needs to be content moderation are. i'm not a arguing for a complete free for all. however, for content moderation to be legitimate, it -- the rules have to be clear, and it has to, most importantly, be applied equally. and what i've seen in my

reporting is that behind the scenes when there was all this emphasis on suppressing or censoring conservative or right-wing accounts or ideas, there was all this looking away when far-left, violent extremist accounts and particularly antifa which is what i report on use twitter as part of its ecosystem to organize riots, promote riots, tell people what weapons to bring -- can. kennedy: threaten your life. >> -- avoid arrest. and increasingly if already arrests, raising money through sharing links and accounts on twitter. kennedy: and the vice president of the united states, happy to help bail you out. was expected to testify tomorrow. now i'm going to be most interested to see what john ray iii has to say. he took over as ceo to help drive this thing down into something of a soft landing. in a statement that he put out today, he said there was clear -- i hi the word he used was hijinks, the spending that finishing tx went on for billions and billions of dollars buying up properties and businesses and things that ended up being worth, you know, fractions of what they were paid for. i think the best news about all of this, kennedy, is that maybe, maybe this will finally give us an idea of what happened to henry potter at the end of "it's a wonderful life" when he never got, was never held accountable for stealing the baileys' $8,000. kennedy: how dare he. in today's money, that would be 800 million thousand dollars. this guy. he was beloved. the adjectives they used to describe him in interviews is incredible. and then you find out that he was a prolific donor not just to democratic politicians, but to media companies. he gave money to vox, to propublica, to many others. and i have to wonder if that is part of the reason why they described him in glowing terms. and then even as the crimes were kind of beginning to be revealed in the last few weeks, i still saw him getting kind of soft coverage. there was a wait and see approach even though it was so obvious that what he did -- even though crypto is confusing, what he did doesn't seem confusing, he took money for -- from one thing and spent it on other and then lied to people. it's very straight forward, what a he did. it'll be interesting if it causes more skepticism of crypto. i will note though the regulation of crypto was going to be dictated by him. part of the reason he was giving so much money to democrats is

[laughter] oh, my god. so you have been on the border for years now. >> yeah. kennedy: how much worse is it now than it was when you first started covering some of these? >> i mean, before -- to trump's credit, he had a working relationship with the border patrol, and he were trying to solve the problem. they were going on the offense. so migrants and illegal migrants didn't feel like they could go -- there was a lot of gotaways because people were trying to evade the border patrol. now what you're seeing at the border are migrants that are just turning themselves in. they know all they have to do the is turn themselves in, they'll get their notice to appear, which it's like two years out, and then they get released into the country. and the biden administration is a mag innocent for these individuals -- magnet. there was once this division in the democratic party, but if you look at all of those border

towns that are democrat cities, by the way, who are mostly minority -- hispanic, black folks -- they are anti this. they're, like, get in line. reform the system. but you just can't take over our town. the hotels are full, the border patrol is overworked. and then they have that huge scandal, accusing them of whipping the migrants when they know it's dishonest. we saw the reports and the e-mails going -- kennedy: taking pictures -- >> yeah, a guy was stealing a liddy -- lady's purse. again, this is a real problem for the democrats. i don't think that they are looking at this issue long term. i think they see, look, nationwide we may be able to galvanize some voters. but when you look at those hispanic areas that are pretty conservative, they don't like the democrats on issue. kennedy: no. especially if you talk to people who came to this country like my mom, and they waited in lewin, they went through the process -- in line. i'm not speaking for my mom, but for a lot of people it's unfair

because it takes a lot of time and money and work, and it's very difficult to become a citizen of this country. you have to love this country, you have to want to do it and want to put the work in. and when you've done that and you see people getting in scot-free, it's a little frustrating. and it just goes to show you we do have a broken immigration system. >> we do. and you and i, congress should come together and stop using this as a political football. it's not a binary choice. it's not one of those things that says, you know, until congress fix the issue that we can just storm the border. i mean, and that's what's happening. and all -- kennedy: they're telegraphing. that's what people have internalized. >> exactly. you have so many people that are so compassionate, and i go down to texas -- i'm from there, born and raised -- and it seems like the frustration gets worse and worse. now heir just mad -- they're just mad as hell. and by the way, when are we going to start talking about the criminal enterprise?
