they are under oath, but no, no, no, so i find that kind of curious, kind of interesting, but yeah, this is just a good old fashion scam and he needs to be held accountable for sure. stuart: got it. now, congressman, a number of prominent republicans, yourself included i believe, saw a big boost in your twitter following after elon musk took over. i think your following went up what 300,000 something like that and that be proof that twitter was indeed shadow banning conservatives right? >> well of course they were. we all knew this . in fact we caught them four years ago in the height of the musculoskeletaller investigation, there were four members of congress, who were shadow banned back in 2018 and of course, we found out about it , we raised concerns and at the time twitter said well, no, it was just a glitch in their algorithm to which of course i replied what was in the algorithm? the names, give me a break, so of course, we knew they were doing this. now we got proof. god bless elon musk for pointing this out, but i think the big takeaway, stuart,

is how this looks now more and more like it was really a disinformation operation by our government. remember, they were telling big tech the fbi was telling big tech be on the look out for russian disinformation operations. those 51 intel officials said it's a russian disinformation operation but really what it looks like it was a disinformation operation coming from our government, which is frightening. they were at weekly meeting with these big tech folks and used that to suppress this story. that is scary because it happened as we all know just days before the hunter biden story just days before the most important election we have, so that's why it's important we get to the bottom of all of this , because we never want this to happen again. stuart: whenever we get jim jordan on the program, we like to cover as much ground as possible so let me throw another one at you. you're looking into the origins of covid. do you believe covid started in a wuhan lab? >> totally. you know, they want us to believe it was a bat, to joe rogan and then 6 million people

rate hike today. are they done after this one? >> no, stuart. i think it's wishful thinking to think the fed is going to pause when we're still at a 7% inflationary rate, and they've been crystal clear they are going to continue to tighten and the markets already priced in that tightening is going to slowdown. the biggest thing i want to hear today which is more important than the rate hikes is the balance sheet roll off. are they going to continue $90 billion a month or at least try to do that? that's a lot more damaging for next year than rate hikes, and lastly, i've been hearing this narrative of you should buy stocks because the fed is going to cut rates next year. let me be crystal clear, and forgive me for going against this so harshly. that's a ridiculous comment to make because the fed only cuts rates when the economy and markets crash, so if you think the feds cutting rates next year , basically you're telling investors they should be playing defense because things are going to be very ugly next year. stuart: i want to know how much you are back in the markets

because you're famous for one year ago saying "get out of the market and stay out." i want to know how much you are back in now. if at all. >> so our tactical strategy has well-over 80% cash in it and we're going to keep it at a very high level going into next year and here is why. here is the setup. we just follow the data. we have never, in history, seen a fed tighten monetary policy and liquidity at the pace that we've seen this year. it's unprecedented. and most of what they've done has not even, we haven't seen the effects of it yet. we're going to see the effects of it next year and a major red flag that i saw this past week or last week was blackstone starting to limit redemptions on some of the private investments for $120 billion fund. liquidity is drying up and investors are going to learn the hard way if they are fully invested what happens when liquidity dries up because if the private market dries up, there's only one other market to go to raise liquidity.

debris was scattered on the ground below. residents were side-by-side with investigators many trying to begin the process of fixing shattered windows and freezing temperatures, but also, stuart, take a look at what else we found. here you see fragments of that iranian drone or one of the 13 that were shot down this morning some damage here in the city of kyiv, right here behind me you see a government building that has sustained major damage. you see the corner of it, its been completely taken out. windows have been blown out as crews are now assessing the damage inside and we also have crews here removing debris from high up in these trees as a result of this mornings air strike. also, four apartment complexes here in the city of kyiv sustained damage. stuart, i spoke with one man who was awoke en by that strike this morning, and i asked him if he fears for his life and he told me that he doesn't anymore

because this has now happened to him three times. he said the first time he was scared and unfortunately, its now become normal so i think that's some good perspective but there is more hope here in ukraine as yesterday it was announced that the united states is close to sending the patriot missile defense system to ukraine, which would dramatically improve ukraine's ability to protect itself from these strikes. right now in kyiv about 40% of people are living without electricity during the day, so these people need all the help they can get. we'll send it back to you. stuart: thanks very much nate in kyiv right there. now let me talk more about this possible delivery of the patriot missile system to ukraine. former secretary of state mike pompeo joins me. mr. secretary, is the patriot missile system a game changer? >> well good morning, stuart. it's really important. it's important that we allow the ukrainians to defend themselves from these attacks on their civilian infrastructure. remember this is a defensive weapon system designed to take

out short ritualistic missiles, incoming aircraft drones, kind of like the ones that your reporter was speaking out. we should have provided this system to them a long time ago. we would have saved an enormous amount of ukrainian lives but just as importantly, stuart, we would have ended this war more quickly to the extent vladimir putin believes he can inflict enormous pain on the civilian infrastructure in ukraine he's going to continue to fight. this tool will convince vladimir putin that we are prepared to help the ukrainians defend themselves and allow them to defend themselves and bring this war to a much more hasty conclusion than if we didn't provide this system. stuart: what else should we send them? >> oh, goodness. you know, i don't know precisely the needs of the ukrainian military but to the extent we can provide them the tools that protect their civilian infrastructure, protect civilians, give them the capacity to defend their major cities through this what will be an incredibly difficult winter. we ought to do that, but stuart, we ought not to lose sight of the fact the europeans haven't

done remotely enough. they have weapon systems and tools and financial resources, the germans, french, these are wealthy nations. we should be in their face, demanding that they do more to protect europe. we began this effort because we understood vladimir putin wasn't going to stop just at ukraine, and i believe that is true. his intentions were far deeper. the europeans need to continue to take on this fight, continue to resource this fight, because this is essentially an invasion of europe and the europeans have that responsibility in the first instance. stuart: are the europeans scared are they intimidated here? they are scared of russia? >> well, you know, we should break that down just a little bit. we talk about the europeans as they are just a monolithic or just one. the romaine romanians, the eastern european countries understand this threat. it is much closer to them, and the french and germans have for decades under-invested in the capacity to be an important european defense partner and an important partner in nato:

we tried for four years, stuart to convince the germans and french to under write nato and their own defense. we made some progress but not nearly enough. i think what the invasion that vladimir putin has conducted has demonstrated to them as this risk is real. i hope they will get that message and they will not for tomorrow, not for next month , but for the next years continue to do what it takes to restore and deterrence. that's what we did for four years, stuart. we lost that decimal value deterrence and frankly it will help us get it back. stuart: a quick question if i may on tiktok. a group of lawmakers has unveiled a bill to ban tiktok nationwide. should we do that? a total ban on tiktok? >> give me an amen stuart. i tried to get it done while i was in service in the trump administration. i couldn't. i've also seen governors saying tiktok can't be installed on app s for their government systems. this is a tool of not only

stuart: all right, not much price movement on the market in the early going at least. shah gilani is here to cover it for us. shah, here is a hypothetical. suppose the fed comes across as doveish today. what happens to the market? >> it goes up and i think they will come across as doveish, stuart if they want to engineer a so-called soft landing, now is

the time to not pivot but be more doveish in the rhetoric in terms of the comment and the q & a after the rate announcement which will probably be a 50 basis point hike but i think if they are doveish, the tone is doveish to the comments and to the questions and the way chairman powell answers those , i think the market can go higher we saw yesterday where it would like to go. inflation seems to be trending down. let's hope it continues on that path, and if the fed says yeah, we're almost done, now we're going to have let the lag take its effect, let's see what actually happens in the economy, what the rate hikes have, we've put in will do eventually because they are going to slow things down eventually, and i think that could be very bullish for the markets because they want to go higher. stuart: okay, the other side of the coin. another hypothetical. suppose the fed comes across as hawkish then what happens? big sell-off? >> well, it depends how hawkish they are and i don't think they will be overly hawkish because

even though financial conditions have softened in terms of the market is doing pretty well. it's stable right here, it's trying to go higher, so i don't think they are going to be too hawkish if they are i think the market digests that and said well, we have the hawkish statement supposedly but let's just take a look at what inflation is actually doing. it seems to be trending down. i think they will hang their hats on that and so i think we're at kind of a place right here, stuart where it's probably a good opportunity to pick-up some stocks here that are on sale. stuart: oh, okay. we've not heard that from you recently and we like to hear that today. all good stuff we'll be watching at 2:00 this afternoon of course for the actual result. shah gary cohen, thanks very much, sir, see you again soon. >> [opening bell ringing] stuart: it is now ringing and it's 5-4-3-2-1 trading will begin. again i have to say this look not much price movement is expected this morning because you've got the big rate announcement from the fed coming this afternoon.

wait until he makes that announcement and then you'll see some movement i suspect. okay. all right the big board shows the dow 30 stocks evenly split at the moment. again not that much movement and the s&p 500 has opened and it has opened slightly. that is a fractional gain, folks up .01%. yeah, you're right that's flat isn't it? that's the best way to say it. the nasdaq composite is also down just a tiny tiny fraction. look at big tech please. microsoft up, amazon up, apple up, meta, alphabet down. only alphabet is down now, but again look, there's not that much movement right there. that's just fractional stuff backwards and forwards. now susan is back. delta, do they see a pick-up in travel demand? >> look at the stock up 3.25 so business is booming. sales will jump by a fifth next year. you had adjusted earnings nearly doubling to $6 a share in 2023 and that's way above

analyst estimates. also free cash flow will double by 2024. these are fantastic predictions from the ceo ed bastian himself despite high prices and an economic slowdown. people are still willing to pay more for their airfare and get on those flights, bum on seats as we call it to get ink across atlantic to go visit those wonderful european locations. united yesterday earning that 100 boeing dreamliner order that was the biggest boeing airline plane order in u.s. history. it was 100 for another 100 option as well. stuart: but that's a positive about future travel too. >> absolutely. stuart: you buy 200 planes presumably you think you'll fill them. >> yeah and i think cost is a concern because yesterday, you had united down 7% despite that huge plane order, so they are spending so much they still have to get that pilot agreement as well. oil prices were autopsy at their highest in 14 years, jet fuel costs accounted for about 70% for the airlines. stuart: you've got 76 bucks a barrel right now for crude oil up 1.7%.

now let's talk tesla and let's talk elon musk. >> always. stuart: tesla stock, yeah, everyday you've got to do this everyday. tesla stock hit very hard since twitter's ta lows so down over 60% on the year, on track for your worst year on record. you're looking at your first down year in six, and now the companies worthless than half a trillion dollars for the first time since 2020. now you've had tesla investors getting pretty loud with their complaints that elon musk is distracted. he's distracted spending all his time on twitter when he should be focusing on his trillion dollar electric car company. they are saying higher competent ceo quickly to run twitter which is worth a lot less than tesla and focusing on the problems on tesla instead. musk tweeting that i will make sure that tesla shareholders will benefit from twitter long term. i'm not sure that's necessarily the wall street consensus right now. one analysis from insider intelligence says that twitter will lose more users in the u.s.

than anywhere else so you'll only have 50 million using twitter here in the u.s. in 2024 which is the lowest since 2014. stuart: maybe i should sign up. >> you already are on twitter. you should actually start using it, how about that, actively. stuart: the shows on it. i'm not. >> are you saying you don't necessarily tweet from that account? stuart: no i don't. ever. i wouldn't know how to do it but let's move on. >> very good flaws, yes. stuart: crypto stocks in the green today, largely, why? >> well so we have that fed decision of course where we're expecting a slowing in the rates in the pace of hikes, expected inflation to come down even further and you know the cryptos are no longer an inflation hedge they are pretty much like a nasdaq 100 stock that's traded in the past year and there are concerns right now about ftx contagion and whose next so one bright spot overnight was binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, bigger than seven of its next competitors combined, including ftx at its peak, and we spoke to cz earlier

massive withdrawals at binance the past few days of close to $3 billion because of concerns over their proof of reserves, do they actually have the money in the bank for all that cryptocurrency that's bought and sold on the exchange. cz tweeting things seem to have stabilized. yesterday was not the highest withdrawals that we've processed , not even in the top five so people are less concerned now and probably keeping their money intact. stuart: we always mention elon musk. we always deal with tesla and we always deal with apple. what do you got on apple? >> yesterday you're talking about match group and i was surprised you knew what a dating app was but match group, bumble and spotify they are up over the past 24 hours because apple reportedly allowing outside apps to be installed on the iphone in the future so that means twitter and epic games and fortnite can get around that 30% app store fee commission that they've been loudly complaining about. now, this is just one report. i should note from bloomberg, apple is considering it and

actively in the process of writing the software they say to make it possible in the next ios 17 update but i wouldn't say it's 100%. this is a possibility. we'll see if that happens. as for google they will probably follow whatever apple does and we know that its been easier to side load on android phones than on apple iphone devices. stuart: this side loading wouldn't come until iphone 17? >> ios 17, the software update which is next year. stuart: oh, next year. >> it'll come in next year. stuart: i'm so glad you're here. >> if it happens. again i don't think we should put 100% of our apples in this cart. stuart: okay, it's fed day as you know. let's get back to elon musk here we go. you've got to bring the guy to the picture. what does he want the fed to do? >> he was tweeting something quite interesting so we know the fed is going to slow the pace of rate hikes 50 basis points later on today, possibly less than 5% by next year, which is why we saw the stock market rally yesterday. elon musk says at risk of stating the obvious, beware of

debt and turbulent macroeconomic conditions, especially when the fed keeps raising rates. i mean, this is pretty obvious and you know, he's loaded up with debt especially in that twitter acquisition of 12- $13 billion, but you've heard charlie monger, you always stare at me, so he said you know what kills a successful person? liquor, ladies, leverage. we kind of know that. this is probably the last news flow we'll get that's market- moving until the end of this year. stuart: you think that's my life story? >> i didn't say that i'm just saying that's what charlie monger says. stuart: do you know what i'm waiting for? >> at 2:00 p.m. will you be watching the fed decision or france versus morocco? stuart: france versus morocco of course. and what i really want is elon musk prediction for the world cup. >> really? stuart: yes i want to hear. if he's watching the show, elon, please tweet your opinion. >> morocco or france at 2:00 p.m. today whose going to win? stuart: oh, france i think.
