the two major viruses circulating right now, those numbers are starting to go down. we're seeing decrease numbers of hospitalizations. covid numbers are way down this year compared to last this time of year. people don't hoard the medications. there are children, who are adults need medications. they need to have access to medications. please don't go out to buy the medications because you're afraid of it. the majority of people with flu and rsv can be managed at home with hydration and cooling baths and popsicles please again, really urge people don't hoard the medications unless you truly need them. >> you make a good point about the supply chain. a lot of elements, the chemicals in our drugs come from china and china has been up and down in lockdowns, right? when you see, what would you tell, we hear your advice there about what not to do but you know, if a parent has a child and looking like the child is getting sick, we know that amazon prohibit the sellers from you know, price gouging but one

website we're seeing a two-pack of children's tylenol for $35. typically it is $8 a box. a box of infantile noll, jaw-dropping 238 bucks. that is $238 more than the typical price. parents are tout there scared when they see stories like this. what do you tell them? >> absolutely. price gouging is disgusting and those people should be head accountable for it. the united states we're at forefront for developing new medications. our achilles' heel we depend on other countries to manufacture a third of the generics. because china did things wong the last few years we will see supply chain shortages. what i tell parents, it is important to talk to pediatricians. often times they have samples. if you have a child at home with fever. you know your child better than anyone else if they're not keeping fluids down, having

difficulty breathing they probably need to go to the hospital. if they have a low grade fever, otherwise mild flu symptoms you can have comfort care at home. stay in communication with your pediatrician that is the best advice i can offer. i tell you if you happen to see one bottle of tylenol or bun bottle of motrin's children, don't supplement the adult for your kids. never a good idea. consider buying it. i have at least one at home just in case. elizabeth: got it. dr. sapphire. jackie: thanks for joining us. this story, we're hearing it from california, all the border states, texas and beyond, border around health officials say the white house is not caring about u.s. citizens and border states as biden has collapsed the border. dr. marc siegel next up to talk about his op-ed that talks much about this. the doctor is ahead on d "the evening edit"oc. without another pill upsetting my stomach, i get powerful, effective and safe relief. salonpas. it's good medicine.

corridors here. we have seen people arrested for both here this week, owner of this auto repair shop said that high-speed chases have ended here. and he has got migrants vandalizing his property and sleeping in customer's cars. >> i'm fearful what will happen at nighttime. when we go to bed. law enforcement is over taxed. they are spending so much time trying to keep the corridors safe, keep the highways stay. repo officials tells us that large group of migrants, tie up border patrol there. allowing the cartel to smuggle across the border in these areas. another update here. the biden administration has successfully blocked governor doug doocy's attempt to prevent illegal drugs and migrants from crossing the border agreeing

to stop building the makeshift wall out of shipping containers, biden administration had sued the state of arizona claiming that the state was trespassing on federal land and harming the environment. elizabeth: joining us now dr. marc siegel. you wrote an op-ed, what is your take? your motivation is to prediction public -- protect public health of u.s. citizencitizen migrants and government workers. >> i don't think this is a debate. there is a public health matter. title 42 traces back to public health services act from 1944, that gives director of cdc the right to suspend entry of individuals into u.s. to protect public health. guess what? biden administration extended the pandemic. they said it is still going

on. still a public meet merge, right. >> there goes title 42, when robert redfield brought this in place, he named the flu as one of the reasons not just covid. and the detention centers were overrun. with people back then, they still are. 10 to 20 times more people than the dede decent -- decent cs can handle. you have rsv and flu and covid. all of this in close quarters spreads easily, you have dehydrated people, people that can get sec from water, injured people, and hospitals will get to overwhelmed. i talked with a physician, he said everyone is worried in texas, you heard from texas. texas is worried about the

numbers. >> what are you most worried about? what is your chief concern? >> is the custom and border protection agents, they are not up to this degree of onslaught of sick people and the hospitals are not either, i think it will be a disaster from people getting sick and spreading it in local communities. there is the issue of illegal immigration itself, but from a public health point of view, it is huge. elizabeth: dr. marc siegel, good to see you. >> i am elizabeth macdonald, you have been watching "the evening edit," join us tomorrow night and merry christmas and happy holidays. kennedy: he ho, ho, hey, welcome to special opened so episode of best hour of our sleigh. some the best moments of the year wrapped
