university of idaho students now set to head back to idaho to face the music. his attorney says, cops have the wrong guy. how did the police catch him? what happens next? this afternoon bryan kohberger was in a pennsylvania courtroom. he waived his right to an extr extradition hearing. >> i believe that one of the main reasons that he chose to waive extradition and hurry his return to idaho, to need to know what was in those documents. that is a significant development. >> he wants to know what they know. as you know bryan kohberger is accused of heinous crimes. it was worst crime scene they have seen, there is

to take pictures. it is such a high profile case. the suspect's family was sitting in front row trying to show support. this is him leaving the courthouse today in shackles. here in pennsylvania. walking out, trying to dong questions after -- d dodge questions, his lawyer says his client is confident he will be exonerated. 28-year-old will be brought to idaho by authorities, he faces 4 counts of first-degree murder for stabbing 4 university of idaho students to death in november. the sketch shows bryan kohberger in front of the judge, standing by his side. >> arrangements made to deliver kohberger to idaho too have continued due process and face the charges. reporter: sources say accused killer thought he committed the perfect crime, but the dna evidence helped

police track him down, sources tell fox news detectives matched dna at the crime scene from one of his relatives that was submitted to a genealogy web site, on the way back. he was stopped by police twice, a suspect driving that white car and his dad in the passenger seat. in pennsylvania, as soon as bryan kohberger gets back to moscow. that is when we'll learn more details about how police tracked him down. kennedy: you have broken a lot of news in this case. you have the opportunity to speak with the coroner. this is one of those aspects people were not asking the right questions, but you did, what did you ask about dna collection. reporter: i asked a few weeks ago if the victim's

hands were bagged before bodies removed, that was vital in this case. if they didn't bag the hands they could have lost that vital dnas every under the girl's fingernails, we were told they fought back hard, that a piece of that case that sources say led to this arrest. important thing about genealogy, that is how police tracked him down. kennedy: i figured it had to be one of his parents to have at least 50% certainty it is his dna. we also heard reports he was tracked on his phone it pinged in the same location as some of the victims, have you heard any other confirmation. reporter: i asked my sources in idaho about that, if he stalked them, he said they are look into that but steered me away, they believe he thought he would commit the perfect crime and scoped out the house, not so much about the people inside

access to a lot of the evidence that we have only glimpsed. how much will be in that affidavit? so many people are anxious to read? >> you know, i want to make sure we understand. bare minimum will be in the affidavit, we will not get a lot but enough to deal with probable cause. how they came upon him, why they believe they have the right proper suspect, kennedy. kennedy: will we have a timeline? team are curious how long bryan kohberger has been on the moscow police, and fbi radar. you know we heard that it was his white hyundai that tipped them off. when they started -- because there are something like 90 white hyundai elantras that met the description that

police released. i am o curious about the time line when moscow police and fi fbi started to zero in on him, how far back to you think that goes? a week or so or have they been sitting on this for longer? reporter: no, network i think it is last week or so they zeroed in on this guy. i think it was as a result of the dna test. but you know, kennedy, think about it, what is troubling to me, is the father, unless you lived under a rock, everyone knew about this white car in this area. that father had to have known his son had a white car in this area. and so, at -- that is troubling to me. kennedy: it is troubling to me too. i'm also amazed at the lengths that people go to, to convince themselves of a family member's innocence,

almost like it is built into us to protect family members, it is a self-protection mechanism, i would not know surprised if -- would not be surprised if they were just kind of joking about it maybe in the dad's mind this guy is on side of cops he is a criminology student, he stewse studies this stuff, now from outside looking in, a sociopath who was learning how to be a better criminal in a criminology department. what happened first? was this person, sick in the head for a long time and landed in criminology, sort of like ted bundy. or was being in this neighborhood, something that set him off? by neighborhood i mean studying criminology. >> you are right, i have looked at the guy as best i could, seemed he thought maybe he could commit what is the perfect crime.

i have always said there is no such thing as a per perfect crime, as a result, dna and overwhelming evidence that law enforcement gathered has lead to his capture, i believe possibly his success for prosecution. kennedy: we'll see, how long could this take for a case like this to commence? a year? or over a year, what do you think? >> kennedy, defense have a right to ask for a speedy trial, i think they will waive that right for a speedy trial, they want this to stretch out long, the jury pool will come from this community, they would like the jury pool to forget about somewhat what happened here. kennedy: if any of victim's family has a say, that will not happen. this community has been rocked to its core, they

kennedy: a terrifying moment on the field last night, buffalo bills safely damar hamlin still in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest during the game, medics had to restart his heart mid fields. he was taken to a very good hospital. he was intubated and sedated. nfl said that game would not be resumed this week, and league has been in regular contact with damar hamlin's doctors and family, what happened on the field? how is hamlin, how can we keep others safe.

joining me now to discuss, board certified cardiologist, host of the good dr. tv, dr. dave montgomery is here. i heard a couple things today it might be something called commotio cordis, where when the shift is i'm -- chest is impacted, if it is in between two heart beats it can stop the heart, what do you think? >> there are two possibilities just taking the baton from that one, commotio cordis. there has to be enough of a direct impact to the heart. at the very wrong time. there is a period this is sensitive. when heart is getting signal to contract and relax. if you get hit at that time, we see it in hockey for example or softball or baseball the ball hits

directly on the heart. it causes a chaotic heart rrig rhythm. that is one possibility. i look at this, frame by frame, over and over. everyone says, the hit departmdidn't look too bad, if you see angle shown the helmet comes up and into the c chin area, one possibility he did sustain a chin blow that caused a tra traumatic brain injury, if severe enough can lead to traumatic cardiac arrest. you don't have to have something directly going on with the heart, it can happen to the brain. remember what he did.

kennedy: he adjusted his helmet. >> there you go, right on the head. he grabbed his helmet, if you get hit in the chest it hurt, you don't grab your helmet, then he went down, we've seen that in nfl with a brain injury. this is speculation. i think that respect is due to his family, we should say this is speculation, we just want to know what happened so it won't happen again. if we take it that way, we i tbring everything together, they are two distinct. kennedy: if he had some undiagnosed cardiac injury from a covid booster, could that have made him more susceptible, a lot of people are speculating about that, many who experienced that kind of a vaccine injury are young men and often times athletes. what would you say about

that? >> i think you hit an important point. the category that falls under is we don't know his medical history, period. i'll leave the covid booster part aside. you could have cardiac history and have no symptoms until something like this. what is left is a third possibility, he had a preexisting condition, something genetic, we know these commonly, an electrical heart rhythm or thickness of the heart problem, a defect in gene causing heart to get larger, there are a number of other things in medical history that can cause cardiac arrest in a perfect storm like this. we should wait until the information is back, we don't even know if he had a covid booster, we should wait until we get information back and give the family that respect. and give him that respect.

and thin, talk about you know for example if it was preventible. kennedy: whatever the case may be, i hope there are people, young men and athletes who look at this, say, okay, you know here is a guy, just a couple years out of college, very young, maybe i should get a cardiac work out, this is my family history, or rethink some of the choices that i make and talk to my doctor very specifically, so this does not ha happen. this is not tigh totaly uncommon in athletes, krigger i -- he had an icd in implanted cardio defibrillator. he is good to go, go see the doctor, he will give you a full cardiac work out.

>> you make a great point. everyone should get a cardiac screen, we talk about it in february in heart month, heart disease is number one killer. let me make sure, we can take from this, were i believe if you are 40 and older you should get a heart screen. i think if you are an athlete whether playing at collegiate level or at professional level, the amateur level, i think you should get a heart screen. i know there are different recommendations, the colleges and guide lines are different. but i think it is worth it, so things like this won't happen. kennedy: i got one last year. and i'm glad i did, the doctor told me i had heart of a 24-year-old in my freezer. thank you. >> a pleasure thank you. kennedy: coming up republican fight for the house speaker, it is getting nasty, kevin mccarthy making a gavel grab.
