5:28 pm
michael? so this so-called unity president has completely failed at that job that he claimed he was going to do the in unifying the nation. michael, when you saw this january jobs report, are we really to believe that with less people working in the jobs force, it's like 4 million to 5 million have cropped out of the u.s. job -- dropped out of the u.s. job force since before the pandemic, and we've added more in population growth. so, thusly, the government adjusts the jobs number because of the population popping. that doesn't mean more people are working. are we really to believe this jobs number when the u.s. economy's flatlining at 2% growth? >> right. so the concern about the jobs report was that if you look at the actual number of people employed, it went down by 2.5 million, as you cited both the st. louis fed and the philly fed having said. the issue that they had is that normally holiday hiring leads to about 3 million job reductions in january. well, because they had difficulty hiring people last

5:37 pm
what's the fallout, the implication of this this? >> liz, i think the implication is pretty clear, there's a new sheriff in town. the house are republicans are coming in. they, i think, will start getting to the bottom of this whole hunter biden situation. we've seen them already reach out. they've contacted witnesses, banks, they're going to get people up on the hill to testify under oath, and i think they are finally going to put a spotlight on a story that, honestly, just has not gotten the attention it's the deserved. elizabeth: so the banks are basically cooperating. they may have information because the biden treasury department won't turn over the 150 suspicious activity reports it got from u.s. banks about alleged possible money lawpped laundering by the biden family through those off-balance sheet shell companies. that's just a red flag. it's not proof that it happened, it's a red flag that something happened. >> yeah. and what's interesting here, liz, is the way that the hunter biden legal team is approaching this is in a very aggressive way. they have been going out trying to get people, it appears, not to testify, not to cooperate, to
5:38 pm
basically hunker down, which is a very --st the an aggressive approach. but i think at the end of the day, it's not going to work because the congressional committees come armed with the powers of subpoena, the power to force people to produce documents, to force testimony. so at the end of the day, i don't think they're going to succeed in keeping this under wraps. elizabeth: tom, also reports coming in they're going to the examine the activities of joe biden's brothers, jim and frank, and that reportedly they have witnesses to talk. what's the fallout of that? >> yeah. well, what's interesting, number one, is that it's showing that the inquiry is broadening the scope rather than narrowing. the other important thing is what's been great is that the republicans are emphasizing that this isn't about just fishing expeditions into all joe biden's relatives. they're focused on joe biden himself. they want to find out if he profited from in the, if he was doing things improperly taking advantage of his position, so i think they've been great about setting the parameters around investigation. elizabeth: we don't the know for a fact, but do you have any indication or any sense that
