reserve and the san francisco fed in the problematic collapse of the silicon valley bank. asa hutchinson is here. this fight could affect the 2024 race. house republicans will likely subpoena manhattan d.a. alvin bragg to talk about the bush to indict president trump. it could potentially bring in biden's justice department. do the republicans have a case to subpoena him? >> if you are looking at the department of justice. we have oversight, we held hearings on them. there is a relationship you could legitimately call them in and ask what do you know about this and do you have any connections.

there is an ongoing investigation and they could say we won't be commenting on it. it's a different situation if you bring in a state prosecutor in an oversight-type hearing. as a former prosecutor, this is not a case i can see should be brought. i think that's important to remember. it will create so much chaos. and what needs to happen is, donald trump ought to be accountable at the balance lot box and people ought to be able to make the decision. i think there ought to be alternatives to him. but this is bad precedent when you are having to indict a former president or charge that. it's problematic. it's not a case i would bring. i'm not sure it's a wise course to have those hearings in congress. liz: the d.a. says no way will

he answer to a subpoena. he says this is interests force. the republicans say they have standing to do this, and they will subpoena him if he indicted or arrests donald trump. >> i think it's inappropriate for congress -- this is not a justice department prosecution. this is a sovereign state. it's a municipal prosecutor. they don't have oversight authority over him. they don't have any business subpoenaing him to come explain himself. >> this is something that the manhattan d.a. should be involved in, that's why congress has asked him to come to us to explain what he's doing. we have oversight where we are legislative purview. >> when the federal government is providing public safety the grants to offices around the country including d.a. alvin

a u.s. attorney testifying in reference to an ongoing criminal investigation. >> what if it gets tossed or it's shut. if they bring him in will he have to testify? he may fight the subpoena. >> down the road, once with it many all over with. that's an appropriate level of inquiry. did you use any federal funds on this, and this is traditionally a campaign finance allegation, so what is the basis you are exercising state jurisdiction over it. that's a proper inquiry opposite all the issues are out on the table after the case is resolved. then you can ask those questions. liz: the president of the teachers union says it's. trump is getting criticized for slamming the d.a. claiming his

arrest will lead to death and destruction. he called bragg an animal. he's going after desantis. and mike pence is saying the media story and what's going on with trump, the drama about trump is not helping people get back to work and get jobs and fix the economy. >> where i come down on it is i don't want the focus of our country on whether the former president had classified documents. we want to get those back in because it's important for our national security. but you have got a special prosecutor looking at that. you have got the state prosecutor investigating, and in georgia as well. this is not as significant as the issues that face our families and inflation and high interest rates. that's what we ought to be focusing on. i believe these issues should be

wi-fi, then he admitted they do access your home wi-fi and all data on your home wi-fi. there were the ccp connections to bytedance, the parent company. i had a memo i presented to the ceo, why are you telling senior management to downplay the bytedance connection? he said i don't know about that memo. they claim to be transparent but their actions are anything but. ticktock is a real threat to our national security. they are harvesting data. they are not selling it. they are collecting it for nefarious purposes. everything on your phone from passwords to key strokes, four health data, geolocations, they used that to spy on journalists. and your associations and network. it's a dangerous app all for the benefit of the ccp.

bipartisan bill. republicans and democrats came together on the issue of holding tiktok aaccountable. they are driving kids to do insane things because the algorithm is road in an ai algorithm. we went together to go after tiktok and highlight the fact that they need to be held accountable, and more broadly we need to get to a national data privacy standard. liz: we have a significant game changer that could be a blow to tiktok. utah the first state out of the box to pass a new law requiring minors to get their parent's consent first. we have four states. this is a big deal. there is a mental health crisis, especially for young women.

from the highway patrol. investigators were in disagreement with the medical examiner over cause of death. a highway patrol commissioner said the coroner said he believed steven smith died of a gunshot wounds. i asked for clarity if they were sure it was a homicide and their response was yes. 10 hours later the coroner said he had to change the cause of death to a hit-and-run because of the conclusion of the medical examiner that the body was found on the highway and had no bullet fragments. i asked her why she was ruling on a motor vehicle accidents and what she thought caused the head injury. she said that was my job, not hers.
