5:04 pm
top-secret security clearance, many questions about him getting the top-secret security clearance but how much clarences dealing with such classified information. and one more thing. my source tells me they are looking for more people, this is not just a one-off they believe there may be others involved. jackie: excellent reports. david spunt . >> thank you. jackie: welcome to the show, house intelligence congressman rick crawford and former national security council chief of staff fred flights, threat. the leaker's identity released and we understand he will be appearing in court in boston tomorrow. but still so many questions surrounding this including his possible motives, your thoughts. >> well, this 21-year-old national guardsmen had access to j2 intelligence community, 5,000 people in
5:05 pm
u.s. government have access. i believe based on what i heard he had access to intel link. something that up to 100 thousand people in government have. the big problem i see is too many people have access to intelligence that is very sensitive, they don't need. and this is something, congress and administration has to get after on. this is not to excuse what happened here. but we have to safeguard sources and methods not share information we people who don't have a need to know. jackie: i think you br bring upgrade points, congressman, president biden has been questioned about this he does not seem to be that worried about what is going on and consequences, he said, i am not concerned. main many people that is not an appropriate response, feel it should be switched to military justice system. >> i think what you see is
5:06 pm
pervasive at at attitude in the administration. the reality is we have way too many people have have access to way too sensitive information, we talk about why this young man an air force international guard e-3, why would he have access to the j2 intelligence, and further. what did can he need in that information that he could share. me is an international gu. we have to make changes to who receives security clearances and what access they have. jackie: a great point. why did can he need that access. -- why did he need that access, we have no clear indication of his motive. we have a sound bite from a friend of his who came out to speak a little bit about

5:08 pm
material. another thing, one reason this so bad, because ur -- our intelligence community keeping getting larger, we hire more people, they want access to classified information and i'm sure my themo panelist, is looking into ways to stream line the intelligence community and witho cutback the waste. jackie: with that issue of documents, congressman, i'll comeback to you. we have the investigation into the classify the documents that were found at mar-a-lago. that the president former president took with him. when he deported the white house -- departed white house and document in found in president biden's garage from his previous tenure. there were documents found studin the streets in ireland where he was with highly confidential information about his whereabouts. whether the documents leaked
5:09 pm
how do we bolster the system. >> we need to implement consequences, for mishandling, the fact that we have way too many people with way too much access. and we probably over classified a lot of things, we need to revisit the classification process who has access and why. not just open it up as was indicated. we have 18 members of intelligence community now, 18 agencies they want this information because it is cool to have it. bas the friend indicated,ly he knew what he was doing, my question, was he motivated because he is trying to make himself an edward snowden hero among a select group of people that he shared this with. and did he think he could do this without consequence. snowden has done this without consequence.
5:10 pm
and so maybe me thinks he can pull another mot snowden and there would be no ramifications. jackie: this is a developing story. we'll follow it in days to come, thank you for your time, we'll have you back soon, thank you. >> thank you. >> good to be here. jackie: now to your money, inflation posted another surprising c decline in march, falling about a half percent, steepest drop in 3 years, annual basis the prices are up 2.7%, joining us now, liz peek, great to see you to talk a little bit about our money. the white house is praising the figures, as i imagine they would. what do you make of inflation numbers and producer prices and how the white house will spin this. i think they will say, everything is great. see the numbers are coming down. and oh, by the way, federal reserve you should up your target. we'll get there faster. what do you think? >> look, i think we're
5:11 pm
making progress fighting inflation. and the numbers were good, but the problem a little bit in this month was the bulk of gain was from goods prices, coming down. and the bulk of that 80% actually was from energy prices in particular gasoline prices slumping. as we know opec has put through another production cut and oil prices are going higher. that is n -- not sustainable. >> and part of gain of the margins, from retailer, inflation is getting better, generally the supply chain problems are gone. we have a little bit weaker demand. and so now i think wall street will be pivoting and investors pivoting, what does that mean for the economy. what is the economy doing in response to the aggressive rate hikes that we've seen from the fed? that will be the new focal
5:12 pm
point. inflation is not gone. and yi y, i thought for 6 months fed would redefine the target to 3 1/2%. jackie: very important to touch on. we're not producing enough at home. actually opec is coming out saying it expect the demand to rise this year, and robust summer season as we see. on seasonal basis, but i think opec plus that announced the cutta production, you sit back in united states, we used to be the world's top energy producer, we are no longer. we have given control back to the cartel to set prices. >> i think that there is another element of which is troubling, opec used to be wary of driving prices higher, why?
5:13 pm
because the u.s. industry would charge right in and drill more, produce more, and ba bridge the prices back down again that is where we have price slumps over the past decade, is u.s. ramped up production, i think that saudis who engineered this, look at united states and say they have a ridiculous energy policy in place, they are not interested in producing more oil, so we can raise prices, this production cut has nothing to do with demand soft but we want higher prices, they will get that knowing that biden white house will not allow the american industry to respond with hig higher protection. it is a shocking accusation butrue. jackie: i think you are spot on. i'll see gas head toward the dollars 5 mark against this
5:14 pm
summer. let's switch gears talk about this new push on ev's biden and epa are wanting to limit tail pipe emissions for gas-powered vehicle, a transition to electric vehicle. 58% of people that were surveyed in a poll, are living paycheck to paycheck, how can average american, living like that afford an electric vehicle, that is you know upwards 75 thousand dollars. >> only uncle sam makes the tax credit for the vehicles so available and huge that they don't notice or they are not paying 16,000 dollar difference between your average ev and a gas powers car. that is what they are pushing. that is what is in the inflation reduction act. we're people who are not buying ev's will be subsidizes people who are. people down net -- they are not bought into this.
5:15 pm
this is one of the mandates like no gas stoves that is coming out of white house to satisfy their need to move forward on climate, thinking, i think, that younger voters are onboard with this, they may be. but the realitiu our grid is not ready, i foresee with a huge shift with the ev there will be a massive change to permit new transition lines, right now electricity prices already up 13% last year will go through the roof and no longer will be more economic al to drive an ev . jackie: you bring up so many great points, it will not solve our problems, we don't have infrastructure, china of benefit from this as well. at the end of of the day the taxpayer gets stuck with the bill, liz peek thank you. >> thank you, jackie. jackie: okay twitter ceo
