stuart: abortion seems to be the sticking.for many republicans. look at the elections in wisconsin and kansas for example. are you firmly opposed to any and all abortions in the abortion pill? >> well, i am pro-life, i don't apologize for it. i couldn't be more proud to have been a small part of the administration that appointed three of the justices that sent roe v. wade to history. that's been properly returned to the states in the american people and i must tell you i will continue to champions the cause of life at the state level but also if i ever have responsibilities in washington d.c. again, or even as a private citizen, i will call on leaders at the national level both ends of pennsylvania avenue to stand for and advanced the cause of life but you talk about it being sticking points, the heartbeat bill that florida recently signed into law was also signed into law in georgia and ohio and those republican governors want

decisive victories in 2022. republican candidates we are willing to step forward and articulate pro-life position with compassion and principal, they fared well because the truth is democrats are the extremists on this issue, they support abortion on demand with taxpayer dollars all the way up to the moment of birth so i think it's the right issue, the right position but i also think it can be a winning issue for a nation that cherishes life. stuart: thank you very much for being on the show today. i'm sorry you couldn't make your announcement today on this program but we do understand these things. thank you for being here. much appreciated. >> i'll keep you posted. stuart: i'm sure you will. percent but the dividend 10% year so the whole thing we talked about the current dividend which is the cash you will get but the gross overtime over 20 years they've grown it 10% a year. stuart: that's what i needed clarified, well done. how about verizon? what did they pay? >> they are paying 7% and the good news is, is a high dividend for somebody buying it today. the bad news is, one reason the dividend yield is so high is not prices down quite a bit but they continue to grow the dividend, they been consistent payer. however, the company has a lot of challenges to work through but we believe it's priced into the stock and you can get paid 7% while you wait. stuart: so it is reliable, 7% dividend on verizon is a reliable number. >> yes, we've studied cash flows

over and over and we believe they can continue maintaining that dividend and growing it a little bit while they fix the issues with their wireless business. stuart: 7% is attractive. what will be the standout and big tech earnings? they start today, what stands out to you. >> a great question because each company in big tech these days is trading off their own situation, not lumped together anymore so i think what happens with facebook is different than apple and with microsoft, i just want to hear what microsoft says about business spending. companies dialing down what they are spending, microsoft has done so well in the cloud, that's the question i have, what's going on with corporate spending? stuart: do you ever invest in these big tech companies? they are not known for dividend paying, you put money into them ask. >> we have a huge investment in ibm and cisco, are those big

tech companies? stuart: i'm thinking of the stocks -- >> we don't and we've owned apple for many years and it was a good dividend grower they stopped growing and it got to be overpriced and we ended up looking pretty good because we sold it before it dropped off but we don't buy these of the ones that aren't dividend payers, google, amazon. we believe in the return of cash to shareholders. stuart: what does ibm pay? >> over 5% in the continue growing the dividend. they announced a tiny dividend increase this morning but ibm has been a wonderful performer and they really are tech company with a gross business but still has that old-school business from cash flow. stuart: that was your dad's stock. david, you're all right. thanks for joining us, see you again real soon. the bell stopped ringing, that means the market is open opening

it's strange because the larger model, euv makes up mask majority of gm electric car sales but they say these cars work on order battery cells which aren't with other models they want to make when it comes to ev so it's time to change, bye-bye after seven years. stuart: i think i've got the stock of the day, maybe two w week. >> it's only down by .2%. stuart: is set record highs in the past two days and terrific earnings report. >> okay, that is true. traffic was fantastic. i'm looking at the dock movement today, better sales and profits this year and you're right, third straight quarter u.s. traffic go up being the entire industry which is reported falling foot traffic and the sales were huge, double digit. stuart: that is huge.

>> and also a cost game because they are cutting hundreds of jobs. stuart: why is it down? >> i think it because it's running up into the earnings, record numbers record levels. ups, here is a proxy to the u.s. economy and trade so missing on sales after shipments dropped because of slowing retail sales, slow for the stock and profit did come in as expected but cost-cutting, not gross. stuart: is that a recession indicator? >> that's a great question because i've been thinking about that this morning. let me get to pepsi and then we will round out what it means for the economy and consumer because to me when you have this consumer companies like pepsi doing really well being able to have pricing power in this environment, it says u.s. consumer continues to spend so pepsi is raising first-quarter profit and sales did better, same as coca-cola. they were able to raise prices, cover inflation and sales continue to go up. people continue to buy chips,

they love their home food and snacks. gatorade and water brands did better. stuart: ups -- >> trait may not be moving but i feel consumer is still doing well. mcdonald's pretty strong, gm did better and so did pepsi, procter & gamble and coke in the last few days. 210 million paying subscribers, 210 million. record subscribers or users at 515 million around the world, that's half a billion people who use spotify and sales fell short because of advertising sales which we will talk about but they grew their users by 15 million three months time. they are trying to cut costs and not spend as much as they did on podcast. stuart: you pay them certain amount of money a month and you get any music? >> 500 billion free, 210 million paid. i think it's a few dollars a month or so but you get numerous

podcasts, exclusive content. stuart: half a billion users worldwide. google and microsoft, they report after the bill today, is this about ai? >> yes but when it comes to google because of the advertising slowdowns we talked about with spotify, they will report only the third quarter in history of falling advertising sales at alphabet. the first time in back to back quarters expected by think youtube will be interesting even that they've paid for that so nfl sunday ticket, how they grow users? cloud will be key, is it enough to offset the slowdown we are looking at in search? god will be key at microsoft, he will be watching that pretty closely. i think some people say it could below 20% in growth and that's pretty much a slowdown and amazon web services is way

behind aws. a i of course will be a key theme. how much are they plowing into gpt incorporating with being? and love to how much it's costing google. stuart: with got to get this in. a drop i think still on the downside, it is 27%. their deposits tumbled, huge. >> 40% drop in the deposits. as a bank, that's how they make their money, being able to loan out the money but more than $100 billion of capital flight elsewhere because of the silicon valley bank collapse and it's down 86% and that's despite the help j.p. morgan and bank of america putting in 30 billion just in case. stuart: i saw apple earlier slightly higher, still quarter% hi, did they win their legal battle? >> they won yesterday. huge because it's a huge win for apple in the battle with the
