workers, there are 166 open jobs. labor market is out of whack, businesses having a hard time filling positions, which pushes inflation higher. there are a lot of jobs out there for people who want to take them. lauren: that means more work to do and we will get the latest on june 14th. everyone needs to look at this. white women continue to vote republican only to protect the patriarchy. role tape. >> i think white women in particular want to protect the patriarchy because it is to their benefit. they want to make sure their husbands do well and their sons do well and their children do well and they want to make sure they do well. most of the women in these studies are married white women

and whether they are an oppressed group that follow meekly and do what their husbands want, it is not true and i can give plenty of examples of people who vote against their husbands so it's a cancellation vote but that is where it came from, from the fact that hillary clinton thought she was the gift women were looking for, that they were going to put her in the white house, and in her book she blames white women for not giving her the vote. that is why this thing continues to reverberate. it is insulting and offensive. lauren: did you hear this? the actor from dawson's creek called out the dnc for not holding primary debates. >> i cannot get over the fact the democratic national committee is saying there will not be a debate for the nominee

republican who is for balanced budgets, strong military and small conservatism i think he wins going away and is a formidable opponent for president biden in the fall. ashley: it wasn't all praise. he did criticize desantis's fight with disney and he will have a hard time in a general election after signing a six week heartbeat bill limiting abortion in the state of florida. liz: republican candidates are taking notice of the organization that scanning a lot of headway called moms for liberty. ashley: it's a nationwide organization that didn't exist during the 2020 race but it is an influential force, the group advocates for greater parental involvement in schools that is

helping to shape an education platform. gop candidates are trying to tap into the powerful network. moms for the but he has 100,000 members and they are pushing education policies aimed at limiting teachings, banning books they deem inappropriate and placing limits on transgender students in school sports. the candidates would like to have a conversation with them. lauren: they have some power. back to the markets. may be the fed has some work to do, dow is down 228 points. nice to see you, david, what is your reaction to the 10.1 million jobs being open and that lead up to the may jobs report which comes out friday morning? >> no question the united

states is resilient. the last part of an economy to go is the employment part. no one wants to fire anybody. as an organization we are looking at hiring people. it is difficult to find qualified people. as everything is still working financially, they go 1/4 higher, no one is expecting that. we think they will be higher longer. a lot of work to be done. this economy has been resilient. lauren: after a series of ten interest rate increases the federal reserve cannot break the job markets back. >> they can't and powell is trying to do it. you want us at jackson hole there's going to be a recession, more unemployment coming and ultimately that's the part that gets everyone scared. no one wants to lose their job and not forward everything but

a lot of america is cutting back. we are seeing the numbers come back down as far as spending goes and consumers doing worse. inflation is higher for those make less. lauren: you've been a bear for quite some time. are you still a bear? when is it time to jump back in? >> what we need to see is an official recession, this is most hesitated recession in any of our histories and we know it is coming so when we get back once everything goes on sale, i don't have that crystal ball. we will be seeing numbers come out the next couple quarters that will get nasty. if we see a financial crisis in the banking sector it could be systemic. lauren: that was the narrative we saw in three regional banks

but we moved over to the tech hype and tech is the new safe haven play, the new role, right? >> ai, tech, absolutely, the only thing that has been rounding but that's not enough, a new bull market, we ended the longest boom market in the world's history. things have to cool off. downturns in times of reprieve are normal and healthy but as we see the end of this cycle, that tends to follow with a negative 35% downturn over a 12 month time period. whether you are looking at leading economic indicators and interest rates, bonds, we have a road ahead of us, more like the calm before the storm, not ready to deploy yet. lauren: a big short investor who predicted the 2008 housing

literally see the us jet shake from the chinese jet. unbelievable. congressman brian mast is a republican from florida. we are seeing this aggression in international airspace one day after beijing declined a meeting between the two defense chiefs in us and china. what does this tell you about the bravado of china? >> what's the number one rule of real estate? location, location, location. when talking about foreign policy the number one rule is weakness invites aggression, weakness invites aggression. whether it is russians kissing fuel onto us drones or this, and administration is unwilling to react and go out there and strongly defend american interest, military assets or anything else.

lauren: your take on our key business leaders, elon musk and jamie dimon going to china. >> we are in a different kind of cold war. it's not like the cold war with the soviet union where you had every american company having to be in the fight against communism. you don't have every american company having the back of americans and freedom and democratic systems, they vote to decouple themselves from china. lauren: governor ron desantis went after the woke military saying at a different military than the one he served in and he vowed to make changes if elected. what changes do you want? >> you can't have a woke military. the well-being of servicemembers, their capability to be the most vicious, aggressive war fighters anywhere on the face of the earth with the best assets to help them fight that fight has to be the conduct of the military, not we are going to take someone with gender

lauren: the dow is down 266 points, nasdaq down by 86. pretty solid this month and this year. ashley, you are looking at other movers. look at verizon. ashley: good news for them. they inked a 10 year deal with the u.s. postal service to upgrade their tech and infrastructure. this includes the transition to cloud solutions real-time monitoring and enhancer sequence, software licenses and other hardware, the deal is worth $145 million.

i lost. it is some merchandise on my part but mostly my dealers are suffering the loss of merchandise. i lost a handful of things and it is the damage that is causing the biggest problem. lauren: when you speak to officials, the police chief, what do they say to you? >> every police officer i have come in contact with after one of these incidents has been downtrodden. their hands are tied because of the bad laws that have been passed in washington state. they are apologetic without being apologetic. i do appreciate their support. lauren: are you open for business now? is your store open? >> it is open. we don't open for another couple hours but it is open.

lauren: you don't have plywood on the doors, doesn't look like a normal business or like you have been vandalized? >> it looks like we have been vandalized. i have a couple sheets of plywood over a 5 x 8 foot door. lauren: is that the norm? our customers used to that so they know they are probably in business or is it a deterrent? >> it is common where we are. it is very common to see plywood over windows and doors. i couldn't see it. it is not a deterrent. it's a sign that a crime has happened there and most people don't like to be around that but i have loyal customers. lauren: will you stay near seattle? >> at this point i don't know. we are considering a move.

lauren: where would you go? >> maybe texas. i recently visited a friend in galveston and loved it down there. lauren: is that what other business leaders are saying? >> we have all at a recent meeting a week or so ago, clearly are not happy with the situation and trying to come up with remedies. time is going to tell at this point. i have every intention of speaking with lawmakers in the next 2024 session about what is going on because they need to know. lauren: one year, three break ins, considering leaving washington state for taxes, thank you for sharing your story.

teenagers in california viciously attacked the group of off-duty marines on memorial day. what happened? ashley: it is disturbing. that minute long video has been posted online and it is jerry but it shows a horrible story. a mob of teenagers attacking three marines in san clemente, california, pretty affluent area. it all began when one of the marines asked the group of teens to stop setting off fireworks on the beach. it did not go down well with the teens. the mob ended up attacking those marines, 40 young adults kicking their victims, those marines were left curled up in the fetal position on the ground, really horrible. bystanders managed to stop the attack. all the victims of this refused medical help when authorities arrived.

police say nine teenagers have been arrested in connection with the attack much four males, one female, assault with a deadly weapon, another four minors charged with misdemeanor, assault and battery, and the investigation goes on. it is horrible at any time, but on memorial day out of control. lauren: i want to know what parents have to say about this behavior. now this. new report says tiktok store americans financial data including social security numbers and stored in china. we have those details. more than 75 ai experts warned artificial intelligence could reach human extinction, companies and militaries around the world race to incorporate the technology into their operations. kelly o'grady has the full report next.

security numbers and tax ids in china. tiktok's ceo testified they stored american information in virginia and singapore but this data shows the platform actually stored it in china. they based the findings are documented obtained that included internal communications, audio recordings, video, screen shots and documents labeled privileged and confidential but tiktok maintaining the data is stored outside china and only accessed on as required basis, global engineers. but this is raising plenty of questions. lauren: it has been 7 months since elon musk took over twitter and we ask how much is twitter worth now versus 7 months ago? ashley: a lot less. back to you. a lot less. about 1/3.

1/3 of what elon musk paid. easy for me to laugh. musk bought twitter last year for $44 billion and even the billionaire entrepreneur, the numbers are brutal, the recent estimate puts evaluation at $15 billion, $29 billion less than the selling price. the valuation comes from fidelity's valuation of its own steak. the social media platform has seen an 89% drop in advertising revenue but you know what? elon musk carries on, he smiles, he makes jokes but that is a lot of money. lauren: and does it on twitter but maybe a lot of advertisers are not there anymore. thank you. more experts, 75 additional experts issuing another warning about ai. they say the rising technology could lead to human extinction.

kelly o'grady is in los angeles. how can a computer lead to the extinction of the human race? >> reporter: very dramatic like the terminator or something, but the fears we are creating and trusting technology that could think for itself and that could be really scary. a number of ai leaders signed on to that warning and it said mitigating the risk of extension from ai should be a global priority along with other societal skilled risks like pandemic and nuclear war. it's not the first time we have heard warnings, this after congressional testimony from folks in the ai space at a meeting at the white house with the vp but the alarm bells is growing louder because of the speed at which ai is developing. >> i'm concerned we quickly got power to various ai systems we don't understand and not capable of controlling and then become dependent on it and hope for the best.
