race. that is a hard fact and you will not be able to take on the corrupt administrative police state if your product of the very system. a lot of professional politicians in the race. i respect many for their service to the country in many roles that will more talk about who leads the white house, the executive branch of government. we need a chief executive in the white house. that will become the tradition in the gop. we will be the party that repeatedly puts out the outsider in the white house trump was outsider in 2016. on the outsider in this race. i think i bring a lesson and understanding of the constitution of the ceo if somebody works for you and you cannot fire them that means they do not work for you. it means that you work for them because you're responsible for what they do without having any accountability to change it.

a slew of market events in the week ahead with two inflation reports in a crucial rate decision from the federal reserve rejoining me to get ahead former kansas city federal reserve president and ceo in the former ftse vice chairman thomas hoenig. great to see you, thank you for joining us. >> great to see you again, thank you for having me sumac we have the consumer price index out on tuesday and the producer price index on wednesday. the federal reserve today meeting on the d.o.j. and a lot of market moving events, let's talk about inflation and what the fed will get from that. how do you think the fed reacts and you expect them to move on rates again. >> i think part of what they'll do depends on the inflation numbers and if inflation numbers stay in the 4% range on annual basis and the number stays on a 4% annual basis, they will pause there is every indication given

the comments by members of the f1 see that they will pause. if inflation numbers, apply all better off than they may be forced to try again to slow the economy. my best guess inflation numbers will come in as expected around 4% for the month like four times or so and they will pause at that point and look and see how things are going to go before the july meeting that's what they are talking about the moment. maria: thomas assess the macro story for us. we had ten rate hikes already in most people say you don't feel the full impact until a year to 18 months after. we've seen a slowdown in the economy and i spoke with the chairman of the ey the said businesses are sitting on cash in a freeze mode unable to make serious decisions because they're not sure where things are going, how do you see

things. i think things are slowing they are absolutely right you have rate increases from point to 5% up to five and a quarter% to slow the economy the problem is. and they're working out the excess savings and they still have that so there going to be ahead the fed knows that. the labor market remains strong and those of the factors that are also driving the issues around the further rate increases and i think if the economy remains even a 1.3 and an appointment stays very strong, come july there will be another big discussion on whether they should raise rates. if they are committed to bringing inflation down to 4% to 2% their target, the odds are the good have to raise rates more and so the economy further and people will have to suffer through that given the priority

on inflation rate. that's how i would see the future debate going forward in the f1 see. maria: wages of 4.3% but they're not up as much as inflation so inflation is still eating into people's income. what are your expectations on where this is going to be talked about the potential for a recession. you think will see a recession later this year? >> i think the odds are high that we will see every session if in fact this bed days committed to the 2% goal and if they have another mini financial crisis or something like that or the debt issues become putting upward pressure on rate they may interject themselves and that would put more liquidity into the system. i think how committed to the 2% goal in if they are good enough to raise rates if inflation stays around 4% and that will slow the economy further and it
