pensions with your help. bidenomics is a blue collar blueprint for america. it's for you. david: the president rays raising more eye bros telling reporters he's not worried about a potential auto workers strike as uaw contract is set to expire in about nine days, but the white house narrative doesn't seem to be convincing the american people. according to the latest wall street journal poll, 59% disapprove of the president's handling of the economy. for more on this, welcome former council of economic adviser chair kevin haslet. thank you for being here. it's not very economic in orientation, but his statement, biden's at the same time that donald trump didn't build a damn thing. i mean, president biden, god love him. he's been in one political office or another his entire life. he's been redistributing what other people built, maybe you
5:03 pm
can argue whether that's good or not, but it's not actually building things. it's just rehashing what other people do, but he says that trump never built a damn thing. your comments? >> yeah, obviously that's just politics, but biden really is challenge when had it comes to the economy and the truth. when it comes to president trump, he almost finished the wall and biden opened it up so supposedly antelope can go through and now there's an immigration crisis unlike anything we've ever seen. biden, if he had built something could have helped and going back to what he said in your intro, it's unbelievable to say that president trump was one of odell beckham jr two presidents with -- one of two presidents with the jobs in the end and covid pandemic shut down and that ended and president trump got vaccines to everybody and came roaring back and claims vet for the jobs. it's awful. it's awful. david: yeah, what was the actual economic effect of the trump
5:04 pm
policies, the trump economic policies in terms of bringing businesses back to america? biden claims they were leaving and only he brought them back. what's the truth in that? >> we passed corporate tax cuts to make the u.s. a nice looking place to go again and there's this massive wave of investment and growth in the u.s. in response to that. in fact one of the metrics of it that i think is most interesting is you go back and look before our corporate tax cut withs the cbo said corporate revenue would be this year, it's higher than that, which is a metric of how effective the tax cuts were and deregulation and other things but trump had a very, very successful economy and 3% growth and had lowest unemployment rate for minorities and wage growth in bottom 10% was higher than any other desyl -- david: talk
5:05 pm
about that in particular. talk about the blue collar workers, which he claims, president biden claims to represent. he's done so all his life and says i represent i represent the blue collar workers. >> wages were up enormously about 6500 per family for blue collar workers and the bottom line though is that if blue collar workers are doing so well under binden, why is the ua having a contentious negotiation likely to lead to a really, really long strike. look at things they're saying, uaw saying, hey, our wage is worth 30% less than the last contract because of all this biden inflation. they won't endorse biden is chaining of all the green jobs and subsidizing electric cars. they don't really need autoworkers and it's like a battery and a motor.
5:06 pm
they're going to lose maybe 200,000 job ifs we switch to electric cars and blue collar workers are upset with biden for a reason and that's why the poll numbers are the way they are. david: a lot of blue collar jobs in the fossil fuel business that have been departed as a result of his focus on green energy. he's always saying they're going to be better with green paying jobs and what's the truth to that? >> in fact, the green jobs are worse paying and the details of the uaw strike that'scosming and people making the electric cars are working on the battery plant in tennessee make way, way less than the people who are making old fashioned gas powered cars in michigan. so social security really clear the green jobs are commodity jobs and don't require the kind of skill those great blue collar workers at gm have and they're striking. they're literally mentioning the
5:07 pm
subsidy as jobs and final question. david, kevin, what's your best prediction of what the economy will be looking like as we really head into the election season, say after 2024, january 2024 on ward? >> yeah, it's going to be very much in recession next year. the fact is that inflakes is aaron rodgers and roberting up again and look at price of oil back to $90 a barrel and cpi, cleveland fed estimates for august it's 1% for the month as a whole in part because of gas prices and all that stuff will make the fed crack down harder than they have. the fed will have controlled inflation or not and everybody will be so upset because their real waning is lower and either way the economy is a big negative for biden.
5:08 pm
david: kevin hasset, good to see you, my friend. former president trump calling out democrat arguments that he could be removed from the 2024 4 ballot under the 14th amendment. in a truth social post, trump says almost all legal scholars voiced opinions that the 14th amendment has no legal basis or standing relative to the upcoming 2024 presidential election. trump goes onto call it nothing more than a "trick". for more on all this, welcome former white water deputy council saul wisenburg and katid katie. does the ballot have any justification whatsoever? >> first of all, unfortunately the former president is incorrect. there's a number of legal scholars who take this position i think you can argue it either way and i think it's ridiculous
5:09 pm
personally the idea that some county official or some state official could decide on his own and paid with the ballot and the hearing and anything like that with a practical matter and it's going to do something like this and going fairly rapidly for the supreme court and i believe the supreme court will rule you cannot remove former president trump from the ballot unless he's been convicted of something under the insurrection statute, which is an actual criminal statute. david: that brings me to the next question, katie. what happens if he is convicted before the election particularly something that might impede on this question of the 14th amendment? >> then it's a very off chance there's going to be the verdict before the elections and we have to remember that president trump is not facing an actual criminal charge of insurrection.
5:10 pm
jack smith affirmatively declined to bring that charge and certainly could have if tech athletics thought the evidence supported it. that said an argument could be maybe a bit more closely that there was a finding of some sort that was attaint amount of being involved in a insurrection or absent in some finding in a forum where he's entitled to due process, i can't imagine how the institution could be interpreted in that manner and contradictory onto itself at that point. david: the one charge is the one that could be the toughest for donald trump would be the documents charge down in florida. but many forget there's a documents charge against president biden and handled by mr. herr, forgive me, mr. herr and the point is that's being handled by a special prosecutor
5:11 pm
and the last guy that handled a biden case was di david wise and that took five years. was there any chance that mr. herr will handle that case and resolve before the election? >> i want to go back to an important point, something very important. none of these four indictments of president trump have anything to do legally with disqualifying him under the 14th amendment. the statute i quoted, 18usc2383 is a statute criminalizing insurrection or rebellion and in that statute itself it says that in addition to being convicted, you will not be able to run for office and that is congress' application of that 14th amendment provision. he should not be removed from the ballot even if he was convicted of all of these offenses and i don't think most
5:12 pm

david: one thing that goes beyond adams is the de-criminalization of the shoplifting and the new fog that's developed and it's created such crazy incentives and came out with a fog you let loose in the store that's supposed to blind some attackers and some of the shoplifter -- shoplifters and isn't it easier than creating fog and arrest people and put them in jail. >> the change stores they close and mom and pop shops are nickeled and dimed and bam, bam, bam. you show the asians and jewelry store in la and guy comes in bam, bam, bam. guarantee it and nobody in the neighborhood is going in those stores anyway. that's what you call old school and give them a cash and walk around and everybody says don't go into that store and look at what that guy got. david: curtis lee, thanks for being here . coming up inside the town that
