capitol hill outside of the house forward congressman not gates has just wrapped up the former marks, were expecting him to file a motion to vacate the speaker today. he says he was going to do that this week. he could do it at any moment. we are waiting and watching this. is not happy with house speaker kevin mccarthy over a number of things including the way that kevin mccarthy reached out to democrats over the weekend to avert a government shutdown. if he files a motion to vacate we would not see about until the 2:00 o'clock hour. the speaker's gavel is in the hands of democrats. today a motion to vacate needs a simple majority. mccarthy has 200 republicans standing behind him. mccarthy says he will not democrats but is been on a media blitz as of late trying to make the case for why he should keep his job. >> matt has been going to democrats and offering them

because that's how many votes it took kevin mccarthy to be speaker, congress does not get a lot done already a grinding fight like this is going to stop the house in its tracks even further and as you know we have another looming government shutdown in near weeks at this point. that is going to be a concern not only to traders but to federal workers and i'm sure the biden administration is concerned about that as well. neil: right before thanksgiving. another thing that, i attention just as matt gaetz was leaving, the conversation that he had with donald trump, he did not share that. but donald trump is gone on record saying republicans should be tough on this budget stuff in for concentra shutdown portion. that was not the tactic kevin mccarthy wanted to take. i'm wondering what you take of

what they might've said. >> donald trump was cheering the possibility of a government shutdown before the deal was struck. that gave a lot of conservatives a bubble of cover because the standard bear of the republican party, the person in all likelihood going to be the republican nominee in 2024 was cheering for government shu shutdown. that allowed conservatives to take a hard-line approach of what they were going to agree to with kevin mccarthy. kevin mccarthy called their bluff and definitely received a lot of support from democrats to do that and keep the government open. if that continues it has not heard donald trump he has no stake in this if the government shuts down is out of office and can rally his conservatives around it. if that continues you will see more republicans like matt gaetz and others who are willing to shut down the government. where donald trump comes down to the kevin mccarthy matt gaetz will be interesting because obviously as i think you noted earlier donald trump and kevin mccarthy had a unique relationship for the last few years.

that is another chapter that should be written and whether matt gaetz is successful in ousting kevin mccarthy and trump's role could be key giving is standing in the party. neil: much attention on donald trump surprising offensive on the civil suit. the wall street journal over the last couple minutes has an interesting story that explains why it's so important to trump that trump's wallet and reputation is tested in the civil fraud trial it's everything he's about. i kind of concur with that. his reputation and success the billionaire businessman beyond old dreams is being called into question in the civil suit. the judge in question has already said is guilty. by maligning him in the value of his assets i don't know what the month-long potential civil
