>> getting to 217 is more difficult than you'd think. elizabeth: what do you think of the process? >> i hate the process. we know more attack the selection of the next ms. america than the next speaker of the house. they'll have that candidate forum behind closed doors. then they will vote as a conference as to who they want. that's a secret ballot and nobody know who is voted and they don't announce the vote totals on those. at least not in the past. there should be an open debate and there's a member of congress and who they're supporting and you should be able to see that . when they go to the floor, you get to announce that, but if the conference is going to rally behind somebody, why is that a closed and opaque process? it's totally and fundamentally wrong. when they go to actually nominate the speakers, they don't even speak. somebody else speaks for them. it's all done behind closed doors. they don't even speak.

they're going to be the speaker of the house. that's the way the process works, and it's awful. elizabeth: you just want more transparency? you want to hear what they're saying behind closed doors? >> yeah. i think as -- if you're a constituent, you want to know what your member of congress who they're supporting. who did they actually vote for in conference to be the nominee? if your person doesn't win, get it line and support the party's nominee but right now, none of that is out in the open. who who knows who is promising what. usually it's been, hey, i raised the most amount of money so i get to be the next speaker. that's -- that was the path to get willing in the past. elizabeth: what do you think of this, who would -- would you pick jim jordan or steve scalise? jim jordan, he's also saying the house will not give priority to ukraine aid. they're going to package israeli aid with ukraine aid. that's what they're talking about saying we've got to help

israel. who would you pick? >> i like both of them and i'm supportive of both of them. to my point, you don't know what their promises are, what their agenda's going to b. how much emphasis will they give to the committee chairman? what will they do with investigations. how are they -- what are they going to do to support a chairman that offers a subpoena? these are pretty important questions and how do they get back to regular order do continued resolutions and in favor of omnibus? none of these gentlemen have offered a specific plan to deal with that and if you don't have a chance to ask that question and hear what they're going to do, i don't know. i know they're both great people, and it would be far better than any democrat out there. they could both serve and i worry about steve scalise's health. does he have the stamina to work at this every single day 18-20 hours a day. i don't know. i wish him the best of health, but i don't know. elizabeth: got it.
