really what we're seeing around the world protests not just around the middle east, but across the globe. and some of the most violent protests we've seen in the last 24 hours have been in lebanon. take a look at some of this footage from earlier in the day, not far from the u.s. embassy where security forces sprayed water and tear gas for the second day in a row to try to break up some of these crowds. the state department has green lighted the departure for non-essential u.s. workers and their families to leave this area. the state department also issued a level four do not travel advisory for americans to lebanon. all of this stems over anger from the blast on a gaza hospital that killed about 500 people. israeli officials say that it was a misfired islamic jihad rocket. hamas, however, points blame at israel, and that is the cause for all of this rage and these anti-israel protests that we've seen across the globe today including protests just like

this one earlier today in egypt. there were also demonstrations in jordan, yemen, tunisia. as far away as colombia, south korea and japan. and here in london today pro-palestinian demonstrate theres held a rally outside downing street. and on top of what you see here, they vow ised even larger demonstrations other the weekend. meanwhile, also in europe, in germany there was an attempted attack on a synagogue with people throwing molotov cocktails at it. german chancellor olaf schultz condemned that attack and any potential future attacks on jewish institutions. elizabeth: alex hogan, thank you so much. appreciate you. joining us now, the former commander of the uss cole kirk, he's keith lip old. kirk lippold. sorry about that. and a former member of israel's dehe's set. okay, let's get to -- knesset.

kirk, your reaction to the president and national security council saying military intelligence with, pentagon data show hamas is responsible for the bombing of the hospital in gaza? there's video of it too. what do you think? >> well, good evening, liz, and thank you for having me on. i think what this points out is the importance of information warfare in a dynamic environment like this. in any conflict, you're going to have people that are going to try to leverage the information to their advantage. the difference is hamas is a terrorist organization. they will always manipulate it is and lie to fit their purposes. governments have to verify the information to make sure that when they put it out, it is accurate, correct and verifiable. and that is exactly what the israelis and the united states have done. and all these other countries that don't want to pay attention to it, it is making them look like they're, in fact, terrorist supporters. elizabeth: let's get reaction to the israeli defense forces. you're going to hear the audio recording between two hamas terrorists taking responsibility.

elizabeth: what are you hearing? the audio indicates that the missile was shot from behind the hospital and then landed on the hospital. but we don't know. there was fuel tanks there, it could have been a fireball as well. no crater found. your reaction? >> i think the most important point for us to underscore, and there will be more casualtieses in this ongoing war, is that the fact that there's even a thought to blame the state of israel, the democratic state that has to defend its civilians rather than a genocidal terror organization that uses hue every -- human beings as pawns in this war in addition to the information war that was just spoken about. but but we know that there is ammunition and tunnels under hospitals, under schools, under mosques intentionally using human beings as human shields, cynically abusing the fact that the impossible would have happened, that hamas information would have been published, disseminated by mainstream media in what we think of as western

civilization. it's unfathomable. elizabeth: saw what cic -- michal just said,. rachel: shed da tlaib blamed and even threatened president biden over this saying many palestinian-americans like me will remember with where you stood. your take the on this. >> when you really look at it, it's a terrible tragedy because we now have united states congressmen and women that are supporting terrorist organizations. that is unacceptable in our country. the, they killed on october 7th thousands, or hundreds of israelis and brutalized a population. israel has a right to self-defense. the fact that these congressmen and women are saying these things indicates to me that they're going beyond what's necessary. they are now supporting terrorists, and they should be held accountable for it, the fact that they represent us is scary. elizabeth: i mean, the president, democrats and the media again talking a two-state solution, but hamas does not

want a two-state solution. its founding charter says it wants a to annihilate israel, is so how can you do a two-state solution with hamas? >> much like "mein kampf", the hamas charter you just referred to, indeed, calls for the annihilation of the state of israel and for the murder of jews. you cannot appease or negotiate with terror, and if hamas represents palestinians, palestinian leadership, then that is exactly and precisely why there can never be peace. and i would expect palestinian leadership like i would expect any other leadership to unequivocally condemn the atrocities, the war crimes, the murder, the bludgeoning, the rape, the burning babies of october 7th. anybody that cannot unequivocally condemn the atrocities worse than any attack on jews since the holocaust does not want peace and does not care for the palestinian civilians that are being used as human shields. all it wants is the destruction

support of roughly 200 members of the republican house. no other member has that level of support. he went from 99 votes against steve scalise a week ago to 124 votes when he was against austin scott to 152 votes this past friday to 200 on the house floor, and, of course, went to 199, a difference of 1 today. he unites the conference like no one else does and, frankly, i don't know why anyone would oppose him. whether folks agreed or disagreed, and most grassroots constituents did agree, but we were against kevin mccarthy neighbor months ago a. we were voting against the status quo, the establishment, the uniparty swamp. we were recognizing the failures of republicans in leadership from the past that we did not want to continue. i don't know what these individuals are voting against -- elizabeth: you don't know why? so sorry, you don't know why the 22 now oppose jim jordan? >> i don't know, perhaps you do and you can tell me. i don't know what their reason is. i haven't heard their reason. i don't know if it's just because of spite or hurt

feelings or whatever -- i haven't heard anything. frankly, i haven't heard them trying to sell it to the american people, why they don't think jim jordan should be speaker. i know they're hearing from their voters and grassroots supporters they should support jim jordan. elizabeth: so, you know, you know the issues, right? the border's in a state of collapse. we've got 20% compounded inflation. we've got now a cold war with china, proxy wars with russia, a approximate by -- proxy war with iran. there's talk of the break the glass move to calm the waters, leapt cooler heads prevail for a month and let speaker pro tem patrick mchenry get more power to run the body. but chip roy says, no, that's against the constitution. what do you think? >> yeah, that would be an a unconstitutional expansion of power and, secondly, the only way that patrick mchenry could take power that way would be if he made a deal with the democrats. the democrats voted 210-0 against kevin mccarthy. for what reason might they vote

for a republican speaker unless it was a power-sharing arrangement? that would be terrible for the country, terrible for the republican conference, terrible for those who voted and gave us the majority last november. what we need to do is elect jim jordan. we need to put pressure on those voting against him to allow us to move forward to support the party nominee who is the second most popular republican in the country, i would submit. elizabeth: is there going to be another vote? >> there'll be another vote tomorrow. we have a scheduled vote for tomorrow, is my understanding. i'm not sure of the exact time on that, but there's no reason for individuals to hold out and not elect jim jordan as speaker. if they're not for him, they should be making the case to the american people why the republican base voters are wrong about wanting him to become speaker. elizabeth it's getting so strange that even congressman ken buck says he voted for tom 'em or because he wants emmer to have the worst, most horrible job ever. watch this. >> he did not vote for congressman jim jordan. instead, voting for tom emmer. well, i guess my first question

is do you really want tom emmer to be speaker? >>, i don't -- no, i don't. mike rowe would not want to do this for his tv show. this is a terrible job. >> just to underscore that, you voted for somebody because you don't like them. >> i voted for somebody because with i wasn't going to vote for jim jordan. elizabeth: what's going on here? i mean, are republicans taking this seriously? let me back -- let me just explain what's going on. stocks are extending losses. we have rising bond yields. show the viewer what's going on with the treasuries, right in i mean, we've got oil prices going up again on geopolitical unrest. we've got -- can you see it, the 10-year yield is heading towards 5. people are worried about their kitchen table costs. this is a kitchen table election. we understand a year from now people will forget the speaker fight, but it's time to move on and get this done. how do you convince the 22 or, you know, to get somebody to be speaker and move on? nobody's going to remember this fight a year from now in the 2024 election. >> they actually won't remember

elizabeth: let's well to the show washington examiner chief political correspondent byron york. byron, it's good to see you again. what did you make of the media's disturbing rush no judgment, quick to -- rush to judgment blaming israel for the bombing of the hospital when hamas is caught on tape taking credit for it and the administration says hamas did it? >> well, there are a couple of parts to my reaction. one was that this was just an ideological-biased reaction that they had. and, two, was the sheer lack of

professionalism in this. you're a journalist. you hear there's within an explosion at the hospital and 500 people are dead. i mean, they said 500 people were dead before we ever knew anything else about it. how did they find that out? you should be skeptical about that at the beginning. and then you have a group that has given out a lot of, a lot of unreliable information in the past, and you think, well, do we believe their account of it? you should actually be skeptical of what the idf says as well. but if you'd just waited a few hours, you would see evidence coming in that was conclusionive and -- conclusive and persuasive that it had been a rocket gone awry coming from the palestinian side is. elizabeth: you know, media eye founder dan abrams blasting the associated press, "the new york times", washington post, cnn saying hamas intentionally kills innocent civilians, kidnaps, lies and rapes.

he says it doesn't mean we accept israel 's word at face value, but you don't accept hamas' word either when they've been known to do, you know, manipulation and propaganda heavily. watch this, you're going to see the reaction to all of this. >> with we should also say that this kind of death toll is not what you normally associate with palestinian rockets. and we should say, finally, that there are instances in the past where the israeli military has said things in the immediate aftermath of an incident that have turned out not to be true in the long run. >> and i think the other thing which john kirby and other people at the nsc have said e is he wants to talk to bibi not only about his end game, but about restraint, about being careful about civilian casualties. that's also something a friend could do. >> well, and after this event, that is an unavoidable discussion. it's one that, a discussion that israel has to be even more welcoming to after this event told. >> yes.

and again, one of finish. >> and that isn't to say that israel is to blame for this at all, but it is a matter of perception that they have to be very much concerned about. >> and, jake, what those images add up to is a mass casualty event that could change the international opinion of what israel is doing right now. it could shift international opinion against them. it's already shifted that opinion in the arab world against israel. elizabeth: again, they're blaming israel. this is -- >> that was all -- elizabeth: -- all in the fog of war. >> it was all grave, important sounding commentary based on a false report. i mean, the whole thing was just a false report. and it could -- a lot of these people you just showed are professional a journal is, and they could have just said we don't know what happened. there has been an explosion near a hospital in parking lot.

palestinians say it was an israeli missile, the israelis say it wasn't. we don't know how many casualties there are, we don't know what has happened yet. and that would have all been correct, and it would not have misled viewers. now what happens with the reporting that did come out which was to immediately blame israel for 500 deaths is it simply became a fact in the palestinian world and in the part of the world that's just extremely passionate and agitated about this. so it's a fact -- elizabeth: the thing to watch, byron, you seed to haves at the new york times, for example, rapidly changing their headlines after the fact, after they initially indicated that it was an israeli strike. they did it multiple times throughout the night. we understand that happens, but you're going to see that more and more at these media i outlets saying, oh, we see the evidence coming in, we've got to fix our headline, the initial one wasn't so good.

elizabeth: well, look who's here, we're so happy to have on the show congressman cory mills from house armed services. congressman, tested good to see you again or have you on the show. tell us about what you did on your own. you successfully rescued nearly 100 americans stranded in israel. what prompted you to take this action? >> well, you know, as we all recall in 2021 is the botched afghanistan withdrawal left a tremendous amount of americans behind. my team and i during that phase had actually conducted the very first successful overland rescue of americans which was a mother and three children out of amarillo, texas. i knew when this event started to occur that the same thing was going to unfold. the administration has demonstrated they've had no strategy, in plan and no priority to rescue americans. and so i took it upon myself the

basically say if biden's not going to step up and do his job, i'm going to do it for him. went over, on the first day conducted an evacuation of 32 americans, on the second day, 45 americans. we continued on to also pull out adrian huizenga which is one of my republican colleague's son. i don't think the white house defines the american spirit, and i think we swear an oath to protect our constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, but one of our priorities is the safe safety of american lives. stuart: -- elizabeth: congress congressman, you served in the army, i mean, you've been in -- you did your time serving the country. so we now have a white house where we've had to evacuate tree times -- three times americans, afghanistan, ukraine and now israel. so what do you make of royal caribbean, florida governor ron desantis also stepping up? vivek ramaswamy also stepping

up, you know, but the biden white house apparently is now charging americans for their flights home, but you guys are not. is that true? >> yeah, that's exactly right. you know, again, it's one of those things the countries that you just named, i think it's only on the short list of what's to come. we have tremendous amounts of protests and riots around the u.s. embassies in lebanon right now in beirut. you're seeing a whirlwind where the china, russia, iran, north korea geopolitical alignments continue to advance their agendas. weakness senses the aggression that comes with it, and so the biden administration has demonstrated no willingness to actually step up, hold adversaries accountable and, in fact, they can't even say that iran is the largest state sponsor or terror behind this when you've got hamas who has been funded by iran, you've got a general in lebanon with the hezbollah who is funded by iran. you have the houthis of yemen, and you also have the iraq and syrian proxy militias that the
